Ok first off. Maze Runner she was fine, Movie she was werid, but book she was okay I guess. Like she was fine until...

Scotch Trials is when she turned worse. Movie she goes and betrays the group, and leaves love stick Thomas. 😭 Books, she's fuckin brutal. She kissed Aris in front of Thomas, even though she knew Thomas had a crush on her. She sides with WCKD and Group B, she leaves Thomas and Group A and B later on. MENACE I TELL YOU!!!

Ok I only have movie Death Cure, because I'm reading Death Cure book, anyways she was annoying as fuck in there, she knew about Newt's sickness and goes "Oh he's sick? Eh he can live" She steals Thomas's blood, it's gross like 🤢 and she sides with WCKD even though Thomas loves her. She sacrifices herself for Thomas even though nobody asked for it. Like you drunk??

- this hot take is about.. my take on WCKD

Ok this can go many ways. So I'm gonna make this 3 sections. Good, and Bad. Since the opinion of WCKD being one of them is all over. Mostly the opinion everyone is on is Evil (bad) so I'll say my side. Agree or not, I am doing this because someone ( @zer0brainc3lls ) wants this. So enjoy my hot take!!

Alright let's start good:

Ok what's good about WCKD is that they are getting the cure to the flare, Ava loved four specials (Thomas, Teresa, Aris and Rachel). She did everything in Fever Code to try to make them have a good childhood but make them not escape WCKD, but like WCKD at the same time. They tried to save humanity but it didn't work, it made it worse. That's all for good, lets go to bad.

This might be the longest, bad:

Ok for bad, I'm going timeline order (No Kill Order, and Death Cure book).

Fever Code: we learn flare was man made as a weapon, (kinda bad), they traumatized 4 times, Minho and Gally for escaping, the Grievers are made out of TANKS so they can't be killed easily (tf?!) and the swipe pressure.

Maze Runner (m/b): Grievers killed Gladers, making trauma for them. Newt (movie), tried suicide, and Minho helped him not to do it. Gally tried suicide as well (I think? Like it's in Fever Code). The Thomas hot take. (It explains deaths).

Scotch Trails (m/b): Minho gets almost killed by lightning, Thomas gets kissed by Teresa but she cheats on him with Aris because of WCKD stuff, it gave the Gladers trust issues, and made Teresa a threat (thank god). Winston does suicide (movie).

Death Cure (m): Kidnapped Minho, traumatizing him, and trying to kill him by removing blood. Newt and Teresa died in a horrible way, traumatizeing them. (It's semi WCKD fault) Janson chasing Teresa and Thomas telling them it's ok, was traumatizing. Bigger trust issues now and last but not least, Thomas being the cure and he couldn't save Newt ...

summary 📣: in which thomas has a dream about a pretty girl with pretty green eyes from his past

warning/s 🚫: “angst”

slater’s note 🗯: au but also still follows the storyline of the scorch trials (part two?)

sleep was hard to come by now a days.

the heat of the scorch sent thomas over on edge as he would have barely have time to sleep before being woken from deep sweats of stress and bad dreams that were always the same and always reoccurring but always so short.

he’d lie awake at night with his hands folded over his chest while his eyes studied the surface of the sky. dark and blue with tiny little lights that were just barely visible through the usual clouds full of thunder and lightening but never really rain.

he’d think and he’d hope for sleep and for peace to come to his mind at last but he knew it’d never come.

when sleep did come, he’d wish for the dream.

the dream with the pretty girl around his age with memorizing pretty green eyes filled with youth and spark. he could see the soul in them, full of harmonious joy that gave him life, that fueled him with happiness.

it was always the same. begun the same, ended the same, never with a hello nor with a goodbye.

and that angered him. he was always set mad with the lack of time he had. he wanted more. he wanted to say goodbye.

“look at the sky, thomas, look how pretty.”

everytime he saw you, it always rained.

literally rained. water fell from the sky, drenching the dry, hot sand. blinding any live eyes of the scorch.

“looks so soft and...”

“...calming.”

he held you closely and tightly with his arm wrapped around your back while the other held your arm, making sure you were stable up close on top of him.

“you make me feel calm... you make me happy, thomas,” you rolled over so your chest was fully pressed against his, hearts connecting, hands lacing together like puzzle pieces.

he felt like he couldn’t breathe. everything you were doing he wanted to last forever and yet he hadn’t had the slightest clue who you were despite everything feeling familiar.

like this was done before, you were real and not a figment of his imagination. every repetitive touch you shared together, every kiss, every word, every noise... it seemed all real and all just a distant memory that his subconscious was pulling up for a sense of relief.

“i feel stuck in my head when i’m not with you,” you whispered, lips moving closer to his, every inch closer to desire and praise and relief.

relief from the built up tension in his stomach. relief from the scorch. relief from WICKED, being hunted, seeing his friends dying, starting life over and over again. it was all relief once your lips touched his.

“please, never leave me.”

he should’ve known it was a dream by how good he felt and by the words that fell from his mouth so effortlessly and mindlessly and by how he didn’t worry about anything.

his stomach felt like as if there were a million tiny bunches of bubbles swarming and consuming every bit of him as he took in every bit of you.

“i wouldn’t dream of it.”

it always ended there. the fantasy world of soft colors and warm weather began to melt away and disappear, slipping from his finger tips no matter how hard he tried to grasp it, hold on tightly, but that only made it fall away faster.

and then it rained.

people who put all their energy into hating teresa annoy me a lot, tbh. of course, people can have their own opinions, but its when people go out of their way to rip on her at EVERY CHANCE they get without spending even a SECOND to try to understand her or put themselves in her shoes.

i highkey hate the way the movies portrayed her, but in them, she placed the wellbeing of the entire world above her own. she explicitly asked that her friends NOT be harmed-- and i think blaming HER for the harm that minho faced even more than janson or ava (the fully grown adults who hold the power) is silly and extremely misplaced. there wasn't really ANY good option in her shoes-- choose herself and her friends and let the world die around her, BECAUSE of her, or choose the world around her while letting her friends continue to suffer, also because of her. there is no winning for her. she wanted to help people-- she thought that if she made a deal with ava, she could help people while minimizing the harm to her friends. and once more to emphasize-- she is 16. she is a child, and i dont believe in the movies she even HAS 16 years of memories to help her make good decisions. she was told by WCKD that she could help people, and that is ultimately what she cared about the most. WCKD, and more specifically ava and janson, were the ones who lied to her, manipulated her, and misled her. and since the cure WAS possible in the movies, her actions were even more justified! it's so weird to me how people act like she was so heartless and like she purposely hurt people when we see time and time again that she cares DEEPLY for everyone. you'd have to watch the films with your eyes closed not to see it.

and in the books, (i only read half of tfc so bear with me if i'm missing info) she only betrayed thomas, she warned him beforehand, and she spent the entire rest of the series trying to make up for it to the point where she sacrificed herself to save him. thomas was her EVERYTHING. she betrayed him because she thought he'd die otherwise. she would do ANYTHING to avoid that-- she'd decieve him, she'd hit him, she'd sacrifice herself for him. not to mention, since her memories weren't swiped, she was still entirely under WICKED's thumb-- the YEARS, the DECADE they spent grooming her and manipulating her into trusting them, doing their bidding, the lies they told her, are still affecting her. she's still 16. she's still a child. once again, to blame her for her actions that she was specifically groomed into by WICKED, instead of WICKED itself, is extremely misguided and a little gross to me, honestly.

in the movies, teresa wanted to help as many people as she could even at the cost of her friends. in the books, teresa wanted nothing more than to keep her lover as safe as possible, even at the cost of his trust and any possibility of love between them. she's simulataneously selfish and selfless, kind and cruel. she's all too willing to give up her own wants in order to reach her ultimate end goal, all too willing to put people in harm's way to prevent any further pain. once you look at her for just a few seconds, if you try even an ounce to see her character for what it is, you'll see a child who was put in a position where she had to make a decision no child should ever have to make. no child should have to choose between their friends or the world. no child should have to choose between their lover and themself. and no child should be blamed for their actions that are a result of grooming enacted by a number of fully grown adults who understand fully what they're doing.

if you don't like her, again, that's okay!! she made bad decisions and she hurt people in the process. but before u start talking down on her, before u proclaim your hate at any chance you get, think for a second about how she could've ended up there. and dont insult people for liking her. because on tiktok, at least, people are really bad about that Dx

throughout the short duration of my maze runner hyperfix i would write down random thoughts/headcanons i had about them so i'll just copy-paste all of them here

- newt is crazy ticklish but he gets so irritated when someone tickles him. minho does not care

- newt cant sleep in the same room as thomas because thomas snores crazy loud and newt is a v light sleeper

- thomas has a really bad habit of chewing on his fingernails

- once newt got over them kidnapping thomas, he got along really well with group b. and they loved him too (ik him and sonya r siblings but him and harriet would be such good friends. see the vision)

- newt loves reading. i think classics would be his faves

- also good omens

- also he likes mythology

- he probably needs glasses though

- thomas and minho would probably play roblox together and like. bully kids. sometimes brenda will tag along too (shes the meanest but she also thinks roblox is dumb so she goes on it less)

- minho is a total sweat when it comes to gaming

- minho and newt would be roomates

- also the whole routines/order/rules thing he has going on especially in the glade

- gally has probably called newt the f slur before but only because he didnt know the extent of how bad it was and (after a good punch and superduper miffed) newt tells him yhe history of it and he never did it again. he felt rlly bad too

- teresa 100% has a full fursona set up in her head

- she also probably silently assigns everyone else fursonas

- newt is a reptile owner

- minho likes dogs but hes also a terrible pet owner so he just goes over to thomas' place to play with his dog

- sonya watches video essays. shes one of those people that'll turn one on every time she sits and eats

- harriet and newt r besties btw

- sometimes newt gets a little nosy about what sonya wont tell him

- thomas has a rbf and intimidates everyone at first (though its usually not long before he makes a fool of himself and everyone realizes hes just a Guy)

- sonya is like newt's reality checker

- ouuugghhh flower shop/tattoo parlor sonya/harriet

- minho tiktok user x newt youtube shorts user x thomas instagram reels user

- gally has NO social media

- newt has a lowkey freakishly good memory

- sonya has a small collection of stuffed animals. she probably liked squishmallows when they were a thing, she collected them a little

- the ENTIRE gang went to see barbie together and they all dressed up

- gally probably showed up not dressed up but sonya and newt planned it so they brought him an outfit and peer pressured him into changing into it at the theater
