The Hour Of Joy - Tumblr Posts

What if instead of the Hour of Joy we called it the Hour of Apologizing to Catnap and we gathered in a circle and apologized to Catnap

I was about to go on a rant about how the Bigger Bodies didn't really do anything wrong but then I realized there's a catch to that line of thinking- if any children died during the Hour of Joy.

Now, common sense says "Yes, there were children everywhere in the Game Station and Playcare, so of course the murder machines are going to steamroll over everyone like wet putty", but reviewing the footage makes me raise an eyebrow to the roof.

What's clear to me is that

1. There are a lot of white shirts, which is either visual shorthand for "evil specialist/scientist/employee," or it's just to make the bodies stand out in the dark. There are other people in colored or dark shirts, which I would assume are mostly incoming guests.

2. There are a LOT of adult bodies. It's difficult to tell whose bodies are shorter/taller, as the VHS isn't very clear and the perspective angles are extremely high up.

That being said, I did notice something:

I Was About To Go On A Rant About How The Bigger Bodies Didn't Really Do Anything Wrong But Then I Realized

Possibly a child's body. It's extremely dark so this could be one of the cutouts that fell over or some other prop, but it looks like a shorter body with dark clothes.

Poppy was very vague in her monologue as to who exactly died, only claiming that both the guilty and innocent had their lives taken. She doesn't specify if there were any child casualties.

We haven't seen or heard of the Bigger Bodies killing any children. Doesn't mean they can't, but I'm not certain there were any incentives as of the Hour of Joy to kill their peers. They did kill innocent adults, but this seems a bit more par for the course- they were raised in an environment where every adult lied to them to some degree or actively hurt them. There's not really a way to tell which adults are "safe" and which are not- and I would wager that some of them never had a "safe" adult to begin with.

If the children did survive, clearly none made it back to the surface. Nobody knows what happened to the missing employees. But they also wouldn't have any reason to hide in the factory post-Hour of Joy if the Bigger Bodies didn't target them. Though, we are playing as a previous employee, which would give them reason enough to steer clear of us (hence why we never see them in-game.)

I'm guessing it's probably a cut-and-dry case of the Bigger Bodies just mowing everything down that moved, but I'm hoping that's not all there is to it. Again- I don't see any motivation for them to have friendly-fired away the children who hadn't been experimented on yet, and it would make the plight of the Bigger Bodies a bit more sympathetic instead of just "UWU Big Scary Toys Mad and Kill Ppl."

Common misconceptions about the Hour of Joy and Catnap

One thing I've seen everywhere is that people are saying Catnap killed the children during the Hour of Joy. We actually have confirmation he was one of the ones that made sure they were safe. He was the one to lock Miss Delight away from the orphans, whether by his own actions or orders from the prototype. Evidence of this is found in the Miss Delight VHS tape. But their goal was to kill the adults who hurt and experimented on them, and to make sure the children weren't being experimented on anymore.

We actually still have no idea what happened to the children in Playcare. If they're still alive or escaped or died, we have no idea.

Common Misconceptions About The Hour Of Joy And Catnap

The other misconception isn't so much a misconception but lack of confirmation and a popular theory becoming what people believe. That Catnap killed all of the Smiling Critters. We actually have no idea how they died (or if they are all dead) besides Catnap and Dogday, and we have no idea if any of them decided to participate in the Hour of Joy or not. We know that Catnap will kill or torture heretics (*cough* Dogday) but if any of the other Smiling Critters went along with the carnage then Catnap wouldn't have been the one to kill them.

We know that even mascots against the prototype participated in the Hour of Joy via Kissy Missy, and the only one we know of that didn't is Poppy because she was locked in her case. I'm not saying that every toy was killing adults but the likelihood of at least a couple Smiling Critters doing something violent during the Hour of Joy is quite high. And if we base everything off of the cardboard cutouts then I'd put my money on Picky Piggy and Craftycorn as they both insinuate doing violent acts. Especially Picky Piggy which sound like she ate 3 of the other Critters, Kickin Chicken, Bubba Bubbaphant, and Craftycorn.

Common Misconceptions About The Hour Of Joy And Catnap

The other Critters fates are harder to figure out besides Kickin Chicken. It sounds like he was killed for trying to escape. Bobby Bearhug is perhaps the hardest only saying that she is so lost and alone. Hoppy Hopscotch sound like she was trying to jump somewhere and maybe try to escape. She could also be interpreted in another way and she might have forced people to jump to death, like the scientists probably forced her in experiments. Bubba is interesting because it sounds like he is actually talking to the player, saying that he remembers us. And what he remembers about us is just screaming. In other words nothing about how he died but interesting theories about who we are playing as.

I don't think it was just Catnap against all the Critters, as they were all being experimented on and locked in cages. They went through the same trauma and I'm sure multiple of them wanted to be free from Playtime Co.

Common Misconceptions About The Hour Of Joy And Catnap

All the fates of the smiling critters are unknown, even if they are really dead (which I think that most are dead with maybe one still around). We have no idea how long DogDay was trapped and if he actually knows what happened to the other critters. Did Catnap tell him everyone was dead? Did he see everyone die? Did he see some die and then assume the rest when he only saw Catnap after a while? We can only theorize, so to say Catnap killed them all or that none of the Smiling Critters participated in the Hour of Joy are just theories. Not fact.

Last thing isn't a misconception just a theory I want to put out there. That Catnap wasn't originally as skinny and bony as he is the Capter 3. I genuinely think we see so many bones because he's starving. Food is dwindling and I would be surprised if he kills toys for his shrine rather than to eat him sometimes.

Guys, have you ever wondered what would happen if The main character is dead on the hour of Joy

He found himself in his bed waking up from an alarm clock.

Summary: Y/N has always been at the bottom.

At school, at home and now even at work.

He has been working as a caretaker at Playtime Co. for a year now and does his best to please the Smilling Critters and the children.

But in the "๐‡๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‰๐จ๐ฒ" he and everyone else are mercilessly slaughtered. However, Y/N simply wakes up back at work normalโ€ฆ๐™–๐™จ ๐™ž๐™› ๐™ž๐™ฉ ๐™๐™–๐™™ ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง ๐™๐™–๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™š๐™™.

Now he finally has the chance to do something right for once in his life.

Question: What would you do if you had the ability to go back in time every time you die? before the hour of Joy. And I know some of you will answer with chaos

I want to share my theory of The Hour of Joy, in particular why it happend on that day specifically.

So why The Hour of Joy happend on that day, 8th of August 1995, is because there was supposed to be an important meeting in playtime co where every worker had to be present that day. And what better day then this day specifically where every worker from playtime co was present to start The Hour of Joy.

I had this theory in mind because of that hidden radio message of the player's fever dream in chapter 3, you know the one that you need to reverse to understand what it says. One dialogue in it is "You missed the meeting." and while I know it refers to The Hour of Joy, it made me think about if there perhaps was supposed to be an actual meeting in playtime co where everyone working there had to be present that day.

This of course still leaves the question open of why the player was not present that day but who knows. They definitely have survivors guilt thatโ€™s for sure.
