okay but here me out, FINNICK ODAIR WITH ONE OF THE GIRL INSPIRATION

an : i got this inspiration when i listened to the song and heard the hook part, and this plot just popped up in my head, so this is just smut and bad grammar. i know my grammar was bad. i'm gonna use the grammar corrector before posting this, but just so you know, english is not my first language.

we don't gotta be in love, no i don't gotta be the one, no i just wanna be one of your girls tonight

imagine, you, the daughter of a millionaire in a capitol, were invited to a party where, of course, Finnick was there since he's getting paid (or invited?) to be here, and of course he's a star, a shining star, stealing everyone's attention the first moment he steps in.

your eyes can't even leave his figure—his tall, muscular figure and you know damn well you want him, just like any girl does. i mean who wouldn't? but you also know that this is not love. it's a want, a desire. you just need him, his body, his service. it's clear that you did not want him as your lover or groom, to you, you only need him to be in your bed just tonight. a simple one-night stand thing.

so you did get what you wanted. his hand on your hips, his back against yours, while he whispers praise into your ear. "you're such a good girl" "you did it so well" "you feel so good" that goddamn thing you know he probably said that to others since it was to make his customer feel good and you did not care at all. it makes you feel good, and that's enough. you don't care who got to hear that from him too, this moment is just you and him.

his cock was inside you, making you feel like heaven, his thrust made you see stars. now you understand why he gets called 'Capitol Sweetheart' because he really knows how to make his customers satisfied.

you moan—the loudest moan that ever made it way out of your throat—no one has ever made you feel as good as Finnick did. just from the way he gave you an oral in the beginning, it was enough to make you know this night would be replaying in your head for a long time.

his hand found its way to your clit, making you feel like you were going to explode in any minute. his hot breath against your skin and how he said "cum for me, darling" were just so perfect. his thrust fastened as if he knew you're so close to climax, and he's right, just having his hard cock inside you was almost enough to make you cum right there, and Finnick knew that too, but of course, since it was his service, he's continued fucking you even though he knows you won't last long.

and when this night ended, he let you hold him until the sunrise (another customer service for sure), and when you did say goodbye to him, he just walked out with that fucking smirk on his face. getting to know your secret was probably his favorite way to get paid from his customer, after all.

( another an : i feel so guilty writing this, but i hope you can understand what i'm trying to write lol. my first smut in english and it's already so fucked up lmao )

the only reason you were alive.. was because of him.

when you were fourteen your name was pulled from a large glass bowl just like many others before you. you felt the whole world crash around on your shoulders as you had heard your name called and eyes settled on you, wild but filled with relief that it was you and not them.

you couldn’t breathe and you felt your heart pound against your chest so harshly, it was hard to forget. you could feel your ribs crack.

moments after, an eighteen year old boy’s name was called, someone you hadn’t known and forever wished you had never met.

today, you sat on the same train from six years ago feeling like a scared little girl, like fourteen year old you had came alive once again with the call of your name from the escort. your eyes wide with horror and dread before closing with the feeling of content at the idea that now, your time had come, and your luck had finally run out.

your ride to the capitol made you queasy as the male victor drawn from the glass bowl tired his best to talk to you, ask you of your strategy and skills, completely oblivious as to how you survived on the reliance of some other boy who wanted nothing more in life but to die.

the capitol was flooded with people in nice clothing and overdone hair and accessories filled with colors ranging from one end to the other of the color scale. it hurt your head and in return you frowned at the sight of many smiles and sounds of glee you couldn’t return.

you clenched your jaw and fists as the peace keepers pushed you through the commotion with their cold, tense hands. it made you arch away, not enjoying the touch, never enjoying the touch, especially from them.

the games had ruined all human contact for you. it made you a stranger to all those who would enter the arena, even after the first year where you were forced out to the parties and gatherings and fame that was supposed to pull you closer to past victors, but so undoubtedly failed because they all knew you weren’t a true victor.

°•

your stomach filled with knots and before you could even think, you ended up back where you were six years ago only without short hair and naive-innocent eyes that created adoration for sponsors.

you held the same brightness in your eyes now, despite all the death and traumatic moments that laced into your irises of experience—experiences that still haunted your dreams in dark clouds. dreams that more or so we’re nightmares that you attempted to push away at thought.

you had a gold dress wrapped tightly around your waist while strands of look-a-like wheat loosely twirled around your waist with a thin layer of tulle flowed over—in representation to the eleventh district. you sparkled gold specks, making you hard not to be noticed as you walked through the entrance of the arena where all the horses waited with carriages.

hard not to be noticed by him.

“for one thing, they never fail to make you the prettiest girl in the room.”

you clenched your jaw at the sound of his voice, his unmistakable sarcastic tone filled with taunt and something else that made your chest tighten even more so than it already was.

you turned around, eyes meeting finnick odair’s as he had a quirked eyebrow at you, wanting you to say something in return, but almost knew you wouldn’t. you took one look at him before sighing, knowing this would be one long experience and if the games didn't kill you, he probably would himself.

“it’s a shame,” he mumbled, leaning slightly on the wall the two of you stood by, “you almost made it without another look from the capitol, but here they just pull you back in for more.”

you licked the inside of your cheek, “what do you want?”

“oh nothing,” he grinned, “just making sure i catch up with the capitol’s most hated before they tear you apart out there in the arena.”

your mind thought of the reason as to why you were the most hated, making your shoulders sink and expression become even more heavy with sorrow than before in remembrance of the male tribute you had been paired with that year; jens and the way he had sacrificed himself right before your eyes moments before you were crowned victor for that years hunger games.

“you’re going to be the one to kill me, aren't you?” you frowned harder with hurt.

“i wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart.”

°•

the training room was filled with many victors practicing and sporting their skills for all to see. it made your head hurt at the sight of so many finding delight in the thought of killing/hurting one another in order to please the capitol.

you swallowed harshly before rubbing the side of your face, deciding where to start first. although you weren’t exactly the capitol’s most hated victor despite finnick’s words, they all still thought so lowly of you with no strength and no skill but the ability to hide real well.

but overtime, fueled with the anger of people thinking so low of you, and anger that you were actually so undeserving of the victor stand point, you had trained yourself to something your fourteen year-old-self wasn’t.

“wanna spar?” johanna grinned to you as she came up from behind you holding two swords tightly in her grip. “i promise i won’t hurt you too bad.”

“you sure,” you quirked a brow, taking a hold of the metal material she held out to you before taking a few steps back for some distance. “i don’t wanna hurt you.”

she rolled her eyes, also taking a few steps back, allowing silence and focus to cloud her vision before launching herself at you. she swung her sword causing you to lean backwards, almost falling to your ass from how low she swung.

you swung back, catching her sword causing a loud metal on metal sound to echo throughout the large room. swing after swing you had proved yourself to not be the girl you were all those years ago that people had watched from their screens with worry and even anger with how easy you got away with winning all because of a boy who was smart and strong and charming and in the end, had no will to live.

you were no longer weak.

you had almost caught johanna’s skin many times if it weren’t for her being quicker and more experienced with combat until, finally, the tip of your blade sliced across her cheek, catching her off guard.

she frowned and just as you were going to take another stab at her, she rolled behind you, making your swing to your side, thinking you'd once catch her off guard with how quick you reacted, but to your failure, you had caught finnick just barely at the tip of his nose.

you swallowed harshly, taken aback, and after he swallowed his own slight shock, he tipped the blade away from his face with two fingers, smirking, “careful there, sweetheart.”

you dropped your weapon, clenching your jaw.

“wouldn’t want to kill the most charming person in the capitol,” johanna rolled her eyes, speaking in a rather low and annoyed tone as she dropped and rolled her shoulders from how tense they felt. “of course, your gonna end up deserving it if you keep getting in the way, finnick,” she bumped shoulders with him before taking ahold of your own sword, walking away.

“you sure know how to fight, girl wonder. where was that at your first games?”

“shut up,” you glared at him, rolling your shoulders, now feeling fired up.

his eyebrows raised, slightly surprised at your words, “finally standing up for yourself? what happened to you in those six years?”

“just decided i’m done letting people like you shitting on me for something i couldn’t control,” you spat, feeding into his taunt.

“you let that boy die for you,” he leaned in forward rather fast, catching you off guard with how close his face was to yours. “you let that boy die for you even though you knew you very well you didn’t deserve to win. you’re weak, you always have been, always will be.”

“i was fourteen,” you pushed on, hurt by his words and now completely set off. “he killed himself before i could even process what had happened. you think i wanted to be victor? you think i even wanted to be drawn from that stupid glass bowl in the first place? i wanted to be dead the moment they drew my name.”

your voice came out fast and choppy filled with anger and offense as you couldn’t even process what nerve he had to call you the things he did, “i am not weak. you know why? because i have put up with people like you for six fucking years. i am not weak.”

“prove me wrong then,” he swiftly gripped your chin, tightly, raising his eyebrows daring you to do something. “prove. me. wrong.”

you jerked your head away from him, glaring at him, not knowing what to do but walk away with your fist tightly gripped, thinking of how you’d have to kill him if you wanted to prove his words wrong.

°•

you were completely knocked out from the strobe of lightening that flew through katniss’ bow before electrocuting the whole arena. you hadn’t known whether if you were dead the minute you had hit the base of a tree but you figured you were with not being able to move or think or even open your eyes.

that was until everything in your body so suddenly ached and you were very much aware that you were alive from the pounding headache taking over your mind and your body pressed against the cold metal floor of a jet.

the jet that whisked away dead bodies.

you pushed yourself from the floor, groaning and keeping your eyes shut tightly due to the bright fluorescent lights stabbing your sight and increasing your throbbing headache. it was then the questions flooded in.

what happened?

why were you on the jet?

was this a dream?

where was finnick?

finnick, the boy you had came to rely on progressively through the short amount of time you had all spent in the games. he had saved you many times and even when you had tried your best to stay as far away from him as you could, wanting nothing to do with him and his taunting till you finally gave in once he had saved you from the hurling axe that had been coming your way from one of the district one victors, tackling you into the water, just barely missing the very sharp blade by an inch.

you were in a small room before opening the surprisingly unlocked glass door out into a large main hallway, where voices echoed and touched the walls gently. you slowly wandered before reaching fogged doors that prevented you from seeing who hid behind before you heard his voice.

“i don’t know if she’s ready or not.”

you slowly pulled the knife your had hid in beneath your belt and shirt at hand, holding it tightly as you continued to listen carefully.

“what do you mean ‘you don’t know’,” another voice spoke lowly and rather irritated.

“she’s hard to read,” finnick mumbled, “she isn’t exactly an open book, ready to tell me every secret she has.”

“i thought that’s who you were, mister ‘i know everyone’s secrets-”

“what’s going on?” you passed through the doors, taken aback the moment you saw and realized who was all in the room, haymitch and the game keeper and finnick like you had guessed. “why am i here?”

“y/n.” you gripped the knife tightly behind your back as you looked between the men, analyzing each of them fully before you landed on finnick who was leaned against the other end of the large table across from you, staring at you with an unfamiliar look that caused your chest to filled with an unfamiliar feeling.

“what’s happening?”

“you might want to sit down for this, sweetheart,” haymitch took a step towards you with his hands ready to grasp you, and out of panic you lifted your knife, pointed closely to his chest making his arms go up in surrender. “i’m not gonna hurt you.”

“how do i know that?” “y/n,” finnick had his arms raised as well, rounding the table to join haymitch’s side. “y/n, it’s over.”

“what’s over?” you still had your knife pointed, “why am i here?”

“the games are over,” the gamemnaker mumbled from the table, watching the scene unfold, “you don’t have to be scared.” you looked between the man anxiously before the weapon was ripped from your gripped making you yelp in surprise. you suddenly felt cornered as you watched haymitch hand the knife to finnick who set it down on the table.

“you're going to kill me now, aren’t you?” you frowned hard with your back pressed against the wall, fear and doubts beginning too creep in on you.  “i wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart,” finnick smiled lightly, “you proved yourself.”

dead from the beginning. finnick odair x reader

summary: in which finnick thinks you’ll die and you just want to prove him wrong

“i’m not here to make friends, i’m here to fucking win.”

the crowd shouted out in different variations of reactions, all entertained, shouting out with joy while others clapped, they were all so easily entertained and fell victim to entertainment so quickly, caesar himself cried out in joy, smiling widely before clasping his hands, “really! you all hear that?”

they cheered louder and your chest swelled despite in your head you were unsure whether if you’d truly win.

“you’re a delight,” caesar tapped your nose and you giggled in the fakest way, swaying your feet back and forth. “tell me more!”

“it’s quite easy, really, i mean look at me!” there wasn’t really much of you; to easy body mass and strength wise, but otherwise you were a stunner, and that’s it, you looked like you couldn’t hurt a fly with you stuffed in your poofy dress. “i’m going to win, caesar, i’ll promise you that-”

the interview ended soon with a cocky smile on your face and an extravagant wave as you were escorted off the stage. your smile dropped and you clenched your jaw at how ridiculous those interviews were, boasting about yourself was quite embarrassing, especially if you died in the end.

the first step you took in the hallway and back into the bright lights you had previously waited in, you felt a hand grab your bicep tightly, escorting you further down the hallway until out of sight of all the capitol people and tributes waiting to be interviewed.

your eyes hit finnicks once he shoved you against the wall roughly, both his hands now gripping both your biceps tightly with an angered expression, “what the fuck are you doing?”

“what?” you glared at him in confusion.  “where do you think boasting is going to get you?” finnick’s voice was low and full with agitation, “it's not going to get you sponsors, boasting doesn't look good on little girls like you, especially when they get knocked out within the first few seconds of the game because they don’t know what they're doing.”

you tired to shrug off his grip but he only held tighter, pressuring you further against the wall. it made you wince but you kept calm, fighting off any pressure of your face falling naive. you forced a smirk, pressing back against him so your face was even closer to his than before, “i didn’t think you cared so much.”

“i’m trying to not get you killed,” he gritted, “you being cocky puts you as a challenge to the other tributes, especially since you’re not in one or two. they’ll all target you now.”

you finally fully forced him off, your face dropping from your smirk as you begun to walk down the hall, “i can take care of myself.”

“sure, kid,” he followed after you, keeping his distance this time as he watched you clench and unclench your fists with your pretty blue fluffy dress flowing around you in quickness. “i’m sure you can.”

you flipped around quickly, catching him off guard with how fast you had moved and how frustrated you looked, “don’t want me to die? tell me what to fucking do because this whole trip you’ve been no fucking help.”

he stared at you, slightly taken aback, sharing the same intense stare you held before finally exhaled sharply looking around for a moment before walking right past you, ignoring you. you were now the one walking after him, but you didn’t care to keep space from him, you practically ran after him before pushing him against the wall.

“what the fuck is your problem?” you quirked a brow, your eyes full of frustration and anger, now cornering him, “one moment you have no problem telling me what i’m doing is wrong and the next you won’t even look at me.”

“because you’re going to die, y/n,” he said fast, his own words running up on your own. “the moment you jump off that tube, you’re dead and i don’t think you’re ready to hear that from the way you so confidently stated, you're going to win.”

your cheeks grew red from embarrassment and your chest tightened in pain from the truth. he was right, you weren’t ready to hear that. you so solemnly wanted to believe you were going to win, but finnick dropped the bomb, preventing you from doing so. you wanted to slap him.

but you didn't, you took a step away from him, getting one more good look of him in distance before trudging down the hallway with your eyes burning in fear.

and this time, he didn’t walk after you.

°•

the final days had been knocked down fast like dominos before you’d be finally sent up to what finnick called your death bed. those final days had filled with training and silent dinners, the only time finnick spoke to you was to inform you of events you had to attend to, but nothing else.

the day had come and to your surprisal he had spoken. you didn’t expect him to escort you to the jet but there he was, waiting for you with his hands clasped behind his back, thinking deeply before realizing you stood before him in slight confusion.

his hand pressed against your lower back as the two of you began to walk once again to the large jet that would take you to the arena. he was silent for awhile with his eyes flickering back and forth, deciding what to say.

“you need to make alliances,” he mumbled, “i know you don’t want friends but you need some trust formed between the strongest there. you kill them in their sleep, but otherwise in the beginning, run away from the cornucopia, the beginning is always a bloodbath. let them do all the work and then find them.”

you looked up to him, your eyes slightly wide as he spoke rather quick, trying to fit it in all the time the two of you had left. it made your heart pick up pace and you began to feel even more sick, the reality of it all coming to light.

“be smart,” he whispered, finally turning to face you as you were now close to the jet. the his pad thumb reached up and swiped you cheekbone lightly in a small touch of affection. “you can’t afford to be stupid out there. stupid gets you killed. so does your ego.”

you swallowed harshly, not knowing what to say. his change in attitude and demeanor was all too much to take in at that moment. but you could still see the doubt in his eyes, knowing there was a very low chance you’d get out, but he wanted to feed your hope at least once.

but his eyes only made your light of hope dimer. it was then you knew you had to prove him wrong, you had to win.

°•

the end was a bloodbath.

just like the beginning.

leaving the arena was such a relief, the knot in your stomach that had been there for days had finally been untied, allowing you to finally stay calm, but you still couldn't let your guard down and no matter how hard you wanted to fall asleep on your way back to the capitol, you couldn’t.

you had almost stabbed finnick the first moment you had saw him, almost finding him unfamiliar which was a rather unfair statement since you were the one completely covered in dried blood and grime, staining your skin and hair, making you practically unrecognizable.

he hadn’t cared, he was shocked, and proud, causing a warm feeling to fill his chest as he had walked to you fast, holding you tightly.

he wasn’t watching when you had single handily took down five other tributes, declaring you the victor. he hadn’t really watched any of it in fear that you’d die just like all the past kids he had to mentor, including annie, a girl he had come to love fast but ended watching her die on screen with the rest of panem.

that's exactly what he expected from you, but there you were, in his arms, so tense and so tired that you hadn’t even cared that you had proved him wrong.

my request if you’d like to do it :) finnick and the reader are past exes. they both get chosen as the district 4 victors for the quarter quell. they constantly argue with each other and taunt each other and are apart of different alliances. but they both realize they’re still in love and want to protect each other so during the games the reader switches to finnicks group. they then admit their feelings.

sides switched. finnick odair x reader

summary: in which reader and finnick still have feelings for each other after all this time

warning/s: swearing

slater’s note: hi! thank you for the request, good to know there’s still finnick stans out there :))

image

you squeezed your eyes shut tightly, counting.

one, two, three, four...

everything was quiet, leaving you to your own thoughts and you found so much pain in it. you wish you could fall asleep but you knew, even then the horrors of future would reach you.

less than ten hours ago your name was drawn and called out to the crowd of district four, deeming you the female victor that would take part in the quarter quell. you had clenched your jaw tightly before joining your escorts side, trying to hold back from frowning too much since the whole capitol was watching, probably waiting for a smile from your face due to your ruthless win a few years back making it seem as if you enjoyed killing.

but because of your ruthless killing you'd be haunted for the rest of your life just because of it.

your bare feet padded against the floor of the hallway that lead to each of the bedrooms quietly, hoping you could distract yourself from your aching chest. the thing was, you had never dreamed of having anything to do with the capitol after winning the games, but after snow placed that crown over your head and congratulated you, you had learned it was only the beginning.

you traveled to the butt of the train with your hand pressed against the metal walls in guidance. the walls were entirely glass, giving you a good view of the environment that you passed by, which at the moment was entirely too dark for you to see.

you almost let out a yell once you realized you weren’t the only one in the room. your eyes fixating on finnick who sat comfortably on the couch that outlined against the curve of the wall, his eyes fixated outside the window till he turned his head, looking to you, or so you guessed since it was so dark.

“i should’ve known you'd be awake,” he mumbled lowly a sense of spite low in his tone as he shifted slightly in his seat.

“we’re both so alike,” you whispered back, staying stationary in your place by the door. it wouldn’t have been right if you sat. after the two of you had ended things it never felt right to be anywhere near him, but it was hard to stay away when the two of you were practically neighbors in victors village.

you saw him everyday, even if you didn’t want to, he was there.

“funny how that works,” he smiled a little but still filled with the illness of hatred in the pit of his stomach. he then stood, taking slow steps towards you before he was close enough that both of your chests almost touched. “we’re oddly so much like the ones we hate.”

“don’t deny it, finnick,” you mumbled, looking up through your lashes with an impressionable smirk on your face. “you still love me.”

“oh how you know me so well,” he said back sarcastically, making you wince, “but it seems you forget, i don’t care for those who bring no value to me.”

you clenched your jaw at his words, he knew very well that they’d hurt you and perhaps that was his way of finally getting back at you for ending things, for laying those exact words out for him to listen to. you resisted the urge to explain yourself, to speak the long overdue explanation you had made up in your head long ago, but you bit your tongue allowing him to bump shoulders with you rather roughly, exiting the room.

°•

you never intended to hurt finnick, but with the whole capitol against you and president snow himself, you were force to end things before either one of you got hurt.

you stood out in the hallway, not necessarily paying attention to their words but rather the audience. you swallowed uncomfortably, slightly put off and forgetting how nerve racking it was to speak in front of thousands of judging faces who only wanted a show.

“play dumb,” you heard finnick’s whisper voice from behind you making you tense up slightly, raising your shoulders in anticipation. he didn’t join you side, staying behind you yet inches away as he continued to whisper while watching caesar and a male victor. “it always works.”

you clenched your fists rather hard allowing your nails to press harshly in the palm of your hand, “i don’t want to.”

“you have to,” he seemed eager, knowing it was almost your turn to get interviewed. “they eat that up.”  “it’s different this time,” you mumbled, “i’m not fifteen anymore.”

“y/n,” finnick flipped you around quickly, no longer whispering but rather harsh at tone, not wanting you to fuck this up, “you’re going to go out there and play that cute stupid little girl the capitol loves so much because if you don’t, we lose. you fuck it up.” you shove him off quickly, now angered, “you think i care anymore? the moment my name was drawn, i lost. either way, however i fucking play it, snow will have my head.”

he watched you storm off until you hit the edge of the curtain line, allowing caesar to introduce you, allowing a round of cheers and applause to welcome you. you looked back to finnick cautiously, thinking, then gliding out in front of everyone, putting that cute stupid little girl smile the capitol adored so much.

he knew you'd do it, no matter how much you didn’t want to, you kept up the fake act, putting on the show and feeding into their entertainment. finnick couldn’t help but smile, looking to his feet before back to where you sat, moving like a little girl with your arms while you answered caesar’s questions with delight and to that, the crowd cheered, laughed, clapped, adored you.

you had looked over your shoulder to see finnick standing, watching you with pure astonishment like everyone else, but he kept his face blank of emotion with his lips slightly curved and arms held behind his back.

you gave him an unimpressed look, one that told him you weren't happy with him. you slightly shook your head once before turning your attention back to caesar who was recovering from his fit of laughter.

you would do anything for finnick, especially if that meant he was safe. including acting like a fool in front of capitol people, the real fools.

°•

the moment the countdown had ended, you dove into the water, swimming as fast as you could to the cornucopia, knowing well enough you needed a weapon if you were going to survive, especially if you were without finnick.

you hurled yourself on the rough rock the cornucopia was sat on, moving quickly before grabbing onto a spear, deciding that was the best you’d get if you wanted to move fast, but before you could dive back into the water you felt a hand pull you back roughly.

you swung your spear fast, the large, sharp point landing close to one of the male career’s throats. you kept your arm steady as he still held onto you, giving you a knowing look as if asking if you actually wanted to do that. and you really did.

“you’re with us girl,” he grumbled, trying his best to lean away from the spear.

“no, i’m not.”

a hand abruptly yanked on your hair roughly, pulling your head back to face the career one, gloss, a playful look on his face, “you wanna survive, you’re coming with us.”

°•

night set in fast as you had hesitantly agreed into the alliance of the careers, not wanting to die just yet. they had kept you close and in-between them as you all hiked through the jungle full of disasters.

if the obstacles of death traps didn’t kill you, the heat and dehydration definitely would. sweat soaked your body, it dripped down your forehead creating your face to heat up even more than it already was.

you weren’t sure where you were going or what the career’s motive was at the moment but you knew it wasn’t good, especially when you pretended to lie asleep on the ground, allowing them to speak freely.

“we’re getting nowhere,” one of the mumbled, “i’m going to die before we find the girl on fire.”

“you need to be more patient,” one of the girls grumbled.

“we need to kill girl on fire,” the voice spoke fast and angrily, “but before that, we have to kill the district four boy. we have a lot to do and we’re getting no where, so excuse me for not being fucking paitent.”

“how do you propose we move faster? we have a whole goddamn island to search and they could be anywhere on it.”

“that’s why we have her.”

you held your breath, feeling the obvious attention pulled to you.

“there's no way she’ll help, they’re from the same district.”

“oh she’ll help,” you could hear the snark in the mans voice making you close your eyes shut tightly. “she’ll just need some convincing.”

you felt stuck in your body, completely trapped as they had continued to talk before it went completely silent. you knew they wouldn’t kill you, but you were still too fearful to fall asleep.

it wasn't long till you felt a kick on you back, “it’s your turn to keep watch.”

you rolled over seeing the female victor from district one, you got to your feet slowly, eyeing the girl carefully before nodding, leaning against a tree while she laid down next her brother.

you watched her silently before your eyes traveled to the rest of the careers thinking about how you could do it right then. kill them. they were all sound asleep but then again it wouldn’t be a smart play. anyone who had survived the games slept lightly. the moment you cracked the skull of one of them, the rest would be ready to pounce.

you had to run.

°•

“johanna?”

“y/n?” the girl narrowed her brows, squinting at you before fully coming to realization it was you. “jesus, y/n, thank god you’re alive.”

she wrapped her arms around you before pulling away just as fast, her eyes frantic with sweat dripping down her forehead. you could tell she was so close to falling away from her sanity just as you were.

“where’s finnick?” “i don’t know,” she shrugged, “i would have guessed he was with you.”

“fuck,” you whispered, pulling away fully from her grasp. she gave you a questioning look. “we need to find him, the careers are hunting for him and if we don’t find him before they do-”

you were cutoff from the loud sound of thunder, drawing both of your eyes to the sky. johanna let out a yelp of joy, calling out to the rest of her group with a rather rare smile on her face, “rain!”

you could see the large droplets begin to fall from the sky fast making you gasp in slight relief. johanna ducked her head back in joy, allowing the rain to fall on her face, only for hot droplets of blood to soak her face.

your eyes went wide and you gasped, the same liquid completely soaking you. the feeling was warm and you suddenly wanted to throw up as the taste filled your mouth.

johanna let out a scream, calling out to the rest of her alliance—her alliance that you couldn’t see—yelling them to run and follow her. you tried your best to shield your eyes from the blood, attempting to find where she was, but you failed, feeling trapped as you were so completely unaware of everything of your surroundings.

“y/n!” johanna yelled for you, causing you to begin to run, no longer shielding your eyes, but squinting, trying your best to see but it was hard when your entire vision filled with red. “y/n, where are you?”

you ran and ran, gripping your spear tightly as johanna continued to yell till finally you bumped into something roughly, or rather somebody, landing you on the ground and just as fast as you figured out who it was, they swung their large weapon to you, making you roll fast onto your stomach before you tried your best to get to your feet.

you were quickly knocked back down to the slick floor of the jungle and away from your spear making you swear. someones body quickly layered over yours, pressing a knife to your throat. you recognized him to be one of the people who had made an alliance with the careers, “where’s your boyfriend, girl?”

“i don’t know.” you suddenly yelped loudly, feeling the familiar feeling of being sliced, his knife running roughly along your bicep, causing your own blood to blend within the rain. you seethed, struggling beneath his weight, but he kept you still, now pressing the sharp knife against your cheek.

“i’m only going to ask this one more time,” he said harshly, blood filing his hair before dropping down upon your face causing you to continuously flinch. “where is finnick?” “i said i don’t know!” you yelled before screaming loudly as you felt the knife sliced against your thigh deeper than before.

you struggled harder even more, tears coming to your eyes as your hands grasped the ground tightly before you took hold of a rock, slamming against the side of his face. he cried out in a low yell as you quickly got to your feet, slipping once as you grabbed your spear before going into a full on sprint.

it felt forever, your lungs beginning to give out as you gasped and gasped, forcing yourself to keep running so the man wouldn’t catch up with you.

the blood rain slowly begun to stop, causing relief to fall from your shoulders, but you knew that now you had to find finnick. he was the only thing that mattered right in that moment, you didn’t even care if snow would kill you himself just because you broke the promise you made to him.

the lining to the trees begun to clear, causing you to slow your pace, allowing yourself to finally catch your breath as you slowly walked, now fully aware of the pain seething on the side of your thigh and bicep. your walk turned into a limp and soon you broke to the beach where you saw johanna, beetee, wiress, and.. finnick.

“oh thank god,” johanna’s gaze landed on you making you slowly walk her way, wincing. she looked as if she was about to hit you, scold you for not following her but her eyes slightly went wide at the sight of blood still oozing from your body. “what the fuck happened?” “one of the career alliances found me,” you mumbled, still trying to catch your breath as you stared out towards the horizon, completely exhausted.

“what's going on?” finnick was quick to join your conversation with his face scrambled up to a frown, looking to johanna then to you.

“your girlfriend-” “finn,” you grasped his arm quickly, interrupting johanna before she could say anything more. “finnick, i need to talk to you.”

his eyes intensified as he got a better look at you, his hand grasping your arm, the one that already held his. his jaw was clenched, hesitant, looking to the water before looking back down to you, looking to katniss before looking back to you.

he pulled you away slowly from johanna and the rest of the group despite her grumbling. finnick’s lips were pressed into a thin line as he still held you. he could feel his stomach swirl at the sight of you, his chest tightening to realization that you were hurt and probably because he wasn't there.

“finnick, the careers are looking to kill you.”

“it’s the games, y/n, everyone’s out to kill me,” he almost scoffed, shaking his head while slowly removing his hand from yours in support, almost finding it ridiculous that this was what you had to tell him.

“finn, no,” you shook your head rather fast, your voice broke and your head began to spin, “you don’t understand, there’s something going on, something’s not right.”

he looked taken aback, stress lines falling from his face as he slightly leaned back, now fully letting go of your arm, “y/n.”

“finnick,” your voice was breathy, head still spinning, and he leaned back forward, ducking closer to you.

“you hear what you’re saying?”

say it. y/n, say it.

he hoped and begged you knew about the rebellion, he hoped you knew but there was a rare chance you did from the way you looked at him.

“what?”

he couldn’t say it. he wanted so badly but they were being watched, everywhere, there would be no way for him to tell you.

you laid a hand on your forehead, feeling dizzy. your eyes rolled to the back of your head before your legs gave out from under you. finnick quickly falling with you, his eyes going wide as his hands roamed everywhere on your body, shaking you.

“y/n?”

your head rolled, your vision blacking out after you mumbled, “i don’t want you to die, finn.”

°•

finnick softly dragged the side of his fingers against your cheekbone, waiting patiently for your conscious to return.

you had scared him, real bad. if he was being honest, he never stopped caring for you, even after your hurtful words that lead to a break up. he almost knew that was coming, all things good in panem didn’t last, especially the most desired.

they always became corrupted.

you had been on this cursed island for more than twenty four hours without food or water and untended wounds, it made sense as to why you passed out, but it still didn’t put finnick at ease with johanna’s constant reassurance that you were okay, that you were going to be okay.. once you woke up.

finnick sniffed, wiping his nose before slouching, his eyes never leaving your face, not wanting to miss it when you woke up.

“she’ll be alright,” johanna mumbled, coming to his side with her squeezing his shoulder quickly before letting go, eyeing you softly. “better she’s in there then out there.”

“yeah,” he whispered softly, “i still.. i just can’t help but worry..”

“well you’ve both been away from each other for how long?” johanna lifted a brow before her voice unleveled to a more serious tone. “you know she loves you, right? she came running through the forest only worried about you, finnick, no one else.”

his lips pressed into a thin line before he lightly drew his thumb against your cheek, “i love her too.”

“then you tell her that.”

finnick resisted arguing back, knowing eyes were on them. he only nodded his head causing johanna to walk away, content enough to leave him alone.

you had finally woke ten minutes later, feeling as if you were dying from the way your stomach screwed up in a strange feeling of pain. you sat up quickly, breathing harshly before you felt hands lay on you gently, resting you back down with shushing noises.

“it’s alright, you’re okay,” finnick pressed his hand against your forehead before running it back through your hair, trying his best to calm you down. “you’re safe,” he whispered, his mouth close to your ear before pressing his lips gently to the side of your head.

“finnick,” you gasped lowly, reaching out for him before he took your hand, squeezing it reassuringly that he was there. “finnick, i’m so sorry, i didn’t mean to hurt you.”

he shushed you again, but in reassurance that your words were nonsense, “it’s okay,” he shook his head with a light tone, still stroking your hair, “it’s fine, love. okay?”

your cold hand reached up to cup his face, to which he leaned into, smiling softly, “i still love you,” you whispered, smoothing your thumb over his cheekbone, “i don’t care if snow kills me for it, i still love you.”

finnick smiled widely, feeling his heart put at ease before he leaned down, pressing his lips against yours while his hand caressed your face. he pulled away slowly before mumbling, “i love you too.”

hi, stranger. finnick odair x reader

summary: in which you strangely find finnick at a capitol party

warning/s: MAY BE CONFUSING, drinking, nsfw themes ig

slater’s note: i wanted to make this short and “sweet” so don’t hurt me

Hi, Stranger. Finnick Odair X Reader

he was scary when he was drunk.

no, not scary. he just worried you.

you didn’t notice him at first, and you, in the end, wish you hadn’t at all.

he was throwing back shots that were full of bright colors and intoxicated you almost immediately at sight with the way it ate at your stomach so fast.

you were only dancing.

but you both had the same intentions in the end.

with winning both your games and being so desired by everyone that breathed, snow took advantage and sold you to those of need and those who could pay.

but right then, as you laid eyes on finnick, and he laid eyes on you, it was as if a mutual agreement was made and the two of you blow off whoever capitol people you were sent to please.

you enjoyed his company.

he was always fun and his eyes ran with light despite being rundown in the heart.

you loved him, truly.

but it was wrong and you couldn’t love anyone within the capitol with how much risk it portrayed.

that’s why you were scared.

finnick got brave when his stomach was full of colorful drinks.

he didn’t care about anyone, and in that moment he only cared about you.

with that dress and your hair tied up and the makeup put on so lightly to bring out your best features.

he wanted you.

his hand touched yours, then your shoulder, and then your face. so gently, making your chest tighten and your eyes close softly as you felt safe for just one moment.

“i never see you anymore.”

“never knew you wanted to see me.”

“why wouldn’t i?”

you were scared.

he wasn’t.

“why don’t you let me kiss you?”

hearing his words made your eyes go wide.

sober you still felt trapped in fear of what president snow might do, of what could happen.

that’s why you swallowed drink after drink in hopes you could let that fear go.

“you don’t want to kiss me.”

he clasped your face, pressing his lips against yours so gently, you didn’t even know if it was real for your eyes were closed.

“i want you.”

his voice was low and his hand laid against your thigh.

“i’ve always wanted you since the moment you smiled at me.”

he had tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and before you knew it you were lying in his bed beneath his body.

he was gentle and you almost swore he loved you as his nimble fingers pressed against your hips and glided against your skin making your breathing go unsteady.

you swore he loved you.

promise.

pairings. finnick odair x fem!reader

about. finnick has been saving you ever since you’ve known him, but he can’t help you this time.

Promise.

warnings. murder, does not follow original plot, foul language?

ricky rocks. this is kind of an L fic because it's short, but i missed writing for bae.

“you were always the best. killing your brother like that on screen with no hesitation… indeed a performance, one of the best ever seen,” snow sat across from you, his voice calm and precise full of awe. “beautiful.”

he looked off, as if reminiscing about you on screen with blood coating your face and soaking your clothes from days on days of barbarism.

you clenched your jaw, pressing the tip of your tongue into the inside of your cheek as he spoke. your eyes meet the gravel ground of the greenhouse, thinking back to the hot nights and days that were filled with fear and no thoughts but to survive and kill.

your brother kept you safe for as long as he could, that was a mistake. you wish he would have ditched you to fend for yourself, but he stuck by your side like a leech, ultimately leading to his death.

him or you, and he wanted it to be you.

“i always thought you were so brilliant, even at such a young age,” you were twelve, he was seventeen. you were too young, you had life left to live, therefore you did not deserve to die. “and you grew up… wonderfully.”

“stop,” you shook your head, shook the memories and red images from your mind, “stop talking.”

he did. he leaned back, watching you think. watching you struggle within your own head to come back to reality, to find yourself again. he found it amusing, watching your skin crawl from where you sat.

“he’d be so proud of you: rafe,” he smiled at the visible sudden stiffness in your body. “everything you’ve came to be.”

“don’t say his name,” you shoved yourself up, hauling towards his seat. “you do not get to say his name.”

he shifts and you swear you see a look of uncomfortableness strike his eyes, looking you up and down, observing the anger that radiated off your skin. you wanted to kill him; you wanted him to feel pain.

“he is dead because of you. you don’t get to say his name when you don’t know what he went through. what i went through,” you were leaned over him, clenching your fists, clenching around a blade.

you wanted to kill him. you were going to kill him.

you pulled the silver knife from your sleeve, pushing it to his throat, “i want you to feel it.”

he smiled beneath the pain, his fine white teeth staining with red as blood seeped up from his throat, looking up to you, daring, not believing that you’d do it, “oh, y/n, if you couldn’t do it then, you can’t do it now.”

“watch me.”

**

he knew.

you didn’t know how but it seemed the moment you walked out of that greenhouse, his eyes were on you and he was tracking you down as you tried your best to get away from the scene, unnoticed—which didn’t work out.

“what’d he say to you?”

“does it matter?”

his body was practically shoved against yours as you tried your best to keep walking, hopefully toward an exit. but he was making it difficult, he always did, but you couldn’t blame him; you were a walking hazard when mad, especially now after the rebellion had fully absorbed panem.

everything was off and the sudden break from routine and fear of the capitol eyes watching you; it was weird and you couldn’t help but be weary of something bad happening.

“no,” he mumbled, grabbing onto your forearm to slow you and pull you away from other onlooking eyes, “but i would like to know what led to you having blood on your hand.”

you clenched your jaw hard as he now had your hand pulled up, showing the crimson colored liquid staining your hand. an aching feeling overcoming every part of your body as the look on finnick’s face begun to get to you, “don’t.”

“don’t what?” his voice was low, his eyes beginning to haunt you with a look asking you something that he wasn’t going to speak aloud; what have you done?

he couldn’t protect you from this. what you had just done, was not something to come back from. he couldn’t understand why. all you had to do was wait. just wait and the whole situation would have taken care of itself.

“he was going to die anyways,” you pulled your wrist from his grip, continuing to walk away, hoping he wouldn’t follow.

“it wasn’t your job to do it,” but of course, he strides after you. “it was planned, y/n, coin is not going to-”

“let me have this, finnick,” you turned fast to face him with anger still built up and ready to spill, “the only thing that they’re going to be mad about is the fact that they didn’t get a show like they’re always fucking given. including coin.”

“she’ll have your head.”

“she’ll stay away from me. coin is just as bad as snow, and you know it.”

he stayed silent, his eyes wandering from your face as he thought. you were right. the bombing at the capitol gates single handedly showed that coin was as power hungry as snow and it didn’t matter if it costed lives.

“i can’t save you from this.”

“i don’t need you to save me, finnick.”

lie. you both knew it.

since the day you met finnick he had been saving your ass, even if you didn’t need it.

many times from snow trying to profit off your body, many times in the eyes of aggressive capitol people and lurking faces, many times within the arena, and during the rebellion.

he kept watchful eyes on you ever since your youthful face replaced his prideful accomplishment of youngest winning victor of the hunger games.

“look, even if snow’s life ended the same, his killing was meant for a crowd,” his voice was a whisper as he pushed you slowly inside and against a wall. “it was going to be coin’s big introduction with katniss doing what she does best. you took that away, if she is anything like snow, you know that won’t go unpunished.”

“what’re you trying to say?”

“you need to leave.”

“then let go.”

he internally winced, wishing he could do more for you other than amp up your fight or flight reflexes. he didn’t want to leave you hanging, leave you to their jaws.

“finn,” you yanked at his sleeve lightly, “you need to let me go.”

his body hovered over you, seeming so out of it—drunk. his aroma was throwing you off, you just had to get away, because if you didn’t now, you probably wouldn’t anytime soon.

“promise me something then.”

you exhaled, blinking up through your lashes, “what?”

“live long enough to let me save you at least one more time?”

“no promises.”

nightmares in an empty house.

pairings. finnick odair x fem!reader

summary. after winning the games, you feel yourself going insane in victors village till a certain someone helps you cope

image

warnings. swearing, sexual themes

ricky rocks. this idea has been in my head for along time and i didn’t really do any of it justice 😕😭

the room smelt of bleach and cinnamon.

your hair was tied in a knot as you scoped out the entree way, dropping your luggage and belongings to the floor with the fall of your shoulders that were still tense and full of pressure in silent agony.

scoping, a lie. you hadn’t paid enough attention to consider your wandering eyes scoping. you were only trying your best to swallow whole of the situation you were presented in.. but it was like trying to swallow a whole jar of peanut butter at once; rather difficult.

you sighed, laying the palm of your cold, clammy hand upon your hot sweaty forehead, squinting at the rather bright kitchen, concealed by the dark entry way. with no lights on and no windows (aside from the small ones built into the door) you were left to the dark, allowing it to swallow you whole. and you allowed it, finally facing the fact and becoming content that you were finally and utterly alone.

you hadn’t been fully aware of it until now.

before, you used to be fully present within the close gathered district four, active and full of energy as you worked your ass off to make ends meet in order to stay afloat. you had made friends, acquaintances, and kissed more than you could count and only for it all to go down the drain.

you were secluded now. kept away from your old but happy nature, leaving you for the new one to take over without your own control. your new nature. that’s what it was. capitol parties, other victors, new acquaintances but never any friends because you could no longer see yourself get close with anyone. dresses, nice clothes, good food, riches, everything one could dream of was now open for grabs, all just for you. but you wanted none of it.

you traveled away from your luggage and out into the kitchen where you were hit with a flood of natural light seeping in through a wall of large windows all next to each other and giving you a view to your backyard of blue.

you swallowed thickly out of overwhelm before you heard the rather obvious sound of your front door opening. the cue coming from the rust old hinges that made you jump quickly, reaching for the knife you had tucked in the back pocket of your jeans.

you were frightful, that being the reason you had raised your knife so quickly to the person who entered into your kitchen without invitation, but the light soon revealed the face of finnick who was quick to throw his hands up in surrender once upon realization you had a dagger pointed in his direction.

“woah there, cowgirl,” you sighed, slightly rolling your eyes before dropping the blade down with the relaxation of your shoulders, cursing under your breath to his slight smile, “I see you’re settling in well.”

you scoffed, smiling in despair as you laid your hand on your forehead, just wanting to pass on right there. he could feel it; your hurt and your pain. it was something he was familiar with. so, so familiar that his own past distress begun to resonate within his chest. he hated it.

“i just wanted to leave this for you,” he coughed, trying to drag away from the awful silence that had consumed the two of you faster than he would have liked. he shifted on his feet, leaning toward the small island that was placed in the middle of your kitchen; setting down a white lily. “a house warming gift.”

he tried his best to give you a bright smile, but a thin lipped one came out instead; filled with sympathy. it made you frown harder. you hate sympathy smiles, especially finnicks and that seemed to be the only thing you’ve been getting from him lately.

“try to get some sleep tonight,” he pressed a soft kiss against the side of your head before turning around and withdrawing.

°•

he came back the next day.

you wanted to punch him due to him walking in out of nowhere and throwing your bedroom curtains open, allowing the bright sunlight to eat at the darkness and consume all corners of your bedroom.

“you okay?”

“i’m fine, i just…” you paused, pressing your lips together, trying to rid of the burning sensation that begun to pull at your eyes; tears. “i need you to um, go.”

his eyes lightly gazed over you from where he stood by the window, his face slightly hard and stern, thinking. the sight of you practically drowning in your sheets and pillows made you look innocent and sad.

“you need to get out of bed, sweetheart,” he took a seat on your plush mattress, his hand resting on your legs through the comforter. “let some fresh air in, you need it.”

“finn, please just leave me alone,” you pressed the palm of your hand to your head, rubbing your forehead. “i just want to lay here.”

“that’s not going to do anything good.”

“yeah, and how would you know,” you sniffed, clutching yourself—feeling so cold in your bones and soul, like your whole anatomy was being soaked in ice water. nothing felt right, you couldn’t think straight.

finnick’s tongue pushed into the inside of his cheek, resisting the urge to get annoyed, “i think i would know a little bit about surviving.”

you didn’t say anything. he thought about just walking and leaving you to your sleep, but he felt his chest tighten, knowing that he would have wanted someone there for him after his first games.

he got up from the bed, rounding over and leaning from the other side of the bed to where you laid. you finally saw his face and you wanted to immediately look away, a feeling of guilt and solum hitting your chest hard.

his hand grasped the back of your neck while his head dipped close toward yours, immerse you with his scent and warmth, “i know i’m probably the last person you want to see, but i’m here to help you. i promise.”

his warmth.

“help me sleep then,” you mumbled, not really thinking as your hand loosely grabbing onto his bicep and attempting to pull him closer despite the clear hesitation and resistance he held.

it felt wrong, and he didn’t want to violate a boundary, but with your hand still on his bicep, slowly falling to his hand, you were making things hard.

and he gave in, laying in your bed, right next to you.

°•

“you sure this is okay?”

oh how you didn’t know how this happened; finnick’s body pressed against yours in the foyer with nothing but good intentions that were just sinful.

“yes,” you pressed further into him, reaching for his lips with your own, hoping to drown everything else out, “just kiss me.”

he was hesitant, his eyes searching yours eagerly but he found nothing. your eyes were cold with sad outlines, making you look absent. he laid his rough palm against the side of your cheek, slowly easing his warmth onto you. he knew exactly what you felt, how lonely you were in your very own body and how desperate you were just for someone… someone’s touch and control just so you wouldn’t have to think for yourself.

your eyes fluttered shut and you once again attempt to lean in for a kiss. this time he kissed back, and it seemed like in hindsight, he needed you, not you needing him.

he wanted to make you feel better. wanted your mind to travel elsewhere oppose to where he knew it was exactly right at that moment. he felt it was his responsibility to bring you back stable, even if that required doing something far from right.

you needed help, he wanted to be that help. unfortunately, he was the wrong kind of assistance you actually needed.

his lips cluttered your face, pressing soft kisses that made your stomach twist and turn with what felt like bliss. your head dropped against the back of the wall, small exhales filling the air till you were practically whimpering with his mouth on your neck, his hands grasping every bit of you that he could.

“finn, i need you,” your fingers laced within his hair while you openly spoke without another thought, “please.”

and it was all he needed.

even if he couldn’t take away the nightmares, he could try to take your pain away for just a second.

the only thing that matters.

pairings. finnick odair x fem!reader

about. finnick is the only one to have ever gotten past your quiet and stoic shell, but neither of you think it’s for the good.

The Only Thing That Matters.

warnings. eh idk

ricky rocks. the hunger games series is honest to god one of the best to ever touch screens.

johanna hated watching you and finnick. it killed her.

since day one, johanna, like all of the others were closely fixated on you and every move you made. you were alluring solely due to the fact that you were silent and completely detached from the destruction of your reality. there was a large admiration for you and whether it was due to your great skill in combat or ability to keep an unwavering face when under the worse of pressure, no one could choose. you were a mystery.

johanna couldn’t figure you out; not for the life of her, and it was absolutely frustrating. especially when her greatest competition did.

of course. of fucking course it was finnick. she wasn’t surprised the more she thought about it—finnick could get anybody to talk. so of course it had to be him who would unravel you like a ball of yarn.

he was prying, and had no problem with being a pest if that meant he got what he wanted—and he always got what he wanted.

it was astounding to say the least.

“they’re sickening aren’t they?” katniss almost jumped at johanna’s jarring words that interrupted the silence.

it took her a moment to realize that the girl was talking about you and finnick and johanna had caught her staring.

“i don’t know… i think it’s interesting,” katniss bit the inside of her cheek as she watched finnick smile genuinely while watching you speak. the two of you were the only thing keeping the group from not seeming depressive. “they seem like polar opposites and yet this is the first time i have ever seen her smile… and it’s because of him.”

once you had gotten out of the blood rain with johanna, crossing paths with katniss and finnick and the rest of their group—you had begun to clean yourself off in the water before finnick had dunked you with reunition. there was no reason, and katniss had thought you would kill him once you came back up, but there you had been; gut laughing, trying to catch your breath while also attempting to return the favor.

johanna chuckles, “he’s a fucking dickhead for that,” she tsks, shaking her head, still watching the two of you, “but i guess it’s sweet in some fucked up way. both found each other amidst of all… this.”

she hated watching the two of you, because it reminded her of something she couldn’t have, something she lost, and something the two of you could so fastly lose as well with any wrong step.

“this is where we finally die, isn’t it?” your eyes watch the calm waves as they slowly wash up further onto the shore, just enough to kiss your feet.

your words make finnick narrow his brows, almost frowning real hard as he looks over to you. you feel distant, out of body and too far for him to reach and yet you were more than close. he feels uneasy at the tone of your voice, like you were almost ready to give up.

“far from it…” he slightly tips his head to look at your face, but he sees nothing, receives nothing despite his hope that you’d be in touch and full of emotion like all other times the two of you have been together. “hey, why?”

his hand holds your shoulder, almost reaching for your face, but you meet his eyes before he could further do so. the concern melted into his face made you inhale sharply, feeling slightly bad for causing the borderline stress in his eyes, “finn, i didn’t mean it… like that.”

“you ready to give up on me?” his eyebrows raise, trying to curve his lips in a accustomed smirk, but you can still see the worry.

“not yet,” you shook your head, almost scoffing as you look back out to the sun sinking into the trees, “just thinking.”

“think more logically, y/n,” he settles more comfortably and over the panic, using his index finger to lightly you tap on the side of your cheekbone. “if i die, who’s going to be your friend? keep you alive?”

you rolled your eyes, mumbling, “we both know i’m more than capable keeping myself alive.”

“we do,” it wasn’t the answer he was looking for. “but outside of the games, what’re you going to do with yourself?”

you shook your head at his silly scenarios, now looking to him with something he didn’t like, “we just try to die together then.”

“she’s the only thing he cares about,” johanna stares harder than katniss was, watching the way his hand clasps the back of your neck while pulling you closer to him. “truly.”

“this is unlike you. since when is death a concern to you?”

“since i met you,” you purse your lips, almost in shame that an obvious dent was made in your principles when you met finnick. “you make me feel so helpless.”

he chuckles, shaking his head at the words coming from your mouth that some could find offense in, “oh, i know you love me.” but it was finnick, and he knew your meaning behind them and he knew exactly how you felt.

before, you were both considered some of the capitols top killers with nothing to lose. but now, everything seemed to not be in your favor the moment you met each other. you had everything to lose now and you both knew it.

“we’ll be the death of each other, y/n.”

Winter was in full force, with harsh winds that nipped at your skin. Not even the fireplace could fend off, let alone the fluffy covers that you’ve layered upon your shared bed. Perhaps it was the cold chill in the air that prevented sleep from capturing you, or maybe it was something else entirely… you decide to not let your mind wander to what that could possibly be.

You sit up wrapping your cotton shawl around your shoulders tightly as your eyes scan across your room, dimly lit by the small sliver of moonlight that peaks behind the curtains and stretches across the floor trailing along the wall.

Finnick doesn’t stir with your movement which means he must be exhausted because he’s often a light sleeper, although you’re not surprised with the busy day he’s had. You smile softly down at him, the way his cheek is smushed against the soft pillow. You gently push his hair away from his closed eyes as you admire him, you’re glad he’s found comfort beside you.

The thought crosses your mind to wake him up, he’s always told you that if you can’t sleep to wake him up, he wouldn’t mind. But looking at him now, you just can’t bring yourself to do it, you’d feel far too guilty.

Instead, you decide to make your way to the kitchen, but not before putting on a pair of thick socks, after all, the tiled floor always felt much colder in the dead of night. Perhaps a warm drink would help lull you to sleep? You think to yourself as you fill the kettle.

You cringe slightly as the water begins to boil, squeezing your eyes shut at the sudden loud noise. Finnick had brought all types of different teas with the hope that one of them might help you get a good night's rest, he’d do anything if it meant you were happy.

You remember when he brought them home, two whole bags full of boxes with different kinds of ‘sleep treatments’ it brought tears to your eyes.

Finnick was always sweet to you, it shows in the way he looks at you, the way he holds you, and the sweet nothings he whispers to you whenever you feel down. You start to miss him, even though he’s only in your shared bedroom, the room next to the kitchen, fast asleep.

You pour the hot water into the small ceramic mug, the same one Peeta had gifted you as a congratulations for your engagement, he had hand painted them, beautiful flowers that swirl around the cup.

Soon enough the sweet smell of the tea reaches you, soothing the restless feeling that builds up within your chest. You take a small sip of the warm beverage as Finnick wanders through the kitchen, eyes heavy with sleep.

“It’s freezing out here honey” his voice is rough despite the softness of his tone, exhaustion hangs on his every word. he shuffles closer to you, bringing his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him as if he’s trying to protect you from the chill that lingers within the air.

A sigh falls from your lips when he presses a kiss to your forehead, his hands soothing against your back as you rest against him. Even in the safety of his arms the guilt still bubbles up within you, “Did I wake you up?” You ask, pushing your face against his shoulder.

“No, was already awake” he’s lying but you decide not to fight him on it, far too distracted by the warmth of his hands as they slip underneath your shirt, fingers splaying across your lower back. “Can’t sleep without you anyway” he says, pulling back to get a better look at you, the truth of his words are shown through his eyes.

“M’sorry” you mumble into the soft fabric of his shirt, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me” The words come out much heavier than you’d like and it strikes a cord within Finnick, one that pinches his heart.

He tuts softly as he leans back slightly, holding your chin with his finger and thumb. “Hey,” he whispers, tilting your head to look at him. His eyes immediately soften as yours find his, “Don’t apologise, honey, it’s what I’m here for, yeah?” He smiles, seeming more awake than he was just mere minutes ago.

“I know, I just- I don’t want to be too much” The words feel silly as they escape your lips but your chest feels lighter for it. You know deep down you shouldn’t feel like this, Finnick has never made you feel anything but loved.

“Too much?” He repeats after you as if you had just said something that had completely baffled him, and it did. “There’s no such thing, sweetness,” he tells you, pressing a gentle kiss to the corner of your mouth. “I love you- so much” he whispers against your lips before kissing you, not letting your mind wander elsewhere for even a second.

“I love you too Finn” you exhale, eyes closing as he rests his forehead against your own, your noses bumping against each others slightly.

“Come on, it’s warmer in bed,” he says, unwrapping his arms from around you as he picks up the tea you had made, “I got this, you go get into bed honey” he smiles and you know better than to fight him on it, so you do as he says, climbing back into the cosy bed with Finnick following shortly behind you.

He hands you the warm beverage before joining you, his hand slipping into your own as you take small sips of your drink. He talks about the market, how they're starting to sell that one specific seasonal bread you like, and he even begins to make plans for the weekend with you. his voice clams your nerves, it brings peace.

"Thank you, Finnick" you whisper, resting your head against his shoulder as he pulls the blankets over your legs.

He brings your hand up to his lips, pressing soft kisses to your knuckles, “Always for you” he says, voice heavy with sleep once again. You set your mug on the bedside table before turning back to him, and for the first time tonight, you start to feel yourself drift off as you lay in his arms.

Finnick could admire you forever without wanting anything, study every ‘imperfection’ and fall even more in love with you. He would pour his heart out to you right now if he wasn’t so tired so instead he settles for a simple, “G’night beautiful” with love dripping from his tone, and soon enough you both find sleep.

{You and Peeta bake… more or less}

It’s short and sweet, Enjoy my lovelies! 💕

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆

The sun was beginning to set, its warm orangey light stretches over the horizon and filters through the kitchen window, peaking through the curtains as Peeta works the dough under his palms. You were meant to be helping, but instead, you stood admiring him as he works under the warm evening sun, the light dusting against his skin.

Peeta can feel your eyes on him, and he smiles to himself turning to you. “Are you gonna help me, or just keep ogling at me?” He chuckles as he continues to knead the dough under his palms.

You scoff shaking your head as you snap out of your trance. “I was not ogling… I was admiring there’s a huge difference” you tell him, flicking some of the flour up at him as he tries to dodge it. You reach over to pick up another pinch of flour but his hip nudges against yours, pushing you away gently as you giggle.

“Hey… there are rules to the kitchen you know?” He says, looking over at you as his blond hair falls just above his eye, you reach over to push his soft locks away and he gives you an appreciative smile.

You frown softly, deciding to humour him. “Oh yeah, and what are the rules?” You ask, watching him as he washes his hand before turning back to you.

“Well for one… no ogling at the baker and secondly no throwing ingredients” he smirks as you roll your eyes shaking your head softly, he picks the dough up carefully placing it in the bread pan.

There’s a comforting atmosphere that blankets over the pair of you, it’s in the smell of the freshly baked bread and the way Peeta looks at you. It’s everywhere hidden within the walls of the house and stored in the pictures that are displayed.

You stand beside Peeta as he washes up the dishes while you dry them. “Could you get that baby?” He asks softly, his hands still scrubbing the bowls as he nods down to his sleeve that has fallen down to his forearm, you reach over to pull it back up to his elbow and he whispers a small ‘thank you’

The pair of you finish up with the dishes, waiting for the bread to finish cooking. The pair of you sit on the sofa. Your head rests against his shoulder as you lean into his warm touch. His hand slips into yours, and his thumb caresses your palm gently. It’s hard to fight the sleep that creeps upon you, especially since he’s warm and gentle, everything about him soothes you.

“Don’t fall asleep angel” he whispers, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he feels your body lean further into him. His hand soothes against your arm, trying to keep you awake, but it has the complete opposite effect.

“M’not… I’m wide awake” you mumble, sleep lacing through your tone and Peeta can’t help but chuckle. Before he can respond the timer is ringing from the kitchen, and the smell of bread travels through the house.

Peeta stands up, stretching slightly before looking back at you. “Stay awake for me baby” he says as you sit up giving him an unconvincing nod before he disappears into the kitchen.

It doesn’t take long for him to come back with a plate of warm golden bread. He places it on the coffee table, breaking a piece off before handing it to you, with a hopeful look that flashes through his eyes as he watches you take a bite.

“It’s perfect… as always” you smile, reaching over to take another piece of the sweet-tasting bread.

“You know there’s another rule to the kitchen,” Peeta says, sitting down next to you on the sofa with a knowing look.

There’s a soft smirk that adorns your lips as you turn to him, raising your eyebrows slightly. “Mhm… and what’s that?” you ask.

“You gotta pay the baker” he smiles and you roll your eyes, shaking your head softly as you whisper. “Right of course how could I forget” leaning to press a gentle kiss to his lips, his hand resting against your cheek as his fingertips graze along your jaw.

You can’t help but smile against his lips, breaking the kiss as he pulls away with a soft look in his eyes… as if you were everything he ever needed and truth be told you were.

{Finnick says those three special words}

He’s so boyfriend! 💕 enjoy my lovelies

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆

The sun is setting, casting hues of pink and orange that shimmer along the ocean water. It’s a mesmerising sight that you can’t seem to stop looking at, despite the fact that you and Finnick come to this beach almost everyday.

He watches you with a soft smile, his heart hammering inside his chest at the way the afternoon sun kisses your skin making you glow in the most prettiest of ways. His eyes take in the shape of your lips and the curve of your nose. He’d study you for hours upon hours if you’d let him.

“You’re staring” You smile, turning your head to the side to look at him. His face reddens slightly with embarrassment, trying to cover it up with a smirk.

“I’m just enjoying the view” He replies with a playful wink, chuckling at the way you roll your eyes.

The sea ripples at your ankles as you dig your fingers through the sand looking for seashells. You have a small collection consisting of only three shells; one for the time you and Finnick went on your real first date, another for the day he got reaped and one for when he came back from winning his games.

All of them are different shapes, colours and sizes sitting neatly on your bedside table. They were the only things that got you through the days where he was gone, the memories of him live through the groves of the shells and the sound of the sea that’s trapped within them.

“This one… this one is perfect” You tell him holding up the small shell. It’s chipped slightly at the top but besides from that, it’s in great shape. You hold the shell up to his eyes nodding your head softly.

Finnick frowns ever so slightly, eyebrows pulled together in confusion as he watches you press the seashell up to the side of his face. “What are you doing?” He chuckles softly looking over at your hand.

“It matches your eye colour” You whisper as you study the different shades of greens and blues, how some are darker and lighter in areas and how they come together to mimic his eyes.

Finnick thinks you might’ve just broken him, the teasing words die on his tongue and suddenly he’s finding it hard to breathe.

“You’re gonna add it to your collection?” He grins softly as you nod, making a comment about how you’re gonna start a shrine dedicated to him and he doesn’t bother hiding the blush that dusts his cheeks.

He does the same thing, his eyes glancing up to yours and then to the sandy floor in search of a seashell. He picks up one, then another and holds them up to your eyes, his warm hand grazing against your cheek as he does so.

“You’re so beautiful” He whispers, taking notice of how the sunlight hits your eyes. You tilt your chin down to your chest as a breathless giggle falls from your lips and Finnick wastes no time in holding your jaw gently, making you look up at him.

“Why’re you shying away from me honey?” He smirks and you curse him silently because he knows damn well what he’s doing to you, especially when his thumb begins to soothe against your cheek and the space just under your eye.

“I’m not shying away” You breathe glancing down at the seashells that lay in his palm. “Have you found a match yet?” You ask before he can continue with his teasing.

Finnick looks down at the shells with a smile. “Hmm?… oh yeah, this one” He says as he hands you the seashell that matches your eye colour, it twists into a cone and the end is chipped off.

They both sit in the palm of your hand, one that resembles his and one that resembles yours, and there’s something about it that melts him, the thought that no matter what happens you’ll always have a reminder of him.

“I’m gonna add them to my collection” You smile as his eyes meet yours, full of love, an overwhelming feeling that bleeds into his chest and he just can’t seem to get enough of.

The words fall so effortlessly from his lips and he doesn’t hide away from them. “I love you” It’s such a simple declaration but the way he says it takes you back. His tone is soft but passionate, dripping with affection. A soft gasp escapes you as the words linger in the air.

Before Finnick can even begin to question himself you’re already wrapping your arms around his shoulders, hugging him tightly. “I love you too Finn” You whisper against his neck, the smell of sea salt lingers in his hair.

It’s all he’s ever wanted and more, stored in those special words and now he’s said it once he’s never going to stop. He rests his forehead against yours, his hand against your cheek as he kisses you softly, noses bumping against each other’s slightly.

“I love you so much” He says once more, against your lips with a smile. You whisper the words back in between sweet kisses that soon taper off, breaking slowly as the pair of you smile uncontrollably. He glances down at the shells in your hand, the same ones that’ll sit on your bedside table for years to come.

-Katniss Everdeen x Reader

{Katniss returns home to you after a long day of hunting and you clean her up}

I need to write more for her. Enjoy my lovelies💕

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺

The herbal smell of venison stew dances through the air pleasantly as the pot simmers on low heat on the stove, bubbling ever so slightly whilst you potter around the kitchen. You hum a soft tune, a song that Katniss had gently whispered against your shoulder as she soothed you from a nightmare last night.

You had to convince her three times over before she finally left to go hunting today. Katniss didn’t like leaving you alone on a good day, let alone after what happened the night before.

It left a bitter taste in her mouth and an ache in the pit of her stomach that she couldn’t seem to shake. She knew you’d be fine, tucked away in the depths of the forest. Warm and safe in the small cabin you both call home, but it still doesn’t make her worry any less.

Maybe that explains why every time she comes back home there’s a small sigh of relief that passes through her lips. Her face immediately softens at the sight of you as you walk over to her, helping her to take off her coat.

“Smells good,” Katniss smirks as you thumb her cheek, rubbing away whatever stains her skin. Her eyes flutter close ever so slightly at the feeling of your soft hands.

She kicks off her boots, not wanting to track mud into the small house. “Thank you, I used the last bit of deer.” You tell her and she nods softly with a hum of acknowledgement.

You lean forward to press a kiss against her cheek, the scent of the outside lingers in her hair and against her skin. It’s something you’ve come to love, a certain sense of comfort you’ve found within it.

Katniss sits down at the kitchen table with a soft sigh, running her fingers across the grazes on her palms with a frown. You notice this, your eyebrows pulled together in worry as your gaze flickers to her sore palms and then to her face.

The sound of a gasp that comes from you makes her look up. Her eyes find yours as your hand gently cups her face, fingers curling around her jaw.

“What happened?” The softness in your tone burns away her bad mood as you take in the sight her the scrape under her chin, red sore and slightly bleeding. See, she had tripped over a tree root that was hidden beneath the fallen, trodden leaves which blanketed the forest floor with colours of orange, yellows to browns.

But Katniss would never admit this, never. “Nothing… just you know, it’s rough out there this time of year.” She murmurs, glancing down at her palms with a slight twinge of embarrassment flashing through her face.

It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together, the grazes on her palms and underneath her chin. It’s clear what had happened… you’d save her from the embarrassment, for now.

“Looks rough, you really banged yourself up.” You have to bite back the giggle that bubbles within your throat when she shoots you a glare. Although, she’s not really mad at you, how could she be?

Especially when you press such a sweet kiss against her jaw and the way your thumb soothes against her knuckles. “Yeah… yeah.” She mumbles with a small smirk.

You take the first aid kit from the cupboard above the sink before sitting down beside her at the kitchen table. Katniss’ eyes never leave you, watching the way your soft hands take hers. You look down at the grazes on her palms, gently wiping away the dried blood and dirt with an alcohol wipe.

“Does it hurt?” You ask, doing the same to her other palm that was a little worse. She shakes her head, her cheeks a little rosy from how gently you’re handling her.

She’s not used to it, even after all this time. It’s addictive, the sweetness of you that leaves her stomach feeling all fluttery.

“No… no it’s fine.” She promises as a small smile adorns her lips, her expression softening.

“Good. Look up for me, love.” You tilt her head upwards gently, your hand cupping the nape of her neck so you can get a better look at the scrape under her chin.

With a soft 'tut' you begin to gently clean the small cut with the last alcohol wipe before pressing a kiss to the underside of her jaw, and you can’t help but smirk at the way her breath hitches ever so slightly.

Katniss looks back at you, an appreciative expression settles against her face. “Thank you.” She whispers.

“Anytime, clumsy pants.” You can’t help it and honestly, Katniss doesn’t mind, despite the huff that escapes her. The sound of your giggle makes it all better, she’d do anything to hear that sound.

“Go get washed up… dinner is almost ready.” You tell her, your lips meeting hers as you both share a loving kiss. It’s soft yet desperate as if she had waited all day just for this.

The kiss tapers off into small pecks, ones that are just as loving. “Okay, I'll be quick...” She whispers breathlessly, her cheeks dusted with a stubble pink colour as she disappears off into the bathroom.
