Yeastward

You’re on an epic journey to make the best damn sandwich anyone has ever had. Oh and an ancient evil is rising once more after 1,000 years of slumber (but that’s a little less important to you).

The concept for this game came from a conversation with some coworkers and the realization that at almost very job I’ve had, I’ve been a sandwich maker (over 10 years worth of experience). And with my love for RPGs, I thought:

“Wouldn’t it be funny if there was an RPG where your whole quest was to make a sandwich but everyone else thought you were off to slay an evil overlord?”

And thus, the idea for this game was born.

The Plot: There’s a festival coming up in your kingdom and you plan on entering your best sandwich ever in the cooking competition. At the same time, Lord Efaba has been reawakened after being sealed away for 1,000. Your King addresses the crowd during a public announcement if there is anyone brave enough to go slay the beast. And you, because you were too distracted thinking about what you’d be doing for the competition, call out that you will do it (when I’m reality, you were simply talking to yourself).

Your Character: Customizable appearance at the start but your class will always remain as a cook. You work at a local tavern ran by an old man named Walter (gruff and grouchy most of the time but you know he’s very caring about his patrons). You enjoy cooking and learning about new dishes, not afraid to try out new things. Often experimenting with different flavours, you don’t always get it right the first time but it’s doesn’t deter you from trying again.

The Cook Class: This class allows you to create dishes using items from your inventory for both offence (elemental damage and debuffs) or defence (healing and buffs). This class allows for versatility as you can take up a more defensive, offensive, or mixed role to suit your needs. You’ll still be able to do melee attacks but your dishes allow you to deal more damage with the added element bonus for some. Note: While there is more than just the five basic types of taste (salty, sweet, umami, bitter, and sour), research has been a little inconclusive as to what the other types there are. So for now, I will only be including the six that are the most recognizable.

Spicy: Fire-based Damage | Attack Effected

Salty: Earth-based or Water-based Damage | Magic Effected

Sweet: Paralysis or Blindness Effect | Speed Effected

Sour: Silence Effect/Lightning-Based Damage | M.Defence Effected

Savoury/Umami: Sleep Effect | Defence Effected

Bitter: Poison Effect | Luck Effected

The Party: There’s a whole cast of characters to choose as your party members, some with the same job but with different personalities. Although it’s not required to obtain a good ending, you can either romance someone yourself or play matchmaker (and of course, there’d be options to simply have people become friends if you aren’t interested in romance). Some characters will be available just by asking them, others might need a side-quest to unlock them first.

Genre: It’s a mostly fantasy with the classic rpg elements that you’ve come to know and love. And while it’s an adventure, there’ll be plenty of comedic moments as this game is mostly a joke itself. And just as a warning, there will be adult humour as well. The example below is for a boss you’ll face in the game for the vegetables you’ll need for your sandwich.

Enters the lair of the voluptuous evil boss

“Damn, those are some nice melons!”

Pans over to a watermelon patch

“Thanks! I grew them myself!”

There’s plenty of other things I can explain but that can be saved for a latter time. But here are some small fun tidbits of information that I thought of as well.

Lord Efaba is an anagram of Bread Loaf 🍞

When you sleep at the inn, your character also writes a letter to Walter

Each main boss can either be defeated by fighting them or through other means (but this won’t effect the ending very much, it’s mostly for fun and flavour)

Most of your party members think you’re off to slay Lord Efaba, only one actually knows that’s not true but plays along for the fun of it (which they’ll tell you at the end of the game)

Your character is willing to put almost anything and everything into their mouth, much to the horror (or entertainment) of some of your party members

“I wonder what this is?”

“Don’t put that in your mouth! It’s poisonous!”

“Yeah but like…how poisonous?”

“Try it and find out~”

“NO!”

Yours [Prim/Cato] (on Wattpad) https://my.w.tt/SlWoWrucf4 Cato Hadley. Those two words alone make my heart jump into the sky and fly into the universe, and it would take a whole millennia for my heart to come back to earth in my chest. Obviously, everyone thought that we were impossible. But, we weren't. And he proved that to me. ----------------- I know that in the original HG, Cato was 16 year…

If you don't mind my asking, You play a lot of games right??, which are your favs, you'd rec to everybody and everyone, I'm on the hunt for some games to play and you have good taste so I thought I'd ask

You think I have good taste? Why, gorsh...😳

Jokes aside, I do play video games quite regularly! I don't think I'm the biggest gamer (I have a shitty laptop, so it's not like I'm playing newly-released AAA games), but I do have some that I'm very fond of, so here are some of my faves, some well known ones, some hidden gems:

Ace Attorney - The game I played when I was 13 and completely changed the trajectory of my life. Visual novel-like game were you play a defense lawyer and make your way through court to prove your client's innocence. A CLASSIC, the characters are amazing, the stories are fantastic, and god the MUSIC. Game of All Time for me (The Ace Attorney trilogy is where I'd start, but there are many more in the series, The Great Ace Attorney being a prequel duology that can be played individually and is also incredible).

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Zero Escape - A trilogy of games about...hm. Well, it's like a bunch of people get kidnapped and put into these locked rooms, and they have to escape. It gets WAY crazier than that, but if you like puzzles, escape rooms, and insane twists, you'll definitely like these.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Not For Broadcast - A hilarious and dark FMV simulation game where you are tasked with editing a news broadcast, censoring swear words, picking the best shots, and basically manipulating what ends up on TV. This game is a MASTERPIECE, I cannot stress that enough. It is wonderfully acted, the characters are so memorable, the plot can get real dark...it's one of my most cherished gaming experiences, and I could not reccommend it enough.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Suzerain - A text-based, decision making, political simulator where you take the role of Anton Rayne, Sordland's newest president. Save the country from recession, rewrite the country's old constitution, or hell, maybe start a war! This game is delightful, and if you're daunted by the extensiveness of most sim games, don't be, because this is super intuitive and easy to get the hang of. The worldbuilding is fascinating, and the characters are lovable and fun!

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Her Story - An unconventional one, but so fascinating. It's another FMV game, where you're presented with a police database full of interview videos from an old case. They're not in any particular order, though, it's up to you to make sense from it! A bit of a haunting game (it's not a horror game, don't worry), I totally reccommend experiencing it.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Return of the Obra Dinn - Jesus, another masterpiece. It's a first-person mystery game where you play as an insurance inspector exploring an old ship that has reappeared with nobody alive onboard. It's your task to discover the fate of all its crewmembers. I cannot tell you how incredible this game is, it's a big logic puzzle with an amzing atmosphere and an unforgettable experience.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

Papers, Please - I feel like everybody has played PP already, but if you haven't, oh boy go get it! Made by the same guy that made Obra Dinn, you play here as a border checkpoint immigration officer, checking people's passports and documents to see who gets to enter the glorious country of Arstotzka. One of indie games' best, truly. If you can get it on a touch screen, even better.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

The Case of the Golden Idol - If you enjoyed Return of the Obra Dinn, then you have to play Golden Idol as well. Kind of a detective-y, puzzle-y game where you search for clues on different scenes, which you then use to solve the mystery of what really happened. Hard to explain, but a joy to play through and solve!

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

The Darkside Detective - A fun as hell point-and-click detective game where you join Detective McQueen and Officer Dooley on some spooky, supernatural mysteries. Hilarious, filled with witty references and jokes, and with a dynamic duo that will make you fall in love with them (and their silly, blank faces). It's got a sequel, too!

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

We. The Revolution - This game sent me on a rabbit hole about the French Revolution, and it was so fun. You play here as a judge of the Revolutionary Tribunal during--you guessed it--the French Revolution. Make decisions about the cases that are brought before you, immerse yourself in the history of France (and talk to many of the key figures!), and hell, maybe even give it your own spin! Super fun, and has a gorgeously unique arstyle.

If You Don't Mind My Asking, You Play A Lot Of Games Right??, Which Are Your Favs, You'd Rec To Everybody

I think that's good for now, hopefully you'll find something here that's to your taste! Happy gaming!

I’m working on a massive list of all the media I’ve consumed in my almost 25 years of life and will post a link to it here once it’s done. But if anyone’s curious as to roughly what I’m into feel free to ask in the comments

since tumblr cut off some of my tags, I should probably put the stuff that was lost here:

The one, and probably only, benefit of starting off in Yu-Gi-Oh, is that wherever you go, it is *very* hard to get confused by game rule bullshit. It doesn't make you less pissed, but you can at least say "it could be worse", and mean it, when your players ask if you can wavedash in your DnD campaign.

I love the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG because it sounds something that a person who doesn't know much about TCGs would make up in order to parody the medium. Like, what if there was a TCG that hated keywording and just stuck a full paragraph of rules on the card whenever a slightly complicated effect comes up, except it has no editorial consistency, so seemingly standardised effects may in fact have multiple variants with subtly different wording which causes each variant to resolve completely differently in specific edge cases? And also, judges' rulings at major tournaments are considered to be precedent-setting for future tournaments even if their conclusions are not subsequently incorporated into the rules, like some sort of TCG Supreme Court, but the lack of keywording and inconsistent phrasing mean that whether a given ruling on card A applies to card B is based on a subjective assessment of "substantial similarity" which is, itself, subject to precedent-setting rulings, such that knowing with certainty what a card actually does may require a complete knowledge of its history of use in tournament play? That'd be fucked up, right? Just kidding, it's not hypothetical at all – it's fucking Yu-Gi-Oh.
