this post sent me on a babs rabbit hole bc i've really never thought about him much other than things like "ew"
anyways here's naberius tern (harry styles' version (walmart version))
p.s. I know it doesn't look exactly like harry-- I just briefly referenced him while sketching
best part of the locked tomb is if it was ANY other story naberius would be the number one guy. he’s a prince and somehow also a bodyguard and he’s a gifted fighter and devoted to the princesses and he has swoopy hair and dreamy eyes and no one gives a shit, because they’re all married/gay/focused on the actual plot. naberius is the lost love interest from a shitty ya fantasy novel that culminates in a love triangle between him, corona, and silas. this man is harry styles in a room full of lesbians
babs but like he's loosely based on harry styles because I saw a post abt it
the thing that convinces me that the third house is placed on neptune, besides the obvious imagery, e.g trident knife, is the mention that they actually know how to swim.
and neptune is an ice giant made up of water.
in hindsight i am aware this is pretty stretchy considering there's salt water pool on ninth who's resources had been diminishing for the last fuck knows years but still.
argument: water imagery. and trident knife. nobody else was ditching clothes for a swim except babs and corona.
counterargument: yeah, probably because of no one else brought swimwear.
argument: but why did they bring it?? i am pretty sure nothing in the summons indicated that there will be a pool in the canaan house.
counterargument: the third house known for its lavishness. they certainly do things purely for dramatics there. bringing swimwear just in case probably wouldn't be the most weird thing to do for them.

things that make me feral about the third house:
the neptune imagery (trident knife, the pool scene)
their specialty in necromancy (eating pieces of flesh to convert it into necromancy? sick)
the titles of their house (the mouth of emperor? invokes their school of necromancy AND their role as spies. the house of the shining dead? terrifying imagery and another tie in for their necromancy. the procession? no idea what could that mean but still cool)
the insane way their necromantic abilities are used to shape everything (babs had to be the perfect cav, so he became the perfect cav? fucked up on so many levels. the way his actual physique can be attributed to the requirements of the duelling? mind-blowing)
the funeral in the unwanted guest if we assume that's the actual procedure that happens there (and do y'all think about why ianthe chose the opening scene to be her own funeral?)
