This is kind of a weird thing for me to throw while theres the whole "Timothy vs Melanie 2: electric boogaloo" situation going on but ive noticed that the melanie fandom kinda works like a cult, im not saying that as a joke here.
Im not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here but the fanbase sure has a lot of manipulation tbh, if anyone who knows more about cults could maybe talk to me about this lemme know but i think i might have figured out why the fanbase is so shitty.

the whole thing is basically Melanie creates songs glorifying trauma so kids who experienced trauma use the songs to cope
then whenever an allegation comes out the older fans manipulate the younger fans into thinking its false
and because melanie “cant do no wrong” the fans chase the person off the internet
making false apologies for them and creating fake screenshots of them doing bad stuff to ruin their reputations so they can stay in denial
and keep worshipping melanie martinez while ignoring everything shes done
and when i say “worshipping” i actually mean it like its parasocial on a whole new level that k-pop fans could only dream of
in my personal opinion thats some very cult-like stuff to me
