Jomies Headcanons!

(Because I like seeing other people’s headcanons, so I wanted to share my own.)

💛Jake’s the token pretty boy of the group.

🖤Drew’s the only one with actual relationship experience. The rest haven’t even had their first kiss yet.

💚Henry’s very accident prone. All four have decided that if anyone were to get accidentally hit by a bus, it’d be him.

❤️Liam cannot be left out in the sun for longer than 5 minutes without sunscreen.

💛Jake’s a sucker for romance movies and love songs.

🖤Drew listens to Olivia Rodrigo and Mitski as guilty pleasures.

💚Henry listens to J-Pop and Vocaloid songs. Drew does not like them.

❤️Liam and Henry are saving up to see a Vocaloid concert. Liam’s mostly doing it for Henry’s sake.

💛Jake used to have braincells at the start of Freshman year. Then he started hanging out with Henry and Liam.

🖤Drew is the only one with a braincell.

💚Henry cannot handle horror movies.

❤️Liam likes taking random photos of his friends without saying anything, leading to terrible photos of the four of them taking up most of his gallery. (They all remind him of the memories they shared together, so he keeps them.)

💛Jake is considered boring by the others for preferring water over other drinks.

🖤Drew and Henry run off energy drinks.

💚Liam and Henry are always arguing about which flavor’s better: cherry or blue-raspberry. (Henry also refuses to refer to blue-raspberry by name, and instead calls it the blue flavor.)

❤️Liam’s a soda addict.

💛The four of them like watching bad anime together just to make fun of it.

🖤The four also have way too much fun trolling kids on Roblox.

💚Henry and Liam are basically a married couple.

🩵Hailey spends several hours scrolling through Pinterest.

💜Zander has a massive black cat plushie hidden away in his room.

🧡Luke has about 200 hours in Animal Crossing, and is emotionally attached to all his villagers.

🩷Milly shops at Hot Topic.

💙Sean tends to keep his headphones on during class, and only catches about half of what the teacher says.

🩵Hailey had a horse girl phase, while Zander’s always been terrified of horses.

💜Zander braided Hailey’s hair a lot when they were younger.

🧡Luke has an entire photo album full of pipctures he took of Zander.

🩷Milly had a dragon phase.

💙Sean’s considered the father of the group, as well as the group therapist.

🩵Hailey and Milly paint each other’s nails.

💜Zander has a habit of stealing the bathroom for hours on end just to make sure he looks his best. He’s very particular about his appearance, especially about his hair.

🧡Luke’s hair is usually pretty messy, but it’s always in an aesthetic way. None of the other club members know how he does it.

🩷Milly refuses to wear skirts.

💙Sean has a terrible sleep schedule due to balancing work, school, and club activities. His parents constantly arguing doesn’t help much either, which leads to him passing out sometimes during club meetings. Usually, the group tends to let him rest.

🩵Hailey loves blueberry lemonade.

💜Zander drinks grape juice out of wine glasses to feel sophisticated.

🧡Luke has a stash of grape juice at his house specifically for Zander.

🩷Milly’s really good at Hip-Hop styled dance. She’s tried to get Sean to do TikTok dances with her, and it usually never works out too well, considering Sean has two left feet.

💙Sean really good at both cooking and cleaning. (He’d make an amazing housewife.)

🩵Hailey’s a Swiftie, and has learned many of her songs on guitar.

💜Zander steals Luke’s clothes all the time, and Luke loves seeing Zander wear them.

🧡Luke and Zander have matching bracelets they made together.

🩷Milly listens to death metal.

💙Sean often takes walks late at night, putting his headphones on full volume and allowing himself to daydream.

🩵Hailey hasn’t seen nor read Heartstopper, yet knows several quotes from the series purely from how much Zander says them.

💜When Heartstopper came out on Netflix, Zander and Luke watched it together, and they both cried.

🧡Luke will listen to Zander ramble on and on about his interests, because he likes listening to Zander’s voice, and he likes learning about Zander’s interests so they have something to talk about.

🩷Milly’s love language is giving surprise hugs.

💙Sean’s love language is sharing his music playlists, and creating playlists for others.

🩵Hailey and Zander both drink tea a lot. Hailey tends to put sugar and cream in hers, whereas Zander drinks his without.

💜Zander can walk better in heels than Hailey can.

🧡Every year for the holidays, the Music Club plays Secret Santa. Luke was the one who started the tradition.

🩷Milly has no problem picking up bugs, and as a result, she’s usually the one to deal with them whenever they get inside the club room. (Zander’s also terrified of bugs, and Milly has chased him around while holding one multiple times.)

💙Sean gives the best hugs.

🩵Hailey and Zander host sleepovers a lot.

💜Zander has RBF.

🧡Luke tends to suppress his own feelings in favor of focusing on Zander’s.

🩷Milly’s always getting herself into dangerous situations on accident, and there have been numerous times Sean’s carried her under his arm after she tries doing something stupid.

💙Despite being the group’s therapist, Sean doesn’t like talking about his own problems in fear he’d be seen as a burden. He’s opened up to Milly a bit, but not much.

🧡🍂Luke Headcanons🍂🧡

Because him and Zander are my favorite Music Club members (besides Jake) and I feel Luke is incredibly underrated. I get he doesn’t have much to his character compared to the others, but I personally find his character really sweet and comforting. I just wish we had a little more, so I wrote these.

🧡Luke has either already taken a culinary class, or is currently taking one.

🧡Similar to Sean, Luke can also do the cooking and the cleaning.

🧡Prefers baking over cooking. Knows everyone’s favorite desserts and does his best to make them often.

🧡Tends to make hot chocolate for the Music Club during winter.

🧡Always has a stash of Reeses candies.

🧡Luke is probably known for having a terrible spice tolerance.

🧡Has younger siblings. (Specifically, younger sisters. This is less of a headcanon and more of a prediction. He just gives off older brother energy.)

🧡Tends to personify inanimate objects. (Like his drums.)

🧡The best at remembering birthdays.

🧡Known for having stupidly good luck.

🧡Loves watching romance movies. (And will watch them with Jake and cry.)

🧡Sean has taught Luke some cool broom tricks.

🧡A bit of a pushover. Always trying to make those around him happy, even at his own expense. (Zander is working with him on telling people ‘no’.)

🧡Will send Zander the cheesiest ‘Good Morning’ messages.

🧡Uses the pleading eyes emoji way too often when texting.

🧡Always getting Zander little gifts. (From little trinkets to giant plushies he won in claw machines.)

🧡Will give Zander little love-bites randomly when they’re in private. (Zander was flustered the first few times it happened, but got pretty used to it.)

🧡Gets the dumbest grin on his face whenever Zander’s in a room.

🧡Has been begging Zander to write a duet with him.

🧡Golden Retriever Boyfriend.

🧡Tries to avoid venting to Zander in case it pushes him away. (This is not the case. Zander actively tells Luke to talk to him if he’s stressed. Luke tells himself it’s okay to vent to Zander. Luke’s intrusive thoughts tell him otherwise.)

🧡Can get overwhelmed a little easily due to academic or social pressure.

🧡Has high grades, but still wonders if he could do better. (He often holds himself to very high standards.)

🧡Cuddles with Zander is enough to ease like 60% of his worries.

🖤Drake Headcanons💛

(Because they have a chokehold on my brain and I hope they blow up and explode.)

💛Golden Retriever + Black Cat Dynamic

🖤Drew has fallen asleep on Jake numerous times. (Liam has the photos to prove it.)

💛Jake and Drew are almost always beside each other in photos.

🖤Drew lets Jake copy of his homework. (Jake is the only person allowed to do this.

💛Jake and Drew play footsies during class. (Jake usually starts the game, and Drew is usually the one to finish it.)

🖤Drew has accepted that everything he owns also belongs to Jake. Jake will steal his pencils, his erasers, his papers, etc.

💛Jake doodles on Drew’s hand sometimes during class, and will also write random messages on Drew’s papers.

🖤Drew and Jake always work together on assignments if they’re allowed to.

💛Jake and Drew have pulled several all-nighters together.

🖤Whenever they play Genshin together, Drew carries. (And will spend hours helping Jake collect artifacts and ascension materials.)

💛Jake has possibly the worst team combos on Genshin, and Drew has tried to help him build better characters, but Jake refuses to change his team to due to being overly attached to them.

🖤Drew tends to glance over at Jake a lot, just to admire him. (Yet will never admit he finds Jake attractive.)

💛Jake flirts with Drew ironically. Drew gets flustered almost every single time.

🖤Drew’s braincells rapidly begin to vanish if he’s left alone with Jake for longer than 5 minutes.

💛Jake will steal Drew’s food and drinks a lot. (Drew tries to avoid thinking about the indirect kiss.)

🖤The two share have shared clothes numerous times.

💛Jake and Drew spent Halloween one year watching horror movies while Liam and Henry went trick-or-treating. Neither of them ended up sleeping that night.

🖤Drew feels more at home with Jake than he does in his actual house.

💛Jake has brought Drew to several family gatherings.

🖤Drew’s usually the one who reminds Jake of the little things he wanted to do that day. (Like Jake’ll off-handedly say ‘Don’t let me forget thing.’ And Drew will later on remind him of thing.)

💛Jake is painfully dense and doesn’t realize Drew may love him as more than just a friend.

🖤Drew has taken an ‘Am I Gay’ quiz because of Jake. (He took it until it told him he wasn’t gay. And to get that result he had to lie to himself a lot.)

💛Jake has told Drew several times that if he was stressed or needed someone to talk to, he’d always be there. Drew still has not taken his offer.

🖤Drew would quite literally take a bullet for Jake but will never admit it.

💛Jake opened up to Drew about what happened to him back in middle school. Drew never him asked why he was bullied, and instead promised him that he wouldn’t let it happen again.

🖤Since then, Drew became extremely protective of Jake, and almost all of his action stem from this desire to keep him safe from being used or hurt again.

💛Jake’s always been terrified of Drew judging him or abandoning him. Sometimes when they talk, Jake feels as if he’s treading on glass, terrified of missing a step and having Drew hate him. (He often observes Drew’s reactions to Liam and Henry’s behavior to determine what Drew’s comfortable with.)

🖤Meanwhile, Drew’s always felt he had to ‘prove’ himself worthy of Jake’s friendship. (I.e buying him things, being super protective, the arm thing, etc.)

💛Since the start of high-school, Drew always viewed Jake as his friend. He never liked the idea of sharing him with someone else. (Mostly because of his control issues.)

🖤Despite never saying it, Drew is hopelessly in love with Jake, and desperately wants to hold him close. (And probably kiss him.)

💛And despite everything, Jake does not reciprocate Drew’s feelings, and never will.

I’m making another delusional TMF S2 prediction: I think he’s touch-starved. (Slightly)

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I refuse to believe this boy’s parents are ever present in his life. And the only characters we see Drew actually close with are Jake and Zoey. With Jake, Drew’s almost always the one who initiates, but with Zoey it seems pretty even, considering the photos in Zoey’s locker + bedroom. (But then from episode 6 onward they really don’t seem all that lovey.)

I don’t really see him having this relationship with Henry or Liam either, since I think he’s aware of how close they are to each other, and therefore feels more like a third wheel than anything. I also just can’t imagine Drew leaning his arm on either one of them like he does with Jake. (Yet I’m still obsessed with Driam but that’s a WHOLE other topic-) Anyways, this is all to say that the only people Drew’s really close to is Jake and Zoey.

But what about when he goes home? What about the times where he can’t see them? Combine this loneliness with his codependency and crippling abandonment issues and you get a beautiful recipe for misery.

Now I feel like a small part of him genuinely does want to be close with others, but at the same time he finds the feeling uncomfortable. And I can’t imagine him ever confronting this desire anyways because ‘men don’t need affection’ or something stupid I feel like Drew would tell himself that. (Hands fit together for a REASON.) Anyways, it all depends on the day and the person I suppose. He wants it, but doesn’t, and doesn’t want to ask, so instead he kinda just finds more subtle ways to initiate touch. (THE ARM THING THE ARM-)

But I just want to paint a scenario: Drew being hugged. (By one of the aforementioned blondes specifically.) (No I didn’t write this whole post just for this wymmm???)

And just, the way his nails would dig softly into their back. The way he’d hold onto them longer than he knew he should. The way his fingers would linger as the other pulled away. The shakiness of his breath, the word ‘stay’ on the very tip of his tongue.

He wouldn’t understand it. He wouldn’t understand the feeling in his chest, and why he craved it so desperately. And I feel like this subconscious desire for touch would manifest in smaller ways. Such as folding his hands together, or sleeping with something in his arms every night. The silent loneliness he feels constantly yet the inability to speak about it…

Hello I need to talk about these stinkers again.

Specifically, I need to talk about the fact that they are BULLIES. Because I feel like a lot of people (including myself) fall into the trap of ONLY focusing on either their dynamic with each other, or their dynamic with others in a world where everyone’s friends. Nothing’s wrong with that, I love focusing on those aspects as much as the next, but I also feel like the fact these 4 are bullies gets kinda glossed over, and it’s something I want to talk about. Because they’re stinky little shits. Who do stinky little things.

(FYI I do not condone these boys’ actions, but I will analyze the hell out of them because character studies are my favorite thing.)

Anyways with that out of the way I am now going to break down how they bully others, and why they bully others.

First, these losers. Their actions can be summarized in a single sentence: They act like Freshmen.

Anyone who’s gone to a public high school can hopefully understand what I mean. Freshmen boys tend to be the one’s who cause the most trouble. The ones who mess with people purely for shits and giggles. And despite Liam and Henry being Juniors, they’re so Freshmen coded it’s not even funny.

I feel these two lack the self-awareness to truly understand how their actions affect other people, so they’re constantly finding new ways to mess with people and get on their nerves. They don’t care if someone gets upset or uncomfortable. They don’t care about invading people’s privacy. They don’t care how their words affect others. Because it’s not hurting them. And as long as it’s not hurting them, it’s funny.

Drawing from my own experiences with Freshmen, I feel these two would follow behind strangers uncomfortably close. They’re the type to go up to random people and say ‘Hey, rate my friend.’ Or ‘Hey, my friend thinks you’re cute.’ But do not mean it in the slightest. They’re the type to throw random snack bags at kids purely for how they dress or act. Because they think it’s funny. And they don’t care what other’s think.

Now for Jake, the victim of bullying himself. Hot take: He’d be the WORST out of the four.

Because Jake knows what hurts the most. He knows how to cut deep, because other’s have cut him deep. He draws from his experience. He says stuff that he remembers other’s saying to him. And he’s does this all for the sake of his friends approval.

Because these are his first real friends. And without them, he’d go back to being a pathetic loner no one else wanted. He’s so desperate for the approval of his new friends he’s willing to abandon his own morals for them. But I do believe he has a limit. He’d never actively invade someone’s privacy. (Considering how he prevented Liam from doing so in the Comic Episode.) And I also cannot see him harming someone in any form. But other than that, Jake’s arguably the scariest out of the four.

I feel like this aspect combined with his charming playboy persona kinda gives him this ‘illusive bad boy’ reputation, even if that’s not who he truly is. So he’s essentially trapped parading around as someone he’s not.

Finally, Drew. Infamous for his ability to turn the word ‘freak’ into a slur.

I don’t view Drew as the meanest of the bunch, nor do I view him as some intimidating final boss either. To me, he’s more of a ringleader. Someone who controls the others, while doing very little himself.

He’s typically the one to instigate, then sit back and laugh as he watches the others do the rest. He’s eggs the others on occasionally, but ultimately, he’s more like an amused bystander. Consider the way he sat back and watched as Liam and Henry messed around in the clubroom in Episode 8, and consider the way he essentially did nothing but laugh as he watched Henry and Liam throw Hailey’s book around in the Comic Episode. Both times, he set the target on Hailey, only to sit back and watch as Henry and Liam did the rest.

However, Drew can absolutely be ruthless when he wants to, at least verbally. Because I believe what Zander said in Episode 2 holds a lot of truth to it: “They’re a walking reflection of their insecurities.”

I’ve already made several posts about Drew’s family issues, his codependency, and his overall lack of self-worth and loneliness, so I won’t be repeating them but my goodness is this boy an insecure mess.

He calls Hailey a control freak, yet is constantly shown trying to control Jake by pushing him away from the club. He tells Hailey to ‘get lost and know where she’s not wanted’ likely because he struggles feeling unwanted. He calls Hailey’s whole music concert worthless without Jake, because he feels worthless without Jake.

Drew and Jake are actually rather similar if you really think about it. Both are implied to have low self-esteem and abandonment issues, and both mask it by pretending to be more confident. But how they deal with their issues is where they begin differ, and this further reflects in their reasons for picking on others.

Jake is always changing himself for others, because he doesn’t know if he’ll truly be accepted for being himself. And the only reason he bullies others is because he feels he has to. Drew, meanwhile, finds ways to make himself seem like the best option. He’s constantly buying his friends expensive gifts, and talks down others to make himself look better by comparison. He does nothing to change himself, unlike Jake.

TLDR: Henry and Liam are Freshmen, Jake’s scary and I clearly cannot talk about Drew without spreading my Druffering propaganda. Have a good day. :3

🖤TMF S2 Predictions🖤

(But they’re all about Drew’s character arc because he’s my entire personality unfortunately.)

🖤After the fight between him and Jake, Drew can’t bring himself to cry. When he gets home, he’s on the verge of tears, and he’s barely able to hold himself together. (Sniffles and quiet breaths are the only thing able to escape him.)

🖤He’s also lost a lot of trust in Henry and Liam considering they also helped cover up Zoey’s cheating. He still somewhat forgave them, considering they were blackmailed, but he still can’t look at them the same.

🖤Slowly, Drew begins to spiral, wondering what else the two could’ve been lying about. What else were they hiding from him? How long until they turned on him too?

🖤Intrusive thoughts grow louder, and he eventually decides to cut off Henry and Liam. He snaps at them, and eventually blocks them.

🖤He blocks Zoey as well. He pretends she doesn’t exist. And that nothing ever existed between the two.

🖤He can’t bring himself to block Jake.

🖤He can’t get Jake out of his mind. He desperately wishes he could just go back to him, but he can’t, since in his mind, Jake never cared about him. Jake only ever used him. Just like Zoey did.

🖤He misses the comfort he found in Jake. He misses hearing his voice. He misses being in his presence. He misses him.

🖤But Jake was a liar. Jake never cared. So he couldn’t bring himself to forgive him.

🖤Even when Jake tries to apologize. Tries to talk things out, Drew refuses to listen. He lashes out at him, and eventually, Jake stops trying.

🖤Drew realizes this. He realizes Jake is truly gone now. He doesn’t know how to handle it.

🖤This is what causes him to realize Jake meant more to him than anyone else did. Because despite pushing everyone else away, Jake’s the only one he can’t stop thinking about.

🖤He realizes Jake was more than just a friend to him.

🖤But he tries to convince himself it doesn’t matter. He tries to convince himself he’s better off without Jake, or anyone for that matter.

🖤He stops bullying the Music Club. But he’s hostile to everyone. He shuts down completely.

🖤He’s unable to sleep at night. He doesn’t eat as much.

🖤He doesn’t put as much effort into himself. His eye-bags become more noticeable. His hair’s messier. (If Drew isn’t absolutely disheveled in S2 I will riot.)

🖤Every day becomes a struggle. Every minor inconvenience leaves him on the verge of tears. But he refuses to cry. At least not at school.

🖤He spirals further. Without his friends to distract him, he’s alone with his thoughts. Without his friend’s to rely on, his emotions only grow more volatile. Without someone around, he feels worthless.

🖤Without his friends, he’s nothing.

🖤He finally realizes his codependency.

🖤And he begins reflecting on his actions, his regret growing more and more every day.

🖤He sees Jake with his new friends from the club, and his jealousy only grows worse.

🖤At one point his emotions overflow, and he ends up breaking something in his room. (Not sure what specifically, just something.)

🖤Drew desperately needs a hug. And he finally breaks down crying in his room about everything.

🖤He has at least one nightmare sequence regarding his stressed and insecurities. (Similar to Jake in Episode 10.)

🖤And in the end, Drew has to be the one who works towards making amends with Jake. (Something would make him realize Jake still did care about him.)

🖤Because it’s the only way to show Drew growing as a character. It would force him to swallow his pride, and admit he was in the wrong, both things Drew would never do before.

🖤He’d also have to be vulnerable, putting him out of his comfort zone.

🖤And, of course, Jake would forgive him.

🖤And Drew ends up crying in Jake’s arms. (Full on ugly-crying. Heaving sobs and struggling for breath. Hell if this wasn’t a Gacha and I was the writer I’d go so far as to have him get a bloody nose or pass out.)

🖤And then maybe he starts taking little baby steps to try and improve himself I don’t know.

(There’s bound to be a lot more and I know I skipped a lot of plot points but this is all I got for now. Might make a part two might not.)

💚Zoey + Maria Canon: Zoey is a total bitch who treats her friends poorly. Maria mildly tolerates her.

🩷Zoey + Maria TO ME: Bickering is their love language. Maria's the only girl Zoey doesn't view as incompetent or annoying or beneath her. They're best friends. Maria's absolutely smitten for Zoey. And Zoey would be the same if Maria wasn't a girl. Zoey's never once considered them as anything more than best friends. Maria thinks about Zoey constantly. The two snuck a few drinks one time during a sleepover, kissed, and refused to unpack it the next day.

🩷ANYWAYS ZOEY/MARIA HEADCANONS!💚

💚Zoey spends about half an hour on just her makeup every morning, and consistently touches it up throughout the day.

🩷Maria hates when people call her emo.

💚Zoey often helps Maria with her makeup.

🩷Maria meanwhile loves straightening and styling Zoey’s hair. (And Maria’s own hair is definitely suffering from burn damage from how much she straightens it.)

💚Zoey is always inviting Maria over for sleepovers.

🩷Maria and Zoey share clothes all the time as well.

💚Zoey’s incredibly two-faced. She acts sweet with everyone, but has a habit of back-talking almost everyone she encounters.

🩷Maria, meanwhile, is much more laid-back. She won’t say anything herself, but she has no problem listening to Zoey complain about everyone.

💚Zoey knows almost everyone in the school, and keeps note of everyone’s gossip.

🩷Maria’s gotten very good at listening to Zoey ramble on and on about all of her problems. She doesn’t talk about much of her own, though.

💚Pretty much the only people Zoey genuinely tolerates is Maria and Lia. Everyone else she finds mildly annoying at best.

🩷Maria was very jealous of how close Lia and Zoey got. (In a perfectly normal and hetero way of course.)

💚Both Zoey and Maria are known for always having a stash of gum on them. (Zoey prefers mint gum, Maria likes bubble gum.)

🩷Maria almost always has iced coffee in the mornings.

💚Zoey’s always stealing Maria’s food and drinks.

🩷Maria and Zoey go shopping together and helps her plan outfits.

💚Zoey definitely tried out for the cheer team at one point, failed to make it in and cried.

🩷Maria has been Zoey’s shoulder to cry on countless times.

💚The two can argue for hours about their ships in shows. (And Zoey won’t shut up until Maria admits she’s correct.)

🩷Maria’s always finding new shows for the two to watch.

💚Zoey showers Maria with compliments. (And may or may not have platonically kissed Maria’s cheek several times.)

🩷Maria has a very good poker face. (For no reason in particular.)

💚Extremely fruity with Maria, but means absolutely nothing by it.

🩷And Maria is absolutely down BAD for Zoey. (And was SUPER jealous of Drew lol.)

🩷Transfem Drew! I don’t personally headcanon this but I think the idea is so swag I just had to draw it.

🖤Biromantic Ace Drew! HE IS 100% ASEXUAL AND I DO NOT TAKE CRITICISM BECAUSE I AM LITERALLY CORRECT HE IS BI AND HE IS ACE AND HE IS JUST LIKE ME FR FR-

🧡Lesbian Lia! I like to imagine her borderline obsession with Jake stemmed from her trying to convince herself she liked guys, when that’s literally NEVER been the case, it’s always been girls for her. And also she had a crush on Hailey in Middle School because I said so-

Hello again. I’m back with another delusional prediction: his entire fucking backstory lets do this! (I want to see how much I can get right before S2 drops.) (And I also realize I talk a lot about Drew’s backstory anyways, so might as well just outline all my thoughts here!)

Obviously, we know Drew’s parents are rich. It’s the thing he brags about constantly. So I imagine his parents have jobs that keep them away from home often. (Either they have to work long hours, or they have to travel.) I also imagine Drew’s an only-child, because… like, he lacks basic communication skills and his empathy’s terrible. All of this points to someone who grew up relatively alone.

So, with Drew’s parents just gone for most of his life, Drew was probably left under the care of nannies they’d hire, and honestly, I feel like Drew probably wouldn’t really want to interact with any of these people. He feels like the kind of kid who just locked himself away in his room and went on his iPad. (YOU CANNOT TELL ME DREW WASN’T AN IPAD KID I WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU-)

So these nannies pretty much made sure he got to school, ate, and went to bed. They didn’t actually engage with him much beyond that. (Unless like he was actively acting up or something.) And if they tried, Drew would probably be a little brat and leave. (Also I imagine that he’d only have the same nanny for a few weeks to a few months before his parents hired someone else.)

When Drew’s parents were around, they were pretty neglectful. They wouldn’t really engage unless Drew actively made an effort. (Which was rare at best.) They were very professional, and emotionally distant. Drew was always shut down whenever he was upset, and he was likely either yelled at or ignored whenever he cried. I like to imagine he’s parents probably have more traditional values, such as men always having to be strong and whatnot. It was considered weakness to cry, or display any strong emotions really. (I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that Drew has a toxic masculinity mindset, which would explain a lot about his behavior, and how he instinctively resorts to anger to express his emotions.)

Drew was always told he had to be strong, and he wasn’t supposed to cry. And eventually, he stopped crying, because he knew it wouldn’t get him anything, and it’d only be a sign of weakness: something he was supposed to be.

Hell, the only real way Drew could even tell that his parents cared about him was how they’d buy him stuff. They’d buy him anything he wanted, they just never gave him their time. (Which is why he’s always buying stuff for his friends because it’s all he knows how to do.)

I don’t think Drew really understood why his parents were never around, at least for a while. He probably just assumed they didn’t want him or something. Or he wasn’t worth more than their time was.

Needless to say, I think Drew was a pretty problematic child in Elementary school. I imagine he’d be pretty defiant of authority, and pretty argumentative too. (All just lashing out because of the lack of attention he receives at home.) (Also in an attempt to gain control over something.)

But Drew eventually mellowed out, and just accepted how his life was. And I’m just gonna mention here too, Drew definitely has an insecure attachment style. Without a consistent parental figure giving him attention, and with how little he had control over in his early life, I feel like he’d developed a disorganized attachment style. (Being a combination of avoidant and anxious. He wants to keep people close, but he’s also terrified of someone else leaving him so he’d rather just keep his distance sometimes.) (He needs therapy BAD.)

Anyways, I feel when Drew was around 12 or so, his parents probably figured he’d be old enough to take care of himself, which at this point Drew just does not care anymore. He locks himself away in his room anyways, what difference would it make? His parents just gave him his own card so he could buy himself anything he needed. (This basically left Drew home alone for a majority of his life. He’d sometimes catch them late at night after work or early before work, or sometimes not at all because they’re traveling meaning he’d be alone for several days at a time.)

And I definitely feel Drew resents his parents for having him and never being around for him, but he tells himself it made him independent, and it gave him realistic expectation of what the worlds like. (In reality all his parents gave him is attachment issues, abandonment issues, and a shit-ton of cash.)

Anyways, as stated before Drew probably gained a reputation for being a problematic child in Elementary school, and maintained this reputation even when he started mellowing out and focusing more in school. So Middle School became his ‘fresh start’. (WHICH IS WHY HE TOLD JAKE THAT IN EPISODE 9-)

As per his parents demand, Drew enrolled in Honors courses. (That was probably one of the only things they really cared about honestly: his grades.) And he started building a better reputation for himself, making friends with cooler students and picking on others to make him feel better about himself.

But these friends he had were all based around being cool. Drew had to fit with them, and if he slipped up he’d probably be no better than the people he bullied. (Middle School’s a lawless land.)

And from the Comic Episode it’s sort of implied Drew didn’t go to Middle School with Henry or Liam, so I’m gonna assume they met sometime in High School.

And I think a reason Drew became friends with these two absolute losers is because they weren’t really all that cool. They’re just two goofballs, so Drew probably didn’t have to worry about being cool around them. (Same goes for why he hangs out with Jake, too.) He’s friends with them all because he’s not really too concerned about appearing cool. He can slip up now and then and know it won’t result in anything. And they make him look cooler by comparison-

(I also like the idea that Drew dropped the Honors classes he’d been taking sometime in Sophomore or Junior year just to be with his friends. I like to think he had to argue with his parents for a while just so they’d let him.)

My final note is on Jake. Drew- Drew has a crush on him. That’s simply canon. (Trust me guys it’s gonna be confirmed in S2 I promise-) So he gets really possessive and controlling because he doesn’t want Jake to leave like everyone else in his life did. He doesn’t want Jake to abandon him, so he will do anything in his power to prevent that.

So that’s all I got for the backstory. Now to talk about the affects.

So because Drew’s parents were never around, he probably had this complex he isn’t really worth much. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they find more time for him? And because he never really felt love as a child, he struggles to find worth in himself. He’s unable to find happiness in himself because he was never taught how to love himself. (And it’s hard to love yourself if you feel like no one loves you.) So his only source of happiness is his friends. (I’ve done a separate post about this topic but essentially Drew is co-dependent because they’re his only escape from his loneliness and self-hatred.)

And as another way to cope with his problems, Drew brags about his possessions and picks on others constantly. It’s a way to make himself to look better than others. To make himself seem like someone worthwhile.

And because Drew cannot love himself, he finds ways to be wanted. To be needed, to be worth something.

Which is why he spends thousands on his friends. Not only is it the only way he knows how to show his love, it’s also how he knows he’s needed. If he can buy his friends anything they want, why would they ever leave him? They’d have no reason to.

It’s why he kinda lets Zoey walk all over him in their relationship. It’s why he so casually buys Jake a laptop and a literal Switch. It’s all so they still need him. And all he wants in exchange is their care.

So when Zoey cheats and Jake lies, it crumbles his very worldview. He thought they needed him. He thought they cared. But to him, it was all a lie. And it all circles back to him feeling worthless and useless all over again.

TDLR: Drew’s parents neglected him for a majority of Drew’s life and he desperately needs therapy because of it. And he has depression probably. And at least like 5 of his problems could’ve been solved with a hug and simple reassurance.

❤️About 1/3 of their closets are full of each other’s clothes just from how many nights they’ve spent together.

💚They’re pretty much always sending each other stupid TikToks they find.

❤️After school, if neither of them are doing anything, they’ll pretty much spend the whole evening on call playing video games or something.

💚SUPER comfortable with each other. Like, sitting on each other’s laps comfortable. Using each other as lap pillows comfortable. Caressing each other’s cheeks and cuddling up to each other comfortable.

💚Nothing to do with Henriam but I like to think Henry tried taking Japanese for a semester and literally couldn’t understand anything other than ‘hi’ and ‘thank you’ so he ended up dropping the course.

I’m kinda bored so have some TMF backstory predictions:

Jake

His dad is out of the picture, it’s just him, his mom and his brother. His mom’s single and as a parent she’s pretty relaxed, just as long as you don’t piss her off. Like she is not beyond throwing a slipper at Jake because he sassed her or something. (Slippers are her main weapon probably.) She’d also probably drag her son’s by the ear before telling them off for something stupid. She cares a lot about her sons and is trying her best, but she’s usually pretty busy with work and is probably exhausted 24/7 so Jake has to help out with Milo a lot. She’s very close to both her children and is very supportive of Jake’s passions. She’s also just a very warm person overall and views the Jomies as her sons. (But one time Liam made a joke about how he was gonna try and flirt with Jake’s mom and become his step-dad and Jake nearly fucking cried so Liam never did it again.) Jake’s probably pretty protective of his mom, too. He cares about her a lot.

Luke

I imagine his parents are pretty wealthy, honestly. Like, not Drew-level wealthy but they’re pretty well off. He has younger sisters that he helps take care of, and he’s pretty close with them. His parents are also very caring and he’s pretty close with them, but they hold him to very high standards. They view him as their ‘Golden Child’ almost so Luke works hard to maintain that image. Also, his parents are probably homophobic and Luke doesn’t know if him having a boyfriend will change how they feel about him. He doesn’t want them to hate him, so he keeps his relationship a secret.

Milly

Milly’s parents are probably pretty strict. They want Milly to be this perfect little girl but she’s not and she’s pretty defiant of them. They probably argue quite a bit and Milly’s parents always claim that they just want the best for her, which only makes Milly more angry because she just wants to be herself. They care about her deep down but also somewhat feel disappointed in her and she’s fully aware of it. She pretends like it doesn’t bother her but it totally does.

Sean

His parents fucking hate each other. They argue 24/7, and the only reason they’re still together is because Sean’s still living with them. The moment Sean moves out, they’re planning on getting a divorce. Sean’s fully aware of this and views himself as the problem, which does wonders for his self-esteem. His parents are probably pretty hard on him and have lashed out at him before as a way to let off anger. Sean does not like them. He is not close to either of them, and will find any and every excuse to stay out later just so he doesn’t have to go home. (Which usually just gets him in more trouble.) He doesn’t really try to fight back against them. Just kinda nods and goes along with whatever they want. When Sean is home, he probably locks himself away in his room, and keeps his headphones on full blast. One of his parents is probably an alcoholic, too. He’s considered running away at some point but doesn’t really know where to go and he wouldn’t want to worry any of his friends.

Drew

…I’m gonna try to keep this brief I’ve done SO many posts about this but basically his parents are rarely around because they’re always busy with work. Drew resents them for this, and the only way he can even tell that they care about him is because they buy him whatever he wants, causing this whole ‘gifts=care’ mindset he has and expresses with his friends. Anyways, he barely knows anything about his parents, and rarely talk to them. And as long as Drew remains respectful and keeps his grades up, they don’t really pay any mind to him. Also, calling it now, Drew doesn’t have a mom. Whether this means he has a single dad or TWO dads is up to you. (Also, I know for a FACT he got a hug from Jake’s mom at some point and nearly cried because he’s not used to having a positive parental figure.)

Henry

Henry would have the chillest parents ever, I just know it. I feel like they’d be lower middle class, but Henry would have ZERO responsibilities while under their roof. Like, they still probably do his dishes for him. They still probably fold his laundry for him. His only real ‘responsibility’ is to clean his room, but there’s no sort of consequences if he doesn’t so it’s just constantly a disaster. He could probably get away with murder and all his parents would do is just say: “Well, son, that wasn’t very cool of you. You shouldn’t do that again.” He’s pretty close with both of them, though.

Liam

Last one. I feel like his dad’s the one who works while his mom stays at home. He’s in a similar financial situation to Henry, (probably why they hang out with Drew-) but unlike Henry, Liam has responsibilities. He has to help his mom with a lot of the chores, and if he tries to blow it off or give her sass he’ll probably just get smacked with a hand-towel. But as long as his chores are done Liam’s kinda allowed to do whatever. As long as he’s home for dinner, he has the freedom to go wherever. He’s not really all that close to his dad but he cares a lot about his mom.

(Honestly, out of all the Music Club members, Hailey’s probably the one I’m the least attached to, but I absolutely adore her dynamics with other characters, so… this’ll mostly about her relationships with others lol.)

🩵Used to be a HUGE tattle-tale when she was young. (Would always threaten to tell on Zander for everything.) (Zander reminds her of this a lot and she cringes every time.)

🩷Loves women’s country music, and will blast it in her room just to annoy Zander.

🩵Hailey has REALLY BAD split ends, and Zander’s always getting on her case about it, telling her to just cut it off. She refuses.

🩷Her and Zander used to fight over everything when they were young. They were horrible at sharing.

🩵Sometimes when Hailey gets anxious she’ll typically grab Zander’s sleeve. (Which activates Protect Brother Mode.)

🩷Often asks for Zander’s help planning outfits for special occasions.

Sean usually stays awake with her until she gets everything done, and she’s always apologizing for keeping him up. Sean, who never sleeps regardless, just says: “It’s fine. I like spending time with you. :3”

🤍Daisy’s also probably fallen asleep on call a few times, and Sean finds her sleepy voice really cute.

💙Daisy’s probably overheard Sean’s parents arguing one time while they were calling, but when Daisy asked about it, he sort of brushed it off.

🤍Whenever Sean asks how Daisy’s been doing, she’ll usually start off with: “I’m doing fine, but-” and then end up rambling about her problems for about 30-minutes and then profusely apologizes for it afterward. (Despite Sean telling her countless times to not apologize.)

💛Used to listen to Billie Eilish in Middle School.

💛Whenever it’s too quiet, he’ll either hum to himself or make random noises with his mouth.

And whenever they were home alone, she wanted to make out with him and stuff, meanwhile, all Drew wanted to do was cuddle and watch stupid videos on his phone with her. (But she just found that boring.)

🩷Honestly, their best dates were their at-home ones. Where they’d watch movies together and Zoey would bring some face masks and they’d pamper each other and cuddle and whatnot. (Fun for Zoey and relaxing for Drew.)

🩷And because of their height difference, Zoey would sometimes grab Drew’s collar and pull him down to her level to kiss him. (And this definitely never once flustered Drew.)

🩷Probably knew Drew cared more about Jake than he did her and that pissed her off.

Lia:

💜Big fan of Olivia Rodrigo. (And one time, while her and Drew were waiting for the others after school, she was listening to one of her songs and singing along, and Drew ended up correcting her on a lyric, causing her to realize he ALSO listens to her music, and he was super embarrassed about it afterwards and made her promise not to tell anyone.)

💜So anyways Lia now wants to take Drew to an Olivia Rodrigo concert.

💜She’s also a big fan of Nessa Barrett.

💜Surprisingly really good at singing. She never took lessons or anything, she just sings in the shower a lot.

💜Sprays perfume on herself like 50 times in a day.

Day 19! Music Club Headcanons! (Music Edition!)

I’ve already shared most of my Music Club headcanons, so I’ll be keeping this post pretty simple. Just kinda want to share my thoughts regarding their music tastes, because why not?

🩵Hailey mostly listens to country music. Woman’s country specifically. Like, the songs about killing your exes for cheating. If it weren’t for her kindness and strong moral code, she probably would’ve slashed Drew’s tires and bashed in his windshield to one of these songs by now. He may not be an ex, but she hates him all the same.

💜Zander mostly listens to stuff from the 80’s and 90’s. Pop music specifically. He’s one of those people who claims music is getting worse, and hates about 90% of modern artists. (TikTok would be his worst nightmare.) But I do imagine he’d really like Conan Gray. He’s definitely cried to several of his songs. (Also Luke definitely got him tickets to one of his concerts and he cried for like a solid 5 minutes.)

🧡Luke doesn’t really have much of a music preference. He’ll enjoy whatever anyone else is listening to. But on his own, he’d probably listen to a lot of classic rock. (Like something someone’s dad would listen to.) (Also I could totally see him listening to Arctic Monkeys.)

🩷Milly would mostly listen to punk-rock and metal music. Something she can blast late at night. (I have so many artists I think she’d listen to but that’ll take too long to list lol.) Most of these songs are either about how much the government sucks or how much life in general sucks.

💙Similar to Jake, Sean will listen to just about anything. However, instead of having all his songs in one playlists, he’s created countless, all with very specific vibes. (And he definitely has a shared playlist with each member of the Music Club.) His only ‘disorganized’ playlists are his recent faves list, and his vent list. Anyways, despite being down to listen to anything, I feel like he leans more towards EDM. Or anything loud. Anything to drown out his thoughts. (I refuse to stop with the Sean angst headcanons.)

🖤Bonus! I feel like one of the only artists the Jomies (including Zoey and Lia) can agree on is Kesha. I could totally see Drew driving them all somewhere with Joyride blasting out the speakers. Everyone except Drew’s singing along and Drew’s this close to driving the car off a cliff. (Not actually though he loves these idiots.)

Day 21! LGTV Headcanons! (Music Club Edition!)

🩷Hailey and Milly are both bisexual. And I unfortunately I don’t really have much else to say about this. They probably figured it out by simply having one too many crushes on fictional women and actresses to be considered straight.

💜Zander’s canonically gay. And I like to think this is something he’s always been at least somewhat aware of. After all, he’d never once had a crush on another girl before, and he’d always been more drawn to the princes from the little princess movies him and Hailey watched when they were younger. When he figured out how to put into words the way he felt, I imagine it took him a bit of time to tell anyone. Mostly because he was nervous about being seen differently. I like to imagine the first person he came out to was Hailey, and she was really supportive of him. His parents were as well, and over time, he became a lot more comfortable expressing his sexuality; no longer feeling nervous when it came to telling certain people. (Zander’s only regret about telling his parents though is that he’s no longer allow any boys over for sleepovers.) (Big sad. No Lander sleepovers.) (Oh but you know Hailey’s helping Luke sneak through the window at night so him and Zander can cuddle.)

🧡Luke’s canonically pansexual. (I think?) But he took a lot longer to figure it out compared to Zander, and I imagine Zander is probably how he figured it out in the first place. (He’d only ever liked girls before, at least to his knowledge.) I like to think Luke grew up in a pretty homophobic household, so to suddenly realize he had feelings for his male best friend definitely came as a shock. He keeps his sexuality a secret from his family, and from most people outside of school. He loves being with Zander but a part of him almost feels guilty since it’s so frowned upon at home. But a Luke’s gotta Luke, so Luke’s not gonna tell Zander or anyone else anything.

💙Sean is an ally! I can’t really see him as anything other than straight honestly, but he’s very supportive of his friends and will quite literally defend them with his life. He also probably knows a lot about different sexualities and whatnot thanks to the other members of the Music Club.

❤️Bonus! Max’s Band is just a polycule. Look at these three and tell me they’re not gay. They’re a whole damn pride parade. (And if ALL THREE turn out to be straight I’ll cry.) (PLEASE CLOZY AT LEAST LET MAX BE GAY LET ME PARALLEL HIM TO DREW I BEG-)

Have a little angsty Luke prediction I came up with on my late night drive home:

So, in my LGTV post, I talked about how I believe Luke has homophobic parents. I figured this would make for a pretty interesting plot point, and I started wondering what I would do with it. Hence, my idea was born: What if Luke’s parents were under the impression Luke was dating Hailey?

Think about it. Him and Hailey have been friends since childhood. Luke’s always hanging out with her and her brother after school. He goes over to their house frequently, and probably talks about them all the time. So, it was really only a matter of time before his parents jumped to that conclusion.

And Luke, seeing how excited his parents got at the idea of him finally having a girlfriend, decided to go along with it. After all, it would explain why he was over there so often. And it’d finally stop all the teasing and pestering. And it made his parents happy, which is all Luke really wants.

But does he tell Hailey and Zander about this? Hah, absolutely not. He hasn’t even told Zander his parents are homophobic! Because he doesn’t want to worry them. (I’m sure this won’t come to bite him in the back later! 🫠 Insert Jake crying on the club floor in Episode Nine due to his lies becoming too big to handle.)

Everything’s just fine for a while. Until Luke’s parents start saying things like: “Oh, you should invite Hailey over for dinner tonight!” And: “Oh, we’re going to (insert place here) tonight! Would you like to invite Hailey along?”

And obviously, Luke refuses, finding every excuse in the book to avoid his parents meeting Hailey again. Because then, he’d have to explain the whole situation to Hailey and Zander, which would then result in him having to explain everything he’s been hiding to the two of them. And he can’t do that. He can’t worry them like that. But his parents are growing suspicious, wondering why their son seems so keen on hiding his girlfriend. They’d met Hailey in the past before. Why now was he trying to hide her?

His parents start questioning him, asking him why they never get to see Hailey anymore. Luke tries to tell them it’s simply because she’s busy, but that’s almost never the case when Luke wants to go over to her place. (His parent’s aren’t necessarily mad at him, just confused and a little suspicious.) Luke promises that they’ll meet Hailey eventually, putting on a little smile for them only to start panicking the second they leave.

Because now, he almost has to keep up this lie. If he pretends to break up with Hailey, he wouldn’t be able to hang out with them without even further suspicion. But if he keeps this up, he’ll have to tell Hailey or Zander. Then he’d have to open up about his parents and then Zander would get worried and stressed and-

Luke bottles it up. Puts on a smile while his mind races in desperate search of an answer. But his facade isn’t flawless. He becomes quieter. He zones out more. And gets this… almost somber expression when he thinks no one’s watching him.

And Zander immediately notices this.

He tries to bring it up, but Luke brushes it off, telling him he’s just a little tired. And Zander believes him. Until several days pass and Luke only seems to have gotten worse. He zones out more while Zander’s talking. Rushes home after rehearsals. And he’s suddenly much busier helping his parents out with stuff he refuses to elaborate on.

Now, Zander’s obviously going to worry. I think with his whole: “He doesn’t tell me anything anymore!” Comment made it very clear he values communication and honesty. So for Luke to be so distant suddenly with almost no explanation, Zander immediately jumps to the worse case scenario. What if he made Luke mad in some way? Or worse, what if Luke’s gotten bored of him?

He talks to the Music Club, and they all give him different responses. Hailey and Milly tell him to confront Luke directly, but Jake and Sean tell him to give it some time. Wait it out, and see if he comes to him. Ultimately, Zander listens to the latter, giving it a few more days while trying to be as supportive as possible, making it clear that he’s willing to help.

But nothing changes, and Zander’s intrusive thoughts grow louder, eventually boiling over one day after school, when Zander finally decides to confront him.

And as always, Luke lies. He puts on that pretty fake smile and lies straight through his teeth. Causing Zander to snap. All his worries and doubts and insecurities spill, tears welling in his eyes he asks if Luke’s upset with him.

He starts asking if he’s made Luke mad, bringing up small little ‘mistakes’ he made that Luke has long since forgotten about. He’s barely able to keep it together as his mind starts spiraling, and he eventually asks if Luke had been wanting to break up with him. If he wanted to leave him behind, too.

And Luke shatters.

Finally, everything he’s been bottling up is brought to the surface as he holds onto Zander, desperately trying to assure him that he’s not leaving and that he will never leave him. And he finally admits to what’s really been on his mind. He admits to every lie he’s been telling, clinging desperately to Zander as he cries against his shoulder, choking back sobs between desperate apologies. Practically begging for Zander to not be mad.

And obviously, Zander isn’t. (He probably feels guilty now for escalating things so much because of how insecure he was.) And obviously, Zander helps him through this. Or hell, maybe Jake could, too. I mean, Jake knows a thing or two about how easy it is to get caught in what seems like a little harmless lie. It’d be a nice parallel between the two, and show how much Jake’s grown while helping Luke develop as a character.

And at the end of all this, Luke explains everything to his parents. They’re probably very shocked. A little weirded-out, but they’re not going to disown him or anything like Luke was worried about. And they still love him, they just… have to get used to it.

So… yeah! That’s all I got for now. I don’t know if TMF will actually go in this direction, since homophobia hasn’t yet been explicitly explored in TMF, but if it doesn’t I might honestly just write my own AU for this. I love Luke so much I could easily write a good 20k words about him.

(Oh, yeah. After this whole arc Zander’s issues would definitely need to be touched upon. Maybe that can be its own post one day.)

Day 30! LGTV Headcanons! (Jomies Edition!)

💛I’m sorry, but I can’t see Jake as anything other than straight. He is after ladies and ladies only. And in all honestly, I feel he’d pretty much know nothing about the LGBT community. (Along with the rest of the Jomies tbh.) Like, he only knows straight, gay and bi. Anything else is completely foreign to him. (I can totally see a conversation between him and Luke regarding Luke’s sexuality. Jake’s like: “So, you’re gay too?” And Luke responds with: “Oh, I’m pan actually.” And Jake just buffers for a moment like: “Pan? Like- like a frying pan? What the hell does that mean? You like pans???” And you can just see Luke’s soul leave his body.) (He’s not trying to be insensitive he genuinely just doesn’t understand this stuff.😭)

🖤Drew’s biromantic. Because no way his feelings for Jake are platonic. I can also see him having crushes on other guys in the past, but he never really registered those as crushes. Just… very close friends. Also, don’t really think he (or any of the Jomies) has a problem with other people being gay. But in Drew’s case, I feel like that’s something he personally doesn’t think he’s allowed to be for whatever reason. Like, he’s so set on the idea that he’s straight he cannot fathom the idea of being anything else. It’s what he has to be, basically. (Internalized homophobia baby! ✨) Oh, and I also like to think Drew’s ace, because… uh, vibes, I guess? I don’t really have an explanation for this, I just think it’s fitting. (And I just want more ace characters in media that still want romantic relationships it makes me feel seen.😭)

❤️Both Liam and Henry are the type of guys to be like: “I’m straight, but- 20 bucks is 20 bucks-” (And even without the incentive of 20 dollars they still do the gayest shit ever so no one really knows what they are. Not even them.) (But I do imagine Liam’s bicurious.)

🩷Zoey’s honestly an enigma to me. Because literally, anything works. Straight? Lesbian? Bi? Aro-ace? All of it makes sense.

💜Lia’s a lesbian. She’s always liked girls but is in complete denial of it. Her almost obsessive crush on Jake was just her trying to convince herself she liked guys. But she doesn’t. It’s always been girls.

🤍Bonus! Daisy’s bi, and Sadie’s a lesbian! (And I also like to think Sadie’s transfem because I saw someone else headcanon it and the idea of that’s been living in my head rent-free since.)

This’ll be the last day of Freakblr month I’ll be doing. I don’t really have any ideas for Day 31 other than “Is Drew a Twink?” so I think I’ll be leaving this off here. This was so much fun to participate in, though! I love rambling about these sillies and seeing other’s thoughts on them too! 10/10 would participate again.

OKAY SO IT’S FINALLY TIME FOR THAT IN-DEPTH JOMIES DYNAMICS ANALYSIS!!

(Aka: My own interpretations of their relationships based on the canon interactions in the show. Warning this is going to be a long one.)

Jake and Drew: Messy. Oh so very messy. It’s obvious these two care about each other, but they possibly have the worst way of communicating. Neither of them understand each other because the way they communicate does not at all reach the other. There’s a lot of examples of this in the show, one being the infamous laptop scene from Episode 6 that’s already had so many wonderful analyses done on it before, so I’ll keep mine brief:

Drew’s love language is obviously gift-giving. He gives expensive gifts to his friends as a show of his love. He gave Jake a laptop so they can play games together, and Jake nearly gave it away almost on a whim. Metaphorically, he nearly gave away a symbol of Drew’s affections. Carelessly.

We know Jake became friends with Drew partially because he didn’t want to be bullied again. Drew was a bully, and he could protect Jake from other bullies. So I believe to an extent, Jake never lost that image of him. Sure, he grew to care about Drew, but in the back of his mind, Drew was always a bully. Someone to be feared. And I think this view is probably what prevented him from ever trying to understand him.

And Jake was terrified of getting on his bad side. So, he did what he does best: he lied. He lied about himself, kept his embarrassing interests hidden. He probably didn’t open up much to Drew in fear of being ridiculed or rejected. Therefore, not allowing Drew to understand him, either.

Now, we don’t know exactly how Drew feels regarding Jake, but we know he’s very attached to him. It’s very clearly shown to us in scenes where Jake interacts with anyone outside their little group. He’s always sliding his arm around Jake’s shoulders whenever Hailey’s around. And when Jake isn’t around, Drew’s usually looking for him, only ever glancing up from his phone to see if Jake’s around and only putting it away when Jake shows up. (I’m not just talking about the Spin-Off, he does this in Episodes 9 and 10 too.)

Drew is a very blunt person. And his actions are very telling of his intentions: Jake is mine, and Jake is off-limits. And ironically, the only person who doesn’t seem to get the memo is Jake himself, who remains obliviously indifferent. Anyways, all this to say that Drew’s method of keeping Jake close is being blunt and possessive. Whereas Jake’s method is to hide who he is. He’s very subtle with how he expresses his desires. Sugar-coats his words so the truth becomes somewhat obscure.

They’re complete opposites when it comes to communication. And because of this, it leads to this little tightrope game the two of them play. Both don’t want to lose each other. But the actions they take to avoid that ultimately lead to them falling to their demise. Drew grows possessive, Jake gets nervous, Jake lies, and Drew grows confused and frustrated, leading to him growing more possessive, and the cycle continues.

Until it eventually reaches its breaking point in Episode 10, which honestly highlights how deeply these two do not understand each other. Jake directly says to Drew: “I know deep down you knew I wasn’t doing this just because of her!” To which Drew (understandably) gets confused and defensive. Because Jake never once mentioned this to him. And Jake just somehow expects him to know this, but obviously Drew doesn’t, because Drew probably relies on blunt communication. He doesn’t understand the subtle glances and occasional frowns Jake gives. So it doesn’t reach him.

Meanwhile, Drew tries to tell Jake the truth about the Music Club (or what he viewed as the truth, because the actual truth Jake kept hidden) and he does this thinking he’s protect Jake from being used. He’s blunt, he’s straight to the point. He tells Jake that the clubs using him, and that the club is bad. Because that’s what he perceives as the truth. Whereas to Jake, this only comes across as being toxic and possessive. This blunt method of communication comes across to assertive. So it doesn’t reach him.

And in conclusion: these two were essentially destined for tragedy. 💔

Jake and Liam: I’m pretty sure these two interact the least throughout the show, but honestly they give off such a chill dynamic. Despite their lack of dialogue, it’s obvious these two care about each other, and they have each other’s back. I mean, Liam brought Jake Haribo Peaches. Asked if he was coming to school that day. A silent question of: are you alright? It’s a subtle show of compassion, and I think that’s all their relationship is really. Soft, subtle signs of care. And probably why he looked so defeated when Jake admitted the truth to them.

Jake and Henry: I almost see them having a brotherly dynamic. I mean, Henry picks on Jake a lot throughout the show. Teasing him about Daisy and Hailey, poking fun at him, laughing at him, stealing his jacket, all sorts of stuff. But I think picking on people’s sort of Henry’s love language. Just look at him and Liam.

Jake’s never really shown to say anything about this though, beyond just making a little face whenever it happens. (Actually, the image above is a perfect example of this. Henry teases Jake, and Jake just sort of accepts it.) I imagine he’d be a little bit annoyed with Henry at times, but at the end of the day, Henry is his clown and he does care about him. And I feel it’s very obvious he’s very fond of Jake as well.

I think that’s sort of why he tried to step in during Drew and Jake’s argument. He cares a lot about both of them, and wants to try and figure out things peacefully. I also think this is why he doesn’t say anything either after the fight, because what can he say? He cared a lot about Jake, and Jake lied.

Drew and Henry: These two are honestly a little more complicated, because honestly, I feel like a majority of their interactions are either Henry annoying Drew or Drew snapping back at him.

Like, yes, these two are in the same friend group, but I’d honestly say they’re the least close to each other. I’d imagine Drew genuinely finds Henry’s antics annoying at times, but Henry isn’t exactly sure if Drew’s being serious or not. And I’ve seen people make the argument that this is just normal friend bickering, but Henry genuinely looks a little defeated or nervous whenever Drew snaps back, which is why I think it’s a little more than that. (Or maybe I just need to rewatch every scene they have together lol.)

Drew and Liam: Okay, I will admit. This one will probably be the most speculative, because there’s not a lot of actual interactions between these two in the show. However, I am a hardcore Driam shipper so obviously I have crafted my own interpretation of these two’s relationship. (Which I’ll try to keep unbiased.)

And honestly, it’s sort of similar to the dynamic Liam has with Jake, but… also not? It’s sort of hard to explain.

Drew and Liam obviously care about each other, but I think there’s a distance between them. Because the show makes it abundantly clear that Henry and Liam are each other’s person. And Jake was Drew’s person. And because of this sort of unspoken alliance, there’s obviously a gap between Drew and Liam. (Just like with Drew and Henry.)

And I like to think Liam and Henry are trying to close that gap, Liam specifically. However, Drew almost always seems to sabotage this attempt by refusing to put away his phone until Jake shows up.

Liam’s also a lot more observant compared to Henry and Jake. And I feel he’s able to read Drew’s behaviors slightly. And similar to how Liam offered the Haribo Peaches to Jake as a silent show of support, I like to think he’d do similar to Drew. (I’m probably reading way too deep into the Haribo Peaches message lmao.)

I also think Liam would help keep Drew more grounded when they’re together. He’s not ass eccentric and random as Henry, but he’s also… not Jake. (Meaning Drew doesn’t have to walk around glass around him.) He’s less afraid of losing Liam because that’s not really what he thinks about. So Liam’s probably the most calming to be around. They’re able to talk and bicker back and forth peacefully.

Henry and Liam: They’re married, they just don’t know it. Yet.

I would say I’m kidding, but I’m genuinely not. These two are genuinely so damn perfect for each other. It’s so obvious how close these two are. I mean, the way they’re able to practically read and finish each other’s thoughts. How they always look at one another before saying anything. How easily and happily they go along with each other’s antics. How protective they can be of one another.

They’ve truly seen each other at the most cringe and embarrassing points of their lives. They’ve been through so many ups and downs together. And they’ve had each other through it all. Whether platonic or romantic, there’s no denying they love each other. And that love truly is beautiful.
