Beyond [Prolog]

this is my first fan fiction written in english, so i am sorry for mistakes.

This is a self-insert Maze Runner fan fiction, and is also Newt x Reader.

This chapter is just the introduction.

Before

“Hey, how was your mission?“

“Ah, don´t ask! It was fine. What happened when I was gone?”

“Don´t change the topic Y/N! You know what you and your guys are called nowadays?” The girl with fluffy blond hair had an angry look on her face as she scolded her friend.

Since her brother was sent off to the facility six month ago she hadn´t had heard a single word from him. The only thing she ever heard about him was the weekly report about the test subjects generally and there wasn´t anything out of the ordinary. She missed him dearly and now her stupid best friend seemed to try to get herself killed. The girl next to her just rolled her eyes.

“What?”

“Team Beyond Suicidal! The TBS for short! Bloody hell Y/N you need to be more careful. You can´t just go into an area and start to clean it out! You need to think before you and your unit move or you will die!”

Tears started to fall and Y/N watched her friend cry silently. She knew her friend hadn´t had it easy since her brother was taken. Hell, she herself missed that stupid brat, a little. But that was something she would never admit. The three came to Wicked at the same time and her brother was the same age as Y/N. They had a few classes together and she grew fond of the siblings.

A sigh escaped her and she stopped walking through those endless corridors.

“I am sorry Lizzy., all right. I will be more careful the next time. I promise. You know I wouldn´t be out there if I couldn´t handle myself.”

“Really? I… I couldn´t bear to lose you as well.” Her tears fell freely now but she didn´t care.

“Hey don´t say that. Your stupid brother will be fine. Heck, I´m sure his Maze will be the first to finish the tests.”

“You… You think so? Really?”

“Yes, or else he owes me 20 bucks!” This comment made Lizzy chuckle.

It wasn´t uncommon for the people from the defense squad to place bets on the experiments. With this, the defense member and the laboratory assistant went to the dining hall. But it was the true. Y/N´s squad was called Team Beyond Suicidal for a reason. They were the first to run straight into danger. All squad members had special combat and medical training, but Team 13 were mad like the Cranks they fought themselves.
