Starting with Smokescreen (Mae Whitman) she was a Decepticon spy trained by Dreadwing that defected to the autobots due to them treating her much better than Starscream did. And she started up a loving relationship with Arcee who calls her smokey. She can make the screen formation with anyone like Arcee, Throttle, Impactor, etc which deflects most attacks.
