I Like How In The Van Scene When Will Has His Veiled Confession To Mike, They're Driving Forward. This

I like how in the van scene when Will has his veiled confession to Mike, they're driving forward. This shows how he is motivating Mike, how he wants to set Mike and El's relationship back in motion again.

But in the script, when it says Jonathan stares ahead at the "endless freeway stretching before them" after Will's confession, it just goes to show that for Will, he's not actually going anywhere. There is no destination in sight for him, despite him being a driving force for Mike in this scene. There is also literally no destination in sight, as they don't even know if Suzie got the coordinates right for Nina at this point. But yeah, for Will, his future seems bleak. The freeway looks the same no matter how long or how far they drive, it's just a long gray road in an empty, hopeless-looking desert. And that's exactly how Will feels inside. How devastating it must feel for Will to just pour his heart out to his childhood best friend knowing inside that this love is hopeless. He feels nothing will come from it. His pain will never end.

The amount of emptiness that must be in his heart... that's fucking relatable as a queer kid growing up. To have so much love to give but to be left with just a wall in front of you, a wall that really prevents you from loving, from being yourself, from feeling like you can really be a part of this world like everybody else. It sucks lol
