"Here you are My Lady~", Noé said playfully pulling you along to the dining room of his home. "Noé, you don't have to– The last thing I want you is to waste your time prioritizing it to me", You stated. Which in return only made Noé upset. You were experiencing hurt. It wasn't heartbreak at this point. More like shear embarrassment, being kicked out and thrown out of a home you shared with another. It was evident that you were embarrassed, and Noé wanted you to feel anything but embarrassed. "Y/n, please don't talk like that", he pleaded. "I thought, I've established that you could stay here as long as needed." You shyly noded,"Sleeping arrangements will be up to you, the last thing I want is for you to be uncomfortable."
Your face flushed furiously, "N-Noé don't be ridiculous, we're already past that part of 'sleeping arrangements'", you said remembering last night. Noé was hesitant, he didn't want to do anything you didn't like. He was frightened it would look like he had allterior motives. You reassured him that you'd feel comfortable with him at your side. So Noé gave in. You asked Noé to hug you, and he did. His chin rests on the top of your head, your face in his chest with your arms around his neck. The two of you stays like this in silence for a bit. The calming feeling of Noé's hand rubbing your back, gently lulling you to sleep. Noé picked up on what you said, slightly blushing as a reaction. "You..Mean— but is that okay with you?"
"Im positive"
Noé couldn't hide nor wanted to, he like the Idea of keeping you safe at night. "Alright, we can alwaya change sleeping arrangements anytime, how you like. Ok?" You nodded. Noé cleared his throat spreading out cooking instruments infront of him,"Now then! What is it that you want for breakfast hm?" You don't even remember the last time you had something for breakfast- you never really ate breakfast to begin with. Stumped on what to ask for, Noé give a suggestion.
"Have you ever had a crêpe?" You shook your head,"No, I've heard of it before but never tried it." Your eyes widened, realizing that Noé intended to cook. "Wait are you going to cook?" Noé nodded, tilting his head in confusion. "H-How about I help you?"
"What? You're a guest, surely you're joking. I can't make you do that." Out of the last few years getting to know Noé. As much as a sweetheart he was, he didn't know how to cook. Somehow convincing himself that everything he made was delicious. "Please Noé? I promise I'll be of good assistance."
"Nope."
"Please Noé?", you ask again.
Once again, he turns down the offer,"Not a chance Y/n." Once done gathering baking items for breakfast he would soon be making he turned to you. Only to be caught up by those endearing, irresistible pupple dog eyes. "Please Noé? Just this once?" He turns away..."Fine, you win– grab an apron."
Once the both of you were ready, you and Noé had gotten the first few ingredients together and prepared to mix. Now handing Noé the large metal bowl, observing his actions to make sure he didn't mess up. Flour, sugar, salt and eggs- Noé took a whisk and began harshly mixing, in the proncess accidentally spilling some of the batter. You shook your head is displeasure,"Oh Noé..."
He smiled softly,"Whoops! Sorry Y/n."
"It's okay but..", you leaned in close to Noé, gently wrapping your arm around him. "Let me help, your whisking is a bit..uh—". Your hands on his, guiding him on the proper way to whisk. "See, Noé use your wrist instead of moving your arm- and go gentle."
Light laughter surfaces,"Whats so funny?", you asked Noé. You didn't realize you'd completely taken over the cooking. Noé was on the side of you leaning onto the counter watching you this time. You blush bashfuly,"O-Oh..I'm sorry Noé. When I get focused, I tend to—." Noé cuts in,"Don't apologize. Its endearing Chéri."
Your heart pounds vigorously, with his romantic gaze on you like that...You're heart was sure to fall out of your chest. He was so cute..fuck! You continued to help Noé and guide him, in the end you make perfect crêpes...In taste anyhow...
"Noé"
"Yes?"
"Um..Are they supposed to look like that?" He gasps, dramatically,"Chéri! Don't you know?"
"Know what?"
"Don't judge a book by its cover." You look at Noé raising your brow..
"Right..Im just saying because it doesn't look like the image on the recipe."
"Just take a bite! I promise its fine! Besides I helped make it." You sighed thinking to yourself, 'Thats the problem Noé..You were mainly the one trying to cook and you cannot do so.'
Noé held a knife and fork, cutting the monstrous creation the you helped make. Cutting it with the knife, he scooping it up and holding it up to your lips. Without hesitation your lips part taking in the food.
Surprisingly, It tasted fine. "Noé, you're right...it's really good!"
His grin follows him ear to ear. Once again he was so cute, you didn't want to tell him otherwise even if it was bad, the taste definitely made up for how bad it looked. Taking some whipped cream from your breakfast on your finger you lean over the table rubbing it on his nose.
"Well thats not nice Y/n.", he chuckled.
"Its a way of saying thanks for the breakfast."
"Of course ma belle chéri, anytime."
The two of you finished the breakfast, enjoying every bite of it. In the end the plate messy with whip cream. "I'll take this to the kitchen—".
"Wait, Noé..",your eyes shed their natural brown color. "I do apologize in advance, but—",you stopped mid-sentence grabbing the messy plate and setting it to the side. Your fingers getting a little left over whip cream,"I am a little thirsty."
Noé didn't expect this, you never drank from him before..you didn't need to. Being half vampire didn't require to survive off blood. You needed normal food. Nonetheless, he was always willing to provide. You swiped the whip cream from your fingers to his neck. He gave himself up to you. Placing around you, pulling you into a hug.
Your tongue tracing his tanned skin to where the whip cream was; biting him there. Little grunts are released from him. When you pulled away, your eyes met.
"Sorry for the sudden bite-", you apologized as your fingers touched the wound site.
"Don't apologize, It's only fair. I bit you this morning chéri.", he reassured with a smile,"Besides! I've offered myself to you many times and you've finally gave in. Take as much as you need. Okay?"
"Good..Im about to take a little more", you warned. Going to the opposite side of Noé's neck before bitting. One hand cups his cheek and the other on his shoulder. Noé yelps at the puncture, grasping your wrists.
Seems like for once, getting bit by a vampire..It hurt a bit. His breathing, heavy.."Hah...Y/n", a sigh escapes. His fingers slightly tighten around your wrists.
Once you're done with your feed, you pull away. Noé looks up at with crimson puppy eyes. "How does my blood taste?"
"Its beyond exquisite..I can't really find the words", you shyly scratch your chin. "That makes me happy. I'm glad you like it."
"I hope it didn't hurt too much?"
Noé leans to the side in dismay,"Noo of course not!" It was quite obvious you'd taken quite a bit of blood, he was a bit dizzy. So strange, he shows symptoms of humans when you take too much blood.
"Oh Noé, come on lets sit on the couch for a while. Let your dizziness subsidie."
"Yes ma'am!"
You sigh of relief, what would you do without this cutie?

Can someone explain—

—ALL OF THIS?!
Thank you.💜
+ she forgets but it’s heavily implied that not only vampire and human existed (cf chapter 51 when Luna mentioned they belong to no other species in this world), there is a lot more deep story behind Luna and Nenia, Nenia and Noe, maybe Noe and Luna, The Teacher/Shapeless One and Luna… I’m hasty to see the following of the story
SPOILER VANITAS CHAP55/56
So if you read those chapters you know the marquis de Sade is also named Comte de Saint Germain.
You may have done the same research as me but I wanted to share that to those who didnt!
Since I’m french and an history passionate I knew the comte de Saint Germain was someone very special, he died at the age of 93 (officially) but there is a lot of stories behind the character of the comte de saint Germain.
You may know it but he was known to be an Alchemist.
In the popular legendes the Comte de Saint germain was known to be immortals and having created elixir for the immortality. He was known for remembering his past lifes and he could tell the stories of the Babylone courtyard.
He loved to say he knew how to erased the diamonds default.
NOW why am I writing something you can read on Wikipedia?
Here is my theory:
The Marquis Sade (Comte de saint germain) is the Alchimist ou created the vampire and became one himself while searching the elixir of immortality. The Shapeless destroyed his own body in his research and that’s why he is shapeless
The diamonds could be the astremite (perfect stones changed by alchemy). Also Luna mentioned in chapter 48 that they live in an old human friend’s house (nothing say that he is still human)
I think Luna’s old friend may be the comte de saint Germain now known as the marquis de Sade.
We know that Vampire exists because an alchemist tried to give immortality to humans.
I REMIND YOU that the marquis de Sade can Shapeshift and change his name and in History the comte de saint Germain liked to say he lived in Babylone (-2340 to -141 before J.C) and died in 1784. So the marquis de Sade could have been named Paracelse in the babylone courtyard.
By the way it’s the marquis de Sade that read the Babel Disaster to Noe, as the real Comte de saint germain liked to do.
I’m really excited about this theory that I hope will become canon.
Healing and Identity
One of my favorite aspects of the fight between Noé and Vanitas starting chapter 49 is the fact, that Noé is saving Vanitas in the same way Vanitas saves vampires.
The influence of "The Book of Vanitas" leaves vampires in a state of abscense of reason and reflection, merely driven by destructive desires. As in: Drink blood.
Vanitas on the other hand is under the influence of Luna's words/hypnosis(?) and his own autosuggestion. He as well is merely driven by a singular destructive desire. As in: Kill "that Vampire".
Both, Vanitas and Vampires, are driven by the urge to hurt and kill. Things neither of them wants. This is especially relevant for Vanitas, whose free will is essential for his self image which is now stripped away from him. Furthermore, this loss of free will/control is tied to loss of identity. Both the curse and Vanitas' state of hypnosis are characterized by a dissolvation of identity. The Vampire's curse dissolve their identity and the sense of self. Healing involves self-recognization and reconcelation with ones own identity. This is portrayed especially prominently in Chloé's character arc, where the process of healing is tied to recognizing herself and her true wishes (to be loved for who she is). Chloé's healing involves also the recognition and acceptance of the positive feelings other harbor towards her. Since the curse corrupts the true name of the vampire and therefore their whole being, it can be said that the dissolvation of identity is internal.
In Vanitas' case he is no longer able to recognize Noé for who he is. Noé's identity desolves for him into the undefinded mass of "that vampire". Therefore the dissolvation of identity for Vanitas is external.
Both Vanitas and the Vampires are shown to be suffering in this state.
The importance of self-reflection and its healing effects are shown within the battle through Noé. He literally reflects himself and his behaivour by looking into a mirror. He is shocked by what he sees, being confronted with a side of himself he neither knew nor wanted ("Have I looked like this all the time?"). He as well is influenced and controlled by outside forces: Mikhail's thoughts and feelings.
Noé's own desperation towards Vanitas unwillingness to help Dominique in itself does not trigger the violence. On the opposite, Noé tries to reach out, wants Vanitas to tell him his past, so he doesn't have to drink his blood and calls his want for Domi to be saved as "selfish". Noé's own desperation grows, as Vanitas declines and lashes out and leaves no hope for agreement. So Noé attacks him - this is how it seems at first.
But Noé's inner monoloque reveals that his mind is mixed with Mikahil's destructive, harmful hatered and desire for vengance towards Vanitas.
It is Mikahil's feelings that make Noé fight and attack.
He knows this feelings are not his, but is unable to stop himself from acting according to them. Even though not as strongly manipulated as Vanitas and is still able to control his actions (stopping himself from attacks that would kill Vanitas). It is Mikahil's feelings that ultimately trigger Noé's actions, but it is Noé's own desperation to save Domi, snap Vanitas out of the hypnosis and his pure willingness to just survive that keep him fighting. But this means giving in to a violent side that he, who can't bear hurting anyone, comes in touch with more than he his comfortable. But in the heat of the battle, caught in the situation, under Vanitas' constant attacks, he is unable to notice. By looking in the mirror, Noé is finally able to pause and to reflect himself, his actions - and he reflects upon Vanitas. He asks himself "And how did you look?" Due to the reflection Noé is able to see Vanitas' pain, horror, distress and helplessness and sadness behind his cruel selfish facade. He recognizes Vanitas' loneliness, the meaning behind his words (in example: that being alone means "freedom" for Vanitas. Later, Noé reassures Vanitas - who is still hypnotised - that he will never "set you free" aka "never leave you alone".)
He sees Vanitas true feelings, his true self, his "true name" if you will.
Noé reflects and stops the fight. Breaks the circle of attack and counterattack. Chooses a different path to save Vanitas. The path not of violence, but of empathy.
What follows is that Noé reintroduces himself to Vanitas. Actually the scene reflects their first meeting with them physically fighting over how to deal with extreme life or death situation. An [in Domi's case seemingly] accursed Vampire to be precise. Noé always being the one to openly help and trying to protect those in need, while Vanitas using violence that cover his true intentions and his motivation becoming clearer only later.
The most important aspect of this reintroduction is Noé's wording here:
"My name is Noé Archiviste. I'm not <that vampire>"
He accentuates his name or rather, he gives his name back to Vanitas. And with his name his identity. Therefore he is able to reach Vanitas on an even deeper level than the hypnosis goes. But similar to Chloé, the acutal healing has to come from within, from Vanitas himself. This process is portrayed as an inner battle between what the hypnosis tells Vanitas and Vanitas will and his true feelings (even though he is not conscious about it in this moment, after all it is still worded as a question "why can't I kill?"). At the beginning, Vanitas still try to kills Noé. But he can't. Still under influence of the hypnosis, desperately asking why. He still can't. And he breaks down.
Both Chloé and Vanitas learned something through Jean-Jaques and Noé respectively: They are not alone. Someone is there for them, no matter what.
Overcoming the hypnosis is also overcoming the past and opening up for something, someone new. Something Mikhail is unable to. The inability of leaving the past behind driving force and central theme of this arc. In the end both Vanitas and Dominique are able to overcome the past. Just as Chloé did.
Both acts, Vanitas saving Vampires and Noé (a Vampire) saving Vanitas, are about the themes of loss of identity and loss of control.
While Vanitas gives the vampires their true name back (an internal process within the Vampire), Noé doesn't give Vanitas his name. But Noé names himself. Re-establishes his identity to Vanitas. It saves them both.
Both acts give form to the formless.
Both acts accure due to the reflection and re-recognition of ones own self and identity: the Vampires recognize their true name, Noé reflecting on himself as he sees in the mirror and Vanitas escapes the hypnosis. But it's not an isolated process, to the contrary. The importance of the other and the bonds with other people are essential for self-recognition: Vanitas is able to recognize the true names of Vampries, Noé understands Vanitas' true feelings behind his facade and Vanitas is finally recognizing Noé and espaces his hypnotic state.
While the process is given supernatural coating when it comes to the use of the Book, within Noé saving Vanitas the process is shown in it's rawest form and that is understanding and empathy.
Thanks for reading! Please note that english is not my first language and I'm sorry for this being so messy!!
