Working With Kids - Tumblr Posts

I was working with a ten year old today who’s actually a genius writer. He likes to mess with me so first he wrote “we should use solar panels because the penguins say so” but after arguing with him for like five minutes he changed it to “we should use solar panels instead of polluting our big blue bubble” and that goes so hard?!

Earlier this week one of my students told me there’s a book fair at her school so I told her how much I miss book fairs. So she told me she’d buy me a chapter book. Of course, I told her that I have plenty of chapter books and she should save her money for herself.

I come to work today and she actually gives me a book. Here it is:

I really go to work every day and teach kids to ask before using things that don’t belong to them just to come home and see my adult roommates use my dishes without asking

A boy at my job was talking to me about how he was best friends with Freddy Fazbear, I do think he genuinely believes it and that’s what I love about little kids

talking to preschoolers is awesome bc they have not fully differentiated stories into 'true stories' and 'imaginary stories' yet so you will tell them about something that happened you once (coyote came out of a bush right in front of you and got startled) and they will tell you about how one time their house was full of coyotes in every room 'including five in the garage' and they're not even like, aware i think of the idea that they are technically 'lying'. they are simply telling stories about coyotes bc its time to tell stories about coyotes.
