Unexpected [Indulgent Self Insert]

Uh...yeah....Indulgent self-insert of a separate Pokemon cross over universe. Professor Karume Arjun moves to Hellsalem's Lot since there isn't a professor in that area after deeming it separate from the rest of the United States.
(Klaus)
Klaus leaned back from a game of Prosfair, today they were to help escort several Pokemon transport trucks to a new Lab for one Professor Arjun. She seemed like a well-respected official, if you asked other professors or reasearchers. But the general public weren't too fond of her or her research.
Klaus was mixed himself. On the one hand, seeing those portals rip open the sky some ten years ago, only for these bizarre creatures identified as Pokemon to come spilling forth was terrifying. Second only to The Great Collapse.
On the other, Professor Arjun was a behavioral analyst. Her entire body of published articles were about how to avoid problems with wild Pokemon and proper training methods. So it wasn't like she was doing anything that would get anyone injured.
Perhaps it would be best to not think about it. The only reason Libra was called as an escort was because of how dangerous the Pokemon were. Though, they did have to head out now if they were going to be a proper envoy.
(Professor Arjun)
Waiting for these trucks was the worst, but there was no way around it. Rescued Pokemon were always difficult to transport, especially the ones that suffered the way these had.
Professor Krane called them "Shadow Pokemon". His assistant Rui had coined the term. But really, they just didn't want to be close to humans again. Karume wouldn't want to be close to other humans either, not after being treated like a tool the way these Pokemon had, forced to fight to the death in underground rings.
A soft sigh escaped the tired Professor. Setting up a whole lab with zero help in under three weeks had been no easy task. And her work was barely begining.
The sound of trucks pulling to a stop outside brought the professor back to reality. Her own Pokemon would have to help carry in the cages, specifically her Gardevoir and Gallade. Their psychic abilities would be the safest option.
But first, to make sure the people escorting the Pokemon didn't get themselves hurt.
(Normal)
Leo was hyped to be on this mission. He did idolize Professor Arjun for her work. Even more so when she was helping oversee the training for Michella's seeing-eye Lillipup. It had evolved since then, but it was still the most helpful companion his sister could ask for. More than other people in some cases.
Though that was the extent of it. Leo hadn't really known a time when he wasn't nervous around other Pokemon. Well-trained Pokemon were one thing, he could calm his nerves a little. But the sounds from the back of the truck had suggested nearly wild Pokemon.
Were they wild? Or was it just being in cages that set them off? Leo couldn't be certain.
"So, any idea what this crazy chic is really like? I mean. She works with Pokemon of all things." Zapp was being his usual self, though a hint of nerves was showing, "Like she's gotta have a couple screws loose, right?"
"I'm sure she's perfectly sane." Zed commented, "Her research is quite thorough and her methods can be replicated easily. You're the one with screws loose."
It had not been a very fun trip.
Steven blinked at the rather odd Professor. She fit the whole working with Pokemon part down to a T, physically fit and muscular looking under the lab coat. But also looking a bit wild and bored??? Steven didn't really know what to make of her. This was the Professor sent to Hellsalem's Lot by the League.
Though, she seemed to scan everyone, sizing them all up in one swift glance.
Even Klaus felt somehow small under that gaze, despite being rather kind. The professor was the first to move forward, extending a hand towards Klaus.
"Its nice to meet you, I'm Professor Karume Arjun."
"Klaus von Reinherz." Klaus was ever gentle even in his confusion over being approached so casually, "Would you like some assistance? Or do you have other staff to help unload these Pokemon?"
"Tempting Mr. Reinherz" Professor Arjun smiled warmly, "But I have things handled. I'd rather avoid injury of your people."
Before Klaus could respond, or anyone could really, one of the trucks revved up again. Speeding off with the driver yelling about how Hellsalem's Lot didn't need a professor at all. And before Libra could respond, Professor Arjun was sprinting headlong in that direction.
Klaus instructed Leonardo, Zapp, and Zed to guard the remaining trucks while Chain, K.K. Steven and himself chased down the runaway, and the professor.
Upon turning the corner after the truck, Klaus gasped at seeing such a large Pokemon dashing so nimbly through the streets. Professor Arjun upon its back as if she did this regularly. The large black furred Pokemon leapt gracfully, latching onto the truck and sticking with massive claws sinking into the metal.
Professor Arjun called out, "Trix. Tor."
A Gallade and Gardevoir appeared in a burst of light, using their psychic powers to steady themselves and lift the truck off the ground. Professor Arjun dismounted her Luxray and returned him to the Pokeball.
Steven marveled at the sheer prowess of the Pokemon, more so at the person currently controlling them with ease. Was this the true power of having a loyal Pokemon by one's side?
Gilbert pulled the car around safely to the side and stopped. Even he had to stop and stare a few moments at someone so capable of commanding these powerful creatures without a word. Perhaps the Professor could teach him this kind of training. Head Maid Catherine Bates had hinted in her last call about an update in training Pokemon after Master Reinherz Sr. had discovered this professor's research.
Professor Arjun floated gently down, watching intently as Trix, her Gardevoir, and Tor, her Gallade, carefully extracted the driver from the cab of the truck. She was certain that the police had been informed and would wait, at least until she didn't have to worry about someone attempting to shoot the back of the truck.
She wasn't waiting long as Trix and Tor lowered the truck to a smattering of applause. Klaus and Steven felt their jaws drop as the Professor praised her Pokemon before returning them to their Pokeballs.
K.K. was standing off to the side, she really came all this way with them just to watch a kick a$$ professor do their job but better. Well, at least with far less damage then they could really do. But she had to admit, those were some cool looking creatures. One absolutely beautiful the other more stead fast.
K.K. considered looking into a pet Pokemon for her boys, given how Leo had gushed about his sister's assistant Pokemon. Chain on the other hand was more impressed with the over-sized fluffy Pokemon the Professor had ridden.
■■■
Klaus was passing by the lab with Steven. Nearly a month had passed since they first met the professor. While she had remained a relatively quiet and polite person, only ever interfering in incidents involving Pokemon, Klaus had several burning questions for her.
Steven could tell this, he'd spent long enough by Klaus's side to just know when he needed external permission to follow his whims.
"Why don't we see about making an appointment to chat with Professor Arjun? Worst that could possibly happen is she's booked until New Years."
Klaus chuckled a tiny bit, unaware he was even showing any kind of intrigue in the building they were about to pass.
"I don't see why we couldn't check upon it in person."
Steven smirked a bit, turning back to enter the lab. Yep, he knew his red-haired friend a little too well sometimes.
Both were met with quite the sight though. Professor Arjun had a large flying scorpion Pokemon clinging to her back. Not to mention several smaller Pokemon following her every step. It was a wonder she was able to move at all without tripping.
"Yes, I understand the delay. Of course. Yes, thank you." Professor turned, sliding her phone into her shirt pocket with a sigh, "Can I help you gentlemen?"
Of course she didn't miss a beat. Though Klaus was a bit nervous to see so many Pokemon all at once.
"Good afternoon Professor." Steven broke the ice, "We were hoping to set up a short meeting to discuss a couple things."
Professor Arjun opened her mouth to reply, but was cut off by her phone. Instead having to answer.
"Hello. Professor Arjun speaking."
Were there no other staff members here? Why was she swarmed with Pokemon? Klaus had more questions and still no answers. Though she was polite about having to take a call from Professor Sonia Magnolia.
Their conversation was about the still continuing space-time rifts that popped up from time to time. They were mostly avoidable, but every so often they were random and rather distructive. Yet the Pokemon found inside were never any more dangerous than any other found naturally.
"Forgive me for that." Professor Arjun turned to Klaus and Steven again, "You were saying?"
"We would like to schedule a meeting Professor." Klaus was a little too nervous and was talking louder than he intended, "To discuss possible assistance in training our own Pokemon."
Professor Arjun's eyebrow raised up, threatening to disappear in her hair, "Training for what precisely? To battle competitively, raise as pets, or field work?"
"Field work. Similar to how you use your own Pokemon in confrontations."
"Hm..." Klaus relaxed as she did, but still waited with baited breath, "That's rather difficult training. Quite extensive. And you aren't exactly affiliated with the police or I would've seen you before now."
Both were sweating a little around the collar.
"If you have a moment right now. I could at least get a couple answers before giving my own. It sounds odd, but so will the questions I need to ask." Klaus and Steven looked at each other with suspicious looks, "Would you step into my office? Uh...my private office. I don't think discussing this in an room where anyone can burst in is a good idea."
Both nodded at the Professor and followed her into a rather small office covered in small pet beds with a comfortable looking tiny sofa and desk. The Pokemon dispersed to various beds and playing with one another, except the Gligar across her back, which stayed attached to her as she sat on a stool, offering the more comfortable seating to her guests. Klaus eased onto the couch while Steven sat in the chair.
"So, you mentioned field work. That wouldn't happen to be like....fang hunting field work, would it?"
Klaus sat forward, his surprise mirrored by Steven, "Absolutely what we meant. Do you have experience with fang hunters?"
"Very little. One man called 'Lucky' I think. Poor man was being followed by a wild Absol." Professor Arjun leaned back a little, "I figured out fairly quickly why but he was very talkative about....blood breeds?"
Steven groaned. Of course Lucky would be lowkey trying to recruit a powerful Pokemon trainer, "Yes, its the term we use for vampires. Its a more accurate term."
"Ah....then I wouldn't recommend you train Pokemon."
Klaus furrowed his brow, "How come Professor?"
"I'm sure there's no lack of skill or dedication in either of you nor your team. But the training itself is extensive and time consuming." Professor Arjun looked apologetic, "And from what little information I do have. You don't have a lot of time to spare between your jobs to fully train a Pokemon, let alone a team."
Klaus and Steven blinked slowly at the concern. The logical concern.
"Buuuuut, if you're dead set on doing so. I will do what I can to help you. I just can't recommend it with a clear conscious."
"We deeply appreciate the concern Professor." Klaus bowed his head slightly, "Though I assure you we can take our time training Pokemon properly. Though it's likely going to take longer than you're thinking since our job will take obvious priority over training."
Rainy Day [Zed x Reader]

This cozy little fic was requested by anonymous 🌈
Zed couldn't help your restlessness, nor could he truly sympathize with you. He didn't see a problem with the rain outside. He didn't see it as a reason to stay inside. He was perfectly fine to stand in the rain, if that's what you wanted to do, though he would leave his book inside.
You had paced around the balcony door for the third time when Zed finally had enough.
"[Name], please. Complaining about it won't do anything." Zed lowered his book to look at you, "If you want, I'll stand out there with you. But please try to sit still."
"I can't." Zed would have rolled his eyes if he could, "Going out could make me sick. Humans sorta... do that."
Zed tilted his head. He knew that staying wet in a cold environment was the fastest way for you to get sick. But were you really suggesting that going out in rain period would do that? And that was what you were worried about?
"I'm well aware that humans tend to get sick after being out in the rain... when its cold especially." Zed set his book down, "But you clearly want to go do something. So, what would help you calm down?"
He was thoroughly shocked when you briskly turned and sat next to him. Though your sudden hugging wasn't unwelcomed, just... sudden.
"I don't know."
Zed sighed. Of course you wouldn't know, but you'd still have your instincts. So, Zed followed those instead. Knowing you'd tell him if you didn't want him to do something.
Pulling you up into his lap, leaning back so the two of you were laying on the couch, with you laying on top of Zed. He rubbed your back in a wide sweeping motion, and had to admit it was rather relaxing to himself as well.
Between the soft drumming of the rain and Zed rubbing your back, you could have gone to sleep. Except, he started talking. You often forgot how sappy Zed got during rain storms.
"I don't want this to end." Zed sighed, "Holding you close like this. It has to be one of my favorite things to do."
You propped up on your chin carefully, "What would your favorite thing be then?"
"This."
You weren't expecting Zed to stretch his neck forward to kiss you, but it was a softly sweet kiss. The kind that made your heart flutter.
Both of you adjusted on the couch to be more comfortable. Slow kisses filling the ticking hours, neither of you realizing the rain had stopped.
Random scene in the office.
Zed "helping" Leo psych himself up to talk to his Libra crush by listening to his pick up lines.
Leo "So, you come here often?"
Zed, looking up from his book, "I would hope so. They work here."
I'm pretty sure Steven and I would fight every morning around the coffee pot.
Evidence: I add a good bit of cream and sugar to my coffee, some die hard coffee drinkers say its a blasphemous amount but...
And the argument would follow us into the main office area (commonly called a bull pit), causing general chaos in our stead.
Chain, Leo, and Zed would just shrug it off knowing after a 5 minute cool down, the two of us will be cracking weird jokes about things like Les Misrables and politics.
Zapp would be trying to agitate both sides so the argument doesn't stop.
K.K. would probably sit closer to the middle on my side of the argument, if she's in the office at the time.
And poor Klaus would be trying to keep the peace. Even though we've had the same argument every morning this week, we'll have the same argument tomorrow, and probably every day until the sun explodes...
Not that Klaus is forgetful or anything, he just fully believes that once an argument is over then it should stay over.
Unfortunately for him, Steven and I don't back down from arguing that the other is performing coffee blasphemy.

Zed + 7 Making Decorations
.
The kitchen table had never been so messy, not to Zed's memory at least. But it wasn't without purpose. The bottles of glitter, a large box of glue sticks, and all manner of paper. Zed would be lying to say he wasn't having fun, sitting here making weird little decorations.
"Here."
Zed reached over to pull a stray piece of construction paper from your hair. Not noticing this, you'd leaned in for a little kiss. One that completely surprised Zed, making him forget about the little scrap of paper entirely. Though both of you chuckled at the miscommunication, after Zed actually explained what he meant to do.

Day 2 [Steven/ Zed/ Daniel]
Prompt: Pining Heart
Steven
"That's the third time you've picked your coffee up simply to put it back down Steven," Klaus frowned across the table, "Is there something wrong?"
The dark-haired man just blinked a couple times. Admitting to this would only make things worse, but Klaus would likely try to force Steven into an off day if he didn't.
"I've just been thinking about [Name]." He was slow to say it, even to Klaus, avoiding eye contact as well, "I just can't seem to get them off my mind lately."
Steven happened to glance at Klaus at the end of his confession, only to find that tiny, knowing, kitten smile of his looking back at him. Meaning Steven looked away, hiding his flustered blushing as best he could behind the coffee mug. It was bad enough that K.K. was on his case over this. Now Klaus was thinking the same way.
It wasn't like they'd like him the same way. Not a chance...
.
Zed
Zed was hesitant to approach his own coworker to ask them out to lunch. And with Zapp in his ear about how someone like you wouldn't be caught dead hanging around someone like Zed, well that only made things worse.
Even if Zed knew that was a complete lie. You were more opposed to being seen around Zapp than anyone else in the office, truth be told. He still felt strange asking you to go to lunch, as friends of course. Zed would likely die if he actually asked you out on a real date.
And yet, before he could walk off in pseudo-defeat, Zed felt a warm finger tapping at his elbow, and nearly jumped for multiple reasons. Starting with the fact that you were so close to him without him noticing, and ending with the fact that it was you.
"Hey, I was about to go to Chiro's for lunch, did you wanna come with?" Zed's heart sped up involuntarily at how you tilted your head, "I thought I'd offer since we're the only ones in the office right now."
Why was this lump in his throat refusing to go down? "Y-yeah, sure [Name]."
.
Daniel
This was torment for Daniel, and downright embarrassing to boot. He shouldn't feel this way at his age, not over such a pure drop of sunshine like [Name]. To make matters worse, they worked at the coffee house he frequented, so being nice to him first thing in the morning was just part of their job.
He couldn't bring himself to be flirty, just awkward and a little shy. And for someone his age, in his profession, it was unacceptable. He is a detective, a police officer, he shouldn't fall for the cute barista down the road. He shouldn't be like--
"Oh! Hey Lieutenant." Daniel froze next to his mailbox, slowly turning to the friendly voice, "Nice day huh?"
He barely had his composure but, "Oh yeah, real nice. But uh, ya don't have to call me Lieutenant all the time."
Daniel felt his stomach folding at the sweet, innocent look on your face, "Well I uh... never actually caught your name. You always order as Lieutenant Law so..."
"Oh yeah... oops." He could only hope he wasn't cherry red right now, "My name's Daniel. Or, ya know, you can call me Dan..."
Daniel was trailing off awkwardly, not even sure he should continue speaking. This was so embarrassing for him, the butterflies, the way his heart was doing backflips. He was a man in his thirties and here he was, heart pounding like he was a damn teenager. Though it was over an extremely cute person so maybe it wasn't all bad.
"Daniel..." He was done for, you were just too perfect, "I like it. It suits you."
"Y-y-yeah."
It wasn't even a particularly warm day, but Daniel was in danger of melting on the spot.
![Day 9 [Klaus/ Zed/ Raju]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2442b521f116980887ed58dc0e4bbc49/69bd626deaf6290c-b1/s500x750/8dd61a93e58bd7b93ab553aa55e6b7112ebbfb95.jpg)
Day 9 [Klaus/ Zed/ Raju]
Prompt: "I've made better choices, I have to admit"
Klaus
Having woken with a splitting headache, Klaus was not the least bit surprised to find himself in the hospital. He was grateful to be waking up at all, though the pained faces he saw twisted his heart in knots. From his close friends and teammates, Klaus half expected their misconceptions of having caused Klaus's injuries. What he wasn't expecting was you standing there like a ghost.
For once, Klaus couldn't read your face at all. He was able to placate everyone else and convince them he would bounce back easily. Telling them what they already knew, what they wanted to hear. But you were the last person to move at all. Refusing Steven's offer to go home just yet.
While Klaus was overall delighted to have a few moments alone with you, part of him dreaded what might come next.
"[Name], Liebling." Klaus reached towards you as you sat, same glassy stare, "I've made better choices I must admit."
Klaus couldn't bring himself to chuckle, not even half-heartedly at his own poorly executed joke. But seeing you not even react to his touch was deeply concerning to Klaus.
"Please, what's wrong Shatzi?"
"This." That cold and distant tone didn't suit you at all, "Seeing you like this isn't right. People like you don't get hurt, not like this. All these tubes and wires and--"
Klaus gently covered your mouth with his thumb. He knew what you meant, he agreed with you on some level, and yet...
"Liebling, this is the unfortunate underside of my job." He tried to coax you into looking at him, "I may fall, but I know I've done everything in my power to protect the people I treasure most. I struggle towards the light no matter how badly it might break my body. No matter the hell I have to go through, the fact that I'm protecting you, ensuring that you can go on and live whatever dreams that you'd fancy. I--"
"Can you stop that?!"
Klaus blinked, confused. You were unable to keep everything from spilling out. Klaus was the one hurt, you should have been strong for his sake. But you just couldn't take how he was talking at the moment.
You finally met his steady gaze, "You're injured. But you're still trying to comfort me. Where is the limit of your... of your..."
"Liebling--"
"Why do you have to be so perfectly selfless?"
You finally snapped, unable to get a full sentence out due to your crying. Hiccuping incomplete thoughts and apologies, trying to hide from Klaus but not really. Klaus knew you didn't mean to lash out like that, he understood just how it hurt you to see him like this.
To see that he just didn't falter even after nearly breaking every bone in his body.
.
.
Zed
There was too much going on at the moment. Zed was trying to ignore the blood staining his tank top, the way your breathing was slowing down from over his shoulder, and the words coming out of your mouth as he carried you through the dense jungle.
"I've made better choices..." You were struggling with breathing, "I have to admit."
"[Name], save your strength. We're almost out."
"I don't regret what I did back there." You needed to get this out, you didn't know if you would make it out, "I did what I had to do. Because I love you... I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
"I love you too sweetheart." Zed huffed a little as he climbed over a large root, "But please save your energy. We're almost out of here."
"Zed..."
The panic Zed felt as your head dropped against his shoulder was paralyzing. Everything was spinning in his mind, even moving forward felt wrong somehow. But he had to get you to safety, to someone who could help you.
Raju
Floating just at the foot of your hospital bed was something Raju never wanted to see. He knew you were a fang hunter, injuries would happen. But this time it was just too far. All these machines hooked up to make sure you were okay. He couldn't stand seeing you like this.
You were so weak looking and he hated it.
Raju almost fell out of the air when you stirred. Floating so close to you he might as well be on top of you. His glowing eyes burrowing into your soul.
"I've made better choices I have to admit."
No response. Raju just hovered there, blinking and watching your every move. Every slight wince as you moved and breathed. You couldn't brush any of this under the rug, Raju was worried and pissed.
"What were you doing to end up like this?"
Raju's voice was practically knives as he spoke. You knew why he wanted this information.
"It was a demon beast, a natural one." You said slowly, "Klaus mentioned it was handled before I passed out from the pain killers."
Raju sighed in a strained way. Weighing his options, what did he really want at the moment?
You were pleasantly surprised when he settled carefully around your shoulder. Stroking your hair slowly and just breathing. There wasn't anything he could say in this moment, nothing he could really do. Just sit here and make sure you were safe.
![Day 12 [Klaus/ Zed/ Lucky]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2442b521f116980887ed58dc0e4bbc49/6bdba0d524872a29-27/s500x750/a39766d8f148fde7c6cd859f32db0b0b0f384c59.jpg)
Day 12 [Klaus/ Zed/ Lucky]
Prompt: "Take me instead"
Klaus
Klaus couldn't believe his eyes, trapped by the blood breed that had tried to turn him. You had been blindsided as well, Klaus forced to watch helplessly as you were tossed to the side like a ragdoll. Both of your best attempts were thwarted in swift actions only for the blood breed to completely disregard you in favor of Klaus.
"Now then..."
It sneered down menacingly, and Klaus struggled to move. How did this creature get the upper hand? Why was it after Klaus again? Mr. Abrams had sealed that part of him away, it would be pointless for the blood breed to try and turn Klaus at this point.
"Wait!" Klaus's fearful gaze turned to you as you cried out, "Take me instead."
The blood breed's sneer curled up into a sickening grin. Klaus couldn't even feel his own heart beating. He wanted to stop you, he needed to stop you. Klaus didn't want to lose you like this. He didn't want to lose you at all.
~~~~~
"Nooo!"
Klaus sat up in bed with a roar. Startling you right off the other side causing you to crash to the floor. Your head popped up, ready to fight... something. But you were just met by the sight of your lover panting heavily, eyes shut tightly, hands sliding over his face.
It made you hesitate to climb back up on the bed, you didn't know what made Klaus react like that.
"Klaus?" His head jerked up, swiveling to see you standing beside the bed, "Are you okay? Do you wanna talk about whatever you just woke up from?"
You panicked when you saw tears forming in Klaus's eyes, scrambling up on the bed to try and comfort him to the best of your ability. Only to be squished in the tightest of hugs as Klaus buried his face against your neck.
Whatever had spooked Klaus, you knew it had to be horrible... and likely a dream where he lost you in some way.
.
Zed
This was harrowing. Zed couldn't think of a way out of this situation at all. He knew going to a comedy show like this was a bad idea. There was a huge spotlight shining down right on top of him, several people either clicking their tongues in disgust or urging him to go up on the stage.
He blamed you for this nonsense. And he would refuse to accompany you to any other "oh it'll be fun" social ventures for quite some time.
Zed never should have raised his hand to take your place on stage like that. He regretted saying "take me instead" to a bunch of performers whose job was to make fun of people.
Sure, he meant to do it to keep you from dealing with the social anxiety of being up on stage. But he detested how many "fish-boy" jokes were being thrown his way. It was as if he were surrounded by an army of Zapp doppelgangers, at least personality-wise.
You would owe him something when all this was over with. Maybe a quiet day at home for once... Zed would have to think about it, that's for sure.
.
Lucky
How was this a normal occurrence for you? Lucky had to stop and ponder the severity of the situation, despite you constantly trying to tell him this was not the time for that.
"Just move!" You frantically pushed your lover through the trees, "You can think about this later Blitz!"
"But--!"
You shoved Blitz into a small hollow of a tree, he was jammed in just so he couldn't wiggle out. Not for his lack of trying. But it was far too late, the metamorph entity that had been trailing both of you was gaining, fast.
"Move mortal." Its voice was raspy, cold. Like a winter wind over a frozen lake, "I seek the other."
"Why?" You were trembling all over, but standing your ground. Well, shifting to block the creature at every movement, "Why do you want Blitz?"
"It is inevitable..."
"Take me instead!" Everything seemed to freeze in place, especially Lucky from his squished position in the tree, "If it's a pound of flesh you need, then take me!"
The cold laugh the creature gave off made your spine crawl, "Very well brave one. I can make do with a different human just this once..."
Lucky tried to free himself from the tree far more vigorously than before. That thing hadn't been after you at all. And yet you willingly gave yourself up for his sake.
He needed to track this thing down and fast. Just as soon as he could get free from the blasted tree!
![Day 18 [Zapp/ Zed/ Raju]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/547f40c16166622fc6a397eafaacdcab/d9391a073130ca2d-01/s500x750/1b2781a4164fc9a2c478a06de9b99ddcab9107c1.jpg)
Day 18 [Zapp/ Zed/ Raju]
Prompt: Broken bone
Zapp
"Holy f&^k!" Zapp skid to a stop next to you, unsure what he was even looking at, "What the sh^t happened to you?!"
"You tell me smarta$$!" You bit back, looking at your own armbone like this was harrowing, "I mean honestly, it isn't rocket science!"
.
Zapp couldn't help but panic. Not only were you down for the count but you were losing blood fast. Even in the semi-paralysis, he felt his instincts took over. Wrapping your arm, trying to straighten the bone and hope that it would be sealed enough for someone to completely fix later on.
That did not stop him from pacing and thumping his foot whenever told to sit down. He needed to know you'd be okay, even if that meant you were stuck in a cast for a few months.
.
Zed
Zed checked his phone over and over. This wasn't like you at all, even if it was a simple emoji, you'd have answered his texts by now.
It wasn't until his phone buzzed loudly, nearly causing him to drop it, that Zed finally got his answer. You had been rushed straight to a hospital for several serious injuries.
Once he was in the room with you, Zed finally asked what all had been going on. Why would you need to be rushed in like this?
"I have several hairline fractures and one massive chip in my lower leg." You had to take deep breaths, "Everything else is just minor by comparison."
Zed shakily moved a chair over, "Elaborate. Please, for my sake."
"A couple of bruises along my spine and my shoulder joint popped out of place." You tried to move your arm as a demonstration, but Zed stopped you, "Literally everything else is minor cuts and scrapes. I promise."
"As long as you also promise not to over do it."
"I'll make no such promises..."
Zed frowned at your attempt at humor. But at least you tried to make light of the situation.
Raju Comes back after a long while and is stunned to see a cast and crutches
Another long time spent away from you meant Raju had no clue what to expect when he landed. Even so, seeing you all but boxed in on the couch was not something he thought he'd see... ever.
"And what happened?" Raju's voice made you jump, you hadn't heard him land, "Why is your foot up on the table? Why is it wrapped like that? Who did this to you?"
Your head dropped, it was an embarrassing story for you to repeat.
"First of all, I did this to myself... sorta." You turned toward Raju only to follow him as he hopped in front of you, "Second, its just a broken bone in my foot so I have to be extra careful with it."
"So what happened that you broke bones in your foot?"
Raju didn't know how to interpret the grimace across your face. But he wasn't going anywhere until you answered him... And you knew this.
"Well..." You really didn't want to tell this to anyone but... "I was helping Mrs. Orif bring her large dog in because it was about to rain. And the dog was tugging on the lead a bit too hard, half dragging me. So when my foot hit the concrete stairs... all my weight on the bone... it kinda went... snap"
Raju let out a grumpy sigh. Of course, you'd just have to go help someone else and get injured in the process. Though he had to concede if Mrs. Orif had tried to do so herself then the dog would have likely broken something more than a foot. But that was beside the point! Raju was still deeply upset that you got hurt at all. And refusing to let you get up without him hovering at your side. He would make sure you were safe until your foot healed.
Day 24 [Zed/ Lucky/ Raju]
Prompt: Missing limb
Zed
While Zed had always known humans to be very resilient, at least the ones he worked with, he wasn't prepared to see you in the hospital for something like this. He wasn't even sure if humans could bounce back from this. Losing a limb was usually too extreme.
And yet, despite Zed tailing you all day after you were released from the hospital, you proved him incredibly wrong.
Outside the motioning to use the left hand that was no longer there, you were adjusting to the missing arm fairly quickly. At least, that's how it seemed at first.
"Ow."
Zed stopped, looking at where you were. Though you had only bumped into the doorframe, Zed was by your side in an instant.
"What is it?" He was checking for what could have possibly happened, "What hit the doorframe?"
You were embarrassed to admit to this but... "Nothing. I just, I remember how much it hurt to knock my wrist into this doorframe. And because of how close I am to the edges, I had a little phantom pain."
Zed blinked a couple times, "Is... is that a common thing?"
"I don't know. It just happened though."
.
Lucky
No matter how many times Lucky saw you, the fact that you were missing an arm never quite set in for him. Sure, part of that was the low-grade prosthetic you wore, but you didn't wear it all that often around the apartment. Not that he ever looked at you with anything other than love. The look that on so many others felt like pity, felt like sympathy from him...
"How does this look?" You stepped out, wearing a loose jacket over your tank top, "Should cover up my arm well enough, right?"
Lucky had a small frown, to you he looked like he was thinking up a critique to say. Though, without a word, he walked closer, gently pulled the jacket off your right shoulder, and kissed at the squishy tissue just above the attachment base.
"Blitz!" You smacked him playfully, "That doesn't answer my question!"
"I know." The older man sighed, looking you in the eye, "But you shouldn't have to cover it up at all."
You couldn't help but look away, "It isn't that I have to do anything. I just hate how people stare. How they treat me when they know..."
"That's what I'm saying." Lucky tucked your head under his chin while he hugged you, "You are an amazing person. And you shouldn't need to cover up anything just because others can't see that. I'd stop them if I could."
"Blitz..." You nuzzled against his collarbone, just letting yourself feel normal. Because that's just how Lucky treated you... normal.
.
Raju
Landing in the window, Raju was looking for you instantly. This was completely normal for him to do, but when he saw you perched on crutches... his heart almost stopped. At first he thought he was just not seeing something, as if your leg was just up in front of you or something.
But no.
When you turned and Raju could see that you just didn't have your right foot or any leg under your knee for that matter, he felt dizzy.
You had to figure out how to drag Raju into your shared bedroom while on crutches. He had taken one look at you and fainted, but you weren't in a position to really carry anything. Part of you was dreading when he would wake up. This would not be an easy conversation.
It was dark by the time Raju finally stirred. One look around the room and he understood what must have happened. Staring at the glint of the silvery-grey crutches by your side of the bed, Raju didn't want to believe his own memories. But, quickly flicking the covers up proved it was all true. It also woke you up.
"Raju, can you not?" You reached for the covers to pull them back, "It isn't good to have sudden chills on the scars."
Raju lowered the covers, smoothing them out over you.
"Why are you scarred [Name]?"
"I was caught in the middle of something a little over a month ago." You yawned, dangerously close to falling straight back to sleep, "I passed out before I could even think. And woke up amputated because my leg had been severed by... something."
As much as Raju wanted to poke you awake for a better telling of the story, he knew not to do so. Not only would you be too pissed at him to tell him the full story, but you likely didn't know half of what was really going on.
But his students certainly would know.
Day 28 [Steven/ Zed/ Raju]
Prompt: "They wanted the monster they made..."
Steven
There had to be another way around this, there just had to be. Steven was currently watching you tear through people mercilessly. As if they were made of paper instead of flesh and bone. This was not like you, not in the slightest.
"[Name]!" He reached out, trying to grab your arm, to stop you if he could, "Please! This isn't like you!"
Steven's blood felt like pure ice as you turned to face him. It wasn't you looking back at him right now. He didn't know who you were in this moment.
"Steven, darling." Your voice was much crueler sounding, like when you tried crooning a villain monologue for laughs, "They want the monster they made. They asked for this and I'm happy to give them what they want."
You turned, pulling away from Steven, "Especially when I can finally ensure no one else has to suffer the way I did."
The grin on your face was sickening. A twisted contortion of ideals and morals that normally wouldn't even be possible for you.
And Steven knew it.
He latched onto your arm again, roughly tugging you back, "[Name], Amor. This isn't you." Steven made you look him in the eye, "We can figure out something else. There has to be another way to go about doing this. One where..."
You squinted at the sudden pause, "Go on, say it."
"One where you don't let them win!" Steven was desperate at this point, "Doing what they want you to do, being what they made you into. It's just letting them win. And I don't want to lose you [Name]. Not like this."
.
Zed
How could one human be this destructive? Was this even possible? Had you simply been holding back all this time? If so, why?
Had you been actively hiding this strength for a reason?
Zed couldn't take it anymore, he had to do something. Standing back and watching you sling these creatures, most of which were easily five or six times your size, around like rag dolls was getting out of hand. You were getting out of control and Zed needed to know why.
"[Name]! You have to calm down!" Zed just barely managed to grab your arm, yanking you off course a little, "Before you bury us in this building."
The chill of Zed's touch got to you quicker than his words did. As you looked down at his hand, the words mulled over in your mind. You knew he was right, it didn't take deep introspection to know Zed was right about the situation. But part of you didn't care, part of you wanted this. Deep down, you wanted to give in, to let loose on the people who wronged you.
You wanted to let your destructive tendencies run absolutely wild, just once.
"Zed," Your voice was low, not precisely ominous, though it was extremely close, "They want the monster they made. All this chaos, they brought it on themselves. And no one can change that."
There was a tense moment between the two of you, both looking the other dead in the eye. You moved first, stepping away from Zed.
"Not even you can change what I am."
.
Raju
None of this made any sense to Raju. Yes, he knew you had been captured by a blood breed when you were a child. He even knew you had been subjected to very dangerous procedures during that time. And while all of this information had been second-hand, being things you told him personally and not something he learned before he started dating you. Raju still had no idea what all that monster truly did to you, for you to be this vicious about slaughtering its underlings.
You were dead set on repaying the blood breed's cruelties ten-fold. Tearing through the lower-leveled monsters with ease. It would have been terrifying, had it not been Raju with you. He found this display of power to be very reassuring.
Because it meant you weren't a blood breed at all.
A deep, raspy breathing filled the silence as you regained your composure. Raju had been a little blind-sided by the sudden, violent outburst. All the chaos and destruction you were causing only solidified the fact that you would answer to no one. All the while, Raju just floated there, eyes clearly on you... though his face was as unreadable as ever.
"They wanted the monster they made, Raju." You started to explain, "I don't--"
"You're no monster [Name]." Raju cut you off as he floated closer to look you in the eye, "Hurt and upset perhaps, but not monstrous."
You couldn't understand this, you couldn't keep looking at him. Instead, you turned away. Though Raju wasn't having that in the slightest, he tugged your chin back to face him. Looking deep into your eyes, even though you still couldn't read him at all like this.
"We can easily show them why they never should have messed with you." He said, "And we will make them regret having laid even a single finger on you. I promise."
Day 30 [Steven/ Zed/ Raju]
Prompt: "I'm used to it"
Steven
This just rubbed Steven the wrong way. Being a first-hand witness to the discrimination you faced on a regular basis, or well, a semi-regular basis. And all because you had a tiny bit of Beyondian DNA. It was hardly noticeable after your surgery.
So what if you had a few feathers growing alongside your hair now? Steven thought it was absolutely beautiful. And the only reason anyone could see it was how you styled your hair. Was it really fair to you? Having to constantly do just the smallest things to "look human"?
Steven had half a mind to freeze the whole building and just the building. Until you tugged on his sleeve, trying not to pull him completely given the scene.
"Steven, please don't." He really didn't like the look on your face, "I'm used to this. It'll be fine."
He let out a tired sigh. Hearing that you were already used to this stung him a little. It wasn't fair, nothing about this situation was fair. All of it weighed on Steven's mind and his heart, especially with how upset you seemed.
But maybe he was just used to being surrounded by Beyondians...
"Amor," Steven cupped your cheek, "Perhaps we should find somewhere actually worth our patronage. What are you in the mood for?"
.
Zed
Zed groaned as softly as possible, he hated that you were being pulled into such low-brow insults because of him. Part of him couldn't help but feel as if there was a hint of merit to what the other humans were saying. It was possible you only dated him out of pity.
You could do so much better than him after all...
Though he still didn't want you getting hurt on his behalf. Tugging you back gently to hopefully avoid this altercation from escalating to blows. Zed would never live it down if you were injured for something this stupid.
"[Name], please." Zed urged, "Now isn't the time for this. I'm certain there's better places than here."
You half growled, before snorting at the woman blocking the entrance. Sure, Zed was right. That didn't mean you had to be okay with how people treated him. It wasn't right for them to judge on appearance...
"I still don't like how comfortable they were," You grumbled, "Calling you a 'walking fish' and all that. Completely uncalled for."
Zed let out half a chuckle, "You may be right, but it'll be okay. I'm used to this sadly. One of my coworkers won't stop with bad fish puns against me."
"Where does he live?"
"[Name], please no. Don't start anything."
"I wouldn't be starting anything." You pouted playfully, "I'd be finishing it."
"And possibly getting injured in the process." Zed moved slowly as he put an arm around your shoulders, "And I'd never forgive myself if you did."
.
Raju
Raju was about five seconds from torching several individuals for their rude comments. It was one thing to insult him, but once they started bringing you into the discussion... Raju was ready to fight. While he knew he was technically a Beyondian, calling you names was uncalled for.
"Raju, c'mon. Please?" You tugged on his cane, hoping to just pull him away like a balloon on a string, "I'm used to being called a monster smoocher. It's fine."
"It is not fine!" He protested, "One's love life shouldn't mean anything to others! You're a huma after all! They can't just attack you like that because of me!"
While you did manage to pull him away, some, you couldn't help but sigh. Raju had zero filters and no concept of romance, so it never failed to shock you when he said genuinely romantic things. But you had your own ways of returning the favor. Namely by sneaking a kiss on the side of his helm.
Though, before you could say anything about him being a sweetheart by saying that... Raju started ranting about you kissing his helm. Tapping his cane and essentially throwing a little hissy fit.
Still kinda adorable though, you couldn't lie to yourself about that.
Day 31-2 [Zapp/ Zed/ Chain]
Prompt: "You know what you have to do..."
Zapp
This was just great, fan- f&^king -tastic. Of course. OF F&^KING COURSE, he forgot to plan something. This wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last. But it would certainly be one of the worst ear-chewing sessions he'd have to sit through.
And he wasn't exactly private about how he was feeling either.
"Is something bothering you Zapp?" Klaus was naturally the first to reach out, no matter how many times Zapp attacked him.
"Yeah, no." He moped across the couch, taking up the whole thing, "[Name]'s just gonna kill me later, that's all."
Klaus was the only one to feel bad about this. Before he could ask for further details from Zapp however...
"Only because you forgot their birthday, Monkey Brain." Chain chastised, "Maybe if you could see past your own ego, you wouldn't be in this mess."
While Chain was right, Zapp wouldn't let her say anything like that. The two bickered while Klaus attempted to smooth things over, avoiding conflict as his sole motivator.
"Just die." Chain said coldly.
"Dude," Leo piped up, "You know what you have to do, right? Like it's a really easy fix since you actually showed up for work today."
"Hey! No one asked your opinion Pube Face!" Zapp snapped, "Don't make me come over there!"
.
Zed
"Okay, okay. Run that by me once more?" You wanted to help Zed confess to his crush but he wasn't giving you enough details, "This person. Do you know them pretty well already?"
"Yes. I talk to them frequently."
This made for a delicate situation. Zed didn't want to go to you for dating advice, given that it was you he had a crush on. But in his pursuit of knowledge, he had asked both Chain and K.K. before you. Which meant one of them either told you directly or you overheard them brainstorming with someone else. Regardless, you had sought Zed out, wanting to help him with it.
"But you don't know how to tell them how you feel?" You pressed, "What kinds of things do you two even talk about?"
"Ah well." Zed scratched at the side of his face, "We talk about a little of everything. Especially topical things happening in the news."
You sighed, leaning back, "You know what you have to do, don't you?"
"No, not really." Zed tried looking you in the eye, but it was so difficult, "That's why I've been seeking advice."
"Just be direct and honest with the other person. If you talk to them a bunch, then they should know you say what you mean and all that." You stretched in your chair, Zed blushing slightly as he noticed your shirt pulling up a bit, "Worst-case scenario is they turn you down. But at least you'll have told them how you feel. Maybe write it down if you can't think what to say."
Zed sat there for a second. It was indeed solid advice. And a far better idea than what K.K. had suggested earlier. But...
"Oh, and if you don't think your message will be clear enough," Zed's focus snapped back to you, "You could always ask Klaus about flowers. Some have specific meanings. Wouldn't hurt your chances to have something to start a conversation and kinda hint what you wanna say."
"What?"
"Like roses typically have meanings of love and relationship depending on color. Or something like that." You tilted your head down, "It might be tulips now that I think about it. Or was it carnations? Maybe I should go ask Klaus about this stuff..."
Zed couldn't stop the soft smile across his face. The sooner he told you, the better he'd feel, but being like this wasn't all that bad either.
.
Chain
A recent attack on a medical lab had you clutching your side. Chain tried her best to help, but she was woefully unprepared for something like this. She was a spy, not a doctor. She knew how much it would hurt for her to phase through your skin, despite it being possibly the best solution for the problem.
And you were in enough pain as is.
Instead, she hastily rifled through various cabinets and drawers, ones she knew would contain the supplies needed to stem the bleeding. Chain didn't register her own train of thought streaming out of her mouth as she searched. Consistent ramblings of what was where and what all she needed to grab swirled through the air like smoke around Chain's head.
It was far from ideal, but you could walk Chain through the process of stitching up a wound. At the very least it would be passable until you could receive professional medical attention. Despite knowing it would hurt like hell, you knew Chain's ability to phase through solid objects was precisely what you needed at the moment.
It was just a matter of convincing her...
"Chain," You grabbed onto her wrist, "You know what you have to do sweetie. It won't work unless you attempt surgery. And there isn't enough supplies here for that."
The soft, strained groan that escaped her lips was all too telling, "But I don't want to hurt you [Name]. There... there has to be another-"
"There isn't." You reassured her, "I'll be fine. Just do what you have to. I trust you."
The effort of knocking the target out left you feeling a little more bitter than normal. Though making sure everything was taken care of afterward would be a bit of a problem. You just weren't sure if it would be needed... yet.
"Let's just grab him and go." You didn't bother offering to pick up the man, "If I stand next to this gluten-free salad any longer, then I'm gonna start losing brain cells."
Klaus didn't hesitate, carefully lifting the enemy. Though Steven and K.K. were arguing about where to take them. As much as Klaus wanted to stop the fighting, it was you who had a plan.
"I know a place." You spoke up from where Leo and Zapp were arguing again, "It isn't that far either."
Chain landed on Zapp's shoulder, forcing him to fall over, "Good to know. But where specifically?"
"Couple blocks." You shrugged, "Not too far."
You had never shown anyone this apartment. It was for emergencies only. At least the cover stories were airtight. Not a single person in the nearby area could get hurt by this. And not a single one would question the number of people entering the apartment. Even if one looked like they just came from fight club.
~~~~~
Everyone looked around the simple apartment. Scented candles, soft tones, and not a single hidden compartment for weapons. No one expected this to be your apartment. Not even your lover knew about this place. And they were deeply concerned about just... why you had this and never told them at all.
Though, you didn't have the time to explain before your information target woke up. His wrists tied down to a chair, not allowing any kind of movement despite how much he tried.
"Oi!" He yelled, "Do whatever you want to me! You sprung a wild trap! My boss will find me and then this place will--!"
You couldn't take all these cliche statements. Slapping the man against the protests of Klaus and forcing him, almost forcing them all, to face what was going on.
"I rented this place on a shell corporation. My mail goes to another apartment building." You sneered down, "My neighbors think my name is Karume. My coworkers think my name is [Full Name]."
"[Name]," Klaus didn't know how to feel about this. Yes, everyone had their secrets, but a whole double life? "What of your neighbors? They could become accidental victims of this..."
No one knew what to say or think, not really. But the look on your face seemed to suggest you knew what you were doing. And it was true, here you typically acted like a meek, shy person. And in a building of tough strongmen, that meant you were perfectly safe.
Though you knew if you didn't explain something to Klaus and Steven at the very least then things could come crashing down. And so Steven and K.K. took over interrogation while Zapp dug around for some kind of booze.
Joke was on him though, you didn't even keep wine coolers here.
Once out of earshot, you turned to Klaus. He was clearly worried about you. Learning you had this place at all was quite a shock. It wasn't quite a betrayal, but it was something he didn't like to think about.
"[Name], What is this place for?" His hands were wringing themselves, "Your neighbors could be in serious trouble with all of us being here. Not to mention the tracking chip Leonardo confirmed to be in his neck."
"Easy big guy." You patted his arm, "This place is so far removed from Libra that it might as well be wrapped in a conspiracy, deep fried in a cover-up, and smothered in one of those tacky barbeque sauces that no one likes."
Klaus blinked a few times, visibly confused.
"It means that, at most, they'll find us." You sighed, "But they'll think we took pity on him and just wanted to help a poor man off his feet."
Klaus turned, that made sense on some level. He wanted to believe you, but something in the back of his mind just wouldn't rest. Though, the situation currently playing out was mostly to blame as Klaus could see the benefits of having something like this as a back up plan.
It wasn't long before Zapp caught ahold of your shoulders, "Alright Steven 2.0, I'll bite. Where do you keep the good drinks?"
"I don't keep alcohol here."
"Hanh!?" Zapp pushed off you, "What do you mean you don't keep alcohol here? What kind of hideout doesn't have booze?"
"The kind meant to keep a low profile, sparky."
Zapp rolled his eyes, "So why on Earth even have it?"
"Just in case." You sighed, "Ya know, when sh^t hits the fan."
"Bah!"
Zapp walked off as quickly as he showed up, waving you off like your place should meet his requirements. Not that anyone else was making any fuss over what was and wasn't around.
Though a loud smack from the living room caught your attention. Just barely having missed running right into Klaus on your way back into the room, you saw K.K. being physically held back by Steven and Zed, one arm raised over her head and both feet kicking wildly.
"K.K.! Relax! He's out cold." Steven gasped, "Why is this harder than the fight with the guy!"
You and Chain couldn't help but snicker at them. Though it would be far more difficult to get information when he wasn't awake. Unless Leo did a little snooping with his eyes.
Not that he could really pinpoint the information needed. Meaning the best you could do was prep a pot of coffee and hope for him to re-awaken soon. Though Steven cornered you quickly.
"[Name], I'm no stranger to keeping secrets." He leaned against the counter, "But none of us even knew you had a place like this."
"It's all legal if that's what you're asking." You folded your arms, "I wouldn't bring any of you here if it wasn't."
Steven nodded, setting his cup on the counter, "Why would you bother keeping this place like this? Other than situations like this."
"Sometimes I just need a place to exist, ya know? No expectations or anything." You sighed, "Sometimes that's here, sometimes that's my place. Just depends on me."
Steven nodded, "Yeah. I understand what you mean. Just a little worried about why."
You nodded. After having spent most of the day placating everyone, assuring them this was perfectly okay. Sadly Leo and Zed weren't convinced as easily as Klaus or Steven. But at least Chain wasn't trying to ask a million questions.
K.K. however, was not going to let that slide.
"Explain this now!" She had you trapped in a corner, "And none of that running around you normally do [Name]."
You sighed, "It's just a little backup plan for stuff like this. Nothing more."
It felt like K.K. was trying to stare into your soul. One eye against two as she kept backing you into the corner.
"I swear," You couldn't do more than raise your hands in surrender, "It's just a hideaway home. Only meant to wait in the wings for things like this."
The soft moan from K.K. as she tried getting more out of you was tense. You weren't sure why she was directing this toward you and not the target, because this kind of interrogation would probably make the guy crack in three seconds.

Things were just going so very slowly, this guy was still not talking after nearly a day of hard interrogation. From trying to play good cop, bad cop, to just everyone taking turns. By the time it finally got around to your turn, you were tired of waiting around.
Pulling your emergency supplies out of the secret hatch in the closet, you were stopped by Klaus.
"Why... why is that bag clanking?" He wasn't sure he wanted to know, "What do you have hidden in this apartment?"
"It's fine." You waved him down, "This will just speed up the process."
"Not so fast [Name]." Steven tugged the bag, just enough that you dropped it, spilling a wide range of torture devices, "Yeah, no. Not going to let any of these touch this guy."
You let out an agitated sigh. For all of three minutes, the target was horrified by the scattering of metal objects. All the movement from across the room had been short-lived due to how quickly your ideas had been shot down.
"Alright then, plan B."
Leo and Zed picked up your "tools" so you couldn't sneak one or two into your pocket. K.K. was still busy with her turn of interrogation, so she couldn't scold you too. Though Zapp had to be held back by Chain using her phasing through his liver.
Klaus was almost beside himself when you came back with a large greatsword. At least it was in a scabbard, for now. And Klaus was going to make sure it stayed that way.
"[Name], this isn't proper interrogation protocol." He cut you off again, "Would you please put that away."
"Wait, where did you even get a sword?!" Zapp blurted out, "I thought you didn't keep any of this sh^t here!?"
"I don't travel anywhere unprepared." You crossed your arms, "And c'mon Klaus. He won't crack if we don't use a little force."
Steven sighed, "No, hand it over [Name]."
Groaning loudly, you handed Steven the heavy weapon. It was still your shot at the target. There was still one trick up your sleeve, literally.
They couldn't disarm you as you tilted the chair back, pulling a straight razor and pressing it against the man's cheek. Even with Klaus and Leo in the background trying not to shout at you for having something sharp so close to someone's neck... again.
Steven just had to hold both of them back, reminding them that one wrong move could end in you accidentally killing the only source of information Libra could even get close to. Zed was very busy holding K.K. back, needing to cling to the doorframe, several using his blood threads.

No one was expecting the lights to go out. Even more worrisome when a sniper laser began tracking through the living room. Klaus had been quick to put himself between danger and everyone within arms reach, following your instructions to duck into a narrow passage. Trusting you when you said it lead to a secret bunker. Given everything they thought they knew had long since gone up in smoke over the past 24 hours, it wasn't difficult to think you still had tricks up your sleeve.
What they didn't know, what you had to explain after the fact, was how you had planned the chaos. Using the cover of dark to wreck your own apartment with a slingshot while Detective Law pointed a high-power laser pointer to mimic a sniper. You had packed everything of value while others were fruitlessly interrogating the man you'd managed to capture. Explaining you planned to throw the place away with the end of the lease agreement happening the day after. Needless to say, it left everyone shocked for a couple days, with you stashing the "second-life kit" in your actual apartment.
.
Klaus
"L-Liebling," Klaus didn't like prying, nor did he want to tell you what to do... and yet, "Are you certain all that secrecy was necessary?"
Your raised eyebrow had Klaus doubting himself, "It's just that... You do know you can tell me when something feels off. I'd hate to hear second-hand that you were hurt or targetted or-"
"Klaus, it was never an issue of trust or feeling secure." You sighed, setting the teacup down on its saucer, "I just wanted to make sure I had a fail-safe for those... extra dangerous targets."
Scratching the back of his head, Klaus stopped mid-breath as you went on, "I mean, what are we supposed to do with targets like that? Risk taking them to HQ? Bring them here? Or to Steven's place? Or anyone else's for that matter? Having a place like that apartment in my back pocket just... it just..."
Klaus reached across the small garden table, gently squeezing your hand. He could tell you were at a breaking point, that explaining yourself and your feelings was still quite a difficult undertaking. But he also knew that simply reminding you it was okay to vent fully was the right thing to do. Klaus would always be there to listen, and to remind you it was all going to be okay.
"It just," You exhaled deeply, "It makes things just a bit easier for me to deal with knowing that I am prepared for every situation. Cause frankly, sometimes just carrying a f&^king tomahawk on my hip isn't enough."
You didn't want to admit to the bright pink rising on your cheeks as Klaus chuckled at your... non-joke. But for now, the matter was dropped. For now at least.
.
Steven
Finger's idly tapping on his mouse, Steven sighed. He had been mulling over that incident for the past two weeks. And none of it made much sense.
Sure, he could understand a few secrets here or there. A weapon stash, an arcane lock system. Even your preference for older 'junk' cars was perfectly normal to Steven. But a whole separate apartment? That felt like a little too much.
Unable to handle the weight of all these questions without answers, Steven picked up his phone. You mentioned needing to look for a new backup place, and he wasn't entirely sure about waiting for a face-to-face talk.
"Hello?"
"[Name], are you busy?"
"Not particularly, just signing paperwork. Why?"
"Can you talk?" Steven's eyes lowered from the monitor to the keyboard, "About the last place I mean."
"Not right now." That uneven tone meant you were trying to make this sound normal, civil. More secrets to blank-faced strangers who would never guess that the new neighbor was really a... "Could I call you back? Maybe an hour from now? Or I could just pop over for a visit if that's easier."
"An hour?" Steven's fingers drummed the desk impatiently, "Meet me at Broskette in an hour. We can get coffee before we get to my apartment."
"Oh, so you're still at work then?"
"Yeah. But there's not much left to do. Schedule's pretty clear and all."
"Alright, yeah. I'll see you then."
The talk over coffee hadn't gone nearly as smoothly as Steven had hoped. Resulting in quite the spat between the two of you, arguing over keeping secrets. Deep down, Steven knew he was just as bad, if not worse about keeping secrets. He couldn't truly have an open communication relationship, not when his secrets would get people hurt.
But you weren't backing down. It shouldn't matter how many secrets either of you kept, you would die on that hill. You couldn't help but feel like Steven was ignoring what you were saying. That you just wanted to be ready for situations like that, how it felt like he couldn't trust you to know what's good.
Storming out of his apartment with bitter tears clinging to your lashes was the worst feeling in the world. And as much as Steven instantly regretted letting you leave, he wasn't quite fast enough to catch you before you sped off. Tonight would need something a little stronger than wine to cope with himself. And tomorrow would come with a lot of explaining...
.
Leo
This whole thing was a little too much for Leo. He knew you were prepared for basically every situation, but for whatever reason, this felt like a step too far. But Leo couldn't put his finger on why.
Why did this bother him so much?
"Leo?" You nudged his arm from across the table, "Everything okay?"
"Huh?"
You tilted your head, "You're stuck in your own head again, aren't you?"
"It's just..." He scratched the side of his face, "The whole thing with the second apartment. The second life stuff."
"What does that matter? It's just a thing to fall back on."
That rubbed Leo just slightly the wrong way. He couldn't pin down why, but hearing you be so nonchalant was just a little too much.
"I mean, it's f&^ked sure. No one should really need a backup apartment. But then you get a job like this and..." You sipped your drink to avoid coughing, "Well, with a past of not being able to trust a whole lot of people. You can see why I didn't think to tell anyone. Even you."
That made things a little better, but Leo still didn't like how you could so easily dismiss it. This isn't exactly something he could forget about any time soon. Maybe this time it won't bug him so much, he already knows that you will have a second apartment. Maybe...
.
Zapp
"So, you and that other apartment... uh..." Zapp didn't know how to start this conversation, he wasn't the kind to talk. Especially not about this but, "Any other uh... things you wanna fess up to or...?"
"I don't have any other romantic partners if that's what you're asking." You were a little preoccupied with your game to really dive into this right now, "But I did find a decent little chuckle-f^ck neighborhood. Just gotta fill out the lease tomorrow and--"
"C*CK-S#^KING A$$ HOLE! MOVE OUT MY G*D D^MNED WAY SO HELP ME!"
Zapp leaned over your shoulder. For such a chill-looking game, it was full of fuzzy animals for f^cks sake, you always seemed to cuss at it like you were dying to a boss or something. Then again, if the same little f^cker was in Zapp's way and constantly talking... he could understand it at least.
"B^tch." You muttered under your breath, "Anyways, yeah. Everything'll be settled and sorted by tomorrow."
"M'kay, not exactly what I was getting at Steven 2.0."
"Then what?"
"What do you mean 'then what?'!" Zapp frowned, "You're basically domestic Rambo... or is it Metro Rambo?"
"I think the term you're looking for is prepared."
"It most certainly is NOT the word I'm looking for you walking armory! You're a mini Chief with Steven's disposition!"
You looked at Zapp, "If I didn't have that apartment, we wouldn't have gotten the answers we needed, right?"
"Well... I mean, I guess."
"So I'm not Rambo, I'm just prepared."
"Yeah right." Zapp scoffed, "You carry at least three blades on you at all times, even in the shower!"
"I do not!"
"You so do! I've seen them! You were pulling them out of your hair!"
"Those were bobby pins you demented orangutang."
Zapp was not about to back down from this. He knew you always had weapons on your person. This was going to be a long night...
.
Zed
It felt like Zed had brought this same topic up at least once a day, but he never was able to get a straight answer. As much as he didn't want to constantly pry, he did need some form of closure over this matter. In one day he went from believing he knew his partner to thinking they were a complete stranger again. It was the kind of mental whiplash that made his head hurt.
But he really didn't feel like he had much of a choice.
"[Name], I know you probably don't want to talk about this, but..." Zed sat up a little on his side of the couch, "You never have given me a decent answer about that apartment. Why you had it in the first place and why you feel you need another."
Letting out a deep sigh, "It isn't strictly to keep secrets or anything. I just... I feel better if I have something like in my back pocket, ya know?"
"No, I really don't. That's why I'm asking you." He shifted to face you a little better, "I don't understand what would drive a person to having a second apartment, even if does help with one's job."
You stopped. Normally Zed did get things like this, without the need for you to explain in detail. It wasn't exactly the kind of thing you liked fessing up to, since it would make it seem like you just didn't trust him. And that couldn't be further from the truth, you just never knew when the right time was to bring up a literal safe house to your partners.
But you couldn't very well keep stalling, Zed did deserve an answer at least... even if it was a difficult one.
"So, I've always struggled with being able to trust other people." YOu started, "And not knowing when to bring things up until it's absolutely necessary. That said..."
Zed's jaw hung limp. He wasn't expecting you to have that kind of a past. It had him feeling a little guilty about pushing so hard for answers. Then again, if he'd gone through the same kind of situation, he would likely want to be as prepared as you were at all times.
Suddenly your "obsession" with weapons made a whole lot more sense.

Zed had been going to the same café every day for the past couple of months now. He had developed a monstrous crush on one particularly cute barista and thus had memorized their schedule. Making sure to drop by every time they would be able to stand and chat for a minute.
He tried to keep the conversation light, but they were just so incredible. It was always them going into deep theories about different works and Zed was hooked. But he was also careful, he didn't want them to wind up fired because of himself.
What Zed didn't know was how Zapp and Leo were tailing him. He didn't realize that Zapp had taken an interest in the same person he had. So walking into the café and seeing you chatting happily with Zapp hurt.
He tried rationalizing this. Of course he shouldn't feel so possessive over you, Zed hadn't told you how he felt after all. But watching you twirl your hair while talking to Zapp had him seeing red. Desperately wanting to win your affections back, blindly assuming he had them in the first place, Zed approached the counter.
"Hello! Welcome to The Book and Bean." You smiled at Zed, "Would you like your usual Zed?"
"Yes please [Name]." Zed was being equally polite, not testing the water so much as just trying to rush to where he could talk to you, "How's the day been so far?"
"Its been nice." You turned to do your job, "Can't really complain."
"Well of course not." Zapp piped up, "A sexy thing like you shouldn't have much to complain about ever."
Zed held his tongue, choosing to ignore how your cheeks lit up at such a shallow compliment. And being given a first-hand horror of seeing Zapp actually being smooth.
"I was wondering [Name]." Zed tilted his head, "How far have you gotten with your own book?"
"Oh, that." You flushed, tucking your hair behind your ear, "I haven't gotten very far sadly. I'm having a little trouble with one scene. Like I can see it play out, but I can't begin to get the words on paper."
"I see, perhaps I could help you with it?" Zed was determined to keep the conversation out of Zapp's reach, "Maybe when you get off? I'd be honored to help, I assure you."
Zed's heart fluttered at the way you were blushing, at him no less. Until Zapp just had to ruin it. Cutting you off before you could give Zed an answer.
"Damn! You really are all that and a bag of chips huh good-looking?" Zapp smirked, he was enjoying pissing Zed off. Helped that he found you cute, "I mean, it's obvious you're a sight for sore eyes. But writing a book too?"
"I, uh..." You didn't normally talk about your book, only Zed really, "Well, yes. This would be the third time I've tried. The last two didn't do all that well."
"Well that's a shame, cutie." Zapp started.
"Did you get them published?" Zed cut the silver-haired man off, "What were their titles?"
You weren't used to this much attention. And the two men were starting to argue with one another. All you could do was step away and tend to the customer that just entered the building.
Zed Head Cannons

He discovered a fondness for psychological horror movies, tenser than gore or jumpscares
His love of books would cover an entire apartment wall to wall with a variety of titles from educational to novels
He is the third best linguist (of the main cast at least, fourth counting Lucky), due to how much he reads
He can't stop himself from analyzing characters in movies, especially the way does in novels
He is full of thoughts, and if he's comfortable in your company then you'll hear most if not all of this thoughts
If he's drunk then he has no filter and he will roast anything you put in front of him (most everything if he likes what you show him then it'll be rambling about how much he likes it)
^ If its a picture of you, he'll forget you're standing right there and start gushing about you... until he looks back up at you instead of the picture (then he's a blushing stammering mess)
He doesn't like pets, or animals in general (nothing to do with cleanliness, a little to do with them possibly messing with his stuff, but mostly due to him not wanting to be licked, scratched, or pecked at... or having to share your attention with a small creature but he doesn't ever admit to it)
^ Yes that does technically make him the jealous type, but only with animals. He doesn't care if his partner prefers to spend time with others because he trusts them (not saying he trusts who they hang out with but...)
Children of Libra AU: He worries about taking the kids out in the rain cause while he doesn't get sick from the rain, you do (likely, not accounting for S/I variants) and he doesn't want to risk the kids getting sick
Children of Libra AU: He was never worried about being a good father, but he did worry about being able to provide for his kids given how hard it was to find a job before
Children of Libra AU: He tries teaching his kids early as possible, but overdoes it and turns all the babies fuss cause they wanna play Papa! Let they play!!
Children of Libra AU: He always reads his kids' assignments, giving his own critiques, especially their writing and poetry work
Kekkai Sensen characters as Jello Apocalypse's So This Is Basically Legend of Zelda video quotes (cause my brain is stuck on meme mode...)
Klaus: Sometimes he's young, sometimes he's hot, sometimes he's toon, sometimes he's not. But he's always HYEH!
Steven: I mean, you don't need that last Heart Piece Container. You'll just have nineteen of them up there on your screen, daunting you.
Leo: HYEH missed orientation and has to prove himself every game to the finicky goddesses.
Sonic: Where... Where'd you get that heart Picori? Where'd you get that?
Zapp: Uh... I'm feeling like a... pshshshbt... a pizza. A Hero's pizza, but its gonna need the sacred toppings.
Zed: Ever wanna kiss a fish on its fishy fish lips? Look at all these attractive fish! You can kiss this fish, or this fish, or this fish! The fish-abilities are end-fish.
Chain: Zelda chills out in a dungeon somewhere and makes HYEH pick up her dry cleaning.
Dog: Why did I get this thing again?
Gilbert: Good luck hitting me with that 19 year old control scheme! Ugh, they got the 3DS remake... doesn't count.
K.K.: Zelda doesn't have a personality, except in Windwaker where she's a cool pirate. Oops, boring Princess mode activate...
Daniel: Sometimes he shows up at the end of the game and uses the darkest magic of all... plagerism.
Raju: Ganondorf is a wizard, who doesn't know what wizards are...
Femt: Ganondorf wants to take over Hyrule for... reasons...
Aligula: In Breath of the Wild you can unlock her personality, yep... that's. That's what I'm focused on it these cutscenes...
