What Fear would the dust bowl fall under?

I started thinking about it and now I can't stop...

Read more for a brief explanation on what the dust bowl is! (for those who aren't very familiar)

The dust bowl was a time in the 1920-30s where a few of the southern US states blew away (especially Oklahoma). Over farming weakened the topsoil which was then picked up by the wind and blown around in huge storms that would settle like snow drifts. A lot of people and animals died because of dust inhalation and thousands of people lost their homes. It was also a major factor in contributing to the collapse of the US economy at the time. It's actually pretty cool, you should look it up.

I read a lot and enjoy doing it.

I listen to music CONSTANTLY and like a lot of different genres.

Whenever I like something (characters, fandoms, bugs, ect.) I become fixated on it for a few weeks and spend ridiculous amounts of time on Wikipedia pages pertaining to it.

I managed to befriend the grumpiest and most evil cat in existence (Mo).

I like playing video games even though I'm not very good at it.

Just found your blog and thought it was really neat! As a casual fellow armored fish enjoyer (I think arapaima are neat) I wanted to know if you have an opinion on River Monsters (TV show)? I know there's a sturgeon episode :)

(grabbing your face) do you remember simon fairchild's statement about how he became an avatar. how he fell and the sky embraced him. i think about it all the time. how it would feel to be embraced by the vast. the entity that is about how you are insignificant before the endless void, holding you. the fact that being an avatar of the vast means loving a contradiction: you are insignificant and the entity of the vastness of everything else holds you in its embrace and takes away your mortality.

i wonder if when simon told that one guy enjoy sky blue if the reason he laughed while saying it was because he was sharing his own joy. if in his own way he wasn't being generous, sharing the experience that changed him forever. i wonder if as much as he spreads terror, maybe what he really wanted was to share that experience, and that's why he picked someone who loves sky-diving, someone who was also in love with the sky.

i wonder if that guy who was eaten by the sky isn't out there now, saying the sky held him gently in the huge jaws of endless blue, and he cried with joy as he understood. if what for his mother was a horrible experience that killed her son, for him wasn't the liberation from his mortal life and worries before the realization that we are nothing.

i wonder if simon was afraid, too, before he was in love or while he was in love with it, if he can even distinguish his love for the vast from his fear from it or it's just another facet of his adoration, something he can offer to it, if when he said he loved the sky he meant it like that, like we often love a god, with fear as strong as our adoration.

This came to me in a dream

I can't stop staring at the sky.

I have so many pictures in my phone of the clouds. Stargazing from the roof has become a frequent hobby. I'll just stop randomly and gaze at the sky sometimes. It's just so beautiful and blue and vast.

I found myself standing in a field the other day in the middle of a thunderstorm. Just looking at the sky and the clouds and the lightning. I don't even remember making the conscious decision to go outside.

The vast as sky, ocean or space are all amazing concepts but I need the vast as field. Steppe. Just a bigass flat land with no high plants. Grass or grain for kilometers to no end no matter where you look

Everytime ao3 is down I'm reminded of two things:

One is that humans have and always will love telling stories, and they will continue to do so even if there is no benefit to telling these stories, but simply because we love creating things

The other is that a concerning amount of people use fanfiction as a form of escapism and we should probably look into that

The Fairchilds are ridiculously wealthy, so Vast avatars are pretty much set and don't need jobs. Just chuckin people into the sky/ocean/space.

fuck zodiac signs literally the best way to get to know a person is to ask which tma entity they'd be an avatar for. like, you're a vast guy? probably not for me, but please tell me all about it, you sky loving maniac. it's so damn interesting.

I've said this before but it remains true. sometimes you'll find different entity avatars having stuff in common (the flesh has got a lot of trans folks for example) but also a lot of people's motivations are super unique.

someday I'll do a super passionate long post specifically about why I fucking love the corruption. someday when I did not take my meds late, and am feeling a tad bit more stable.

but anyways. I love this fandom. it's so great. I love that we found boxes that we like and have stolen them away to use as our own little labeling system.

Cats are literally the best. I don't get why people don't understand that. If you have a cat, this is your sign to go give them pets.

"Your cat doesn't love you the way you love him." Okay, so? Is that supposed to change anything? Because I don't recall love needing to be the same to be impactful.

My cat may not be able to understand exactly what I mean when I ask him if he missed me when I get home, but he will stand by my feet, being real brave about my mighty boots, meowing up a storm. When I pick him up after taking off my coat he will usually be purring, often sniffing me or nuzzling into my hair.

I might not always love it when he bats his paw at me out of nowhere, but I knew there had to be a reason. After looking up his behavior I realized it was because he wanted to play, and play with me specifically. Afterwards we often cuddle.

We were at home during a house fire. When I found out I instantly grabbed him. I told him as I grabbed his scruff for the first and only time that I wasn't leaving without him. Since then I always make sure to give him his favorite scritches and softly talk to him after loud noises. Meanwhile he has gotten good at telling when I'm having an episode with my PTSD.

We don't love the same, but we don't need to. He loves me the way I need him to, and I can only hope I do the same. Neither of us are perfect, despite us both claiming he is. He treats me like his cat family and I treat him like he's my toddler son. It work for us.
