The Extinction - Tumblr Posts
Explain Ur answer I WANNA KNOW UR THEORYS!! He's always been mostly spiral to me tbh
What Fear would the dust bowl fall under?
I started thinking about it and now I can't stop...
Read more for a brief explanation on what the dust bowl is! (for those who aren't very familiar)
The dust bowl was a time in the 1920-30s where a few of the southern US states blew away (especially Oklahoma). Over farming weakened the topsoil which was then picked up by the wind and blown around in huge storms that would settle like snow drifts. A lot of people and animals died because of dust inhalation and thousands of people lost their homes. It was also a major factor in contributing to the collapse of the US economy at the time. It's actually pretty cool, you should look it up.
Like look at this stuff. That's all dirt.

Is getting in a car accident the extinction core
have not watched legend of Korra and in deciding whether and when i want to, i have compiled a list of pros and cons of watching it:
pros:
Korra <33
more official Avatar universe content
expansion on lore and worldbuilding mechanics
Varrick and Zhu Li
A cast of new and silly characters to get attached to
The revival of the Air Nomads
The older Gaang and their children
DILF ZUKO
cons:
the concept of the Industrial Revolution and sudden change on a global scale is deeply frightening to me. watching humanity evolve from fighting with clubs and swords to driving cars and listening to the radio within the span of a lifetime gives me chills down the spine, especially when part of the first series’ appeal was the fantasy setting of the past, a time when things were simpler and the ignorance of the world made things appear more magical. but suddenly the old ways of the world being overturned as machines replace magic and machines replace people and individual culture is diluted as borders are broken down and larger societal structures are established and communication improves until everyone is irrevocably connected for better or worse and suddenly this large and fascinating world is small and understood and plain and we can never go back because we’ve opened a box that cannot be closed because ignorance is bliss but wilful ignorance is shameful? the jarring experience of watching characters move further away from the world they knew into a world that only looks more and more familiar to the viewer. the knowledge of where this leads, and the use of fantasy as escapism being invaded by the cold truth of reality. Korra being a natural fighter in a world that needs a diplomat, only one cycle too late for the world that needed a fighter. born too late for her time. every single moment we make decisions that cannot be undone, that will leave a mark on our world and on time forever and ever. it happens whether i start watching it or not, but it doesn’t happen until i begin watching. I’d say that I might be happier living in such a time myself, but the truth is that modernity and convenience has poisoned me and I wouldn’t last a day. The other truth is that we hold onto the good memories of the past and find it easier to discard the others, and as such everything will be tinted in rose coloured glasses forever and the past will always be painted with the pretty certainty that it all ends well, which is more than what we can say for the future, or even the present. Do we really miss the 2000s, the 1980s, any decade as you would have it, or do we miss being small enough to be carried by our parents into our bedroom when we pretended to be asleep, comforted by their embrace and with the knowledge that they were definitive rocks of strength in our lives, before we grew old enough to realise their own fears, weaknesses, and humanity? Was it the way old classrooms were decorated, was it the trends and music of the time that made the past better or was it that we only heard terrible news from the radio or the television and had the privilege to simply turn it off? Was it the bliss of the time or, again, the bliss of ignorance? What are we losing right now that we aren’t even aware of? What won’t we miss until it’s gone? What happened to Suki? What happened to the world?
All in all, I’m currently undecided, although from the various clips and edits I have seen scrolling TikToks, both Korra and older Zuko are making strong cases.
(Don’t take this too seriously lol)

absolutely fucking love how Poseidon is Buried, especially considering his earthquakes <3 Hestia as lonely is a really interesting idea :D
The Magnus Archives Entities as Greek Gods
The Vast - Zeus
The all powerful, infinite cosmic force that is both the king of the gods and the fear of insignificance. The fear of falling, and of openness. Pray that when lightning strikes, you will not taste ozone on your tongue.
The Buried - Poseidon
The ocean could very well be a part of the Vast, but they are fundamentally opposed. The same sides of a coin, one side pewter the other side copper. Two kings that rule next to each other yet are complete opposites. Pray that his brutal storms do not swallow you whole, crushing you under the weight of his world.
The End - Hades
He is the one inevitability of the world. He waits, passive, for victims. The other gods squabble and bicker and play their games while he looks on from the Underworld and knows that he is the ultimate winner. It is pointless to hope that he will not claim you eventually. Pray that you will be contented when he does.
The Web - Athena
The goddess of strategy, of weaving and trickery and cunning. She once cursed a girl to become a spider for her insolence. Pray that she does not lay her marionette strings over you, for then you will never know free will again.
The Slaughter - Ares
The god of war, and the gleam of bloodshed in your eyes and the eyes of the person on the other end of the battlefield. Pray that the blood streaking your hands and face is not your own.
The Corruption - Aphrodite
She is love, and the unbecoming of it all. The deadly force that eats away at your soul and changes you into someone you don't recognize anymore. She whispers that she is the most good and right form of the world, but her kiss is made of rot. Pray that her love will not break you apart piece by piece.
The Eye - Apollo
The god of the sun, who sees all the occurs in the daylight. Prophecy, truth, and the goings on of the world are the way he idles his time away. Pray that you are not intriguing enough to catch his vicious interest.
The Lonely - Hestia
She is the goddess of the hearth, of warmth and of family. Yet it was she who was foisted out of Olympus to make way for Dionysus. She tends to a hearth with no visitors to warm themselves by it. Pray that she does not beckon you to join her by the empty fire.
The Stranger - Dionysus
His parties are the raucous screams in the night, and people who walk in will never walk out the same person. There will always be something a little bit off about them. Pray that when the wine touches your lips you will still recognize yourself the next morning.
The Desolation - Hephaestus
Ugly, marred and disfigured. His wife refuses to look at him. He burns with a rage that he cannot distinguish as self hatred or as loathing for the world he lives in. He toys with the fire in his forge and the burns are the only thing that bring him joy anymore. Pray that he does not look at you with that fiery hatred in his eyes.
The Hunt - Artemis
She hunts in the dead of night, armed by the protection of the moon. Occasionally she enlists help. But always, she will dedicate herself to the next hunt. Pray you are not next.
The Flesh - Prometheus
He built humans out of clay. He built them with imperfections they would see in the mirror and insecurities that feel like a gaping pit in their chest. The god of innovation is also a god who wants their passions to hurt. Pray that when he creates you, your imperfections do not swallow you whole.
The Spiral - Janus
Doors and transitions and new beginnings but also endings all rolled into one. Everything and anything but also nothing and no one. He is a two faced god of deception and lies, and you can never trust what either face tells you. Pray for truth, but there is no point.
The Dark - Nyx
She's always there. Waiting for Apollo to leave. You're not safe from her. No matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise, the most animal part of your brain will always fear her. Pray that she smiles at you without teeth as she watches while you sleep.
The Extinction - Pan
He is the god of nature, and there is no length he will not go to in order to protect it. Mankind is but a blemish on the world. The wild, untamable forces of nature will conquer it eventually. Pray that you will be overlooked when it floods the cities and burns the crops.
I want to connect each Fear with a type of music...
Slaughter would be war marches, like the Piper's.
Maybe Corruption is the 'song' of the worms? Although that's not really a music type... Maybe the glut of love songs?
I feel like Baroque music belongs to the Vast. Maybe that's because I'm partial towards both baroque and Vast, but it can sound so... big
The Web would definitely be company jingles, with how they are used to manipulate peoples' decisions and how you might hum along without meaning to.
Stranger would be easily given circus music.
The End would be funeral hymns, that's pretty simple.
Maybe the Extinction could be those new protest songs about climate change and the state of the world, specifically the ones which point to the problem but never have a call to action. It ends up just raising awareness without hope to change anything.
Any thoughts on Flesh, Hunt, Dark, Eye, Spiral, Buried, Desolation or Lonely?
OKAY NO IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
everyone is hearing TMAGP 8 wrong is it Lonely is it Flesh is it Vast NO
It's tHE EXTINCTION
THE EXTINCTION HAS MANIFESTED IN THIS UNIVERSE
Ok but, brainstorming here, danny as an avatar of the end but also the spiral and/or the extinction ? Like the end yeah sure obviously, but the spiral in that he looks vaguely wrong in BOTH forms. He looks like walking corpse as a human, pale and cold and somewhat decaying. As a ghost he's got too much blush to his cheeks, you can feel his bones and see him bleed and he doesn't look quite as transparent/translucent as the others do, he's too human. The extinction idk if I'd include or not but idk something about being one of the only of your specific species kinda hits in that area I think.
The only other characters I have a clear fear tie to would be his parents, while yes you could argue their also the end I think they fit so much better with primarily the hunt, for again probably obvious reasons. The end could tie into that, IF they have to come to the realization that they are tied in with what they've seen as their prey all along, which could be fun to handle. Oh, like parent like child as well, you could say their extinction purely bc they gave the ghosts access to the living and created danny which creates dan who kinda ends humanity 😁 just brainstorming don't mind me.

Xoti (It/Its)
Avatar of the Extinction
Born of no parent and touched by things beyond memory, Xoti is unlike anything else. The other Protectors fear it, as much as their limited minds can, and Uumuu shuns it for reasons even it cannot determine. The few travelers that have met Xoti feel a sense of unease they can’t explain, especially as it seems to be more or less harmless, if a bit odd.
Do you guys think that the statements would taste different for whatever fear it is. I feel like they would, so I made a list of what I think they would taste like.
Spiral: sour rainbow belts
End: green grapes
Eye: mint
Lonely: tomato soup
Vast: cotton candy
Corruption: apple that’s slightly gone bad
Flesh: beef
Hunt: chicken
Slaughter: that one red sour jelly thingy that you put on sour candies frkm like juicy drops
Desolation: spicy chicken
Dark: dark chocolate
Burried: potatoes
Extinction: green apple
Web: purple grapes
Stranger: bubble gum
so imagine being jon after the coma and reading a statement and it’s like BAM!! BUBBLE GUM. !
Me and my friend made a horrid creation called a fear sandwich, each ingredient is based of a tma fear.
1. The end: the bread, specifically the butt end of the bread that had been slightly burnt by the manufacturer.
2. The fleash: some kind of mystery meat. A horrid combination of a bunch of different meats.
3. The slaughter: a nother meat, but it has metal shavings in it.
4. The hunt: a mixed greens but it's poison ivy and grass. (With a bit of blood on it)
5. The desolation: a REALLY hot sauce, like inhumanely spicy.
6. The buried: an entire truffle. Dirt and all.
7. The dark: just squid ink. Way more than is necessary.
8. The lonely: a single very sweet pickle that does not go well with the rest of the sandwich.
9. The vast: a thousand island dressing that is actually just salt water. It's also really cold.
10. The corruption: very moldy cheese, it's just all mold, with maggots in the senter, as a suprise.
11. The eye: one of those toothpicks that goes through the sandwich holding it together. It also has a little olive with the capsicum in the middle of it on top. (The olive is uncomfortably moist)
12. The spiral: a very strangely cut onion that doesn't even really taste like onion, but you can't tell exactly what it tastes like, so you just sit there in mild confusion and terror of what you just ate.
13. The stranger: a sausage that you think is normal meat but is actually a vegan sausage.
14. The extinction: a very rare very endangered animal filled with micro plastics.
15. The web: what looks to be sesame seeds on the bread, but are actually very small spider eggs. (It's a delicacy in some places, it would be rude not to have it)
A million notes and I will attempt to make it. (Please don't I don't want to make this. I don't even know where to get half of these ingredients)

I made a graph of my alignments based on a WHOLE bunch of quizzes I took, each “one” is a different quiz. This isn’t the most accurate as I tend to view myself as aligned to the Eye, the Spiral, and then Vast in third, but it was fun to take overall.
Jonah Magnus and the extinction
Not sorry about typos, no bata we die by brutal pipe murder.
So like Jonah Magnus is end ajacent.
Martin has elements of the eye and the lonely and could have been an avatar of either.
Jonah has a similar relationship with the eye and the end. He fears the end. He goes to extreme measures to avoid his own death, but at the same time, he brings about the end of everything, not only by causing the eyepocalypse which in itself is the end of the world as it was previously understood by most people.
But we know that if it had not been stopped eventually in order to feed the end people would be funneled through the fears towards the end which I would consider the birth of the extinction.
People often become avatars of things that they both fear and are fascinated by. Jon is so paranoid about being spied on in season 2, but he can't help wanting to know how things work and what is causing things. Jane Prentice was scared of what loved her, but she could not help being fascinated and drawn to it. This is why the hunt frequently goes after itself as evidenced by Trevor and the vampires.
Jonah is end adjacent but of the eye. He watches everything so that he can be the last man standing, he brings the extinction so if he must face the end he can be the last to do so and watch everyone else do it first. It's not just desolation or slaughter-type unthinking cruelty, he is plotting and he is not hurting everyone to try in some way to beat out the end, to know enough to consume everything there is to experience it all before he goes.
We hear of the fears described as body parts of the same being by and as a color wheel. The flesh may be closer in in shade to the to the hunt than it is to the vast. The extinction in many ways a new tendon connecting the end to the eye.
The extinction is not just a human fear. It is what the cosmic eldritch beast that is fear, fears. A time where there is nobody to watch it but itself, nothing to feed on but itself. A great big ouroboros of fear.
If left unstopped this is what Jonah could have birthed, a beast watched by nothing, watching nothing, alone after the end.
