"Hellsing OC" Setheroth C. Noctus
Hello everyone! I thought it would be appropriate form my first proper art post on my multi-fandom account to be my favorite character I have ever made. Setheroth is really special to me. He was one of my first ocs and he is not technically A Hellsing OC anymore because he belongs to his own novel series but I wanted to make a Hellsing reference for him because I am rewriting his old Hellsing story for fun / practice with writing my actual novels! I will be uploading it onto AO3 soon! (I'm really nervous lol- but I need constructive criticism to get better!)
Also full disclosure 99.9% of this ref is done by me but I traced over a image of a pistol to draw Setheroth's weapon cause I didn't feel like drawing a gun from scratch so my bad but everything else is all my stuff!
Anyhow! Some more random info about Setheroth below the cut!
Setheroth is around the same age (a few years younger than) Alucard. (technically my version of Dracula cause again he's no longer A Hellsing OC but you get what I mean-) Setheroth has a vast history with Alucard that gets very convoluted.
As you might pick up on from parts of Setheroth's design, there's a lot he doesn't let onto. Setheroth struggles a lot with his past and his identity. He was a spy in occupied territory and was really high up in enemy ranks. He had men directly under his command he was responsible for. He let these men go to their deaths some willingly some not. To this day he grapples with the fact he was forced to let people who trusted him die regardless if they were his enemies or not. It weighs heavy on him and that's reflected in his weapons and his design.
Setheroth forms really strong bonds with soldiers.
Setheroth has several pretty debilitating mental conditions: Schizophrenia, Paranoid Personality Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD], Specific Phobias, and Bipolar I [hypomanic episodes + mood swings]. He also has tobacco and alcohol abuse issues and had a brief run in with drug use during the war but cleaned up after 1943.
Setheroth was gifted his trench lighter by the men under his command for his birthday in 1941. Beforehand he was using matches to light his cigarettes and cigars and put one match out near a ammunition dump where black powder had been spilled on the ground and scared the hell out of his men so they thought it all in their best interests to get him a better lighter. The made him the trench lighter from scraps. (This lighter is a copy of a trench lighter admin actually owns-)
The story behind Setheroth's 3 piercings are wild- he did them himself and he's had them since 1942-3.
Setheroth is a hybrid between something in my world lore called a daemon (a undead being that uses powers considered inherently "dark" but they don't use them for malicious intent) and a vampire. A incident occurred in 1942 that lead Alucard to have to try and pull him back from the brink of death. Setheroth drank his blood and it altered his genetics causing a mutation that saved his life that would not have worked otherwise if he had been human.
Setheroth is ride or die close friends with Pip and the Wild Geese, they are about the only people he did not make enemies out of in the Hellsing organization. He's fiercely protective of them and considers Pip his best friend not just a colleague. (Which makes it all the more gut wrenching and traumatic for him when well- we know what happens it doesn't end well.)
Setheroth despises Seras for a very long time and does not ever really warm up to her until after the battle for London. (He's a ass towards her and she really does not deserve it sorry Seras you sweet girl-)
Integra hates his guts and really only keeps him around because it would be a political nightmare to get rid of him and could cause a breakdown in friendly relations between Hellsing and the military.
Setheroth sometimes stays in his old house outside of the Hellsing grounds as a benefit from a deal he strong armed Integra into agreeing to.
That's all for now! I hope you find him interesting! Setheroth is honestly my favorite character I have, and I love his real story so much. It's heavily rooted in history and has a very similar vibe to Hellsing but more history centered.
