Johnny Tuturro / RioHead Cannon
Johnny Tuturro / RioHead Cannon

Johnny Tuturro / Rio Head Cannon

I have this head cannon that my friend and I talked about and I can’t stop thinking about it and the more I watch of Graceland, the more details I get for my head cannon and I just think it’s a good one so I’m going to share it with you guys.

-

My head cannon is that Johnny Tuturro is who Rio was before he became Rio. Maybe Johnny’s cover got blown and he had to leave Graceland so he was given Rio as a new cover but that keeps him as a good guy. I think, personally, that Johnny got tired of his life as an FBI agent.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think that Johnny love’s being an agent, loves putting bad guys away but I think he grows tired of it. More so, he grows tired of always having to hide who he is, having to have fake relationships where he can’t fully commit because he can’t let anyone know that he’s undercover. He leads a somewhat fake life because he can never truly be who he wants to be or let anyone know the real him.

And it gets tiring. He gets tired of hiding himself. He gets tired of being talked down to by his friends. He gets tired of being undercover all the time and not moving up.

So he gets out. He decides that he’s done with the life of being the “good guy”. I lean more towards saying that he fakes his death, goes out in a blaze of gory so that his mom has something to be proud of and know that he made something of his life.

He fakes his death and then lays low for a few years. He has some cash and enough skills so that he can survive without making a splash. He makes his way up to Detroit where he’s able to find his niche and he falls into a crowd of counterfeiters. Thanks to all of the things that he learned in the FBI he’s able to build a kingdom where he’s the king. He doesn’t have to hide who he is, doesn’t really give a shit about much and just lives his life.

He becomes the king and nobody fucks with him.

-

What do you all think? Maybe I’ll make this idea into a fic, or maybe just write shorts about it. If you have anything to add or wanna discuss this my inbox is open and I love getting to hear more ideas on things!

I am going to give my opinion (therefore you don’t need to agree with) about the scene which all talk about and what Penelope did to Marina.

First, as someone who writes and wants to learn always about script and character development, it has to be said that many fans want PERFECT characters, those without flaws or mistakes. Many put some characters on pedestals and worship them (the same as instant celebrities, actors and so on).

Secondly, Bridgerton is set in a era which none of sex topics is told to women. Yes, Daphne is wrong and it should have been addressed as rape or what is consent since the books are constantly talking about it (and I very much enjoy this). However, it still had to be on screen to spark debate and we discuss it, it has a purpose and it was wrong from both parts (daphne’s not validating Simon’s ‘no’, and Simon not talking  WHY he did not want kids.).

Thirdly, Penelope’s actions are inexcusable. Although I adore her, she did what she did on envy, to say the least. But she is a 17-year-old girl, blindly in love for someone she is sure would not love her. And she feels sorry (and will grow up and understand her actions). Let’s just hope that, when her season and Colin’s come to action, it will be addressed.

Last, but no least, it is important to bring such subjects on screen. Sometimes, living in our bubbles, we forget that not many people talk about consent, sex, or even unrequited love with family or friends. Some people don’t get information at all and, through TV shows and Movies - and going into fandom to talk about it - are instantly opened to these topics and why exist toxic relantionships shown, for example (and how it starts).

All of this has to have it moment on screen to spark a debate, to spark how to initiate a conversation between daughter and mother about sex, for example. It doesn’t always have to be right, it has to be intriguing. Otherwise, we are going forever to live in bubble societies and their own minds.

Again, you don’t have to agree with me, but you should understand plot points and how, perhaps, will be driven to another, and the importance of ugly scenes and their purposes. I am too disgusted by some actions, but I see why it happens in the books and on the show. And you still can enjoy something and dislike parts of it, it is life. Nothing will be 0 or 100 percent, the good things are in the middle.
