I Think One Of The Most Annoying Things Is How Conrad Kept Telling Everybody To Grow Up But The Thing

I think one of the most annoying things is how Conrad kept telling everybody to grow up but the thing is they were but he wasn’t. Like I get it Conrad you have anxiety and you’re mom was dying but Jere was also going through it and he was literally there watching Susannah die. And there is this whole argument how Belly ruined Jeremiah and Conrad’s brotherhood but that wasn’t just Belly, both boys did it to themselves. Like they let Belly come between them, Conrad lied to Belly saying Jere was over her when in episode seven eight it is very much confirmed that Jere never got over her. And the communication was never there. Like I get the whole idea of how Belly and Conrad are just cute but like that doesn’t mean they are a healthy couple. They literally never communicated. Like who knows if Conrad was even trying to actually break up with Belly at prom but they don’t communicate so it all just fell to shit. Meanwhile Jeremiah and Belly talk things through. Like the car ride to cousins when they got the flat tire. Great example of them talking out their feelings and problems. And Conrad as the older brother overlooked Jeremiah as well, Jere always put on a smile but Conrad never noticed how hurt and how much pain Jere was really in. But Jere always tried to put Conrad’s feelings first. And the way Conrad told Belly on the beach that Jeremiah wouldn’t care that they got together because Jeremiah doesn’t take anything seriously like that’s bs. And I can get people liking Conrad as a character (sometimes, other times he’s a complete dick) but I will never understand how anybody could support Conrad and Belly as a couple. And it’s fine if you don’t like Belly and Jeremiah (which would be insane) as a couple but like how do you say Jeremiah is toxic but not Conrad. And people are making this big deal about how Conrad remembered her favorite candy and Jeremiah forgot, but you know what Jeremiah didn’t forget, everything else, he remembered Belly’s guidance counselor suggesting Finch as a school she could go to, he puts Belly first. Multiple times Jeremiah has been willing to or has given up his own happiness for others, like telling Conrad that if Belly chooses him he wouldn’t come in the way because he just wants Belly to be happy and his brother as well, and when Belly goes to tell Jeremiah who she picked Jere immediately thinks she chose Conrad so he tells her they can still be friends.

And I know I’m just going on a rant and this doesn’t completely go with what I was saying but anybody who thought the car ride back from Brown with Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad was just cute and funny and that Conrad was just being playful, are very much blind to the toxicity and blatantly disrespectfulness of the situation.

I will never understand how people still think Conrad is BETTER for Belly than Jeremiah. Conrad was Daisy Buchanan and Belly was Gatsby. Which is funny because of all the Gatsby references this season. Jeremiah always loved Belly. Everybody is saying no Jere only started liking Belly the “summer she turned pretty” but did you see the flashbacks, Jeremiah has always been in love with Belly but always put her before him even if it meant not being with her. Conrad played with Belly’s heart all of season 1. Them almost kissing and then Conrad being an ass about it. When Jeremiah and Belly kissed Jere checked with Belly the next day to make sure they were still okay. Both boys Jeremiah and Conrad thought the Debutant Ball was stupid only difference is that when Belly asked Jere he agreed even though nobody thought even his own mother that he would ever go to one. And everybody is saying how Jere reacted to finding out Belly and Conrad kissed was over the top and dramatic but when Conrad found out Belly and Jere had kissed before hand he was like okay… flash forward to season 2 episode 8 and Conrad’s reaction to seeing Belly and Jeremiah kissing. Yes Jere had a reaction to finding out Belly and Conrad kissed because Belly and him had been “together” even if they weren’t dating. And Conrad’s reaction was so much worse this season when him and Belly were no longer together. Also Conrad essentially slut shaming his brother, not okay. And when Jeremiah wanted to keep his distance from Belly when they went to find Conrad and he wanted to stay mad he couldn’t. But Conrad’s reaction to seeing Belly at the summer house : “What’s she doing here” like wtf do you think you are. Conrad doesn’t communicate with Belly, he thinks he knows her so well but in reality he really doesn’t. While Jeremiah is always there for Belly and communicates with her. Also Conrad telling both Belly and Jeremiah to “grow up” when in reality he needs to grow up. Even Belly told Jeremiah that they had grown up and things were different. And the whole funeral thing when Conrad tells Belly he knew it was a mistake starting something with her and that entire thing like why was everybody only mad at Belly, Conrad was also very much in the wrong here. Belly wasn’t trying to make that day about her. Susannah was literally Belly’s second mom. Susannah’s death was hard for all of them. And I’m not denying that Belly and Conrad had some cute moments but they were so toxic for each other and manipulative. The both of them. And Jere was also a bit “toxic” don’t get me wrong but if you compare how the two of them treat Belly it’s clear who treats her better. And in episode one of season two when Belly calls Jeremiah, she calls him first, Jere was like oh did Conrad not answer but Belly called him not Conrad. Belly and Jeremiah were always best friends and that’s the best way to turn into something more. So excuse me for being TEAM JEREMIAH all the way, since episode one.

How can you believe Jere always put Conrad’s feelings first? He interrupted their kiss, he tried to set him up into going to a concert to get him away from belly. He went after belly the next day having watched them almost kiss and seeing how happy it made Conrad. He’s constantly telling belly that Conrad is awful and will break her heart. He shouted at her multiple times over her and Conrad and insulted Conrad to his face saying he doesn’t wanna know him. Meanwhile Conrad only ever talks positively of Jere towards Belly. And asked Jere for his permission to go back to Belly. Which Jere didn’t do when he kissed her on Conrad’s car in his sweatshirt at his school. Jere is ALWAYS being selfish. Just wondering how people don’t see it?

Okay so I see where you are coming from but…

I never said Jeremiah ALWAYS puts Conrad’s needs before his. And for the most part Jere does put others first. Jeremiah had been hinting to Belly how he was feeling about her. And yes I agree it wasn’t the smartest or nicest thing to set off a firework next to Belly and Conrad but sometimes impulses win over and I admit it wasn’t his finest moment. And Jeremiah got angry towards Belly when she told him that her and Conrad had kissed after Belly and Jeremiah had been “together” for a little while. I’d be pissed too if my significant other (of any sort) went and kissed one of my siblings. And everybody always knew that Belly had a crush on Conrad but Jeremiah really thought he had a chance with Belly then because they were closer so hearing that she just went to Conrad the second it was possible must’ve felt like being backstabbed. And he was also going through the news of just finding out his mom’s cancer was back. And the only other time Jeremiah “yelled” at Belly was when they got the flat tire on the way to cousins. And Jeremiah never said anything about Conrad he told Belly how her practically abandoning him felt. And the talked through their feelings. Conrad however did yell at Belly. He also told Belly that it was a mistake they ever got together. And then breaking up with Belly at her prom even if he wasn’t trying to was low.

The things with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting did not only surround their relationships with Belly. Jeremiah was/is mad that Conrad knew Susannah’s cancer was back and didn’t tell him. Jeremiah was also in his senior year of high school having to watch his mom die. Conrad was at collage and wasn’t home everyday to be there for them. And I get that he couldn’t be but he also had the time to go spend a bunch of time in Philly with the Conklin’s? He could have spent some of that time with his mom. And Conrad lied to Belly saying that Jeremiah was fine and was over her when that is not at all what Jeremiah had said. Jere literally said that he went to prom with Blake because homecoming king was pretty much preordained. He also said he took Blake instead of calling him his date. Belly and Conrad had been broken up and he did not NEED to get permission to go and date Belly from Conrad. Also Jere never talked bad about Conrad to other people.

And Jeremiah literally told both Belly and Conrad that if Belly chose Conrad it would be fine if that’s what she needed and he wouldn’t get in the way and they’d still be friends.

So YES, Jeremiah Fisher is ALWAYS SELFISH. It’s not like he puts on a fake smile to pretend he’s okay when he’s not. He totally didn’t put Belly’s needs before his letting Belly be with others while he’s in love with her.

Just wondering how do you not see how TOXIC Conrad is. His constantly telling people to grow up. Telling Belly their relationship was a mistake. Conrad pretending they didn’t almost kiss. His playing with Belly’s emotions. Flirting with Belly while he was with Nicole. Shutting everybody out. Oh and his reaction and response to Belly and Jeremiah kissing.

When you randomly go back and watch HSMTMTS and decided “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo isn’t about all the drama between Olivia, Sabrina Carpenter, and Joshua Bassett but is truly about Nini, Ricky and Lily. And like Sour is just the music Nini wrote the summer where everybody was at camp in szn 3. Like I mean hear me out. My illogical conspiracy theories also include the songs being about Nini, Ricky and Gina and kind of EJ. But like rewatch the show and then listen to the album and than talk to me about it.

I suppose we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I think it’s very easy for jelly to be seen as a better couple, but that’s because they don’t really care enough about each other for there to be passion or tension. They clearly lust after each other a lot, and I do believe they have a great friendship, but that’s all I see there, whereas with Conrad it’s a true deep love, maybe messy at the start but deeper nonetheless.

I think Jeres an easy rebound for belly. Which she even basically admits, when she says to Taylor that she will never be able to love anyone the way she loves Conrad, and she goes onto tell Jere that she wants Conrad but will settle for him because he’s real. As much as I dislike jere I do think he deserves better than that. And ultimately that’s what will happen in season three I suppose. My only wonder is if they will stick with the cheating storyline, or leave it trying to paint Jeremiah in a positive light and have belly and Conrad get back together in a different way.

I guess we will. I see the passion in both relationships. Both Conrad and Jeremiah truly love Belly. But I do think Conrad and Belly was just a built up what could be that it would never live up to what Belly imagined. Cause to her Conrad was a dream. And I think what Belly said to Jeremiah wasn’t that she was settling for him but that because they’ve grown up Belly realized that Conrad could never be what she wanted him to be but Jeremiah loves her and she loves him. Jeremiah is there fighting for her this season and I think Belly also really starts fighting for her relationship with Jeremiah too.

As for seeing Jelly as the better couple I actually very rarely see people saying that. Everybody typically is always like Bonrad because Belly had been in love with Conrad for so long. And I also wouldn’t call Jeremiah a rebound. There was a 2 month or so gap between the break up and the get together.

As for Belly not being able to love anybody the way she loved Conrad that honestly makes sense. A first love is always remembered and is always different. It’s a point where everything is new and great and nothing compares. But that doesn’t mean the next person you love, you love any less. It’s a different type of love. You’ll always love your first love. It’s the love of the fact that you were in love and got to feel it.
