Drabble List

So I just finished posting the last of the previous volley of drabbles so I decided to come up with a new prompt list. It’s mostly a hodge-podge of stuff from my own brain or inspired by songs or different shows and stuff but there are some from other prompt lists so, if anyone wants me to give credit, drop me a message and I’ll be sure to do so.

“If you had asked me to stay, I would’ve.”

“You’re too good for this world.”

“Could you be happy, here, with me?”

“How long do we have?”

“Do you think we’re bad people?”

“How did we become this?”

“I can hardly stand myself.”

“Go to hell.”

“I know it doesn’t seem like it, but I’m going to take care of you.”

“There was a time before all of this.”

“No one will ever believe us.”

“Don’t come near me or I swear I’ll kill you.”

“My hobby is making fun of you when you talk.”

“I used to do a lot of things.”

“It doesn’t matter. You’ve moved on and I have to be okay with that.”

I do manage to get away from the shop and have some fun sometimes.  Herb and I have been going out regularly since that first almost-date at the garden club meeting.  Sometimes Gilbert Jacquet and his friend Breanna join us too.

“Do you wish things had happened differently?” he asked suddenly.

She set down her glass hastily, nearly spilling her wine. “What?”

“Do you wish things had turned out differently for us?”

“Don, this isn’t a good time to talk about this.”

“Tell me,” he urged. “Because sometimes I feel like…in another universe…we could have been good together, you know?”

She picked up her wine glass and took a long slow sip. Then she sighed. “Don, it’s my wedding day. I don’t want to talk about what might have been between you and me all those years ago. We didn’t work out and I’ve moved on. I just wish you could do the same.” She laid a hand on his arm for an instant, the new ring on her finger gleaming.

“Kaylynn, come dance!”

She finished her wine and stood up. “Gotta go,” she said, smiling.

He watched her walk away toward her new husband and tried to bury the old ache. He spotted Nina and Dina on the dance floor and Cassandra at another table and the ache grew. How had he managed to love so many women and yet end up alone?

I’m okay with it, he told himself, standing to go refill his glass. I like being single. But a part of him still wondered…In another universe, what might have been?

—Initially I was going to have him talking to Nina or Cassandra, but I figured that Kaylynn would be more likely to get married after breaking up with Don than either of those two. I hope you enjoyed this. Thanks for the prompt, @jaydesims!

Florence’s round was quick, simple, sweet, and drama-free.  It was a lot of fun to play, even if not all that much happened. Next time will be more exciting, I’m sure.  In the meantime, enjoy these pictures that didn’t fit with Florence’s letter. 

Florence kept looking at the camera while on her date with Herb, as if to say, “:Isn’t he the cutest?  Can I keep him?”

Herb is pretty cute (especially looking out at the weather), so I will definitely let her keep him.  

I don’t know much about Herb yet (I really should have had Florence ask him some questions but I forgot), but I know that (a) he loves to sing and (b) he’s not very good at it.  That didn’t stop him, and since Florence isn’t too good at karaoke either, she didn’t mind. 

I wanted to have Florence say a bit more about Gilbert and Breanna, because their relationship really does seem to be an odd one, but I don’t think Florence would want to go into too much detail writing to her parents. Gil and Breanna had a pillow fight at Flo’s house, but then Gilbert had coffee with another girl on the boardwalk while Breanna was there, but THEN he let Breanna sit on his lap while they were hanging out later. I need to remember this weird relationship for the Jacquet round. We’ll see where it goes then, I guess. 

Anyways, the Tinkers are up next, so let’s end on a picture of Wanda in the flower shop.

So, news.  For one thing, my shop is finally at Rank 5!  I’ve got a lot of great regular customers. I think a lot of that has to do with a good review I got in the paper recently.  The reporter really seemed impressed.  I think there might be a Best of the Best Award in my future someday!
