Me when I need a reminder self worth isn't tied to achievements and there can still be hope/love even in the hard times: I'm going to write a book where the characters learn this. That'll be a great way to explore this in more depth.

Me when I am sad and go to write but I have to start at the beginning and the characters have barely started their arcs so they refuse to let themselves be happy cause "they don't deserve it": oh. This is really sad and I don't wanna.

I guess thats the downside to having my characters start the story in dire need of growth. Sigh.

The Hunger Games has the FUNNIEST arranged marriage of all time btw. Katniss realizes she'll have to marry Peeta and she's obviously upset so Haymitch tries to comfort her by saying "you could do a lot worse" and Katniss is like "well DUH of course I could do worse than Peeta he's the best & handsomest person on the face of the planet but that's not the POINT I want to be able to choose for MYSELF". Then she goes and chooses Peeta anyway lol. Comedy gold I tell you

Different things Peeta could say upon Gales return to twelve post epilogue (non serious/funny options only):

“It’s… Dale right?” “Gale” “Dale! Yep, that’s what I said”

“We do NOT need a new vacuum cleaner.” *slams front door*

“Do I know you from anywhere?” “It’s me. You know me.” “Don’t! Don’t tell me, just give me a sec” “Peeta…” “are you in adult entertainment?”

“I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. Yes, I have heard of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ, and no, I do not wanna hear more about him! Goodbye!”

“You look a little big for a Boy Scout.”

(Image Gale shows up in a soldiers uniform or something) “I served my time, you’re not recruiting me into any damn army.”

“You’re too old to be mowing lawns for money, maybe it’s time for a real job?”

“Oh no, I didn’t know daycare could call the army on people!”

So I'm beta reading for someone right now and who was going to tell me it's this fun! I get to be the hype squad IN THE ACTUAL DOCUMENT!!

And it's a second draft so the only major notes I need to leave are for pacing/character arcs, which, HELLO that's my favorite part.

The story is already so good. I'm just loving being a tiny little part of someone else's writing journey and getting a behind the scenes look at their brilliance.
