The Hunger Games has the FUNNIEST arranged marriage of all time btw. Katniss realizes she'll have to marry Peeta and she's obviously upset so Haymitch tries to comfort her by saying "you could do a lot worse" and Katniss is like "well DUH of course I could do worse than Peeta he's the best & handsomest person on the face of the planet but that's not the POINT I want to be able to choose for MYSELF". Then she goes and chooses Peeta anyway lol. Comedy gold I tell you
The first rule of dealing with people is: everybody wants to be a good person. Even your shitty boss.
The second rule of dealing with people is: everyone fails at being a good person. Even you. Even your best friend.
I think the rest flow from these.
Wondering if the fact I struggle to write found family despite really wanting to is because I haven't found mine irl yet.
Me when I need a reminder self worth isn't tied to achievements and there can still be hope/love even in the hard times: I'm going to write a book where the characters learn this. That'll be a great way to explore this in more depth.
Me when I am sad and go to write but I have to start at the beginning and the characters have barely started their arcs so they refuse to let themselves be happy cause "they don't deserve it": oh. This is really sad and I don't wanna.
I guess thats the downside to having my characters start the story in dire need of growth. Sigh.
Since I first heard about Sunrise on the Reaping, I keep remembering when Katniss is watching the 50th Quarter Quell, and she says that the scenery is so beautiful that even Haymitch, who has been scowling the whole time, can't help but smile. It gave me such a visceral feeling... Haymitch, 16, looking out on those butterfly fields where 47 people are to die, and they're beautiful. So beautiful.
I really hope that part stays in SotR
