young trans girl here turning 18, how do you deal with height issues. im really tall like 6'5 or over and it really hurts right now i just wonder if it gets better.

Hello, A saw would cut down on the issue....... I'm just kidding Hun. Oh how I wish I was 18 again. Well I'm 5'10" and I never really let my height bother me. I'm not completely sure why. I immediately went out in public in late 2005 once I decided I was no longer going to live by patriarchy's dictation. My confidence level was sky high and I think that confidence shown to anyone who seen me and they just thought I was another cisgender woman. So I had very little issues in public even in rural WI. I even hung out in a biker bar in Portage. I remember thinking, would my height give me away. But I always thought of the many cisgender women who were taller than I, and felt if I didn't dwell on it and just was myself it wouldn't be an issue. And it wasn't. Granted when out and about with daily activities I never wore over 3 inch heels. Saved the 4 and 5 inch for clubbing or special events. I never seemed to get clocked. Something else that changed without me realizing was the was I walked. I was told I had a wiggle! So, I had to ask some friends, Do I have a wiggle when I walk. Yes, you have a wiggle. What? Really? Where did that come from? Apparently that was something I was always keeping forced in trying to live as a guy and once I gave myself permission to be me, out came the hip wiggle! I felt lucky that my voice is more gender neutral so that helped as well. I know you are like 7 or more inches higher than I, which does make it a bit more difficult as the taller one is, the easier for others to see you. I guess my advice would be not to wear heels or only short heels. Other then that just be confident in yourself. I know that's easier said than done, but it truly makes a difference. With confidence you tend to blend into the crowd more easily. Present the best of how you wish to be viewed and don't pay much attention to others around if you catch someone looking in your direction, unless they or the situation looks dangerous, of course. In other words don't give them any reason to continue to look, like acting sheepish. Just continue on with your business as usual. You want them thinking, "Wow, she is a tall woman, probably a basketball player", or whatever. I'm not sure If I've been of any help. I hope so. I wish you the best Hun. The queer community is full of hurt people.

This can lead to a knee-jerk reaction when we hear someone else say "I am hurt". We look at them and say "shut up, you're not as hurt as me because you have X privilege".

This leads to femme afab queers being told "you can pass and hide as cishet, you're not as hurt as queer women who look queer, you're just complying with the patriarchy's ideals for beauty, you're hurting the queer community, you're anti feminist."

It leads to masc afab people, whether trans men or nonbinary or genderqueer etc, being told everything from "you're not as hurt, you can pass as a cis man" to "you have no desire to transition, you still look like a girl, shut up".

It leads to trans amab people who are nonbinary or genderqueer or agender etc, who still dress or look "masculine", being told that they are "unsafe" for queer spaces, that they don't belong at a "women and nonbinary meeting", that they are "basically just cis men trying to escape accountability".

It leads to asexuals being told "you don't even feel sexual attraction, the thing we're ostracized for! how could you possibly be oppressed? You're just straight and a prude" and aromantics being told "you're just straight and like casual sex, get over yourself" and both being told "you're just a cishet who wants to steal resources".

I have heard every single kind of queer person say "I have been harmed and ostracized by the queer community". Lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and mspec people, trans people, aroace people - every single one of us has expressed feeling ostracized by our own community.

On the plus side, this means you're not alone. Your group isn't the only one facing this. You have allies!! Other queer people who have gone through what you've gone through!

We need queer unity. We need to stop attacking each other. If you feel the urge to say "shut up, my group has been hurt MORE", go take a walk. Remember that every single one of us has been hurt.

These have been my wishes all my life until 2005 when I promised to myself to live my authentic self from this day and everyday forward. I flipped off society and my family and now am the happiest woman I've ever been. I'd be the happiest woman in the world if not for societies ignorance and hatred and thus financial struggles. But that still does not change how happy I feel inside. People ask me if I regret living my correct gender. Oh hell no, I'd never go back to pretending, hiding my true self. That caused me severe depression. Why would I live for how others want me to live? That's just so wrong.

It's genetic and biological. It's past down in bloodlines. It usually skips a generation, but not always, before the gene expresses itself again. Overs 3000 peer reviewed papers have been published on transgender. In 1887 the medical establishment declared trans people, (although they didn't use transgender as that was not used yet) a subset of intersex. It's has a genetic connection. This is science, people
