There is a difference between saying

This ship makes me uncomfortable and/or it makes me experience negative emotions or memories. I am going to avoid this ship so that I won’t experience these feelings and memories again in the future.

and saying

This ship makes me uncomfortable and/or it makes me experience negative emotions or memories. Everyone should avoid this ship and anyone who fails to avoid it (or worse yet, actively ships it!) is a horrible person. No content for this ship should exist and any content that already does exist for this ship should be removed from the internet. Once no one ships it anymore and all evidence that the ship ever existed has been removed, I will stop experiencing these feelings and memories.

letting a traumatized character have their happy ending where they can recover from their trauma will always be a thousand times more powerful than killing them off for shock value
