so i was at this traditional end-of-winter masquerade carnival in my country and i fully saw someone walking around in a detailed, professional looking ahsoka costume
does anyone have any links to GIF makers/resources for making GIFs? I want to try making them, and I don't know any good resources. All of the fancy ones are paid, and they don't accept YouTube videos.
If Anakin hadn't been in love with Padme, do you think he still would've gone off the rails? Or do you think he would have found someone else to fixate on?
(He's the straight version of #gayDisaster, but I can't help but wonder how much of that was Padme's dramatic queen influence.)
the thing you have to understand about anakin is that he is bananas. his brain is a giant banana split with three scoops of vanilla ice cream and a pool of chocolate syrup and a single tiny maraschino cherry that comprises the part of his brain that questions his biases but that cherry is buried by the big old hunk of mushy gros michel swimming around his brain cavity just waiting to pour out of his ears at the slightest innocuous provocation. anakin skywalker thinks he’s the specialist little guy in the world and also god’s most hated creature and he hates himself for being alive and he hates everyone else for being alive and crucially. crucially. he cannot articulate any of this
and THEN. on top of the giant gooey mess that was once anakin’s brain, you add a literal evil genius, the kind of mastermind who looks at a traumatized child and is already imagining which bits of him he’s going to cut off to make a giant evil cyborg to do his bidding. palpatine took one look at the soup filling anakin’s skull and went ‘okay I can work with this’ and promptly started adding cyanide and never stopped.
there was no escape for anakin. there was never going to be an escape for anakin, because if it wasn’t padmé it was going to be obi-wan or ahsoka or rex or any one of a million other people with palpatine waiting at the end of the tunnel like the most evil grandpa you’ve seen in your life
I’m a cis man sure but i also wanna opt out of the gender binary. None of that shit is my fault or my responsibility and i don’t want any part of it
i always wonder, why exactly does anakin hide his relationship with padme if the jedi are allowed to love?
like, if the jedi ban toxic relationships, that's okay. but, anakin and padme genuinely don't believe that their relationship has issues. we know about the insane things those two have done for one another, but no one else does. the council, obi-wan, no one knows. you think those idiots are flying their asses to tatooine and talking to owen and beru? anakin and padme just believe that they're in love. what's stopping them from having a relationship in the open? they'd still be lying about the severity of it, but what's stopping them from just being like, 'oh yeah, we're sleeping together and occasionally go out.' anakin could just simply swear that he isn't attached to a toxic degree, and the council just won't put him on missions with padme to prevent conflict of interest. i get that romantic relationships do often descend into attachment, but numerous jedi had affairs and relationships with one another during the clone wars. this clearly was not new.
like, the only way this would make sense is if everyone was sneaking around the council's back, and no one was allowed to have any relationships. i get the desire to absolve the jedi of this stuff, but not being able to love is a huge plot point in the series. nothing in the series implies that they can, and obi-wan's platonic, familial feelings for anakin are a huge source of shame for him (he's literally embarrassed to admit it to mace windu and yoda in the ROTS novel), but a lot of people i follow show that they can. removing this plot thread ruins a lot of justification and just makes the jedi order and obi-wan seem like horrible teachers for not explaining their rules properly to their student.
