AITA for inviting my wife's political enemies to a dinner I organized?
I (M45) organized a dinner that's happening tonight for my regimental mate, a governor, which I discussed with my wife (F41) months ago and I put it on her calendar. She forgot about it, but she's a fairly busy politician herself so I understand.
Anyway, everything was fine until she looked at the seating chart, and saw that I had invited some of my politician friends to the dinner. She asked me if I was being serious, and claimed that these friends "hated her" and were "trying to undo everything she worked for." She said that I should have made her aware that they were coming, but I made sure they were seated at the other end of the table from her, and I made a lighthearted joke that I sat her at the "boring" end of the table with her political friends as my friends are more fun.
She didn't get that I was joking, and went off on me and tried to guilt trip me about how my "fun" friends were causing a sector to starve because they passed some legislation recently concerning shipping lanes.
I could see she was tired from her work and it was making her overemotional, so I suggested she go take a nap.
I really don't understand why she's so against having them over even though she deals with them in the Senate all the time. I've known them for a while and they're all pretty fun to hang out with, so I don't get her problem.
She seemed fine by the end of our conversation and walked off, but I'm struggling to understand why she had a problem to begin with. So AITA?

I cannot help but like Saw Gerrera.
He’s an evil character certainly. Saw targets civilians, kills and tortures POWs. He’s a mess of paranoia who serves as example of a person who’s worst aspects have been brought to the fore by war.
But.
Saw Gerrera is willing to throw down as both terrorist and revolutionary. He fights the empire relentlessly, harnessing anti imperial sentiment and ACTING on it. He’s willing to free wookiees on Kashyyyk when no one will (even though he abandons them later). Speaking of, his organization is diverse, in aliens and himself being a person of colour. Giving the impression of them in the Star Wars galaxy being lumpen proletariat. The people who’d be most disenfranchised by the Empire representing more of a people’s struggle. Plus in Andor he is shown to be unwilling to work with human supremacists which gets him points from me. Don’t work with racists it ain’t a good idea (plus it’ll turn out bad, remember what happened to Walter White in Breaking Bad?).
My problem is that Saw’s less revolutionarily nuanced then I’d like (Byproduct of not being written by people who know what actual anarchists are I guess). He’s more caricature of violent revolutionary descending into paranoia. This is really expressed by the fact that violence is Saw’s main tool and he and his partisans do not embrace a diversity of tactics. It hurts their credibility and isolates the Partisans as terroirists.
Still I love him with Luthen, I appreciate his struggle and I acknowledge his faults. Regardless of them though, it’s important for the rebellion to have someone who will fight the empire for the right reason. Because the empire is evil and facist. And it is of import to note that Saw acts (irresponsibly maybe) but in service of The Cause, helping the oppressed by hurting the system of oppression.
(I will not credit him with Tech’s death. Saw wasn’t responsible for the Batch and it was pure coincidence they ran into each other that day. Saw did his mission, fucking shit up. If you wanna credit anyone with Techs death give it to the people literally shooting at them. The Empire. (plus It is good whenever someone try’s to kill Tarkin.))

one of my favorite things about andor is that people understand where the blame really goes — with the empire. we hear a little bit that the people of ferrix are mad at cassian, but in the end every single person he sees welcomes him back and says they're sorry about his mom. bix doesn't blame cassian. the younger inmates don't get mad at ulaf for not being to carry his weight in narkina 5. instead they help him. a lesser show would have made different choices. but in andor when people could blame each other they instead realize who the real enemy is and that's solidarity.
Wow! I love that the official timeline of Star Wars is KOTOR -> Star Wars: the Clone Wars -> Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor -> Star Wars: Rebels -> Andor -> og Trilogy! Such a great franchise with little to no blunders!!

I just finished episode 12 and its some of my new favorite tv, episode 10 still takes the cake but the tension buildup with the funeral is spot on
after the death star reveal, “people have to know about this” just hits so different. how many of them really made it out? how many have been confined in that same hell of a prison again, forced to make more minuscule parts of a grander plan, a heinous death machine that will kill millions? were the pieces we saw put into construction made by cassian or melshi’s hands? by kino’s? will we ever know? does it even matter? good god. this show has me by the throat.

I don’t think Syril and Dedra will survive the first season:
I think Dedra will be lynched on Ferrix, and Syril will be put in that starfighter they talked about in the episode.
Or maybe not. I dunno their contracts. I just think this is a way to complete the ‘spark of the rebellion season” cause the next season is 4 3 episode arcs separated by years and I don’t know how their characters will translate to that format.
Are they gonna show up each arc or something? Or are they recurring villains? I think the most likely thing if they survive, they’ll show up individually in different arcs to be an antagonist one more time.
