To summarize: Kenny dies permanently in that one episode (you know the one). And his ghost hangs around and watches all his friends grow up. They all can see Kenny (eventually), and promise that they'll always be there for Kenny even as they grow up.. Kenny promises to stay here with them for ever.

Except when they die... they don't become ghosts. Their souls move on. And it hurts, because Kenny knows they cannot control it. They aren't choosing to leave him. But they all made a promise. He wants them to keep it. He's scared of being alone.

Eventually everyone Kenny once knew is dead. But he still stays. Because they promised they'd come back. They promised they'd be together. And Kenny will do his best to keep his promise and so he will wait.

Until his friends kids are dead. Until their kids are dead. Until the end of the millennium. Until the rise of a new generation... until the end of the world.

Even if it hurts. Even if he's scared. Even if he's still just that little kid, who died so so young and really just wants a hug.

Kenny will wait for them. Always.

And eventually... what ever was keeping Kenny from moving on will end. Because all things end.

And Kenny will be invited to heaven. Or hell. To something new, some place in the beyond.

And even though Kenny could leave. He could.

He won't.

Because he made a promise.

And so he'll wait for them. Till the end of time.

It was his last pill, but he needed it now more than ever. He hadn't spoken to Kyle like this for a long time, and he couldn't let on how much he was struggling. Not now, not yet. Kyle would certainly give him a tongue lashing (and not even the fun kind). Getting caught was the last thing on his agenda, but talking to Kyle was a priority at this point.

He'd missed him. Even if he couldn't hug him openly like his friend group had back in elementary school (before presenting), at the very least he could be near him. 'Accidentally' sit closer than social acceptable. Kyle wouldn't call him out on it, he never did. Kenny had the sneaking suspicion that Kyle thought it was due to the fact he couldn't be cuddly with his siblings anymore. Which wasn't wrong. But certainly wasn't right.

Not that Kenny was going to correct him.

He slipped into the omega restrooms, staring down his own face in the mirror. Kenny wasn't noticeably tired, but his shift yesterday had been a long one. It was unreasonable to keep pushing himself if he wanted to keep his heat-issue a secret. The pill sat heavy in his palm. It was the last one he had, for now. It might be possible to get some from Cartman. That dick was a goldmine of heat related suppressors, but he'd never give them freely.

At least it would last him the rest of the day, that meant work at the library would go smoother tonight. He wouldn't have to deal with any alphas hounding him outside of the usual assholes. Who knows? Maybe he'd finish on time and even get a good night's sleep. It was worth the chance, Kenny was surely feeling optimistic about it.

He had nothing to lose, anyways. It was either ditch Kyle and waste his last pill on something minor, or take it now when it mattered most. His decision was obvious.

It Was His Last Pill, But He Needed It Now More Than Ever. He Hadn't Spoken To Kyle Like This For A Long

His throat was too dry to swallow, so he cupped his hands under one of the automatic faucets and quickly gulped down the water that came out. It was messy, but affective. At least he had plenty of time to dry himself off while he waited to make sure it took effect.

There was something calming about this. Knowing that he could hide what he felt with something so simple and tiny. Knowing that Kyle wouldn't be able to tell that Kenny sat so close because he wanted to be close to Kyle, specifically. Knowing he could get away with being in love since Kyle couldn't smell his want on him. It was wrong and misleading, a cop-out.

Kyle wouldn't disown him or anything so drastic if he knew Kenny liked him... probably. There was no reason to hide other than the fear that Kyle might view him differently afterwards. Might pity him.

Boiling shame made itself at home under his skin, prickling subtly at his self-esteem. Which, admittedly, wasn't that high to begin with. Kenny was another needy omega, like any other. Useless and with only one thought in mind. Just like everyone said.

It was what it was. There was no point dwelling on it now, he couldn't miss his chance to talk to Kyle, or at least sit with him while he studied.

He made his way back, more subdued than before, nervous to reach out in the case his suppressants hadn't taken their full effect.

"Sorry, had to take a piss," he said, not sounding sorry at all. Kyle rolled his eyes, but a subtle smile betrayed his fondness. "Whatever, did you want help studying or not?"

Now that was a sore subject. Kenny was, obviously, an omega. Which made it extremely hard for him to get into college. So hard, in fact, that he didn't.

But Kyle didn't know that, and Kenny swore on his (undead) father's grave that he'd never let him figure it out. Which certainly wasn't easy with how sharp Kyle was.

"Well, would you look at that?" Kenny tisked, seating himself next to Kyle instead of across from him, "I must have forgot my books in my dorm, I guess we can't study today. What a shame."

Kyle did not take this teasing nearly as well. "Kenny, you can't keep skipping out like this. If people don't think you're taking classes seriously enough they'll kick you out. Omegas get double the scrutiny of normal students,"

If not for the way he said it, concerned and caring, Kenny would feel sick. If it were anyone but Kyle. The reminder that he was only half human. Only allowed half the rights and whims of others. It wasn't a fun thought.

Of course Kenny knew. Kevin had trained it into him since day one, that others wouldn't view him as a person. That he had to be careful. That even if it wasn't his fault, even if he said no, he could and would still be blamed. It was scary to think Karen would have to go through many of the same challenges.

Hell, that was why Cartman applied to college under the alpha category. A stupid decision, Kenny conceded, since beta would be more believable, but Cartman had always been too prideful for his own good.

"I promise I'm studying, I have a friend who forces me to study in the library all the time. I thought this could just be us time... Y'know?" And if he was making puppy eyes up at Kyle then who could blame him? He'd just say it was unintentional anyways. Omegas were meant to be cute, he couldn't help that.

"... Okay. But bring your notes next time, I can review them for you," Kyle wouldn't meet his eye. Kenny wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing, but if Kyle was relenting then he'd count it as an overall win.

"I will. Next time." If there was a next time, considering the fact he had no more suppressants left to take. Kyle didn't know that, and Kenny wouldn't let him know, but it still haunted his mind that their time together was painfully limited.
