Malleus wasn't there to accompany you on your typical nightly walk, which didn't bother you all that much. It certainly didn't prevent you from enjoying the crisp autumn wind on your skin. Even the little goosebumps that littered your arms brought a sense of comfort.

"It's quite chilly for you, don't you think?" A smile graced your lips at his attempt to scare you. Lilia, of course.

You'd taken a liking to the fae, even despite his insistence that he's only by your side to keep you out of trouble. It's endearing, how he seems to be by your side any moment you figure you're by yourself.

Turning to face him, you held out your hand. "Would you like to join me?" He chuckled at the sight. You weren't afraid of him. You never appeared to be. "Perhaps you can keep me warm."

You'd be a fool to overlook the smirk that spread over his features. The look you've grown to adore from him. One full of mischief.

"How intriguing you are, [name]. Not afraid of an old bat like me in the slightest. I'd fall for your advances if I wasn't so familiar with your tactics." He didn't take your outstretched hand, instead walking around you, following the trail you seemed set on following. "But, I suppose I can indulge this once."

Perceived as laying all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. Even without confidence of your chosen competitor winning, you want to believe hopelessly that they will not fail you.

Of course you’re typically well aware of their failure before the race begins. You’d hear others make remarks about how naive it is to place your bets on such a pathetic excuse of a runner, all in hushed voices.

But it’s hope, or maybe delusion that pushes you to cheer on the sidelines.

But a losing dog is only that, a loser. It will always fail you. So stop convincing yourself otherwise.

"You looked lonely, so I figured you needed a friend," was your response when he asked why you insisted on staying in the lounge after hours.

There was no malice in his voice, just drowsiness. His shoulders were more slumped than usual. You wanted nothing more than to offer assistance with cleaning up, but you knew it wouldn't do. The ever independent Jade Leech despised relying on others, much less the idea of owing them.

It was a tiring evening, you'd gathered. All the other students were permitted the chance to return to their rooms. All but the twins, and Floyd had already slithered off to go lay down. Jade never stopped anyone from leaving him to deal with these messes.

Scanning the lounge, it all looked fine. As expected from the moray, not a speck of filth remained. So why did he stay? He knew you were fully capable of walking yourself back to your dorm.

He looked exhausted while attempting to hold his smile. "I certainly hope that isn't pity I detect in your tone. I could find out quite-," but you did the unthinkable.

"I'd like to hug you, Jade. Is that okay?"

You caught him off guard.

"Ah- pardon?" His eyes no longer held their dreary appearance. They were blown wide.

But you kept going, with your uncomforting honestly. Like a barrage of attacks. "It's okay if not. But you appear exhausted, and I'd like to be here for you." His heart was racing at an abnormal rate. "I'm sure my feelings for you are obvious, so I'm not concerned with that. I just can't have you dying on me before I know how you feel."

Oh dear. Were human's faces meant to get this warm?

"My, you could stop anyone's heart with such carelessness. Or have your own trampled. Do you have such little regard for rejection?" He was hoping to turn the situation around on you. Like a last ditch effort. But it failed.

"Is that a no?"

"I...don't recall saying that."

His eyes were partially closed with his mouth agape. It was a quiet moment after you kissed him. You were prepared for the explosion of confusion at your actions, but all he did was lean into the hand holding the left side of his face.

"Again."

With a smile, you indulged his request for a repeat of your previous show of affection. His hands hesitantly reached up to grab you with a slight shake to them. Perhaps he was shy, or afraid of harming you. Either way, you found it endearing. Seeing the typically loud and confident guard of Malleus seem to grow unsure of his touch.

When you pulled away again to breathe, he made sure to keep you close. An unsure grasp around your back as his gaze was fixed on your eyes. To see him in such a vulnerable state of uncertainty was amusing. It appeared Lilia was right. When a fae, half or not, loves someone...it is as if that person is all that matters in sincere moments.

"You know, in moments like these, it's like I'm all that matters."

His eyes widened for a second, and you expected him to object, but all he did was pull you closer. His previously unsure hands went to your waist and head. In a tight embrace he mumbled something you couldn't make out.

"Maybe barely...[name]."

Current project

As it currently stands, I do plan to participate in Flufftober with my own silly prompts with a couple characters from Genshin Impact and Twisted Wonderland.

I will be updating whenever I feel like it over the course of this month, as the prompts are not organized in specific order of which one will be first.

I do hope others will enjoy my seasonal works for this month <3

Walking out the door with your bags

You wished you'd been at work when he decided to move his stuff out. At least it would've been easier to come home to the absence of him and his possessions. It would've still been painful, but not like seeing him carry out his boxes of items you convinced him into having at your place.

Despite still paying for and legally living with Kaveh, he kept many of his "hideous" house decor in your home after his roommate banished it. Now you'll lose that hint of a smile or chuckle he gets when Kaveh complains to you about them.

"If you'd just communicate more, you wouldn't have to do all this," you mumbled. You were more than just bummed out, sitting on a dining room stool.

Just as he was about to walk out another box, he stopped. "Well, I have no intention of changing for an individual who sees nothing wrong with their own self. But it's also not my job to tell you how you should or should not be."

Archons, that stung.

"This is my final box. Goodbye, and I do hope we can be cordial for our friends' sake." You wanted nothing more than to run up, hug him from behind, and beg for him to stay. But there was no point. He had no intention of changing for you two, and you couldn't either.
