an aroace’s opinion of the alastor situation

it’s canon. don’t start with the buts or ifs cause that’s just you erasing our character and ignoring recent VA Q/A stuff! it’s canon end of the story he is an aroace character who is touch-repulsed by men and okay with touching women (I personally believe this had a lot to do with his backstory which is just a much cooler take than any “relationship” speculations like please can we have more complex characters that don’t focus on romantic/sexual relationships?????)

I have shipped my fair share of questionable, disliked, weird ships I am not a saint by any means, but as an aroace, I have authority over aroace characters! alastor is not the type of aroace who seems like he would enjoy being in a relationship! at least not a common conventional relationship. I will say I love the idea of queerplatonic alastor and rosie, it has such a great setup and just sounds adorable (they both just acted like charlie’s parents that whole ep)

on the case of others

• he is ALWAYS shutting down advances from angel so don’t even start

• how tf can you listen to hell's greatest dad and still ship alastor and charlie…he called her his kid?! even if it was just to piss of lucifer it’s just a weird set up for a ship! • vox and alastor are just so watered down if you slap a “gay tension” label on them and move on, can we have more depth, please???? one sided vox and alastor sounds incredibly interesting! I’m not a producer story writer by any means but imagine a fucking episode where its alluded OR clearly mentioned! vox making it clear that all his initial disdain to alastor is cause he had a fucking dumb high school style crush on him and when he got rejected and his fame damaged by alastor his hate grew! that would be a hilarious and a great setup to just acknowledge alastor’s aroace identity! there’s way to comfortably incorporate aroace identities into the universe and characters!

• lucifer again same fucking thing with vox, this as a one-sided or even platonic ship just sounds so much more fun!

• for the rest it’s something along the lines of that makes no sense, is impossible, too weird, or has absolutely 0 setup to it

and don’t get me started on allos being like “well aroace people can still date and have sex” Yes they can…but that’s not the FUCKING POINT! as an allo you’re never gonna understand how it feels to be in a relationship while being aroace it’s a completely different feeling to what you understand as a requirement for a relationship (trust me no allo has understood when I tried to explain) in turn you’re definitely not gonna be able to portray that (fanart or writing) in a way that’s not damaging to us.

if you’re gonna just gonna use that as an excuse to do whatever u wanna do without being respectful to his canon identity then you’re just a horrible person, it’s not an excuse to do whatever if u wanna do to him!

yes aroace people can date and have relationships and be hot! but it’s not YOUR place to do that to aroace characters without AT LEAST taking in advice from aroace people on making your fanart/ships less hurtful to us. “he has canon fangirls tho!” okay? how does that help or prove you’re point? again not one is saying you can’t say alastor is hot or find him attractive do that by all means! his canon fangirl (if the comic is indeed considered part of canon show stuff) proves that THAT is not a problem!

hell people finding alastor hot while acknowledging his aroace nature would be PERFECT because it would dismantle this idea that aroace people have got to be robots and ugly and heartless and weird, aroace people can be hot, and sexy and STILL be awarearoace! so, by all means, ship yourself with him, while I don’t really understand y/n or self-insert, something like that is clearly fanon and done to make one individual happy without affecting canon in any way (and yes fanon affects canon doesn’t even start, shit we say has an impact on what the creators will put on screen or the connotations what they make will have) so it’s not too big of a concern.

the problem is when his identity is ignored completely because “he doesn’t look/behave aroace” if mf were saying that about any other lgbtq identity, there would be actual war, it’s so clear you don’t wanna treat aspecs with decency or listen to us!

there is so much representation IN THE SHOW so many canon things you can draw upon for your ships HELL THERES A CANON LESBIAN SHIP! and yet u have to go and ruin the only aroace character we get per decade. and don’t get me started on the lesbian erasure this fandom has, Christ you guys hate to see vaggie and charlie being a canon couple so much it’s embarrassing.

to conclude, aphobia is real and a HUGE problem is fandom spaces, grow up and behave properly y’all are not rabid animals who need to sexualize everything you see!

btw non of this applies if you’re an aroace writing or making fanart for alastor or an aroace fan enjoying said content <3 you understand how this feels and how much representation matters to us, you can not fuck it up because you KNOW how being an aroace works! so if you’re using his characters to explore how you feel/your identity that is more than fine! finding your first character that helps you explore your attraction or lack of attraction and feels is SO IMPORTANT!

Idk why but the concept of Sebastian facing demon peer pressure from other demons is both interesting and funny to me.

Like, I know we haven't really seen a lot of demons as a species nor do we know how they behave in general (unless you count the garbagefire that was Kuroshitsuji II of course but I digress)
