TW: description of wounds, needle, held down, explosion

Snippet #3.02

All they knew for certain was their leg was in pain. No, that wasn’t the right word. Burning, aching… throbbing? Yeah, those were better descriptions. All three fit the agonizing feeling that made Hero want to scream.

They knew the walls were a dark green, the cabinets were a shiny silver color. The hero tried to focus on the things around them. It’d keep them from full blown panic.

They swallowed— though their throat was sandpaper —when they noticed a cut about mid-thigh too clean to be accident, right where the searing seemed to originate from.

Upon closer inspection it almost looked like someone slashed their suit then stabbed them. But there wasn’t blood anywhere? Just a blackish-blue bruise the size of a fist?

Hey, wait a minute, that was the same mark an epipen would leave. Wait a minute, did an epipen do that? Did their epipen do that?

It was at that moment the door swung open. The hero froze as two people walked in. Lab coats, one in a turtleneck, the other in a set of off-blue colored scrubs.

They immediately categorized them as civilians, medical workers. The two kept their heads buried in their tablets, effectively not noticing the hero’s awakened state. That was until one of them pulled out a needle and reached for the IV.

The only way Hero could describe what happened when they grabbed the medic’s arm as pure chaos. The medic shrieked, scaring the other nurse who in turn tossed their tablet. The scream apparently alerted others, and now there were more people flooding through the door.

The command for someone to hold Hero down came from the first nurse, and moments later their arms, legs, and shoulders were pinned down. They couldn’t get up. They couldn’t fight them. No, nononono.

“Getoffgetoffgetoff. Get off me!”

“Let them alone,” A new voice rang, calm, but yet still commanding. It was enough that the nurses backed off, thank goodness.

“Its morphine, if that’s what you were so dearly frightened about. You were afraid of it being poison?”

Did they just-? How did they know that?

“Or was it something else entirely … You’ve been quite on edge, even before the doctors arrived…” Oh, they’re a mind reader. Great, just what Hero needed.

“Now now, that’s no way to greet your savior,”

Who is this, who do they think they are?

“You’ll call me a concerned party. If I may ask, do you remember what happened that landed you here?”

Hero couldn’t seem to remember anything. The last thing they could remember was sprinting across rooftop after rooftops towards a bank vault heist in progress. They could see a figure in the distance, but Hero was too far away yet to see who. Was it Supervillain or Thief, perhaps?

No, it was someone they’d never seen before. Hero made note of the stormy grey body suit, a deep green glow illuminating from lines carved into their suit. They couldn’t tell for certain, but it looked like the suit was the expensive stuff— fireproof, bulletproof, the works.

Whoever this was, they had deep connections. And money. Lots of money.

Hero made their presence known as they approached. The figure swiveled, eyes wide. They took a step back. And another. Then they were running into the bank? Despite the questionable action, Hero gave chase.

When the person took a left turn down a corridor, Hero didn’t expect them to come barreling back at an inhuman speed. Hero crashed into the figure, falling face first to the ground. They looked up.

Oh, so that’s why they were running like they saw a demon. That’s a bomb.

Well, it was close enough to a demon.

The last thing they could remember was running. The other person was nowhere in sight, so they must have already made it out, right?

“Hey.” Someone shook Hero’s shoulder, effectively bringing them back to reality. But what about the epipen bruise? They couldn’t explain where the mark came from.

Their savior chuckled. “I’ll let you alone for a moment. There’s someone waiting, they can clarify I do believe.” And without answering Hero’s question, they left.

The next person to enter the room sent Hero’s heart in a frenzy.

“I’m told you recognized me,” They held out a hand to shake. It was them. They were alive! “I’m Villain. And I believe we have a few things to discuss.”

Short Prompt #352

"...What are you doing...?" - the villain carefully asked, watching the civilian with a quirked brow.

Civilian turned to face them and huffed, dropping the shaking stranger they had been holding against the wall and letting them scramble away. "Well, if Hero is gonna be such a lazy ass, not do their job and keep us safe, then we'll just have to do it ourselves."

"...And that guy...?" - Villain questioned once more, half-heartedly pointing towards where the other person ran.

"Tried to stab me, so I pulled a gun on him."

My Choice Chapter 8: Rescue

Chapter 7

My Choice Chapter 8: Rescue

The following morning I’m awake at my usual time, dawn, in my usual place, next to the window on Hiccup’s roof. I’d made up my mind about asking for help finding Stardancer. There were still three islands left to search, and if those failed, Hiccup would know where else to look. Which is why I intend to relax until he wakes…….or I could wake him now. I open his window, waking Toothless, and drop to the floor beside his bed. I gently shake him awake. He groans and blinks up at me. “Sadie?” “Sorry to wake you, Hiccup,” I say. “But I need your help with something. Get the gang together and meet me at the academy.” With those words I head back out the window, grabbing my satchel before dropping to the ground and heading to the academy. While I wait for the others to arrive, I study the map up on the wall, comparing it with my own. They were pretty much the same so I grab a pencil and begin crossing off the islands I’ve already searched. As the others wander in. “What do think you’re doing?” Astrid asks. “What does it look like I’m doing?” “Crossing off islands,” she retorts. “Why?” “Because I’ve already searched these islands.” “Searched for who?” “Stardancer.” “Wait a minute,” Hiccup says. “Slow down and start from the beginning. Who is Stardancer?” “My dragon. We got separated during the storm and I’ve been looking for her ever since. It’s been a little over a week and I’ve found no sign of her anywhere. Ordinarily she’d have found her way back to me by now, since she hasn’t I’m assuming she’s either hurt or captured. Either way I’m going to need your help if I find her.” “Why didn’t you say anything before?” Hiccup asks. “Force of habit. If I can do something on my own, I will.” “Did you consider the fact that she might have left?” Astrid asks. “Yes, actually I have,” I reply. “If that’s the case, that’s fine. I’ve never forced her to stay. However, seeing as she can be a mother hen from time to time, it’s unlikely. So, will you help me?” “Of course we will,” Hiccup says. “Everybody mount up. Sadie, are there any islands you haven’t searched yet?” “These three,” I say, pointing to the map. “I thought we could search these and if she’s not there, you might know where else to look.” Hiccup nods and mounts Toothless, I climb on behind him. Everyone else is already on their dragons so as soon as I’m settled we take off and the others follow suit. “How did you manage to get to all those islands,” Astrid asks after a few minutes of flying. “I have my ways,” I reply. She only scowls and falls silent again. We reach the first island minutes later. “Everybody spread out and look for any sign of a…” Hiccup pauses. “What kind of dragons is Stardancer, Sadie?” I smile. “You’ll know her when you see her. Just call her name, she’ll come looking.” Hiccup shrugs. “Alright then, you heard her.” The others spread out and begin calling for her as they go. Hiccup turns and follows me as I head off through the trees. “What if we don’t find her?” he asks. “We will find her,” I say, determined. “Or I will, eventually.” “Where are we going?” “I saw a stream over this way and seeing as a stream means fish–” “And fish means food, I get it,” Hiccup says with a grin. “I wasn’t born yesterday.” “Oh really?” I say innocently. “My mistake.” “Hey!” he exclaims, laughing. “Take that back!” “Uh…” I pretend to think it over. “Nope.” “Sadie!” I feel him come up behind me and then his arms wrap around my waist. “Take it back, or else.” “Or else what?” I smile, letting him pull me against him. “This,” he says, and starts tickling me. I burst out laughing and try to pull away. “Stop!” I gasp. “Hiccup!” “Take it back.” “Alright!” I exclaim, still laughing. “Alright. I take it back.” He stops and lets go. I quickly step away from him. “Not!” I exclaim and take off through the trees. “Sadie!” “Catch me if you can!” I call over my shoulder. I disappear into the brush as Hiccup starts after me. I hurry through the trees toward the stream, Hiccup following behind. At the stream I hide in some bushes and wait for him to arrive. When he steps out of the trees he goes to the stream’s edge, looking around for me. I smile and watch from my hiding place then suddenly let out a cry of surprise as I’m nudged from behind and stumble out into the open, trip over a rock and tumble into the stream with a splash. I hear Toothless chuckle in his usual way behind me as I surface and Hiccup joins him. “Gotcha,” he says as I roll over and sit up, the water nearly up to my chest I roll my eyes as he offers  his hand to help me up. I take it but instead of letting him help me up, I pull him into the stream beside me. He surfaces laughing. “I deserved that.” “Yes, you did,” I say as I stand and wade to shore. “Stardancer!” I scan the bank and the trees for any sign of my dragon. There’s nothing. We look for a while longer with no further results then rejoin the others, who haven’t found anything either. Hours later we’ve searched the other two islands and are on our way back to Berk. “Where is she?” I ask, frustrated and worried. “We’ll find her,” Hiccup says. “We just need to think through our next steps.” I sigh and rest my head on his shoulder. Then I see a flash of white out the corner of my eye. Down below us is a mass of ships with what looks like a Skrill crest on the sails. “What is that?” I ask. Hiccup follows my gaze and I feel him tense. “That’s Dagur,” he says. “Who is he?” “Dagur the Deranged is Chief of the Berserker tribe and also keeps trying to take over Berk.” I study his ships curiously, then in the front one I see a mass of black. “Can you fly down a little closer?” I ask. Hiccup does so and both of us gasp as we glimpse the Night Fury tied down in the bow. “Stardancer!” “A Night Fury?!” Hiccup exclaims. “Stardancer is a Night Fury?!” “Never mind that,” I say. “We have to do something!” “Ah brother,” a man suddenly says, looking for all the world like he was, in fact, deranged. “So glad you could join us. I was saving this little surprise for my next visit to Berk, but I guess there’s nothing wrong with now.” “You must be Dagur,” I say from behind Hiccup and his gaze flicks to me. The smile he sends me gives me chills. “Indeed I am,” he replies. “And who might you be, you rare flower?” I roll my eyes, falling back to my cold and uncaring attitude. “Doesn’t matter. Where did you find that dragon?” He studies my face for a moment. “Why does it matter to you?” “Because she belongs to me.” “Not anymore, she doesn’t.” I sigh and stand up on Toothless’s back. “Let her go.” His gaze hardens and he frowns. “No.” I shrug. “Have it your way.” Toothless is hovering close enough to the ship so I jump from his back, rolling as I hit the deck, drawing two knives as I jump to my feet. “Sadie!” Hiccup calls. “What are you doing?” “Getting my dragon back,” I reply easily, never taking my eyes off of Dagur. “Sadie,” Dagur says, drawing a sword. “Lovely name for a not so lovely girl.” I don’t say anything as he steps closer, leveling the sword at my chest, neither do I move. He takes another step toward me and I flip the knife over, catching it by the point. “Not another step,” I say coldly. He pauses, but only briefly before he rushes toward me, swinging his sword. As he reaches me I duck under the blade and step to one side, one leg outstretched, causing him to trip. The sound of a crossbow being fired reaches my ears and I roll toward Stardancer and get to my feet again, throwing my knife as I do so. The man my knife hits cries out and goes down, still alive. But not before I see his face. In my mind, I flash back to that night, when I watched Alvin kill my parents. There had been another man with him, one I didn’t recognize. But now, here, this was him. Older, but still him. “Sadie!” Hiccup’s voice yanks me from my flashback. “Look out!” Dagur was coming at me again, but more slowly this time, wary of my trick. I pull another knife and cross them together as he swings at me, blocking his stroke. Surprise flickers in his eyes and he steps back, studying me. This time I charge him, taking him by surprise. He swings at me again, I deflect his stroke with the knife knife in my left hand while I spin to the right, around and behind him, putting the knife in my right hand at his throat. “Drop it,” I hiss in his ear. I feel him tense and press the blade harder against his skin. “Now.” He throws it down angrily. “Tell your men to release my dragon.” “Never.” I press even harder, drawing blood. “Don’t think I won’t kill you, Dagur, because I will. Let her go.” He sighs. “Release the Night Fury.” His men hesitate. “Now!” he yells. Seconds later Stardancer is free and I shove Dagur forward, into his men as Stardancer grabs me in her claws and we fly off. Once we’re well enough away, she flips me up into the air, catching me on her back. I sheath my knives again and hug her. “Oh gods, I missed you,” I whisper. “Sadie, that was amazing!” Hiccup says, flying next to us. “How did you learn to do that?” “Lots and lots of practice,” I reply. “And a Night Fury!” He continues as though I hadn’t spoken. “You trained a Night Fury! Where did you find her?” “I found her one night in the woods during a storm. A branch had fallen on her wing, breaking it. I helped her out and she’s stuck with me ever since.” “How long have you had her?” “Almost a year.” “Amazing.” I smile and hug Stardancer again. “What happened back there?” Astrid says suddenly. “What do you mean?” I ask, straightening and turning to look at her. “You froze. Why?” “That’s none of your business,” I say coldly. “You froze right after you hit Savage,” Astrid says. “You’ve seen him before!” “Maybe I have, maybe I haven’t,” I snap. “What difference does it make?” “Savage used to work for Alvin,” she continues. “You didn’t know Dagur so that could only mean you saw Savage when he was working for Alvin!” I don’t reply. “Is that true, Sadie?” Hiccup asks. I stay quiet. “It is isn’t it?!” Astrid says. “How do we know you’re not working for Alvin too?!” I turn Stardancer around to face her and she stops, hovering in the air. “You want to know, fine,” I snap. “I only saw Savage once 7 years ago and I’ve hated him ever since! Satisfied?!” The other riders hover around us in shocked silence as Astrid and I glare at each other. I feel my throat clogging up and my eyes welling with tears, but I turn Stardancer back towards Berk and head off before anyone can see. “Sadie, wait!” Hiccup calls out. “Leave me alone, Hiccup!” The others quickly fall behind and I let the tears fall as I clutch the locket at my throat.

Hmm how about a hero x villain thing where hero realises villain is actually a good, caring parent?

Or something that has to do with telepathy?

I am out of ideas ;-;

Your writing is amazing though, keep it up and thank you so much for posting it!

🍫🍪🍰🌹🌷

What Are We, One Year from Now?

~~

“So… where have you been? It’s been a week since we last fought and— wait, you’re not avoiding me, are you?”

“Why are you here, exactly?” The villain stood on the front steps of their home, thoroughly annoyed by their unwelcomed guest. They held a stack of unopened letters in one hand, the other on the doorknob, a clear sign they wanted out of the conversation.

“You didn’t answer my question. Why are you avoiding me?”

“Wouldn’t it be easier just to take the answer from my brain?”

“Thought it would be better to ask first,” The hero gave them a small but genuine smile. “Figured I’d get more results that way then dealing with mental walls and making you angry.”

Villain wasn’t avoiding them per-say, they had just been a little busy. But they couldn’t say that out loud because well, if the hero asked what they were doing they couldn’t lie, Hero would know. Having a nemesis with telepathy really was the worst.

“I- Something came up.“

“For an entire week?”

“Y-Yes. Look, I’m not making plans or hiding out or anything. I should be back to doing my criminal deeds by the beginning of next week. But for now-”

“Daddy?”

A little child that couldn’t be any more than four years old appeared at the pair’s feet, wrapping her arm around the villan’s leg. The little girl looked up at Hero, rubbing the sleepiness out of her sapphire eyes. And for the first time since Hero met Villain, the criminal looked truly afraid.

“Yeah baby, you need something?” The villain crouched down to her level, the hero momentarily forgotten. His voice became laced a level of with care and concern Hero didn’t know was possible.

“My tummy still hurts daddy.” The girl coughed.

“I know baby. Do you want to try some soup? C’mon, I’ll go make you some.”

“What about— *cough*—what about them?”

The villain turned to Hero, his face a mix of pleading, concerned, and terrified at the same time. I’d never dare harm them, you know that

Villain seemed to relax slightly at the hero’s message, opening the door to let them pass into the house. Villain led the way to the kitchen, only pausing once to ask the child to go wake her brother. And she did, leaving the two adults in the kitchen alone.

Villain knew Hero would have a lot of questions for them. How old are they, is the home safe, who’s the mother, is she alive or dead, are they really his kids—

“Do they know?” Hero started softly.

Wow, out of all of the questions they could’ve asked... “No. If I can help it, they never will,” Villain grabbed a small pot and a can of chicken noodle soup. “Her brother starts school in a year, and I plan to be out of the villain life by then.”

“A year? You mean-”

“Yes. A year from now I will be a normal civilian living a normal life being a normal father. I’ll have a normal job and live in a normal house.” Villain’s vision blurred as the tears began. “A year from now you and I…”

Villain’s voice cracked and Hero’s heart wrenched in two. They knew him, Villain was giving up everything they’d ever known for these kids, even if he didn’t have to. “That doesn’t have to be true. I’m still here, we could work something out.”

“Like what? There’s no idea or plan I haven’t thought up where this ends well for us. It just-” And suddenly Hero was beside him, a finger hooked under his chin. His breathing nearly stopped at Hero’s sudden proximity. Villain wanted this. They wanted Hero to hold him in their arms and tell him it would be all right. To look him in the eye and he know it would turn out okay. But… they couldn’t do this to them. There was no situation where they could be together, not without putting someone in danger. They couldn’t do that to them.

It took a moment to register the arm snaking around his waist, pulling them closer, closer, closer, until their chests were touching. “What if,” The hero’s voice was a hushed whisper as they removed their finger from under Villain’s chin, bringing it up to their own face. To their mask. “I did this?” And with deliberate slowness, the mask came off.

The villain started when a high pitched gasp came from across the room. The noise was soon mixed with muffled giggles and the sound of small feet running. The villain turned just in time to see a little boy turning down the hall and out of view. Moments later his daughter appeared, all wide-eyed and excited, tentatively coming up to the pair. Her brother came up behind her, peeking over her shoulder shyly.

“Mx. Hero, —*cough*— aren’t you supposed to be in love with —*cough*— with Villain?”

“I was supposed to but… I fell in love with your dad instead.”

And Villain was sure the blush taking over his face was warmer than the soup cooking on the stove.

Hmm How About A Hero X Villain Thing Where Hero Realises Villain Is Actually A Good, Caring Parent?

I meant to post this yesterday sorry ;-;

So I Was Inspired By This Promt. I Think It Turned Out Alright, Lemme Know Of Yall Want More Or Not Because

Nothing truly mattered, that’s what they all had wrong. The hero’s, the civilians, even a few crazy villains. Each and everyone of them beloved that the world was made of different layers and every single thing they did mattered. They do bad things just to be remembered, and good things just to feel like they are better. It’s all wrong.

Tomorrow there will be nothing left of this place. In a few days the whole world will cease to exist. The only thing I regret is that I won’t be able to see it afterwords.

“Where is he”

“You’re too late, now please don’t try and force my hand,” my chest heaved as I sighed. Anticipating the hero moving towards me I quickly drew my leg up, skid to the side and jutted my leg back out into the hero’s side.

“I didn’t come alone.”

Suddenly my entire body lurched forward as the newest addition to this wild spat delivered their entering blow. Throwing my hands out in front of me I landed only to jump back up again. Looking behind me the first now stood with the second, looking like a chihuahua-bulldog duo. As my breathing evened I slowly stretched my hands out preparing for them to jump out so as to clap them with lightning. Only to be stopped as a dull pain entered my abdomen. My legs stuttered behind me as I looked down. A knife. A knife has put me on my knees. Damn now they have tested my limits.

“I could burn this city down and put you in the ground,” Pulling the knife out of my abdomen I held in tightly in my grasp as I slowly turned towards them. “Don’t. Fucking. Test. Me.”

“Oh yeah, I’ll have you back on your knees in a second, I’m sure it’ll feel better then when your lovely little villain does it,” bulldog looking hero teased as they cocked their head to the side, “was it their promise of nothingness, or the fact that they tied you to a bed that caused you to join their side?”

“You. Don’t. Know. ANYTHING!” Screaming I launched toward them swinging the blade towards their head only to have my arm pulled back by the first. Swiveling as I seethed. I lurched my arm out of their grasp throwing it back down right into their neck, watching as they looked at me with fear in their eyes.

“I said don’t test me, maybe you should have listened.”

Snippet #4.01

TW: description of wounds, use of medical equipment

Snippet #4.01

“As fascinated as I am watching you work with this kind of expertise, I am curious as to how you know to stich someone up so professionally. Do you work for Hero, or Superhero perhaps?”

’Twas but an awkward situation, that one. Supervillain had been in the process of fleeing leaving a fight downtown between a few of the city’s biggest and brightest supers on both sides. When they had taken to the air, they didn’t realize how bad their injuries had been. Their vision turned black within moments- and miraculously -Supervillain crash landed on a balcony instead of plummeting to their untimely demise. When they came to hours later, they had been brought indoors and set on a couch, apparently owned by this civilian.

The supervillain had been surprised. This person had an opportunity to do anything. Call the cops, flag down a hero, even unmask them. But they hadn’t. And since Supervillain considered themself as a slow-to-destruction kind of person, the civilian wouldn’t be killed on sight.

Then Supervillain noticed their injuries, treated and either bandaged or stitched, save one rather nasty gash over their ribs.

And it was only after that did they noticed the civilian crouched on the floor. Frozen in place, holding a string-like fiber and a hooked needle in their clutches. This civilian was not normal, that was for certain.

Said civilian, now, shrugged and continued their work. “I don’t work for any super in this city. Maybe once however, I was a super living in a different city. It would have been years ago, obviously. I would have learned how to use sutures to patch myself up because it was the only way I could survive, because there was no one I could go to for help,” They paused to look them in the eye.

Or maybe,” They tugged the thread a little too harshly, getting a hiss out of the supervillain. “I’m a paramedic who does this kind of procedure nearly every day, because ya’know, it’s my job.” They tied the last knot and set the hook-like needle down.

“Speaking of going to some one for help, stitches should come out in two weeks. I assume one of your villain friends can help you with that?” The civilian helped Supervillain to their feet before leaving them in favor of cleaning their equipment.

Supervillain didn’t acknowledge them as they made their way to the balcony, testing their flight abilities and then leaping off the fourteen-story balcony ledge. Today must’ve been their lucky day.
