Fake It Til We Make It

You were so sure that he would have accepted your feelings. Your body is hot with embarrassment and the gaze of everyone in the hallway. You feel absolutely idiotic right now, bent over holding out a confession letter even after he’s left.

You stand up despite wanting to curl into a ball on the floor and reflexively brush yourself off. You’re in shock and know you can’t cry, not in front of all these people. But the whispers from those who had witnessed your failed confession reach your ears, and you think maybe you will cry in front of them.

You turn to leave, the bell will ring soon, but someone is calling your name loud enough for the hallway to turn their heads. “Hey! (Y/n)!” He’s out of breath and heaving, having run through the crowded hallway to reach you. The ravenette grasps your hands and declares loudly, “I love you! Please go out with me!”

You look down at your hands enveloped in his and then up to his expectant stare with wide eyes. You recognize him. He’s in your class, Yoichi Isagi. Was he really interested in you? He whispers to you, “I’m trying to help you out. Just say yes.”

With a gasp, you seem to put the puzzle pieces together. Isagi is helping you save face. You smile, albeit warily, and respond, “Thank you, Isagi. I’m really flattered that you made such a declaration. I can’t say I return your sentiments, but I’m willing to try.”

He beams, glad that you took his help. “After class, I’ll take you to my favorite place, so please wait for me!” He replies loudly, so everyone can hear once again. You’re still shocked and confused but nod fervently to play along in his scheme.

Isagi walks you to your shared class and pulls out your chair at your desk for you. He tilts his head and gives you a close-eyed smile before he heads to his seat behind yours. As soon as he’s seated, you have people swarming your desk, all asking about your very eventful morning. The bell rings and silences their questions. You give them a brief smile and a helpless shrug as the teacher walks in.

Fake It Til We Make It

Lunch doesn’t come soon enough. Your classmates are starting to crowd your desk again. Isagi pushes through all of them, grabs your hand, and rushes out of the room with you in tow. You glance back to the door and see your classmates poking their heads out of the doorframe in an attempt to see where Isagi is taking you. He leads you to a staircase at the backside of the building, where only a few people are around.

He lets go of your hand and apologizes, “I’m so sorry. I grabbed your hand without thinking, but you looked uncomfortable earlier. Everyone asked about your morning, and they were going to just now, so I figured this would be better…” The soccer player looks away and blushes while reaching to scratch at his neck nervously.

You bite back a smile at how awkwardly adorable he is. “No, I appreciate it, and this morning too. It’s far less embarrassing since you ‘confessed’ to me,” doing the air quote gesture as you say confess. You don’t pay attention as Isagi turns away with a hand to his face to hide his growing blush. His confession may have been sudden, but it was undoubtedly genuine, not that you ever needed to know.

“Now I’m a little bit less of a loser,” you laugh at yourself before continuing, “You really don’t need to follow through with fake dating me. We can pretend to go on one date and then break up publicly.”

Oh. While Yoichi understood, he wanted to fake date you for just a little while. It would be the closest he would get to actually dating you. “It might be a little unrealistic if we break up so soon. After declaring my love for you, maybe 2 weeks is good? Plus, it will make that loser you confessed to look stupid for turning you down.” He can’t look at you in case you refuse his proposal. So he stabs the rolled omelets packed in his lunch.

“If you don’t mind, then I’m okay with that. I just don’t want to be a bother. I know the soccer team has some important games coming up.” You pick at your own lunch, now somehow nervous about him rejecting you after he had been the one to bring it up.

He wants to shout, you would never be a bother. But he composes himself, though hardly. “You should come to the games and practice. I think it would make it really seem like we’re dating.” Upon saying that, he realizes the many other things he’d like to do with you under the guise of dating. He stares blankly at his food as he imagines walking you home while he holds your hand.

You clap your hands, “We have to exchange numbers! Do you have your phone on you?” Isagi shakes his head. He had left his phone beyond to prioritize you and his lunch. You pull out your phone and open it to the contact before handing it over to him. “I’ll text you, so make sure you save my number.”

He enters his number and name before saving it. He hands it back, but he notices your frown. “Did I do something wrong?”

“I don’t think my boyfriend’s contact name should be just his name. Let me rename it.” You’re too focused to notice how he flushes at you calling him boyfriend. Yoichi waits as you tap your phone and then shove it in his face to show him. You’ve saved his name as ‘Yoi <3’, and he can see the text you’ve sent, ‘hi darling, it’s (y/n)! make sure you save my number’. He’s starting to wonder if you’re deliberately trying to kill him by being adorable.

“It’s almost time to go back, right?” Isagi asks you and stands before offering you a hand to get up. He smiles brightly down at you, and the thought crosses your mind that maybe you won’t mind fake dating him.

Fake It Til We Make It

It’s been maybe two weeks since you started ‘dating’ Yoichi, and you can say that it’s actually pretty fun. You wait for him after your club is done, or he’ll wait for you when he finishes early; his teammates tease him either way. He walks you to the train station and texts you for homework between the jokes he sends.

Today Isagi has another soccer game that places the team closer to Nationals. Even though he was the one that mentioned that you should come at the beginning of the fake dating, he always tells you that you can go home on the days that he has games.

But over the two weeks of watching his practice and the occasional game, you’ve come to like watching his games. You know nothing about soccer, but he answers your questions, taking time to explain everything and anything you want to know.

You don’t shout for him like the first time you came to one of his games (he ran head-on into one of his teammates and got subbed out soon after), and instead, just watch from the cold metal bleachers. Even during the halftime break, you let Yoichi be so he can focus on winning the game. You know he wants to take the team to Nationals. It’s been a frequent topic of discussion over text and after games when he walks you to the station, so you know just how important every game leading up to it is.

You wait for another 45 minutes as the second half plays out. The score has been tied and stays that way for most of the remaining half. You recognize the different strategies Isagi had pointed out during his practice, the triangle formation as he passes to his teammates and makes a run towards the goal. Seeing the ball rolls into the 18-yard box, you move to the edge of your seat. It’s the most promising chance you’ve seen during this second half as Isagi’s teammate notices the run Yoichi made and passes. Almost effortlessly, he’s able to score. The opposing goalkeeper’s vision is blocked by his defenders allowing Yoichi to shoot the ball right into the top corner.

You cheer, and immediately Yoichi’s head whips around to find you. He smiles and waves with both hands over his head before his teammates clamor around him. The team celebrates the goal and resets to fend off the opposing team as the clock ticks down. You’re not overly anxious about the game itself, but you’re itching for it to end so you can go down and congratulate Yoichi on his game-winning goal.

The referee signals the additional time in the match, and you make your way down the bleachers to reach Yoichi as soon as the game is called. The final whistle blows, and your school’s team rushes the field to celebrate being a win closer to Nationals.

You wait on the sideline for him, not in any hurry to break him away from the team. But he finds you, well, he’s been pushed over by his teammates. He’s sweaty, flushed, and heaving, but still, he has the energy to smile widely at you.

You mirror his smile, aware of the many eyes on you. “I think you’re teaching has been paying off because I can tell you did really good! Congrats on the goal too.”

His teammates ‘ooh’ at your words and make kissy sounds around you. Soon Yoichi is being pushed again so that he’s mere inches away from you as the surrounding members of the soccer team start to chant ‘kiss’. Yoichi tries to tell them off, making excuses that he’s sweaty and it would make for a bad first kiss between you two. The team is relentless though, and the few inches that had been granted before are taken away.

You’re pushed into him with no room to push away. Yoichi’s jersey is sticky with sweat, and his hair sticks to his forehead. He whispers a sorry before he places a hand on your face and kisses you.

His teammates go wild at the display of affection and finally break away to yell about Yoichi getting some. Little do they know there was no kiss.

Yoichi places his forehead on yours, noses almost touching, and sighs like he actually did kiss you. He moves the thumb that impeded your kiss to where his other fingers rest on your face. He whispers, “Sorry. I have to go, but wait for me, and I’ll walk you to the station.” He backs away and goes toward the bench to listen to his coach.

You stand, flustered, as you bring your hand to where Yoichi’s hand has been and feel how hot your cheeks are. But more than anything, you’re wishing he hadn’t put his thumb on your lips.

Fake It Til We Make It

True to his word, Yoichi walks you to the train station like he always does. He carries your bag and offers up his warm-up jacket since it’s dark, ever the gentleman. It’s a bit awkward on the walk to the station, neither of you wants to address the almost-kiss that happened.

But that doesn’t matter when you reach the train station. “I think we should ‘break up’.” He does air quotes around break up, much like you had when talking about his confession. “It’s been 2 weeks now. I think everyone’s forgotten what happened.”

Oh. This is why he didn’t kiss you.

You feel your stomach sink, but if this is what he wanted then you’d do it. “Oh! I didn’t realize it’d been 2 weeks already. If that’s what you want then sure we can end our pretend relationship.”

He doesn’t say anything, but hands you your bag. Before you grab it, you move to take off his jacket. “You can just give it to me tomorrow.” You stare at him, but he can’t meet your gaze. He stretches his arm further so you can take your bag, clearly, he wants to leave.

“Ok.” You take your bag and as soon as he can feel that you have it, he turns and leaves. Your relationship was fake, so why did it hurt so bad when he asked to break up?

Fake It Til We Make It

You go home, in his jacket, and wait for a text that never comes. Normally, Yoichi texts to make sure you’ve made it home but the screen doesn’t light up no matter how much you stare at it.

Yoichi’s jacket is draped over your desk chair, the sight of it makes you frown. There are lots of questions you have about what happened and why it happened the way it did, but it wasn’t real which somehow makes it so much worse.

You throw the jacket in the wash, so you can return it tomorrow. You check your phone again, but of course, there’s nothing.

Similarly, Yoichi stares at his phone, thumb hovering over the send button. The text he wants to send is a normal one, something he wouldn’t hesitate to send just yesterday.

The worst thing he thinks about him breaking up with you was the time and space you once occupied in the name of keeping up appearances would be void. Just a few hours later and he’s already missing you.

But Yoichi knew that continuing to fake date you was selfish of him. He’s not selfish, even on the field, but he wants to be. But he doesn’t want to keep you from pursuing someone you genuinely liked, that’s not fair. (Even though he hopes it would be him.)

Though the way you seemed surprised when he told you it had been two weeks, the way you had said ‘if that’s what you want’, even hesitating just slightly to take your bag from him, it meant something, right?

He groans and tosses his phone aside, trying to distract himself from overthinking the situation. He did not need to give himself false hopes and delusions that you were upset over this like he was.

Fake It Til We Make It

It’s the first time in two weeks that nobody greets you at the front gate. Yoichi is usually at the school early for morning practice and even when the team doesn’t he still arrives early to walk you to the shoe locker.

He’s not in his seat when you enter, so you leave a plastic bag with his folded jacket inside on top of his desk. He comes in unusually late, apologizing to the teacher several times and explaining there had been morning practice.

Some small optimistic part of you wants to think that maybe he would have walked you to the shoe locker had his practice not run late, but realistically you know he’s probably ready to run away like he had at the train station yesterday.

You put your head down on the desk and don’t pay attention to the lecturing of the teacher.

Fake It Til We Make It

You thought that habits took 30 days to form, so why did 2 stupid weeks affect you this much? It’s been 3 days of school now and you find yourself at every turn looking for Isagi.

When it's time for lunch you instinctively look back to find him so you can have lunch together, but he’s already out the door. You try to suppress the automatic urge you have to find Isagi any time there’s a second of free time in your schedule. But still, you somehow find yourself at the metal bleachers of the soccer field once again.

Once you fully register the automatic decisions your body has made you try to leave. It was awkward enough that Isagi made it a fairly obvious point to avoid you. The metal creaks every time you move, but you try moving slowly to avoid detection.

Luck is not on your side as their coach calls for a water break and the whole team turns to face the bleacher you are currently trying to leave. They all recognize you, after your ‘kiss’ they’d be stupid not to, and so they shout their greetings and call out Isagi for making you wait through the practice.

You sit back down and wave, there’s no way you can leave now. And you don’t want to cause Isagi trouble by having his teammates grill him on a nonexistent relationship. So you wait.

The sun begins to set and practice ends. You wait for Yoichi, so things don’t seem amiss to his teammates. He walks with you wordlessly to the train station like it’s a habit for him too. And you end up at the same spot you did just 4 days ago when he decided to ‘break up’ with you.

You want to apologize for making him walk you to the station, but the way he looks in the blazing orange light seems to make your mouth say all the words your mind is thinking. “I miss you. I miss your texts and greeting you in the morning. I miss eating lunch together. I miss being your friend.” As soon as you say it, you know friend is not the right word, but what is?

“I’m sorry, (Y/n), but I can’t be friends with you.” He leaves the ‘I want to be so much more’ unsaid.

You immediately jump to question him, “Why? Do you not feel this gaping hole of emptiness too?”

“What?” His eyebrows furrow in either shock or confusion, he certainly couldn’t say.

“I’m constantly feeling like I need you by my side. I look for you every single moment of spare time. I want to be close to you, I want to see you, I want to read your texts, and send you homework answers. I want you, Yoichi.” You take a staggered breath in and your heart beats loud in your ears. Oh, you know what word to use now. “Yoichi, I want you to be my boyfriend, for real this time.”

He stays silent longer than you would like, but you stay hopeful. Looking back at your fake relationship there was no way he didn’t reciprocate. All the things he had suggested in the name of appearances was proof enough for you.

“Really?” Is the only thing he asks. You nod vigorously now that you’ve figured out your feelings. A smile starts to make its way into his face, but he brings up a hand to cover it along with the growing blush. He squats and pumps his fist as he shouts, “Yes!”

You’re a bit shocked at his sudden reaction, but happy he’s reacting in such a positive manner. He stands back up again and places his hand on your shoulders. “Do you know how long I’ve liked you? I mean, god, (Y/n), this is-” He can’t even finish his sentence because he’s laughing and resting his head on your shoulder.

You brush your hand over the back of his head, smoothing over the hair. He holds onto the hand as his head snaps up. He looks at you with a soft expression, one you’re sure he did while you fake dated.

“Can I kiss you?” He gives you a lopsided smile before adding, “For real this time.” No doubt teasing you for earlier.

You roll your eyes and grab the collar of his jacket, pulling him close for you to whisper on his lips, “Kiss me.” And he does.

The next day he walks into school with your hand in his.

"That's Certain!" m.reo

"That's Certain!" M.reo

; in which you encourage your friend, reo, that he will win the world cup!

this is my first post here in Tumblr that’s about blue lock characters, i hope you guys enjoy this :]]

warning(s): grammatical errors might be present (english is not my first language), nothing much, maybe ooc reo for this one :]]

________________________________

“so, are you going to attend that special training thing?” reo picks up the envelope and glanced over you “you mean this? yeah, ‘was planning to join in with nagi. though, it looks kinda sketchy” he placed it back down on his drawer and turned his full attention towards you.

“ 'that so? i think it’ll be a great opportunity for you.. you like soccer right?” he hummed, eyeing every move you make as you were laying on his bed as if its yours “well, im going to test out me and nagi’s soccer in this training camp. don’t get me wrong, im already quite confident that we’re the best as what we currently are”

he walked over to where you’re at and sat on the side of the bed “my parents told me to give up on soccer.” he frowned “they want me to be the heir of their company and give up on my dreams."

even though your back was facing reo, you can feel that he’s upset. it was sort of rare for him to actually work hard to get what he wants.

since you guys were little, reo gets whatever he wants with a snap of a finger. he has been always served on a silver plate, so when his parents denied his desire to win the world cup, it made him upset. with this information in mind, you hummed

"you haven’t answered me, reo” he glanced at his shoulders “huh?”

“you like soccer, right?” reo nodded, even though you can’t see him

“then that settles it, you go to that training camp and come back with the world cup trophy in your hands” you stretched your arms and laid on your stomach “who cares what everyone says? you liking soccer should be enough to ensure your victory of getting that trophy!” you shifted comfortably on the bed, getting sleepy because of how soft it is.

“you’ll win the world cup, That’s Certain!"

the room fell silence. it wasn’t an uncomfortable silence, no. it was more of a calming silence if you put it that way. reo stared at the back of your head, eyes growing wide as he heard your little encouraging speech.

he grabbed on your shoulder and rolled you over until you were facing him

"reo?” you tiredly stared at his purple orbs, shoulder touching his hip as he looks at you.

“you really have an impact on me” he slowly smiled at you, placing a hand on your head to play with your hair. confused, you wondered why your body reacted weirdly because of this, you feel so warm and fuzzy under his oddly satisfying touch.

“ 'better stay adorable once i get back from this training, okay?” was the last thing you heard before dozing off

˚ʚtomioka giyuuɞ˚ | ˚ʚbefore the battleɞ˚

❥giyuu didn’t know how to respond to such a question. A world without demons? Half of him always remained hopeful, even if it didn’t seem like it. He wanted to believe muzan’s rein would come to and end. The other half couldn’t help but believe that something bad and irreversible would happen during the planned battle with Muzan. The one all the demon slayers had been preparing for.

♥“a world without demons seems peaceful. And it’d be even better with you by my side.” Giyuu muttered, answering your question. You felt his hand squeeze yours gently as the two of you continued laying comfortably in his estate, resting on a futon together as you played with his hair using your free hand.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. ˚ʚduring the battleɞ˚

❥giyuu had a horrible feeling before the battle. The two of you had accidentally parted ways while making your way into the infinity castle. Tomioka found himself going against upper three alongside tanjiro. You ended up going against upper two. Before you knew it, you found yourself pushing Kanao from getting killed by upper two. You took her place. Just as she was about to get killed, you took her place. Upper three had passed away soon after. Before he knew it, his kasugai crow came, announcing your death while protecting the insect Hashira’s young tsugoku. It was her you. You chose yourself.

♥he found himself frozen in place the moment your name fell out of the crows mouth. It hurt more than the wounds covering every last inch of his body. He did it yet again. He failed to protect another person he cared so deeply for. He failed to protect the love of his life. And he knew this horrible feeling wouldn’t just stay now, in the moment. He knew it would stick with him forever.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. ˚ʚa new lifeɞ˚

❥giyuu didn’t fully comprehend the feeling he felt whenever he saw you. You had simply been so beautiful. It sounded corny to say he was a teacher that fell for another teacher. But it was the truth. In fact, it had been love at first sight. Something he truly never believed in. Until he met you. He himself felt a deep connection to you. As if he had met you before. He knew it all must be silly, though.

♥even before he knew much about you, even when he had first met you, giyuu had felt he’d known you all his life. You had somehow felt the exact same way. Giyuu’s love for you only grew from there. Whenever he was with you he felt truly alive. He felt he’d have to protect you with his own life if anything were to happen to you. And he gladly would. Something felt wrong about you being in any danger. A feeling his past self knew all too well.

˚ʚiguro obanaiɞ˚ | ˚ʚbefore the battleɞ˚

❥obanai remains confused at your question. A world without demons had seemed like such a non-existent world despite him becoming a demon slayer to get rid of them. It all seemed unlikely. At least, he couldn’t see himself living in a world like that. Only if you were there with him would it then all make sense.

♥iguro soon found himself smiling under his mask at your enthusiastic face, thinking of a demon-less world yourself. The idea seemed foreign, sure, but it was worth believing. “I don’t care if demons exist or not. As long as you exist I’m fine.” Obanai finally replied after his long thought process. Your face turned a light shade of red at his words. You found yourself burying your face into the crook of his neck as he gently hugged you.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. ˚ʚduring the battleɞ˚

❥obanai and you fighting side by side was something the two of you had both grown used to. Neither of you at all believed it was the last time you would fight together. It was a deadly situation. But becoming a demon slayer meant sacrificing your life for others. And as a hashira, the statement held much more meaning. You didn’t want this to be the end. You wanted to leave happily with the serpent pillar in this lifetime, though that was obviously not going to happen. No matter how hard you wished.

♥obanai had a tight hold on your body. You had both been slowly slipping out of consciousness. You were both to die soon. Yet he held you with so much strength. He muttered apologies to you as tears flowed out of his eyes. Tear after tear. “my love . . . it’s not your fault. I’m glad that I can at least be in your arms one last time.” You could hear his choked sobs. You heard one last, “I love you” come from his mouth before you fell lifeless, him soon passing away as well.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. ˚ʚa new lifeɞ˚

❥obanai fell for you fast. And he hated it. He hated how much he loved and cared for you. Especially how protective he was with you. But you had been just the same. Obanai felt something around you he’d never felt with anyone else before. He felt as if he’s known you since forever. In reality, he first met you when he took the position as a teacher in the kimetsu high school. If anything, he wishes he met you sooner.

♥he doesn’t know why, but it’s holding you in his arms that he loves and enjoys the most. It feels phenomenal. And it’s the way you care for him he also enjoy. You never judge him for his mask, or his harsh personality. You treat him with such kindness. And some words you say to him feel so familiar, bringing an odd feeling to him. ❥sanemi had seen the question as foolish, even though he knew it wasn’t meant to be. The demon slayer corps was there to ensure the end of demons. But he soon noticed the unhopeful look in your eyes as the question slipped out or your mouth. “I’m sure we’ll kill Kibutsuji. Together.” Sanemi reassured you as you only gave him a nod.

♥no matter how much shinazugawa had assured you, that sinking feeling in your stomach wouldn’t leave. As a hashira, you were e tasked with helping other demon slayers train. You didn’t mind it at all until slowly, the demon slayers began bringing up the battle with Muzan more often. Every time the battle was mentioned, your stomach sank and your mood dropped. But you didn’t understand why. Sanemi told you everything was going to be okay. So you tried to remain hopeful.

❥sanemi had lost his little brother. You and Genya had been the only two people he had left. And yet Genya had died. And it broke his heart. But he made sure he would find you and let nothing bad happen to you. His Kasugai crow was nowhere to be seen so he didn’t receive any news about you. In a way, it didn’t matter. He was too late but he didn’t know that.

♥they had defeated muzan. They saved Tanjiro. And although sanemi hadn’t seen you since you both had parted ways to fight different opponents, he still searched frantically for you, expecting for you to show up. But you didn’t. Tears brimmed his eyes but he refused to accept it. Until he felt a hand on his left shoulder. He turned his head in that direction and saw Giyuu, who silently crying while shaking his head. You had fought by giyuu. But you had suffered with multiple injuries after taking the fall so many times. It resulted in blood loss.

❥sanemi, when he first met you, felt as if he had been complete. Like a missing part of him had been restored. He didn’t know what the feeling was and he didn’t know how to explain it. It was as if something that had been taken from him was given back and presented right in front of him. He had fallen for you. And he had fallen hard. It seemed unusual for such a person like himself to suffer from love at first sight. Yet it happened. But it didn’t matter. You loved him just as he loved you.

♥you had an affect on him that he didn’t at all understand. That in reality, no one understood. And he didn’t ever want to lose you. Not again.

You smiled back at him.

♥the mist pillar soon found his hand make its way towards your own. You gladly held his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. It wasn’t worth over thinking the upcoming battle with muzan. ❥muichiro certainly didn’t expect to encounter upper moon one. Yet there he was, fighting by your side, just the two of you. It seemed hopeless. You were both covered with fatal injuries. Even when Genya had came to help, nothing seemed to work. Before you knew it, the stone pillar and the wind pillar came as well. But it was too late. Both you and Muichiro were sitting together on the floor as he hugged you tightly, knowing you would die before him. He didn’t want this to happen. He was fine with dying. But he didn’t want you to die.

♥you had begun crying while in his arms as the other three continued fighting. Muichiro repeatedly muttered about how much he loved you, his hold on you getting tighter by the second. “I’ll adore you and cherish you forever, y/n. Just as I did in this life. He didn’t often cling to others. But then he met you and found himself by your side all the time, no matter what.

♥with only a few days of knowing you, he fell for you. Surprisingly even his brother found himself growing fond of your company. He enjoyed how happy you made Muichiro. Muichiro being with you was a drastic change. Like a lost puppy following you every single place you go, and not at all wanting you to be away from you. He kept his promise. He’ll love you in every life he lives.

“𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞” (Rin Itoshi)

-> comforting your boyfriend after he stared a little too hard in the mirror (978 words)

I read in rin’s “day in a life” that he hates his face because it resembles his brother’s and ran with it :>

Reverse comfort, insecurities (rin), sae is shit talked here what a shocker, cursing, abandonment issues, implied artist reader, itoshi rin needs a hug

 (Rin Itoshi)

“I hate them.”

“I think they’re pretty, Rin.”

The Itoshi brothers hardly bared any resemblance to each other when it came to looks. The elder, Sae, had red hair on the messier side, with slicked back bangs and a slim build. The younger, Rin, had dark flat hair, bangs kept down and a slim build with more prominent muscles.

The one feature they had in common? Their eyes. Bright blue eyes with prominent under lashes.

Rin hated his eyes.

“They look just like his, don’t you see?” Rin grumbled as he walked away from the full length mirror in the room’s corner.

“All I see are my boyfriend’s pretty eyes, no one else’s.” You countered. Rin merely rolled his eyes in response. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe you only saw his eyes, it was that he couldn’t see them as his.

No matter how hard he tried, he could only see his eyes as Sae’s eyes. He was the older brother, so they were his first.

It was just another trait that tied him to Sae, that’s all they’ve been since the night of their argument.

“Come on Rin, talk to me. You know I’ll always listen.” You patted the spot next to you on the mattress. Usually, Rin would be doing yoga by now. But tonight was different, he couldn’t concentrate on it.

He pondered for a moment. Averting his eyes from the rolled up yoga mat, to you, back to the yoga mat, and to you, again. He wasn’t thinking, he was only seeing. And what he saw were two very different distractions from the aching feeling in his chest.

One would train his body and mind, but it’d only fill his thoughts with getting better at soccer- being better than his brother. Someone he wanted to forget about more than anything right now.

And the other would put his mind at ease- his soul at ease.

It wasn’t a competition to begin with.

You noticed the way Rin’s face softened, shoulders dropping when his eyes met yours again. “There there… you can come here and relax now, Rinnie.”

He crawled into the spot next to you before turning over to face you, burying his face in the crook of your neck. His breath tickled, but that was the last thing you cared about right now.

“I wish he never left for Spain-“ his voice cracks. “things would be better. Everything would be better, easier.” You feel his jaw clench and tremble, he sharply inhaled.

“It’s okay to cry… I won’t judge or tell anyone.” Your words were all he needed to let go. Before either of you knew it, hot tears were streaming down his face, landing against your skin.

"Even if I beat him, would he still acknowledge me?" His voice cracked again, your heart cracking along with it. But you wouldn't tell him that in a million years.

Itoshi Rin hated showing any signs of weakness. He hated being vulnerable.

For him to be breaking down in front of you? It took all the trust and faith in you he had. You both knew that. The last thing you wanted to do was to make him feel guilty for letting everything he bottled up out.

But you did want him to feel the care you had for him.

"If your brother won't acknowledge you even after you prove how much more skilled you are than him, then at that point... it's on him." Rin's eyes looked up at yours, checking your features to tell how sincere you were being. "It's on him for missing out on having such a talented younger brother." You concluded.

"I want things to go back to the way they were... and I wanna be able to look into the mirror without hating everything about my face." The last part shocked you a bit. You always knew Rin was insecure about his face, but he'd only ever talk about hating his eyes the most. To hear him admit he hates his entire face...

"Rin, Look at me."

"Huh?"

"Look at me."

Rin lifted his head from the crook of your neck, looking you dead in the eyes. "Looking..."

You cupped his cheeks, swiping your thumbs over his tears to wipe them away. A faint pink hue dusted his cheeks at the intimacy, but he didn't mind. Not this time, at least. He lifted his hand up to lay atop yours over his cheek.

He worried if he let go, the moment would end, and you'd be gone.

"I think of your face whenever I'm sketching, painting, anything. You're my muse, Rin. I don't see beauty in any of my art without you as my inspiration." Your tone was sweet and gentle, the opposite of what he's used to when speaking to anyone.

"Your jawline is perfect... just like your nose, lips, everything." You traced a thumb over his lips, never letting go of his face. "And your eyes... your eyes are the most beautiful pair I've ever seen in my life. And your eyelashes are just so pretty."

By now, tears were spilling out the corner of Rin's eyes again. Never in his whole life has he felt so... loved. And just like before, you wiped his tears away with a soft smile on your face.

"I... I love you. I love you so much." He choked out.

"I love you even more, Rinnie."You giggled.

"I still think I love you more, though."

"Alright, we aren't doing this tonight. You know I love you more."

Rin smiled. The sight of him smiling was enough to make your face break out into a grin. You pulled him closer, holding him tight against your torso as he found comfort in the crook of your neck once again.

That night he fell asleep happy with himself for skipping his nightly workout.

a fic for a trade with the lovely @saenora <33

cw: 2.5k words, gn!reader, hurt comfort, sae is pretty rude (to reader), mild descriptions of violence, there's a failed assassination but no blood or serious injury

Stardance - Prince!sae X Knight!reader

When the palace walls and king’s carriages proved at last too confining for the eldest prince of the Itoshi family, Sae was assigned a knight of his own. A soldier to fend off the creatures of the forests; to discourage burglars with a glare and blade; to guard a door in a palace so thoroughly guarded that at times even visitors struggled to enter. In his mind, his guard was an excessive layer of protection for an already coddled son, another attempt to shelter him from the kingdom he would one day come to rule.

But mostly, his guard was a nuisance.

“With all due respect, your highness, just how long do you plan to look through these historical tomes that - if I may remind you - your father’s library already has.”

At the mere sound of your voice, he stopped flipping through the large volume in front of him. It wasn’t the one he wanted anyways, and neither were the twenty others the bookshop owner had presented him with. An honor to help the prince with his studies? Hah. If only the fools had what I needed. With a frustrated sigh, he motioned to leave in search of yet another shop.

“I’ll look until one of these shops has what I need.” He hardly looked back as he began making his way to the next bookstore. Technically, he was supposed to let you walk in front, parting the crowds around their crown, but in the near-empty twilight streets, he set a pace brisk enough to discourage anyone wishing to follow him, his guard included. For a moment, as the stars began to rise, he could forget.

Though peace of mind could never never last long. “Your Highness, it’s too late for you to be out. You know as well as I do that your father doesn’t like you being out in the city late, especially not on some wild goose chase for a history book that might not even exist.”

Sae knew that he should be returning to the palace. But in those grand halls, he couldn’t forget, not even for a moment. It was always someone or someone else pestering about something he couldn’t bring himself to care about. Courtship. Parties. Foreign gossip. Meaningless awards. Petty disputes between lords. His brother. His blasted annoying guard.

“Really, your highness, what even is it that you’re looking for?” You continued, beginning to get impatient. “Primary sources from the Cretaceous period? Because, I hate to break it to you, but crabs can’t write.”

Against his better judgment, Sae nearly chuckled at that remark. Nearly.

Stardance - Prince!sae X Knight!reader

At this point, you didn’t know if Sae genuinely hated you or if his tendency towards bitter words was an overdramatized facade. Though whichever it was, it was slowly slipping further toward loathing as you urged him out of the library. It was a war of his stubbornness against your orders, and though the king’s own word should always win, it never seemed to.

Worn down by tiredness and the convoluted organization of his father’s library, Sae snapped. Once more you tried to convince him to leave and he turned sharply to face you, eyes darkened. Whatever curious stars had once been behind them had died out, leaving only the aquamarine void.

“Just leave me.”

So this is how he’s playing this. You pulled out his chair, a not-so-subtle sign that it was time to leave, regardless of what he thought. “Your Highness, I’m strictly forbidden from leaving you. I’ll escort you to your room now.”

“I’ll get to my room on my own,” He muttered, waving you off, “One of the sentries can take me if they see me.”

“Sae. You’ve had a long night, it’s time for you to sleep. You can find your books on a clear head in the morning.” There was a certain firmness in your voice this time - you weren’t about to let him ignore you, regardless of the fact that he was above you in rank and had no obligation to listen to you.

“Don’t call me that.”

“What, your name? I don’t answer to you, I’ll call you whatever I like.”

“I outrank you, remember. I don’t care if my father ordered you to make me rest, you answer to me, not him.” He refused to turn to you, gripping white-knuckled on the arms of his chair. If he squeezed them any harder, they might break. A normal soldier would stop provoking him now - you should stop provoking him now - but there was no point in shoving the frustration down any further. Sae was insolent, stubborn, lived on his own time, and wouldn’t take care of himself. But you would protect him. You swore so on your life and honor.

“They’re not his orders.”

“Then whose are they?” He seethed, turning to look you in the eyes. Though he couldn’t see your face in the dim light, Sae was sure you were grinning smugly, taking some sick satisfaction in watching him snap.

“Mine.” You stated plainly.

“Blasted nuisance,” Sae huffed, “You have no authority to give yourself orders. Leave.”

Suddenly he found himself being pulled by the arm, yanked up and out of his chair by a uniformed hand. Electricity prickled down his spine as he was forced to his feet. “I have plenty of authority to care about you and want you to take care of yourself because I know you wouldn’t otherwise. With that said, I will be escorting you to your room.”

Without sparing even a moment, you began pulling Sae toward the door. Your grip was far from rough - he could escape easily if he felt like it - but he saw no reason to struggle. He had hardly noticed the fatigue seeping into his body, sapping his strength as the night grew late.

Stardance - Prince!sae X Knight!reader

Sae’s knight was an inevitability. A constant. Guaranteed to be somewhere in the vicinity, be it hovering at his shoulder or stationed at a doorway just out of sight. Even as he reclined in his barely lit sitting room, there was no mistaking the uniformed figure lurking in the shadows near the tightly bolted door.

“Aren’t I safe enough in here? You can leave,” He waved you off halfheartedly, “Get some of that sleep you’ve been hounding me incessantly about.”

Your laugh floated over from the dark corner. At least someone had the energy for humor at this hour. “Believe me, if I weren’t under direct orders to stay here until Kento comes to replace me, I’d be comfortably cuddled up in my bed. Like you should be right now.”

With a sigh, Sae stood from his reading chair and made his way to his bed. He was hardly tired, but pretending to sleep would at least give you peace of mind. The last thing he needed was yet another person overly concerned about his safety, especially not one who was only concerned because it was their job.

Or was it?

I have plenty of authority to care about you.

Your words echoed in his mind. That hadn’t been on his father’s orders – none of the insistence that Sae cared for himself had been. It was, startlingly, the first time that concern for his safety had extended past duels and burglars and-

“ASSASSIN!!!”

Sae turned his head sharply, watching as a badly illuminated figure entered his room from the moonlit balcony, empty glass bottle in hand. His heart stopped in his chest. His feet wouldn’t move. He urged himself to run, to make his way to safety, to make his way toward you. The most he could do was turn and watch you as you charged.

The assassin stepped up behind him. The bottle came crashing down.

The last thing he registered was you running toward him, sword drawn, radiant like starlight incarnate.

Stardance - Prince!sae X Knight!reader

“Good morning, your highness. How’d you sleep?”

Of course, the first thing Sae would hear after coming to consciousness would be his knight’s voice. Classic.

“What… what happened?” At some point, he’d been moved from the floor to his bed, and the lack of light from outdoors meant it was still night. The only people in the room, as far as he could tell, were him and the knight.

The knight chuckled. Someone ought to teach them that assassination is not a laughing matter.

“Well, some fool managed to climb up your balcony and hit you over the head with an empty liquor bottle. He got you pretty good, but at least you didn’t get cut by the glass shards. The doc said you’ll be fine in a day or two.” Somewhere across the room, your uniform rustled as you stood to leave, satisfied to know that Sae was alright. “Well, I’ll be going now. Kento, Miroku, and Tatsuki are outside if you need anything, but I’ll hopefully be back before you wake up. Get some sleep, you’ll need it.”

As Sae watched you retreat, he felt the sudden urge to reach out toward you; to thank you for saving his life yet again; to savor your company just a little longer. All that escaped his lips was a croaked, “Don’t-”

“Huh?” You turned, “Don’t what? You’ve gotta be specific if you’re giving me orders.”

Struggling for words, Sae sputtered, not entirely sure what he wanted. Don’t hate me? Don’t abandon me? Don’t resign from your post and never return?  “Leave.”

You sighed, turning back again. “Being evasive, I see. Good to know you’re back to normal. Goodnight, your highness.”

“Wait- No- Don’t leave. Stay. Please.” Sae didn’t realize, but he was reaching toward you with his hand as if trying to pull you back toward him. But of course, you were across the room, and  his fingers couldn’t find purchase.

“Your Highness, you’ll be perfectly safe, I promise. There are two guards outside and one on the balcony… I can tell Kento to come inside if that would make you feel safer.” It pained Sae how you didn’t look him in the eyes as you spoke – you hardly turned to face him. But that was about the treatment he deserved, considering how he had treated you, pushing you away and still expecting you to save his life.

“It’s not- Stay, Y/n, please. I- It’s nice. Having you around.” He begged, voice breaking. He cursed himself for sounding so foolish, so unnecessarily vulnerable. You were his guard, nothing more.

Oh, how he wished it was more.

“Oh. I guess… I guess I could stay,” You murmur, striding back toward him, “For what it’s worth, you’re not half-bad of a guy to guard. Following you around all day is pretty fun… even when you’re mad at me.”

Sae groaned, wanting nothing more than to hide under his bedsheets. Half the time when he snapped at you it was just to provoke a clever quip or witty insult from you who never seemed to care, and the other half the time, when he stepped too far, his stubbornness left the apologies aching in his chest.

“I’m not mad. Not usually,” He muttered, not entirely sure if you could hear or not. Sae assumed not, from the way you settled into one of his sitting chairs, leaning your sword belt against the arm.

No, don’t sit there- The words were on the tip of his tongue, but you spoke first.

“I’ll sit here as long as you want, but you should get to sleep. Let me know if you need anything, alright? I’ll do my best to not doze off.”

“There is one thing,” Sae said, internally shuddering at how foolish his request seemed. But it was you, and you wouldn’t make fun of it… right?

You chuckled. “Spit it out before I fall asleep. This chair is ridiculously comfortable.”

“Come sleep with me. Propriety be damned.”

You looked at him incredulously, not believing the words that exited his mouth. A sentence you had long given up on hearing. But the response that forms bypasses that yearning entirely.

“Aww, does His Royal Grumpiness get cuddly when he’s concussed?”

He sighed and scowled – though the snarky reply made his heart skip a beat. “Shut it, Y/n. I’m serious. I’d like to be close to you.”

“As you wish, Sae,” You smiled, taking off your uniform coat and discarding it on the same chair that your sword leaned against. Sae watched you intensely as you removed your shoes and climbed into the soft, powder blue sheets. He’s quick to wrap his arms around you, drinking in the warmth of your skin.

If only for a night, you could be his. You were his. And he was yours. By the witness of the stars. His troubled soul was held in the comfort of another, melting into the tenderness of an embrace outside of the reach of prying eyes. For the first time in far too long, the tension left the prince’s muscles, eased out by the soft breathing of his knight, his friend, his beloved.

In the silent depths of night, sweet words were whispered in dulcet tones.

“I love you.”

Bonus: Two Weeks Later

Exactly two weeks after the ridiculous attempt on Prince Sae’s life, Aiku – Captain of the King’s Guard and your somewhat-direct superior – summoned you into his office.

Not pleased to be away from your job for too long, you intended to make this quick.

“Let me guess, you need help training new recruits? Because if that’s what you want, I can’t do it. I’m with Sae full time now,” You said, standing in the doorway. Aiku looked at you from where he leaned against his desk, letting out a soft chuckle.

“Familiar with His Royal Highness, are you?” The Captain asked, smirking, “Well, therein lies the problem.”

You furrowed your brow, not entirely understanding what he meant. “And how is that an issue? You’re plenty familiar with His Majesty the King, why should I not be the same with the man I guard?”

“It’s not quite the same. Rumors are spreading, you know, and if things continue like this then you might be reassigned.”

“Really? Why? I keep Sae perfectly safe, no?” Captain Aiku stepped toward you, straightened posture making him seem unnervingly tall. He lowered his voice, as if worried someone would overhear. “Listen, Y/n. Let me put it this way: If the king catches you and his son making bedroom eyes at each other one more time he will replace you. The rest of us on the guard don’t exactly appreciate it either.”

Suddenly a gentle wrapped around your waist, the newcomer’s chest pressed comfortingly against your back. You didn’t have to turn around to know that Sae had come to intervene, tugging you gently away from the Captain.

“Sorry to interrupt, Captain, but I will look at my knight however I please. If my father chooses to reassign Y/n, I will deal with him myself.”

This is getting me back to my aib era

I come to your aid, my dear writer!

an idea would be an adhd!gn!reader that always manages to survive, but no one understands how.

they get distracted easily, can't concentrate for too long when someone is explaining the plan, and start wandering off to explore, etc.

everyone think they survive only thanks to the rest of the group

but chishiya is the only one who sees the truth (reader finds important clues at early stages of the game while wandering off, they try to explain what they believe is the right answer (normally being the right answer) but no one manages to understand what they mean because reader doesn't explain their full thought process or forgets to add context, asking simple questions out of curiosity and sometimes helping the group realise stuff, their previous fixations on random hobbies being useful, etc)

also, the reader is usually calm and unbothered about the situation, always in a good mood

people underestimate them a lot

I Come To Your Aid, My Dear Writer!

gn reader with adhd x Alice In Borderland

It was time to play another game, you had only two days left on your visa which left you with no other choice. Hatter teamed you up with Kuina and Chishiya, something that made you feel safer. You drove to the location of your assigned game, a mansion in the Aoyama area, one of the wealthiest in Tokyo. You enter the entrance hall and each grab a phone off the table. In the room are two other players waiting for the game to start. A man fitting the aesthetic of the area, wearing an expensive watch and an even more expensive-looking suit is tapping his foot impatiently on the marble floor. And a posh older woman who could easily be your grandmother, fidgeting with her pearl necklace.

Chishiya immediately starts analyzing the people and the room while Kuina greets the other players. The registration closes and an arrow appears pointing to an opening door, everyone hurries inside and the door closes behind you. On your phones appear the ace of clubs and a voice starts explaining the rules. “Game: escape room. Find clues and get out of the room in time.” You laugh “An ace? We’re definitely gonna ace this” you look at your friends to see if they got your joke, Chishiya rolls his eyes while Kuina snorts. They got used to your humor by now but you never skip the opportunity to make a cheesy joke to lighten the mood.

“Thirty minutes left.” You look up at Chishiya as he begins speaking: “Okay, the room is big so let’s split up to cover the ground faster. Share everything…” You look around the room as your attention is pulled to a big bookcase. You tilt your head to read the titles. “I loved this book, ooh, Kuina you will really like this one!” “... and lastly we need a code to open that door.” Chishiya ends his little instruction talk. Everyone splits up to look for clues, the room is basically a large living room. Decorated with lavish couches and baroque art. After scanning the shelf with books you notice an aquarium with a small turtle. You smile as you watch it move, becoming hypnotized by the cute animal.

Meanwhile, the others were searching frantically for the key that would open a box. You got taken out of your trance when someone yanked you backward. “Search the fucking key you idiot” the posh asshole swears as he grips the front of your shirt. Immediately Chishiya and Kuina come to your aid. “Look violence isn’t gonna solve this game, so leave him alone” Kuina speaks. The guy lets go of you and points at the box, “We need a key to open it, search for it.“ You take it from Chishiya’s hands and examine it. It’s a wooden box, decorated with flowers, one flower stands out, a carnation. “Hey, Kuina did you know that a green carnation used to be a symbol to show that you were queer. It was popularized by…” You rush to the bookshelf as the others stand in confusion, your fingers trace the names of authors until you find the one you’re looking for: Oscar Wilde. You take it off the shelf and read the title. “The Picture Of Dorian Gray” you exclaim “I loved this book! The way Wilde portrays the dark side of humanity…” “Y/N!” Kuina signals. “Oops sorry. Does anyone have a knife?” “I do” the old woman proclaims while waving her purse in the air. She pulls the knife out of it but hesitates to hand it over. “What are you going to…” Chishiya snatches it from her before she’s able to finish her sentence. “Just trust them.”

He gives you the knife and you walk determined towards the portrait hanging above the fireplace and slash it. Behind the canvas a key appears, you grab it and toss it at Kuina who opens the box. “Ten minutes left.” The box contains a riddle that gets rapidly solved by Chishiya, the riddle leads to another clue. It keeps on going like this and it looks like you were almost there. You slowly gravitate back to the turtle.

“Five minutes left” the voice chimes. Behind you, the others cheer because they found the final code. You join them as Chishiya types it in. The door opens but you were met with another one. A sorrowful sigh left the older lady and the man punches the wall. The door was beautiful, so would have been escaping but you could just as well admire the craftwork that went into making the door. Beautiful curves, leaves, a turtle. A turtle. “One minute left.” You reach for the wooden turtle and start pushing it. It moved. You copy the unusual trail of the actual turtle, which had made you so interested in it in the first place: a triangle.

The door opens and everyone leaps through just in time before the floor collapses. You look at your friends in shock before grinning widely. “I fucking love you y/n” Kuina sighs as she pulls you into a hug, Chishiya pats your back “Well done.”

notes: I hope you enjoyed it! it was fun writing a reader with adhd and putting some of my own special interests in it ;) (queer history)
