so we do art-request streams, and there's a 'CatCF: Chat's Choice' option in the freebies. What this entails, is chat all voting for who they want to see drawn...
shoutout to the time they straight-up majority voted 'Violet & Veruca, but make it gay'. Of which our system's Vi hijacked to draw something nice for our Veruca.
A little context: Vi's been in our system for about two actual decades, Veruca a little less than that. They've both since grown up since, and their purposes have unfortunately caused them to grow apart. Veruca's recently been deep inner world looking after her heavily traumatised father, so this... is actually an incredibly lovely thing to do, as they can't spend much time together.

'the Personifications' - Alice // Death - Concepts
'There's nothing like dying, and finding out that Death is a 'child' with the emotional range of a stressed & done 35 year old...
who also looks suspiciously like she came straight from Wonderland.'
we are so behind on finishing the unreleased personifications. Death, Smell, & Touch are all pretty far in their concept stage, we just haven't had the time nor energy to work on them.
chat, finally choosing 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory fanart' during a request stream, of which they could have voted on any character:

chooses toothpaste wonka
i hate them sometimes
Perhaps a controversial opinion, but having finally drawn the West-End Oompa Loompa...
Not a fan of the design that much.
The actual FX of the outfits are fantastic- that's such a Great way to get around the height issue- but their actual designs don't really stand out in a way you'd expect from an Oompa Loompa. 1971? Iconic. 2005? Very memorable. Musical? honestly quite forgettable. The same goes for the book too: despite CatCF being our lifetime special interest, I had to google it to remember what they looked like.
The musical feels like it tried to keep its designs closer to the book, but... maybe it shouldn't have? We love Quentin Blake's illustrations- an English treasure is he- but other than Willy Wonka himself, none of his CatCF designs are that memorable.
It might just be an unpopular personal opinion- although we did specialise in character design/concept art during our art degree, if that gives us any credibility- but sometimes, when the source material is lacking, it's better to diverge and play about and be inventive, than glue yourself to the idea of faithfulness.

'the Personifications' - 'the Collection' Concepts
'Like moths to light, the Carousel Casino lures in the most powerful members of society: those who have it all, yet crave so much more.
They often find themselves surprised, intrigued, by what greets them: a colourless domain of shapes, patterns, and staff all dressed up in twisted, Venetian-esque costumes...
It's not until they catch her eye- Fortuna, Lady Luck- that they realise just exactly where people keep disappearing to.
Well, should they lose the gamble, that is.'
The psychological horror side of the Personifications is something so dear to our heart, and god is it so fun to design. Fortuna's 'Collection': a reminder that the Personifications are still Gods no matter what they look like.
