༄ MISSION: OUR SUMMER― HOT TO GO!

𝜗𝜚 ―C.YEONJUN 【연준】 VERSION

"REALLY JUNNIE? on a monday?"

"it'll set the mood! for summer, baby!"

yeonjun always had the craziest antics. but this time, it was almost insane. a beach date?! on a monday?! but what bewildered you the most is not the fact it was a monday morning, not the fact that not even 20 minutes ago you were peacefully in bed, but the absolutely gorgeous edge of the most beautiful coast you have ever laid your eyes on. it looked like a haven that people could call home, a tropical paradise in a season of cool summer.

this summer's morning, you were sprawled out on your shared bed alongside your lover. the whirrs of the fan had drifted the salty sea air outside to float into your room. before you could barely open your eyes, your clumsy boyfriend had dropped the mini cooler from your cabinet causing a loud thud that made your sleepy body jolt.

“oh sh- sorry baby.”

then, you found yourself dragged out of your own cool home to find your bare feet under the warm sand. its light, and isn’t crispy. it doesn’t sting, it isn’t scorching. just the way you like it. the quiet calls of seagulls, the salt lingering in the air and the small waves of water crashing into the shore brought your soul to ease.

life barely stirs, and simple conversation could be heard meters away. the grasp yeonjun had on your palm was still strong, yet holding you like porcelain. as much of a hassle it all was, all of your worries had simply floated away from the sweetness of his words and gentleness of his touch.

“this.. this is beautiful.” you manage to mutter, lips agape, still in awe of the sight she beholds.

“doesn’t compare to you, though.” yeonjun teases, looking over his shoulder over to you.

opal teal ripples glisten under the warm sun, the line of the sunrise so fine as if you could touch the ends of the earth. wispy clouds sprinkled across the sky. the sun hung low in its graceful sky, painted with warm tones and hues of marigold and honey orange.

yeonjun's hand tugs yours, snapping out of your hazy daze. "the changing rooms are riiiiight there." he points.

the hazy daze and morning brain is definitely not a good combo, as the waddle towards the changing rooms was definitely not a straight line.

"hey babe! i think you could take me HOT TO GO! look at how sexy i look." he exclaims, striking a confident pose (as he should!).

you smile back at him, because he was not wrong. like, at all.

every moment under the water felt like a fever dream, your spatial awareness having a malfunction. every frame felt like a scene out of a honey sweet teenage romance film, or the beach arc of a slice of life anime. the warm colours intertwine like flowers in a garden.

suddenly you feel a cold sensation all over your back, scattered all over your body. yeonjun had lightly splashed you with water, but that obviously wouldn't end well.

so why not have fun while you're here?

you are left absolutely breathless, both of you practically soaked in the waters that you had admired in your bewilderment earlier. everything felt so sweet, and he comes closer towards you. he places his slightly pruney hands on your hips. your breath hitches from the sudden proximity and uncontrollable giggle fits. you let out a warm, shared giggle as your foreheads press together. the waters waist deep, ripples sitting on top of your waist.

a cold breeze kisses your cheek in the midst of the morning heat, beads of water drip down his raven locks, cheeks rosy underneath a blossoming sun.

to you, his smile was like cold ice-tea. to him, you were his everything.

he presses his plush lips onto yours, gently giggling as he uses one hand to guide your jaw, leaning into the kiss once more.

you find yourself laid down on a soft beach towel, underneath a warm beach umbrella. yeonjun pushes it in a direction where it could cover you from the sun more, protecting you from the heat of the sun.

“gettin’ the rest you deserve, huh?”

yeonjun whispers, pushing your beachy hair back, pressing a kiss with his plush lips to the crown of your hair. still in the process of stirring awake, she accepts his affection and melts into his touch, basically sinking into the sand.

"i love you."

𖧷 it feels like just yesterday you were studying for the most dreaded time of the year, exam season. but now, your heart is filled with anticipation as you prepare to fly back to your hometown. you finally have come across a well-deserved break. the one thing on your list of things to do when you get home is to see your best friend, soobin. all you can think about as you touch down in your hometown is the last time you were here, leaving him.

he kept all your secrets and made all your memories. he was your other half, your person. truth be told, you don't know when you developed feelings for him, but you did. you could see it coming, of course, you fell for him. the hardest part of leaving for college was knowing that he wouldn't be next door whenever you needed someone to talk to.

𖧷 now, you stand in front of his door with a container full of leftovers your mom packed nicely for him. you knock, and you can hear him unlocking the door. when it swings open, you both stand there. he turns his head slightly to the side and questions if his vision has mistaken him, but he recognizes you immediately when a nervous smile grows on your face. he engulfs you in a big hug, almost knocking you both over.

"oh my god, y/n!! i can't believe you're here right now—fuck, it's been so long!" he hugs you around the waist and squeezes you tighter. he pulls back to look at you, shock evident on his face. you're sure that you share the same expression. his hair is a bit longer and more well-kept than you remember. he still smells like him but with a hint of cedar and cinnamon. the most noticeable change is his height. he was always a little taller than you, but now he towers over you.

"neither can i—wow, you've grown," you nervously giggle. he fidgets with the sleeves of his flannel a bit before stuttering over his words, "uhm, you know, growth spurt. you look really pretty, by the way."

𖧷 "thank you," you can feel your cheeks become red, and you suddenly forget why you were here. "oh! mom wanted me to give you this. she says that it probably won't be as good as your guys' food, but she hopes you like it." you smile again, and he takes the container, thanking you.

"i'm sure it's great; i'll make sure to thank her! do you maybe want to catch up? my mom found our old bikes in the garage. we could take them for a ride? go see our spot?"

the ride there was full of laughs and near crashes into nearby bushes as you made your way to your designated spot. "ow! i keep hitting my knees on the handlebars," he cries out between laughs. you laugh along with him and swerve slightly, your hands weakening from laughter.

𖧷 you finally arrive at the playground that you recognize so well. you kick down the kickstand on your bikes and walk to the rusty swing set, the creaking much louder than you remember. as you swing, conversation flows easily until it slows to peaceful silence before you break it."

it's great to see you. i really hate that i let us fall out of contact, but i'm glad to see you again. i missed your face, your laugh." he smiles at you, and love is practically seeping from his eyes, not that you notice.

"can i tell you something? i think part of the reason i didn't reach is that i figured you didn't feel the same way, so i didn't set myself up to catch more feelings. i mean, they say distance makes the heart grow fonder, and i think i'm more in love with you now than i was when you left." you stop swinging and look at him, baffled. "in love? with me?"

𖧷 "you couldn't tell? i thought fixing your hair at the airport before you left was a big enough hint!" your jaw drops as you replay the moment butterflies swarmed in your stomach before the harsh reality of you leaving set in. "i just thought i had hair on my face! oh my god, i hope you aren't as terrible of a flirt now.

"oh, should i prove that i'm not?" he raises his brows at you smugly and reaches his hand out to hold yours as you swing in sync. you throw your head back, laughing at his silly attempt at flirting, but you link your hands nonetheless.

"you're such a loser!"

𖧷 "oo, it's so pretty in here," you say in awe as you enter the room, the rainbow lights on the brightly colored arcade machines. kai, your best friend, who's holding the door, walks in behind you. before he could agree, you rush off to the first game you see.

the arcade is mostly empty. the only people to be seen are tired employees sipping fountain drinks and chatting. you look around and scope the scene, looking for your favorite games.

you bounce between games and machines, gaining tickets. you play against kai in air hockey and beat him by a landslide. kai challenges you to a rematch, and this time, he wins. ignoring how he rubs it in your face, you find more games to battle him in.

𖧷 "oh, come on! i beat you fair and square, didn't i? the rematch was winner-take-all, so i won!" he brags, and you roll your eyes, the playful banter between you always a source of amusement. but you'd never tell him that.

you rush to point at a claw machine, sliding in a few coins. you fiddle with the joystick, guiding the claw to hover above a cute plush penguin. you push the bottom beside the joystick, and the claw descends, clasping the arm of the blue penguin. it comes back up and takes the plush with it. it glides across the top of the machine.

as the plush penguin nears the prize slot, it falls short. you try again unsuccessfully, and after your fourth attempt, you give up. you whine and slump down a bit before you turn to look at kai. "hey, hyuka?"

𖧷 kai looks at you, already knowing what you're going to ask, and moves closer, inserting his coins. he does the same as you, but more methodically. this time, the claw successfully drops the plush into the prize slot. he retrieves it and offers it to you, and you accept it with a victorious smile, hugging it tightly.

"oh my god, he's so cute!! look at his little face; he looks just like you!!" you go into a cuteness aggression, squeezing the cheek of the plush and doing the same to kai.

you get blinded by the adorable face of the plush, and kai begins to pout. you both still stand in front of the claw machine, and he leans against it, observing you. jealousy bubbles in his chest as he watches you baby the cute stuffed animal.

𖧷 "i'm starting to think you like that penguin more than you like me," he jokes, but you still don't look up, reading the plush's tag. you finally speak up, thrilled. "his name's kai, too!"

you look up at him with big eyes, and he leans down to kiss you before he can even question himself. you can't even focus on kissing him back before it's over, and you mentally scold yourself for missing your chance.

he rushes to apologize. "oh my god, uhm, i'm sorry. your cheeks were red, and you looked so pretty with the lights on your face, but i should've asked—"

𖧷 "can i kiss you?" you cut his apologetic rant off, and he stares at you dumbfounded. he nods, and you peck him lightly. once you pull back, kai takes the penguin into his hands and looks at him. "can we have shared custody? he's really cute, actually."

your stomach growls after you walk around the arcade and have a long conversation about your new son. kai giggles under his breath. "wanna get some pizza?" you perk up at his offer and skip over to the food counter.

"as long as you're paying!"

༄ MISSION: OUR SUMMER― supalonley

𝜗𝜚 ―C.SOOBIN 【수빈】 VERSION

WARM SUNLIGHT gently seeps in through the thin cotton curtain, splaying its rays onto the crisp white sheets. a gentle breeze runs through the air, leading to soft snores under the warmth.

mornings with soobin were so simple and comforting, especially the gentle air in the mornings. you're gently nestled in soobin's arms, you turn over to check the clock on your bedside table. 8:23am.

the whirrs and chirps of your AC were still running. you stare at the blanket you were partially tucked under, and rummaged through it before taking it off, feeling warm under the sun's rays.

you yawn, crack a couple bones and rub your eyes before thinking about the soft souffle pancakes you might cook you and your lover for breakfast. you gently release yourself from soobin's grasp, lifting the blankets (that were barely on you) to get up.

you feel a gentle tug on the hem of your shirt, instantly getting tugged back onto the bed.

"what.. what is it, love..."

"just stay like- 5 seconds longer." he whines.

his face crinkles a little, moving his plush lips to the side to reveal his cute dimples. you loved to poke it. you loved to ask him to show it. you loved to kiss it. your mind drifted, still in a hazy sleep state.

not being able to resist your adorable yet giant boyfriend’s early antics, you place yourself next to him to curl up to. blankets were no use, especially in the summer, so all you had was each other. not that you complained (not including the numerous times you told him to move).

you looked at his shut eyes, glad that he’s getting the rest he deserves. you graze your thumb over his eyelid, motioning his eyelids to remain closed. his soft snores fill the silence as he tucks you underneath his chin.

the scent of home drifts through the air, making your eyes restless to go back to sleep. staying in soobin’s arms was the only thing keeping you in bed. you decide to finally release yourself from his hold once again, gently draping his arm on the now empty space next to him.

you feel a tiny pang of pity, as you look down on your boyfriend's crinkled face from the lack of your presence.

such a pretty boy.

you whisper, as you push his front hair with your warm hands, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. you begin to get ready for a shower, planning to feel fully awake and refreshed from the morning summer air.

the lukewarm water runs down your body as you swiftly shower. before you know it, you're already out and drying your hair. you dollop the hair serum on your hand, scrubbing it into every lock. brushing your hair gently with the wooden hairbrush, fixing your parts, simultaneously making sure your hair stays cold to cool you for the rest of the day (or doing whatever your hair needs! :)).

little wisps of steam seep out the door as you exit, finding your boyfriend peeling some mandarins for breakfast. he's always so insistent on getting so much vitamin c.

"g'morning, love."

"morning soob! you should shower to cool off, i'll make you a fruit salad. i don't want you just eating mandarins for breakfast." you smile.

he slowly but steadily stands up from the table, pulling you by the waist as he walks past and presses a hasty kiss onto the crown of your hair.

you walk into your kitchen, mini fan running as you open the small window next to the kitchen slightly ajar. you take out the bear shaped cutting board beomgyu had gotten you two, and began to delicately slice some mangoes, strawberries, and blueberries (or any fruit to your preference!).

he comes out the shower, towel around his neck as beads of water drip down his ash blonde hair. he takes a seat on the counter, watching as you take out 2 forks for you and soobin to use.

he stares at you. you immediately feel his stare, you look back up at him.

"let me guess. you want me to do your skincare?"

suddenly, you find yourself placed on the bathroom counter and legs wrapped around his waist. he loves when you're so gentle with the toner, he loves when you graze your delicate fingers over his lashes, he loves when you make sure you don't cut him when snipping the face mask. you dry his hair, gently massaging the towel through his hair as he brushes his teeth.

there is nothing in the entire world you'd ever trade for this.
