Barging into the station early in the morning, you immediately stormed over to Yeonjun’s office and slammed open the door. Notebook ready in hand , finger separating the pages and placed inside the one you wanted to show him.
“Yeonjun!”
“Good morning to you too Y/n.”
Rolling your eyes, you opened up your notebook and we're about to slam it onto his desk, you had been rehearsing how this was gonna go since you woke up and we're brushing your teeth, finishing off the finishing touches as you drove to the station.
You were ready to say everything that you had taken the time to script, writing it down in a long lost document that laid in your brain and was just waiting to be reused, you ended up apologizing for having the wonderful invention of a notebook in your arms and no longer needing the free one that was almost like an application.
Taking in your huge breath and getting prepared to completely destroy your vocal chords-
“Choi Yeonjun? L/n Y/n? Oh good that I found you both- our boss Choi Soobin wants to see you two.”
And… of course. Someone had to interrupt your main character moment, just as you were preparing to get the top police rank and receive a promotion to- what a bummer.
Yeonjun laughed as he looked back at you and shrugged, “oh well, guess you gotta tell me later.” He responded, getting up from his chair as he made his way to the door and held it open for you. You sighed in disappointment and thanked him, carrying your shoulders low at the missed opportunity.
You both went to the main office, where you found some other cops on shift also gathered and discussing. You glanced at Yeonjun in confusion, but it was clear he was just as confused as you were since these types of situations were uncommon in your station.
Finally, Soobin came over and spoke, “I know that this was a very uncalled for situation, however recently we have discussed with the head chief for a few weeks on end and have come to a very sudden conclusion.”
Hearing the mumbles of the few cops who were present, they waited for Soobin to complete his sentence yet gathered up in their small little friend groups in order to discuss their theories on what was happening.
You yourself leaned a bit closer to Yeonjun, “You think someone used the bathroom too hard causing the bathrooms to go under forbidden restrictions again?” You whispered, making Yeonjun snort as he recalled the time that actually happened, he quickly cleared his throat and went back to serious mode upon the presence of Soobin who had been glancing around at the police who were there.
“We have come to the conclusion that we would accept a new cop in the station who studied overseas and graduated from a top law school.”
Mumbles were heard among the entire room, almost like the sound of people talking in a stadium after an abrupt silence stops a play, and people around the room start questioning whether the play is over, suddenly everyone went silent upon Soobin placing his finger over his lip.
“Because we have trained him for quite some time, and his grades as well as his resume proved he has enough talent to start as a high rank cop in our station. He will be joining our top tier cops for the time being, Y/n, Yeonjun, he'll be under you both for now, can I trust you with that?”
The room has never been more quiet, the process time between you and Yeonjun, all the eyes were fixed on the two of you, who stayed firmly looking at Soobin. Both of you made eye contact and thought for a moment, however you both knew that neither of you had a good feeling about this.
Yeonjun finally looked back and nodded his head, almost completely removing the worried expression that he had been looking at you with previously.
“Yes, that's fine boss.” Yeonjun responded, you sucked up the feeling and responded back, “We'll take good care of him.”
Soobin smiled and nodded at you both, looking back at the rest of the officers in the room. “Alright then, please introduce yourself.”
Suddenly, another person came out. A guy, maybe around 20 years old, he was tall, almost reaching the height of Soobin, yet not quite there yet. He looked a little frail so you were a bit skeptical on how he could become a cop, especially such a high rank one when he looked so young.
“He looks a bit weak..? Or regular don't you think..?” You whispered over to Yeonjun to which he laughed, making you find yourself looking at him wondering what was so funny.
“You look really weak too, I'd probably trust him more than you to be real here.”
You snapped at him “Shut the hell up, I'm not that weak looking!”
He chuckled, looking upon hearing the man start speaking.
“Hello, I'm Kai Kamal Huening, but I prefer to just be called Huening Kai, if possible Hyuka.” He smiled, voice soft and innocent, a little bit lighter than you had expected.
Some part of you felt weird whenever the youngman introduced himself. However, you weren't exactly sure what you might have felt in that short instant, but whatever it was sent chills down your spine. What you discovered last night and was on the verge of telling Yeonjun should be forgotten, as it was best to keep it to yourself.
You walked down the hallways of the station with Yeonjun, you both had left the conference room and went to the cafeteria to get yourselves a small coffee and snack, so much investigating made you hungry.
“I don't know… I don't really like the new guy.” you muttered, suddenly starting to ramble on why. “I mean like, he probably just lied about studying abroad and in the best law school, like come’on, I also got deja vu hearing his voice. 20ish years old and already accomplished that much? Became a high rank officer? Yeah no.”
Sighing, he responded, “You're probably just jealous because you started out as a lower rank and it took you an eternity to get to where you are now.”
“Oh shut up, you're no one to talk. It took you longer than it took me.” You snapped, making him hiss at you, immediately separating the coffee from his face.
“Well, I still hold the title of the first cop to be considered ‘high rank’ in this station.'' he snapped back, making you both start bickering about whatever came first to your mind. One moment it'd be about your ranks and the next you'd both be throwing punches at each other for that stepped on potato chip that you both remembered you failed to save about a year ago.
Opening the door to the conference room you both had been in, the two of you entered and began walking back angrily to your spots for your tini mini argument that you both happened to have in the hallway.
“You both are back, I've been waiting.” A voice said from the back of the room, sounding like it was getting closer and approaching the discussion table. Making eye contact, you both glanced at the voice which happened to be the face you saw in your nightmares that hadn't even happened yet.
Yeonjun stole the words out of your mouth and unfortunately spoke before you, “If it's not rude, may I ask what you're doing here?” He questioned, looking at Huening Kai, he was annoyed, not specifically at Huening but more at you. (in which you shared the same exact emotions as him)
Hyuka placed a friendly smile, the type that would easily melt someone's heart if done at the right time, and even when it wasn't it was still worth crushing over. It somewhat made you feel some type of way when he smiled so kindly like that, it was also the moment when you realized just how hot this new guy was, he looked like a full on idol, visuals so captivating they left you speechless.
“I don't have a specific reason to be here. But I thought we should get to know each other before anything since we'll be close allies from now on.”
You thought he sounded like a child, he for surely hadn't been speaking like that beforehand.
“Sorry bud, but when you're a high rank officer there's better things to do then get to know each other. We'll just let time do that for us.” You responded, making him look at you once more. Not thinking much about it, you went back to your notebook, purposefully skipping over the page from last night. Yeonjun had been doing some computer work, but you truthfully didn't know what he was doing.
But upon noticing something was wrong, when you realized that he was still looking at you… you turned your head to face him, looking him in the eye for an instant, so little but enough for his expression to completely change.
Because you were sure of it, for a split second after turning your face, you looked into his eyes and saw absolutely zero emotion, no remorse, no light and no sensitivity… pure coldness. Yet the next second, his eyes softened as a smile rounded across his face giving you a slight nod.
Suspiciously turning back with your heart racing, you went back to your notebook before hearing the alarm go off, once more, for the second time that same week, second day in a row. Now this was rare.
Yeonjun got up from his chair, running to the door and slamming it open, you followed behind, stopping to signal Huening to follow you, in which he did. All three of you ran out of the station, seeing the cop cars beginning to line up as they prepared them for you all.
You noticed Wooyoung at the scene, speaking with another worker, but something about Wooyoung was different today. He looked so- tired. So drained of energy, and most outstanding of all, anxious.
Wooyoung nodded at you after he noticed you staring and gave you a small sassy motion of ‘What?” Before making his way to a car, opening up the driver seat and getting inside, closing the door behind him. If you were being serious you were honestly glad that Wooyoung would be accompanying you on this investigation because the previous day had been a complete mess without him. The only time you'd ever say that things were better with Wooyoung around.
You got into the passenger seat of the car with Yeonjun, noticing that Huening had gotten into the backseat of the car, you both made eye contact for a moment before shrugging it off upon seeing Wooyoung start driving to wherever this destination was, making you both follow shortly after.
Pulling into different driveways, you finally arrived a normal looking house with then lights on, you stared in confusion as you checked your phone, looking up the address on your maps and seeing this exact same location.
“I'm confused- if this is just a normal house then why would the alarms go off?” You asked, looking outside your window at the property. You heard Yeonjun shuffling around beside you, preferably getting himself prepared for anything that might've been about to happen.
“Yeah well, if the alarms went off then something went down inside that house.” he said, opening his car door and exiting the vehicle. You turned around and shared a nod with Huening Kai, both of you exiting the car right after Yeonjun and making your way to Wooyoung's car, who had been currently standing next to the door, preparing everything necessary.
“Yeonjun, I need you to go with __ for today. Y/n, you'll be with Huening Kai.” Wooyoung said, putting his notepad under his belt, you stared in shock and looked back at Yeonjun who shared your same reaction, Wooyoung looked at you both and shrugged, “It is what it is.”
“Wait- we don't even know what's going on… can you at least tell us?” You asked, looking back at Huening Kai who had been preparing himself. You should've been kinder with the guy, his first case was gonne be a serious one.
Woo sighed, looking back at you and hesitantly speaking, “Someone dangerous might be in there. The owners escaped but we don't know if the intruder might still be in there.”
You frowned slightly, this was a case of possible ‘secret rooms,’ and you had never been good at finding those. You looked back at Huening Kai who had already been looking down at you.
“Are you good at puzzles? Or finding hidden objects? Spotting the difference games?” You asked, seeing his expression change as he thought about it for a moment, looking back at you ready to answer. “I think I can handle- I'm pretty good at spotting the difference games.”
You sighed in relief and led him to the entrance, which had surprisingly been left open, you started off by turning off the lights, it was better to travel at way as the intruder could've potentially been anywhere, and you had no idea how psychotic he could've possibly been.
Your gaze shifted back to Huening, who had been looking around the hallway you both were walking through, arguably looking for any clues. “Keep your volume low. Don't talk loudly and don't be afraid to walk at normal pace. It's easier to hide your presence if you just walk normally.”
Huening looked back at you and nodded, going back to his check his own investigation, checking everything he possibly could. Walls for any noticable indents or misplacements, shelf's with anything that could indicate a secret passageway, basement stairways, attic latters.
“You’know, you seem off.” You muttered, which one caught his attention and you took note of it. “How so?” He mumbled back, looking back at the walls but with his normal friendly tone completely gone. You knew that his tone always softened around you and Yeonjun, but now that calm voice was gone.
“I can't tell- but you just feel different. It feels like you know what's gonna happen, you seem unfased at our cases like this when you should be the most nervous. It almost seems like you knew this was coming…”
His gaze shifted back to you, having seen it from a mirror which was visible straight ahead, you smirked slightly. His eyes become a glare, that same eyes that he had been attempting to hide prior to the alarms going off.
“You didn't get jump scared at the alarms and I happened to notice you looking down at your wrist quite a lot just a couple of minutes before the alarms sounded, your wrist happens to hold a watch. Almost as if you knew it was about to sound, like if you programmed it yourself.”
He looked into the mirror, seeing you frozen in your tracks and looking back at him, turning yourself around shortly after to make eye contact with him, full body turned to face him.
“So tell me the truth, you're already busted.” Your grip tughtening around in your grip, ready to pull the trigger as your fingers wrapped around the lever that became a do or die situation, hiw head fell down low as he lifted his arms, with a smile on his face as he chuckled on about the situation. You jumped back in surprise and felt your trauma come back to you…
The entire reason you got deja vu upon hearing him for the first time. This was the same man you had seen just a day ago. The same laugh and speech. The thing that triggered your fight or flight mode against him… was all from of his voice.
“Oh that's funny-” he chuckled, catching his breath from the laugh, you glanced around as your felt your arm loosen up against your gun, as they began to sweat.
“If you truly knew what I was up to- you'd know that I was waiting for you to turn around.”
The realization of the trap hit you, but only whenever it was already too late. You felt a blunt amount of force bang against your head, enough to knock you out completely, you slumped back a few steps before falling over completely.
Beomgyu caught you just before you could fall, putting you down lightly as he looked at Kai. “That's what you wanted right…? To knock her out?”
Kai nodded and bended down to look at you, checking your air circulation and bending down to listen to your heart. “Looks like she wasn't smart enough to dodge our game. It's her fault.”
Beomgyu’s expression changed a bit, looking at your unresponsive body, “She's still alive right?”
“Yeah, your hit wasn't fatal, best of all she'll remember everything when she wakes up.”
“I don't think it's good to remember some stranger hitting you in the back of the head with a baseball bat.” Beomgyu added, making Huening roll his eyes.
“You know what I mean.”
Huening ordered Beomgyu to pick you up and escort you out, which Beongyu listened. Bringing you out of the building, Huening following shortly after.
“How could you fall for such an obvious trap being such a clever girl? If anyone needs extra training it's you.”

Opening your eyes and seeing lights above your head, your brain was fuzzy and you felt slight nausea, your eyes took a moment to focus before they were finally able to look around the room at your surroundings.
Immediately reacting upon seeing an unfamiliar setting, one you had never seen before. You felt your heart start beating faster, suddenly finding it hard to breathe as you began to recall everything that happened before you had last all consciousness, you gripped your shirt on your heart side, hearing your racing heart all the way from your ears. Panic beginning to settle in.
The door knob began to twist, opening with a squeak as the door was pulled shut. Your eyes, having been watering, had a hard time focusing on the person who was in front of you, even after you couldn't comprehend where you had heard the voice before. Luckily one thing was for sure, at least it hadn't been Huening Kai…
“I'm glad you're awake, you weren't gone for too long which is lucky. Don't worry your safe, I hope at least.” The voice said, in which you recognized, but couldn't registers whose voice it had been.
“Y/n? Look at me, and lay down.”
A small force had been pushing down your shoulders, which were too tired to push back violating all the rules of science, you laid down on your back and finally had a chance to see who this was.
“Wooyoung? Where are we?”
“The casino.”
“Casino!? Woo, this is illegal you need to arrest everyone here-”
“I can't, someone's already in charge of that.”
“Oh great- is Yeonjun here? I need to speak with him privately about some information I figured out-”
Wooyoung put a finger over your mouth, making you stop talking completely and stare at him confused, seeing him shake his head in disagreement as he disregarded your statement, “There's not use, keep what you found out to yourself Y/n.”
“Wooyoung- you can't be serious. What are you even doing here? How did we get here?”
“I can't explain as of right now.”
You grew annoyed, expresing to him that you weren't in the mood for whatever he was on about. Your gaze made eye contact with Wooyoung- as he figured how to break it. You shook your head in disappointment and rolled your eyes.
“Where's the rest of the team? Let me see them or tell them to come here.” You demanded, to which Wooyoung just shook his head once more.
“You don't understand, I can't-”
“You can't what? Go get them for me?”
“Well if you just let me finish then maybe you'd understand.” Wooyoung glared at you and only then did you realize that this wasn't a joke to him and he was truly being serious. You bowed your head and untensed your shoulders.
“Go on-” you completed, allowing him to continue his sentence. He sighed and shook his head slightly looking around the room.
“Look, I can't contact the others at the moment. They're not here and they don't know where we are. They can't know where we are.” He said as you stared in pure confusion. “Then how are you here..? I got hit in the head really hard and lost consciousness- and you weren't around. So then how did you find me and manage to go unnoticed by the others?” You asked, feeling your heart begin beating faster again as you feared for his response. You prayed that he wouldn't tell you what you thought he would, Wooyoung sighed and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
“What I'm about to tell you sounds really bad but please don't panic.”
You kept eye contact with Wooyoung steadily, never once breaking it. “Well when you start a sentence like that, it's enough to get me in a state of panic.” you commented, making Wooyoung chuckle slightly.
“Don't take it like that- I don't have much time so I'll make it quick and vague.”
You nodded and waited for him to continue as he hesitantly took a breath and started speaking, only to be interrupted by Huening Kai entering the room with Taehyun beside him, Wooyoung looked back at them, standing up and bowing. Questioning his behavior as you became too stunned to speak, you stuttered out your words, barely getting them out.
“Woo- Wooyoung! Why!? Why do you bow down to them!? Do you know who they even are!?” You yelled, making Wooyoung turn back at you and shake his head in disapproval regarding your behavior.
“Looks like she finally woke up. Thank you Taehyun, you did a good job taking care of her.” Huening smiled and nodded. Taehyun, who had been looking at you, glanced back at Huening before shifting his gaze back to you, a smile forming on his face as he held a bowl of soup, which was arguably for you.
Huening Kai sat down on the chair Wooyoung had been on, which sat next to your bed where you had been kept. You hadn't noticed previously but only then did you hear the instrumental music which had been heard from outside the room.
“Listen here, if you can be obedient and do what I ask of you, you'll be out of here soon.”
Disgust filled your expression and you looked at him, trying to find the reasoning behind his statement. You glanced back at Wooyoung and Taehyun, who had been looking at you, awaiting your response. “Why should I have to listen to you?” You finally managed to mutter out.
Huening sat back on the chair, swinging it and lifting it off the ground. Arms and legs crossed as he looked above you at the ceiling. “You're stubborn.” He commented, thinking of what he could be a proper response for you as he kept his gaze strong and firm. His eyes were back to that emotionless void that you had seen previously, which somewhat saddened you as well as terrified you.
“Let's see, I don't have plans of killing you, but if it so happens that you tick me off too much then I might as well stain my hands a little.” he said, in a voice so calm and collected that it gave you chills, his head turned back to face you completely with such an innocent stare… truthfully he looked like any regular human being. How could someone talk about murder as if it was an everyday task?
Consequences were always gonna be there and so was karma, but you couldn't help but notice some sort of sincerity in his eyes. Something in you really did tell you that he was being honest, and he truthfully had no intentions of hurting you. So all you could do was nod in response, keeping your head low in disappointment of yourself for being manipulated once more.
He smirked and nodded, getting up from his chair and instructing Taehyun and Wooyoung to follow him. Taehyun turned around, bowing down to you and respectfully leaving the room, Wooyoung however stayed still, looking back at Huening and fidgeting with his fingers.
“If it's okay- I'd like to speak with Y/n. Privately.” He said, making Huening turn around and nod in response, “Just don't say too much.” He added, before escorting himself and Taehyun out of the room.
Immediately shooting your eyes right back to Wooyoung once the door shut, your head shaked in disappointment. “What are you gaining out of this? You betrayed us and now you expect me to reason with you!?”
Wooyoung state clearly disagreed with what you had said, as all he did was stare before shaking his head. “You've got it all wrong- I didn't betray anyone except Huening, I began working with him for investigation purposes. We weren't getting anywhere with his case so the only way to possibly move forward was to side forces with him.”
You didn't respond, simply looking away in disapproval, he knew and nodded, “You have a right to be mad but hear me out… he's not as bad as we make him come off-”
“That man kidnapped my father Wooyoung! That man ruined my everything! And now you're claiming he's not that bad!? How heartless could you be-”
“You don't know the full story Y/n. I know it sounds bad, but if you and the others knew the whole story you'd think the same as me, you're just too quick to judge.”
Leaning back on your bed and watching as Wooyoung got up and left the room. Of course you wouldn't believe him, and you wouldn't until you saw it for yourself and had enough of a reason to know you weren't being played again.
___________
Sitting in what looked to be an interrogation room, although it clearly wasn't. You sat across from Hyuka who had his computer open, he had been silent and hadn't spoken to you for possibly over 10 minutes, so you just sat and waited for him to check in.
Somewhat awkward, you sat and fidgeted with your fingers, attempting to find something to distract yourself from the tense scene you were in, until he finally, at last lifted his head and took a long, exhausted breath.
“Do you know who she is?” He turned his computer around to show you the screen, which held the picture of a woman who appeared to be in her mid 40’s. All you could do was glance back at him and shake your head.
“What business do you have with her? If you tell me a convincing enough story you might be able to pursue me in giving out information about an innocent human being.” You crossed your arms and legs, leaning back on the chair and slightly smirking, trying to get a reaction out of him. He sighed and looked up slightly, thinking of a response.
“Look, I don't plan to harm you, but if you can't do this simple task I might end up having to call someone to take care of you-”
“Why can't you do it yourself?” You immediately interrupted, having a skeptical tone to yourself as you questioned whether this man was actually dangerous in the first place or if he couldn't defend himself, he chuckled automatically knowing what you were thinking.
“I wouldn't hesitate with anyone else, but I could never hit a girl.”
Grinning, and disregarding his words you rolled your eyes, “Well at least you're gentle.” Upon hearing you, he automatically started laughing which got you off guard, making you jump back in surprise as you hadn't heard that side of him. You really hated to admit it but it truly amazed you how attractive this guy could get.
“Listen Ms. Know it all, I have things to take care of so just tell me what you know of her and I'll let you go for now, bring you back when I need you.”
Lifting an eyebrow, you shifted your mouth to one side of your face, making it more apparent on your right cheek. “So you're just gonna admit that you're using someone being that direct about it? Red flag if you ask me.” you teased, motioning as if you could never.
He rolled his eyes, “Listen, I'm not joking, I don't have all day so I'd really appreciate it if you could just tell me what you know of her.”
“If you don't have time then that means i'll only be here until you gotta go right? So then what's the point?”
He shook his head in denial, “Wrong, I have backups who’ll come in and stay with you until they get something out of you.”
“Ugh, you're so persistent-”
He smirked in response, leaning his cheek to his right fist and beginning to play with his pen which sat in his right hand, making small finger turns with it allowing him to spin it around and do a couple of tricks with it.
“It's what I do best.”
Rolling your eyes, you finally spoke up, “Her name is Kim Minju, born in 1982, moved overseas at 8 years old and moved back at 23. Why?” You lifted an eyebrow, immediately making him sit up straight and look at you straight in the eyes.
“What else do you know?”
You sighed and crossed your arms once again, putting your feet on the ground and beginning to swing your chair back and forth. “How do I know I'm not potentially helping you with your next murder?”
He sighed and leaned back on his chair, “I won't deny it cause you are, but if you knew my reasoning, you wouldn't hesitate on telling me everything you know about her.”
Hesitantly, you finally agreed, telling him as little information as you could get away with. You didn't know much about her to begin with, just regular things, you didn't know her address or anything regarding her personal life, however it proved to be enough for Huening and he thanked you and asked you to be taken back to your room.
The guilt of being the reason for why someone was gonna be killed sooner than planned ate you up inside, however you just couldn't stop thinking about those words.
“You don't know the full story Y/n. I know it sounds bad, but if you and the others knew the whole story you'd think the same as me”
“But if you knew my reasoning, you wouldn't hesitate on telling me everything you know about her.”
It really got you thinking, who was in the wrong, was it you or him? Even Wooyoung, someone who had worked in the station for as long as you and Yeonjun believed that this was truly the right thing. So what was going on behind the scenes?
The door slammed open, catching you off guard and nearly making you jump out of your skin.
“Hello!!!!”
Hand on your heart and breathing heavily you stared at the handsome man who was awkward standing in the fronts of your room, tall and slim figure with chocolate brown hair, you gulped to see him still smiling with a bowl of ramen in his hands, he was frozen and staring at you almodt as if uou clicked the pause button.
“Um… hello..?” You responded, snapping him out of the cloud nine, making him approach you with a friendly smile.
“May I ask who you are…?” You asked, trying to keep your voice respectful as he grabbed the lap desk that had been in-between your bed and side table, placing in on your lap and putting the plate over it.
“Am I aloud to say my name?” He yelled, causing you to lift an eyebrow as you questioned who he was talking to. You saw the same guy from earlier walk by the room, stopping at the entrance and leaning against the door frame.
“I mean I guess so. She knows Hyuka’s name and probably knows mine, so go ahead.” He responded, making the previous guy turn back to face you with his friendly smile back.
“Then I'm Choi Beomgyu, nice to meet you, I was the one who knocked you out with a baseball just in case you didn't know.”
You couldn't help but snort at the add on, noticing the other guy’s eyes widen and stare straight a Beomgyu as if he wasn't supposed to say that.
“I like the confidence, You say it as if it was an honor, I like that.”
He nodded and looked back at Taehyun giving you the best of the best, “Well, since you recently woke up, what would you like to drink? Any deserts or allergies we should be aware of?”
Chuckling, you responded, “I like the 5 Star Restaurant service. I'd just like some water, I should hydrate after Mr. Choi Beomgyu smacked me in the head with a baseball bat. Gotta make sure I don't get a concussion.” You shrugged, automatically making him smile and walk out of the room. You shaked you head thinking about how silly the entire interaction was, looking back at your bowl and doing a few couple checks to confirm the food hadn't been poisened, noticing every single one showed the food was safe, you were still skeptical, but you were hungry so you ultimately decided to eat.
Beongyu came back with Taehyun, holding your glass of water. You thanked them and continued eating. One outstanding fact that made you uncomfortable, was the fact that the two of them took a seat on two chairs which were around the room. You thought they would just drop off the food but both remained still and unmoving.
“Um, excuse me… do you need something?” You brought yourself to ask in a low tone, feeling your stomach begin to swirl in a worry. They both shared a similar expression which was hard to read, but it could be the best described as just, pity. Nothing more, but pure pity.
“Why are you guys looking at me like that…?”
They didn't answer, they just kept staring until eventually they glanced at each other and Taehyun sighed. “I think I'm gonna go- it's a bit quiet now.”
Beomgyu nodded as he himself also stood up. Assuming he was gonna leave, you looked back at your food, noticing Taehyun's feet go out of sights but Beongyu’s stop right outside of your view of vision. You looked back up to see him looking at you again, a little taken back when he saw you stare at him directly in the eyes.
After some time of looking at the floor, he lifted his head to meet your eyes again.
“Hyuka isn't the bad guy here-”
You tsk’d at the situation you found yourself in once again, Beomgyu looked back at you and brought his eyebrows down low, he was worried.
“Yeah well- Wooyoung said that to.”
Beomgyu kept his eye contact with you as he saw your eyes beginning to water.
When you were young, your father was the only rope of support for you. Having grown up in an isolated mountain far from the city, you spent most of your time at home. You knew that being a single parent was difficult on your father, that's why you barely spent time with him. He was always at work and when he came home he was tired, so you just let him be.
Most of your childhood was spent at school and with your father, so it was no wonder that you were confused when you woke up to see your dad gone and no where to be found inside the house. He had never come back, and only then did the investigation team come to inform you of his disappearance.
That was it… the most important person in your life? Gone in a snap of a finger. And if there was anything you regretted the most in life, it was not being there for him when he had done that exact thing for you. Starting you career as an officer, you went in with the thought that your father had just abandoned you, the stress of parenting had gotten to him, and he left. But if there was really a chance that he had been captured, you wanted to find him, even if his bones were the last thing remaining.
“It's true-” he responded, making you look back up at him, seeing his sincere eyes. “You'll understand soon- Just be patient.”
Grip tightening onto the blanket in which you laid under, frustration becoming visible from your veins.
“Everyone says that- I've waited for my dad for over a decade. Haven't I been patient enough? I just want to see my father, dead or alive.”
You couldn't keep your tough figure, you burst into tears the very next moment. Beomgyu patted your back, making you jump in surprise to his comfort. But you needed a shoulder to cry on, even if that meant it had to be an enemy's.
Before he exited the room, he turned to you.
“You'll see him soon, he's not dead- but I can't promise he'll stay like that for too long.”
However, you were crying too much that all you could do was nod. You had so much on your mind that you wanted to say, but unfortunately couldn't

Held at gun point, finger pressed roughly against the trigger. Huening pointed the gun right at the head of a man, who was tied to the chair.
“That's enough joking around don't you think? Hurry, I don't have your time.” Huening muttered, in a low pitch voice, short and monotone, yet haunting and threatening.
“I'm not asking for much- I'll pay you! I promise but just let me go!” The other voice said, making Huening Kai press the gun closer to him, earning a small sound from the man. However Huening felt no remorse, neither did he plan to back down. Not now when he had someone like him so close.
“I don't need that stupid money. You committed your crimes and now you must pay for them, understood?”
The man nodded once again, pressing his hands together tightly and squeezing his eyes shut, fearing for his life.
“I'll pay you everything I owe! You just didn't allow me to gather all of the required money-”
Before he could finish, Taehyun and Beomgyu intruded into the scene, both standing at the doorway upon noticing what had been going down. Beomgyu laughed awkwardly as Taehyun let out a friendly smile to the man who was being held hostage, both turning to face Hyuka, the first outstanding feature being the glare on his face.
“What did I saw about walking into these situations-?”
“I apologize, but there's a serious manner we need to discuss prior to this-” Taehyun stated, making Huening roll his eyes in annoyance.
“Forget it- let's just discuss it here.”
A 3rd voice which didn't belong to Beomgyu approached from behind, making them all turn around in shock. Wooyoung had been coming towards the door and witnessed the scene himself.
Huening chuckled lightly, looking back at the victim and pressing his hand up to his neck.
“Listen, I don't want to take this further, let's end this here.”
Wooyoung shook his head, “I deserve to know. Why kill people?” He firmly stated, feeling his adrenaline rush upon neglecting Huening Kai. Not many people had done so, and those who had didn't end well.
Huening Kai nodded in approval after a brief moment of processing the neglection.
“Murder, gambling, abuse, and identity theft.”
Wooyoung tilted his head in confusion. About to speak, before he was interrupted by Huening Kai once again. Making him shut his mouth a listen to every word, investigate and overanalyze everything that came out from his mouth.
“Those are all things this man is guilty of, not only that but also the abandoning of his own child. Does that sound okay to you? Like someone who deserves to live? This man hasn't killed anyone in over 7 years, but if anyone believes that he's willing to change they're dead wrong.”
Taehyun and Beomgyu stayed quiet, looking straight up front and locked on Huening, Wooyoung tilted his head and sighed. He was right all along and he knew it, you probably did as well but refused to believe so.
Beomgyu turned to face Taehyun and nodded, turning back to face Huening Kai before taking in a deep breath.
“We promised her- we promised her that she'd see her father again…”
He only pressed the firearm closer to the man's head, “You promised who?”
“The girl… L/n Y/n”
Hyuka sighed in half disappointment and half disbelief, looking at the man and biting his lip in part confusion on what would be his next approach. “How could you make a promise that wasn't destined to be fulfilled!?”
“Listen, I know he's a bad person but- if there's anyone who deserves closure on this situation it's her, she's waited for a long time and I think it's about time we let her speak to her father again… in person! Alive and face to face!”
Huening knew he was right, but he didn't want accept it. You speaking to your father would only complicate the situation furthermore, you'd be in a state of denial if you heard what your father did. Becoming a police to find him only to realize that he was also on the other side… destined for hell.
“Is my daughter here..?” the man asked, voice rough and croaky. Huening sighed and lifted himself from his chair, walking back to the door to pick up a bottle of water, shoving it into Taehyun's arms as he walked out the door.
“Give him some water and feed him something. When he's done bring Y/n in so she can speak with Mr. L/n and watch them closely, make sure the truth slips out of his mouth.”
Taehyun's jaw dropped in shock to Kai’s statement. To say he was in disbelief was an understatement because right now he was in disbelief. Something in Huening opened and made him feel pity for your situation and well being, he finally did the right thing and would allow you to speak with your father once more.
“You got it.” Taehyun responded, bringing the man the water and allowing him to drink it, ordering Beomgyu to go pick up the food in order to feed him a healthy meal.
You heard a knock in the other side of the room, looking at the piece of wood to see the door knob slowly turning and the door creaking open. Taehyun, stood in the door step holding and glass of water, presumably for you.
“I have some news for you- but you're going to need to drink this first.”
Blinking your eyes, you stayed frozen and stared at him. “What if the news are something like ‘you’re gonna die in 2 hours’ and when they investigate they'll say it's from poisoning..?” you teased.
He grinned, “Funny, if we wanted to do something to you we would've done so a long time ago.” he responded, you shrugged and took the water from his grip, running a few safety checks before taking a sip and thanking him.
“Anyways what?”
“We're going to let you see your father, I'll take you to him after you finish your glass of water.”
You paused, looking back down at the water which you ruled out as safe, immediately looking back at the young man in pure fear, eyes shaking. “Okay- wait- is this actually poisoned?” You asked, seeing him roll his eyes.
“I'm being serious!” You added, not noticing much of a change in his expression, in a matter a fact he looked even more frustrated. “No, it's not poisoned, now chill out and just drink your water, if not the deals off.”
Hurrying, you drank up you water noticing him take a seat, it was a bit difficult since you were still a bit full from lunch earlier, “I'm a bit confused… why am I suddenly allowed to see him after all this time?”
“Cause it's a promise. Hyuka doesn't break promises.”
“But your boss wasn't-”
“But Beomgyu made you that promise. It doesn't matter who made it, if it's a promise then it's a promise that needs to be kept.”
You stayed silent, remembering Wooyoung's words about this guy who everyone called “Huening Kai.” Maybe he really wasn't as bad as everyone made him seem. Maybe he truthfully did have a reason for killing?
You really hated how you could never figure out the puzzle to all of these guys. Were they the villains or the heroes? Which side were they on? What reason did they have for killing? You didn't have enough time to think about these things because sooner or later, you arrived at the front doors of a dimly lit hall. The room on the other side appeared to have decent lighting.
“Is he in here..?” You found yourself asking, to which Taehyun nodded, moving his arm to the door and staying behind you, turning the door knob and sliding the door open.
There you saw a man, around his 60’s, tied up to a chair with a table sitting next to him. Automatically spotting the knife which sat on the side, noticing it being a safe distance away from the man. Beomgyu was also in the room.
He lifted his head, you almost couldn't recognize him. He had changed so much, he looked so worn out, tired, every negative word you could think of. But this was him- it was truly your father who had gone missing 12 years ago.
You walked up to the chair and looked at you dad in the face, Taehyun moved closer to Beomgyu, both watched from the sidelines.
“Dad, what happened? Why are you here? Why did you leave? What's wrong? Why do you look like this!?”
He shook his head lightly, he did that when he tried to reassure you everything was okay.
“I made a mistake… many years ago. And I don't think I can recover from it.”
“No, dad! You did nothing wrong, what happened?”
You could see a couple of tears forming in his eyes, “My little girl has grown up so much, I heard you became a cop. Good job, your mom would've been so proud of you.”
“Dad, stop talking like that, tell me! What's wrong!?” You responded, feeling your own tears streaming down your face, staring at this man who had once been the human version of the sun, it hurt so much to see him in this state. Your cheeks burned and your ears turned bright red.
“Please don't panic Y/n. But I fear that me and you are no longer fighting for the same rights.”
You froze in place, all time stopped. He couldn't mean what you thought, could he? What was his intention? He was mistaken wasn't he? What was on his mind? What were these rights he mentioned?
“Dad! What are you saying!?”
“Please don't call me ‘father’ anymore, someone like you shouldn't carry this shame of being related to someone like me.”
“Stop talking like this.”
“Y/n, please live well-”
“Stop talking like this!”
“I don't want you to suffer anymore. Just know that I had always been in the wrong, I have committed a crime in which I can not be forgiven for.”
“Dad! That's not true!”
“Y/n, I have murdered someone before… not just one person but multiple, more than once, I have taken the life of innocence.”
You stood in shook, taking multiple steps back. You felt played… spending so long looking for this one man, only for him to have been with the other team, that team that found joy in the suffering of others, and all you could do was wonder… ‘Why? Why me?’
The amount of years you spent in dedication to this one human being, only to realize that he was also your enemy. You felt betrayed, and all you could do was scream. Scream and yell in anger and frustration. You felt were betrayed and more than once. What a pity life.
Taehyun and Beomgyu took you away from the man. What a coward to keep his head down and not even look you in the eye, not even once throughout the time you had been being escorted out.
You passed Huening Kai on your way out, he had been making his way in, and only then did you realize the truth. Only then did you remember the knife, only then did you realize what that man's last memories would've been.
You fell onto the floor in the hallway, crying, sobbing, and throwing your hands in the air. Denial was overtaking all feelings as you saw Beomgyu and Taehyun looking at each other then back at you, that same expression of pity on their faces.
“Don't look at me like that-” you managed to stutter out, making them both apologize, bowing in respect and taking you to the room.
“I can't believe it… how the heck did I never know.”
Taehyun sighed and looked at Beomgyu.
“He's the ghost doctor killer.” Beomgyu hesitantly responded, “You know of him, but since he's an anonymous killer you had no idea.”
You only cried louder, “So many years for this to happen. What did I ever do to deserve this?”
Beomgyu patted your back, trying to comfort you, “You didn't do anything.”
You cried, and the two of them were there all along until you asked them to leave. But you realized, they listened to you, they heard you and comforted you. You may have realized something that you hadn’t beforehand. Or maybe you just refused to,
But they weren't bad people, they never were. They had always been friendly and kind to you, you always tricked yourself into believing otherwise.
“That was the end of that, memories from that night are distinct, I truthfully don't remember much after I fell asleep, all my memory is foggy, and faint-”
Yeonjun lifted an eyebrow, starting directly at you with his tongue clicking with the roof of his mouth, he looked down at the papers and went through a couple.
“You just remember your father's confession before he had been killed by Huening Kai?”
You nodded slightly, seeing his expression change. You stared awkwardly, picking up a few papers as he crossed out a few cases, the old school ones.
“Seriously, we were looking into the wrong people at the worst times. What type of cops are we?” Yeonjun joked, trying to lighten up the mood.
You chuckled and nodded, noticing him get up and make his way to the door. “I'm gonna go make us a coffee, I'll get you that donut that you really like, I'll meet you in the conference room.”
You immediately picked yourself up from the chair and nodded, “Won't you need help though? I can accompany you!”
“No I'm good, go meet the others, I'll be there soon.” He smiled, making you loosen up a little, nodding and walking across the hall, deep in thought and reiterating all the trauma that had been on your mind lately.
“Hey! Why the long face?”
You turned around and smiled softly, you had wanted to see him for a while now, it was nice to have more people on missions other than just you and Yeonjun.
“Damn it Hyuka, you always make me smile at the worst times.”
“It's written on this list of rules to being your boyfriend” he responded, extending an imaginary paper of apparent rules that he was supposed to follow, which just made you laugh harder than you wanted to.
He smiled and walked close to you, you examined him up and down, smirking. “I never noticed how hot you look in that police uniform-”
He looked down at the outfit and stroke a pose, “I know right~” he responded sassily, caressing his hair just to get another laugh from you, which of course worked.
“I’m grateful that you joined us and we got everything sorted out. It had been a while with just me and Yeonjun so having more people feels nice.”
Huening nodded as you approached the door to the conference room, he opened the door for you and you thanked him, entering and taking a seat.
“You guys are too lovey dovey and you just started dating!”
“For real- get a room…”
“Come’on y'all, be a bit more supportive!” You yelled back, making Beomgyu laugh hysterically, causing Taehyun to hit him jokingly, Huening sat down in between them making them both be quiet, “Calm down- we're not at home.”
They nodded and continued laughing.
“So what's the discussion today Ms. L/n Y/n??” Taehyun spoke, earning a chuckle from you. You got out a folder and started talking, Yeonjun coming in shortly after with Wooyoung, bringing in the coffees and two donuts.
“Hey! What about us!?” Beomgyu whined, making Yeonjun smirk as he sat next to you. “Only me and Y/n are worthy of these donuts.”
Everyone burst out laughing, Soobin then entered the room, quieting everyone down as all of you took the chance to relax.
“I called you all here but I'll be going shortly, firstly I wanted to discuss what our next case will be. Fortunately, this will be a relatively simple one compared to others we've taken on. Of course, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening, this will be your first case as full on officers in our station, but because you all are experienced I won't worry too much about you guys. You three just do things your way and remember to stay with the others.”
And so you discussed, a group of people who were robbing good's from other's property and also places that do relatively well considering the amount of money earned. You heard and knew this would be a laid back case, making you and Yeonjun smirk at each other knowingly.
“Well looks like our new guys will need a little bit of our help-” Yeonjun spoke, in a teasing manner, making Wooyoung snort from the back of the room, you turned around to face Soobin, and smirked, a smirk he recognized all too well.
“Chief, we might as well make these guys carry around little toy guns, make sure they don't accidentally kill someone-”
“Hey! Let's not go there-” Taehyun responded, Beomgyu turned away, making his facial expression and actions all too exaggerated as he played to be in disbelief. Huening Kai simply chuckled remembering the good old times.
Shaking his head, everything became a background noise as you entered a deep state of thought.
You finally understood, these guys weren't evil, they weren't looking for war. They were simply trying to help you and your team. You guys invested too much time into the wrong people and you had learned to accept that this trio was always one step ahead of you. Maybe this was for the best, helping each other would mean a better and safer economy.
Because even though there was two seperate methods… at least there had always been one goal.

"Hey, are you free tonight? I could use your help with something."
Kai's heart was pounding in his chest. Never in a million years did he except you to actually agree. In his mind, he felt foolish for asking but he also felt overjoyed and nervous. He was a wreck in the best sense.
Coming to college has been a lot of firsts for Huening Kai. It was really his first time being away from home, first time going to a college party, first time getting drunk, and so many others. Yet, there was still one thing that he was looking to cross off his bucket list.
After freshman year, he moved into a townhouse apartment with his closest friends - Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, and Taehyun. They were the ones that helped Kai navigate his new independent life. They were always willing to say yes when some new activity came into the young boy's mind. They kind of saw themselves as Kai's big brothers.
His four older friends really went to great extents to make sure Kai felt comfortable. And he always felt like he could be himself around the guys. Until one conversation came up. "So Taehyun, did you end up bringing that girl home from the club?"
All the boys were gathered around the living room, watching Kai and Boomgyu play video games. However, Beomgyu's interest took a turn once he heard Yeonjun's question. Beating Kai could wait because right now, he wanted to overhear the details of Taehyun's late night adventure. Kai whined in disappointment as the other three shushed him, eager for a response.
What was the big deal anyways?
Soon, the man that captured all their attention emerged from the kitchen. He held a water bottle in his hand, a proud smirk curling on his lips. "You know, a gentleman never kisses and tells." "And since were you a gentleman in bed?" Soobin scoffed. "We share a wall," he groaned. "Touche."
All the boys laughed at the little exchange between Soobin and Taehyun. It was always in good fun to rile each there up. Honestly, it was just proof of how deep their friendship runs amongst the five of them. It was a brotherhood.
"At least you've been able to get someone to come home with you. I feel like I always strike out at the clubs lately," Yeonjun muttered, arms crossed over my chest. "So is that why I constantly hear your Tinder going off?" Beomgyu laughed. "And what's your excuse, Gyu?" "I'd much rather take a girl out for a meal before eating her out," he said confidently.
The group groaned at his response. Soobin and Yeonjun made disgusted faces as they were getting too many details about their friend's sex life.
Kai felt like he wanted to sink deep into the beanbag chair until it swallowed him whole. Why was this the topic of conversation? Why did it matter how they were having sex?
Soobin seemed to notice Kai's discomfort. In the group, Soobin sometimes was the peacemaker. He was there to offer advice and be a place of support. Sure, most friends disclosed their personal woes in their lives and intimate details. But he could sense from the younger boy that he wished the topic switched already.
"What about you, Kai? Any new girls lately?"
Kai's eyes widened. He had his eyes locked on the paused video game, internally praying he didn't hear Taehyun correctly. All eyes were suddenly on Kai, who felt like he was going to be suffocated by the sudden spotlight. "Well, I know he likes y/n," Soobin tried helping.
Kai shot daggers towards Soobin at that response. He was already anticipating the responses that were going to come from the other three. He knew Soobin meant well, but god, there was no way he could fend off the three predators surrounding him.
"Oh right! You guys had a study date last week. Did you get to study her anatomy up close and personal?" Beomgyu teased.
SMACK
Yeonjun smacked him lightly in the back of the head at the corny response. Soobin and Taehyun stifled their laughter, knowing Taehyun was going to seek retaliation at some point. Yet, the quick disruption soon stopped and they looked at Kai. They weren't going to let him off the hook that easily. "Uh, well, you see." Come on, Kai. Think of something to save yourself. "Don't tell me you're still a virgin," Taehyun teased.
Crickets. It was so silent you could hear a pin drop. Kai slipped down into the beanbag so his entire back was resting against it before hiding his face in his hands. This was not the way he was wanting anyone to find out. Frankly, he ever wanted anyone to find out! Expecting the vultures to rip him apart, he was still met with silence. There was always a comeback. There was always words exchanged, and laughs followed. He didn't know what was worse - the sudden silence amongst the five of them or waiting for the comeback to strike.
Slowly, Kai uncovered his face to see his four friends staring at him. They were almost at a lost for words themselves. "God, we're all terrible influences," Soobin groaned. Laughter finally filled the room, including coming from Kai. He could always rely on Soobin to fix things.
The conversation turned to try to help Kai, wondering if he had any desire to have sex. Of course he did, but he felt clueless as to where to start. That night, the boys helped build up Kai's confidence. The four older friends were determined to help Kai's sex life.
They gave him pointers on how to approach the topic. Kai's biggest concern was coming on too strong, not wanting to offend anyone. That's just one of the many qualities they all adored about his friend - he was considerate. I guess that's why they were surprised he hasn't gotten laid yet. He just seemed to attract girls left and right.
But there was one girl who's had his attention. Nobody else has been able to push the barrier he put up as he only had eyes for you. No woman on campus compared to you, so why would Kai go out of his way to have sex with a random person when it might get back to you?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Kai met during one of those lame icebreakers they make you do during freshman year. It was at a get-to-know-your-RA event. A mandatory event. Kai was at least grateful this one time for it because he got to cross paths with you. The two of you lived in the same residence hall. Your suite was towards the end of the hall while his suite was towards the front. Another thing he was grateful for because it meant he had a greater chance of running into you.
Kai was captivated by your personality at first. You didn't seem like the type of girl that wanted to fit in. Not that you ever tried to go against the status quo. You just seemed more confident in yourself which allowed you to explore your own interests without trying to conform to societal acceptance. It truly left him in awe of how sure of yourself you were.
It was so easy to fall for you. Hell, you basically had a line of guys waiting for the chance.
The two of you didn't get close until English seminar sophomore year of college. You recognized him from your freshman door the previous year when he saw you as the woman of his dreams. After 12 months since the initial interaction, he finally got your number to work on a group assignment.
The friendship began to blossom the more you hung out. You two would try to study together, but often got sidetracked in the library and got nothing accomplished. Those were some of Kai's favorite moments where you two were try to keep quiet in the library, not wanting to disturb those actually trying to be productive as you broke out into giggles.
You infiltrated every thought of his, day and night. During the day, he wondered if you were okay, what you were up to. He tried so desperately to hangout with you whenever he could. At night, you were the one he thought about when he had his cock in his fist. He thought of the way that every shirt looked like it was painted on you, showing off your chest deliciously.
Yet, he saw you as a close friend. He never wanted to jeopardize the friendship. But after encouragement from his best friends, he had to take the risk.
He couldn't believe you actually said yes.
For the past hour, Kai has been frantically trying to get his room together. He shoved all his dirty clothes in the closet, made his bed, and lit a candle to make sure it smelled good. God, the things he would do for you.
Ding.
He glanced towards the foot of his bed to see his phone light up. His heart raced seeing your name flash on the home screen. "Kai, please come open the door! I'm cold!"
Shit. He quickly responded to your message so you knew he was on his way. He dropped his phone on the bed before rushing downstairs to get you. He ignored all the eager stares as the boys were gathered in the living room, watching TV but also wanting to give enough space for Kai upstairs. They just also wanted to catch a glimpse of the show before it got started behind closed doors.
He unlocked the top lock of the door and opened it for you. Your cheeks were a bit red from the dipping temperatures of early January. Yet, your hair was perfectly curled, You were wearing a pair of grey sweatpants, being seen from the black winter jacket you were bundled up in. How could someone look so adorable?
"Finally," you teased. You stepped into the house, hugging Kai and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
From behind him, you heard the four boys cheer on their friend. You giggled playfully at their antics even though Kai was groaning. As you got close to Kai, you were quickly introduced to his four best friends, so this was no surprise to you. "Hello stalkers," you called out, referring to how they were spying on you two.
They all muttered a greeting before trying to turn their attention to the TV. If only it had been on then maybe they could have gotten away with it.
Your attention turned back to Kai. As your hands warmed up, you were able to free yourself from the confines of your winter jacket. As it unzipped, it revealed the tight black ribbed long sleeve you had underneath. It shoved off your midriff a bit too. Adorable and so alluring.
"Come on, let's go," you whispered. Kai cleared his throat, realizing he hadn't properly spoken to you since your arrival. Yet, he didn't get a chance. You took hold of his hand, slipping your fingers in between before leading him up the staircase as if you were the one who actually lived here. Once again, the boys downstairs made sure to be very vocal about their approval.
As you approached the top of the staircase, he noticed your body still. Time for him to take charge. He tugged on your hand a bit before he took the lead. "I got it from here, y/n," he chuckled. "Ah, he speaks," you teased before squeezing his hand affectionately. Kai was grateful to be in front of you so you couldn't see his red cheeks.
Soon, you were in his room. He allowed you to enter first before closing the door behind him. His thumb pushed the lock button before he slowly followed you into the room, eyeing you. He both opened you felt comfortable in his room but he was eagerly taking you in.
You were a work of art in his eyes. Your hair was flowing down your back in loose waves. He adored the little freckles and moles that covered your cheeks. His imagination was starting to get the better of him as he began to wonder what you were hiding underneath your clothes.
However, you brought him back to reality as you grabbed his hand. "Kai, sweetie, wanna come join me in the moment?" You asked softly.
He didn't have to be told twice. Kai walked over towards the bed, going to sit towards the front of his bed. Seeing that he followed, you grinned. This was going to be an interesting night.
You slipped your hand out of Kai's so he could comfortably get on his bed. He ran his hands through his hair as he situated himself. He was undoubtedly nervous but also very excited. Dreams really do come true.
"So, what do-" he froze as his eyes finally looked up at you. His jaw fell slightly open to see you had already stripped down to your panties and underwear. He never thought he would get the infamous y/n in his bedroom. Let alone get you half naked.
Seeing your curves for the first time, he was taking in the sight. He was mesmerized but he way your bra was holding up your breasts yet it looked like you were about to spill out of it. His mouth watered seeing your panties hug your hips.
His hands reached out for you. You couldn't help but giggle and slip your hands into his. Kai always took great care of you, so this was no surprise. You allowed him to pull you onto his bed. With his back against his headboard, you straddled and settled into his lap. You let go of his hands so they could rest on his shoulders, stabilizing yourself. His hands resorted to your hips. "Kai, can you take off my bra?"
He nodded his head so fast, you thought it was going to pop off his head. You lead forward to press gentle kisses into the side of his face, working your way down his jawline. You followed it to his neck. All the while, his hands moved from your hips to your upper back. You shivered slightly at the feeling of his fingers, a bit cold yet light. It caused goosebumps to rise on your skin. You could also feel how hard he was becoming against your inner thigh.
Your lips moved down to his neck. Slow and open-mouthed. He groaned lightly at the feeling. His fingers fumbled for the clasp. You thought it was adorable as he seemed to lose focus the moment his breathing hitched when you kissed a particular spot on his neck.
Slowly, you leaned back. Winking at him, you helped guide his hands in the removal of your bra. You let the straps fall down as it was loosened, eventually falling into his lap.
"Like what you see?" You asked softly. His eyes were large as he looked at your breasts. He wasn't even trying to be discreet about it. He couldn't get over that after years of fantasizing about you, he was finally getting to experience what it is like to be intimate. Especially with you.
"Y/n, I fucking love what I see." "You know, I would feel a lot more comfortable if you took off some clothes too."
Of course. He would do anything you asked of him. He began to slip off the hoodie from his body while your fingers began to play with the string of his own sweatpants. Just enough to drive him desperate. But that wasn't hard to do, as Kai as been lusting for you for a while now.
His shirt joined your clothing on the floor. You first lifted your own hips so you could slip your panties off. Once you had loosened his own sweatpants, he pushed them down his thighs. You assisted in discarding his pants by shoving them down his legs so he could kick them off.
You were a bit surprised to see Kai had no boxers on. His cock immediately slapping against his abdomen. Honestly, you weren't sure what to be expecting out of Kai when it comes to his cock, but you weren't disappointed. If anything, it made you a bit eager to have him inside of you.
Kai seemed to be at a loss for words. His jaw hung open once again. You couldn't help but giggle as you scooted back up into his lap. He groaned at the feeling of your exposed pussy against him, feeling how warm and wet you were. Your fingers gently rested on his chin, pushing up. Your other hand ran down the length of his arm.
"Baby boy," you cooed. "Close your mouth. You might catch flies." "I can't help it. Fuck, you're so beautiful. Better than I could ever imagine." "So you think about me while you masturbate?" You asked, a bit of a playful tone in your voice.
His eyes shot to yours, away from your breasts that seemed to bounce with each breath you took. How the fuck did you know that?
You allowed your hand that was on his arm to slip down gently, making sure your feather was light. "So, lesson number one. You always want to make sure the girl you hook up with his wet enough."
"Y/n, you're cute. I've watched porn before. I don't need a step by step tutorial," he whined out.
You giggled and nodded. Kai decided to take the initiative. This was practically a one-in-a-lifetime experience. He didn't want to look back on his night and instantly regret it. With your hand guiding his, he instantly moved his hand to push your thighs a bit more apart.
His fingers at first ran up your inner thigh. This time, your breathing hitched which helped his confidence boost. He liked knowing you were enjoying yourself, even if the two of you were just getting started. Slowly, his fingers ran up until he go to touch your pussy.
At the first touch, he honest to God thought he was going to cum. You were so wet already. His fingers ran up and down your pussy gently, not wanting to be too rough. You shivered at the feeling. A soft whimper left your lips as you felt his calloused fingertips from playing guitar against your pussy. "Kai, can you please finger me?" You whimpered. "H-How many fingers?" He asked nervously.
You giggled at him. You found him too adorable but he didn't want you to see him as adorable. He wanted you to be as enchanted by him as you. Kai's biggest fear was you ending up regretting this night.
Deciding not to wait for your instructions, he slipped two fingers into you. Your jaw dropped at the feeling, tilting your head back. "Yes, Kai, baby." The sound of the petname made his cock twitch. It was innocent yet coming from your lips meant everything. He thrusted his fingers into you slowly at first until he realized he was yearning to hear you whimper. He decided to try something out he watched in a porn video once. His fingers curled inward which caused you to moan out. Perfect.
He gently kept curling and uncurling his fingers. This time, your jaw dropped and your eyes fluttered shut. Pleasure coursed through your body. He spread his two fingers, groaning himself now as he felt how tight you were. God, you were perfect to him.
In response, your hand on his face moved to grip the hair on the back of the hair. That night, Kai learned that he loved the feeling of his hair being touched. Or maybe it was just the feeling of your fingers in his hair.
"Faster, please," you begged softly. His heart trembled before abiding by your request. He began moving his fingers faster and a bit deeper. His knuckles are now in your pussy. Your pussy was practically sucking in his whole hand. But this wasn't how you wanted to cum. You didn't want to get too overstimulated and to enjoy the feeling of Kai fucking you.
Your hand moved to rest on his, squeezing to try to get him to stop his motions. Afraid he had hurt you, his eyes shot up to your face. "Y/n, are you ok? Did I hurt you? Did I go too fast? Fuck, I'm so sorry." He was a blabbering mess, which you found endearing. Your heart swelled as you nodded. That just made him panic even more as he didn't know what you were nodding yes to. "Kai, sweetie, I'm okay," you promised him. Your tone was light, breathless from the pleasure coursing through your body as your pussy walls indeed were squeezing Kai's fingers. He wanted to believe you but he was still hesitant. "I just need your dick inside me, please."
There was no doubting what you said that time. He slowly moved his fingers away from your pussy. He eyed down at your pussy, almost lost in the moment. He noticed the way his fingers glistened due to your wetness causing his dick to twitch with attention.
You couldn't help but take matters into your hands. You just needed him. One of your hands moved back to his shoulder, using it as leverage and also squeezing it reassuringly. Your other hand took a hold of his hand, which sent Kai into a moaning mess. Your touch was light, yet so warm and so heavenly. He could never jerk himself off after experiencing your touch.
You gently moved Kai's cock until his tip pressed against your pussy, both of you craving the closeness. His cock wanting to slip in, but he respected that you were in charge here. He didn't want to make any sudden moves that could risk ending this right before you two get started.
Before Kai could even speak, even check in to see if you were comfortable, you slid down onto his length. You both moaned out at the sensation. Kai has never experienced something so magical. Your pussy lips wrapped around his cock, enveloping him. You, on the other hand, never felt someone stretch you out so deliciously. "Fuck Kai," you breathed out.
Kai trembled at the feeling of your pussy walls around his cock. So warm. So wet. So tight. He's never experienced something so heavenly before. If this was the way he perished, with your pussy clinging onto his cock, he'd die a happy man.
Cautiously, you began to move your hips up and down his cock. You were testing the waters. Not wanting to overstimulate the poor guy, especially since this was his first time. Yet, you were getting needier by the passing moment as his cock was stationary inside of you.
His head rolled back, fingers digging into your hips. You were at his mercy. He was overwhelmed in the best way by feeling how you moved up and down his cock.
And to you, you were mesmerized by the sight in front of you. His chest was rising and falling. His curly brown hair was sticking to his forehead from being so worked up. He had to close his eyes for a moment, resting his eyelashes against his soft cheeks. You've never been with a man who seemed that captivated by you, both physically and emotionally. It made your heart swell.
You whimpered loudly as Kai reached the parts of you no man has ever before. You moaned out his name which seemed to make him harder, even if that was possible. He tried helping you move up and down his cock a bit faster, wanting to make sure you both were feeling good.
"H-How is it, baby?" He asked nervously, biting on his lower lip. You wanted to melt and cry from how adorable he was in such a heated moment.
Both of your hands cupped his face. Your thumbs caressed his flushed cheeks, gazing into his eyes. "So fucking perfect, Kai," you breathed out.
You normally weren't the type to take the lead like this. But something about Kai screamed that you should. You saw it as the opportunity to make him feel the best he's ever felt. Deep down, you've always recognized that Huening Kai viewed you in a special light. Getting to see him so vulnerable just sent your heart racing.
His eyes weekend as he felt his cock twitching furiously and that tight feeling in his abdomen. He didn't want this moment to dent. He wanted to die buried in your sweet pussy. "Y/n," he whimpered. "I-I'm sorry, I'm close. I can hold off if you need me to," he tried rationalizing. How cute.
Shaking your head, you whimpered as your walls got tighter around him. You were there with him. You were here in the moment with him. "N-No Kai, sweetie, it's ok. We'll cum together," you whimpered. He looking all over, almost as if he was trying to figure out what to do as you didn't stop your hips. Taking note, you giggled and leaned forward. "It's okay to cum in me, Kai. I have an IUD," you murmured, kissing the corner of his lips.
He groaned hearing you. His grip tightened as he began to thrust up into you, wanting to bring you as much pleasure as possible. With him so deep inside of you, you felt like you could see the stars. There was nothing better than this.
Soon, both of you felt that feeling in your abdomens snap. You cried out in pleasure as Kai moaned out, his forehead moving to rest on your shoulder. Your toes curled, body shook. He was trembling as he held you close. Hot spurts of his cum coating your insides.
The heavy breathing from the two of you filled the room. His cock started to soften inside of you but you two couldn't bring yourselves to move. Your hand moved up to play with the curls on the back of his head while his fingers ran up and down your body soothingly, almost as if he was trying to help the tremors out of your system.
"Thank you so much," he whispered against your skin.
You couldn't help but giggle. Your lips found his forehead, leaving a lingering kiss. "What are friends for."

YEONJUN
I really don't think he'd care considering he's pretty fluent in English. He would definitely like to learn things about your culture, traditions, etc that you do and would love to be more educated on it. Talking and communicating wouldn't be a problem at all although I think he'd be so touched and feel so loved if you tried and learn korean for him, even if it's just the basics or some sentences. Literal heart eyes dude w/ the fondest smile. I think he's interested in visiting your home town and places you love. hes very sweet and open minded.
SOOBIN
I feel like he also wouldn't care too much but would prefer if you knew some Korean but wouldn't really bother him too much if you didn't. I can see him being fascinated by some foods or other things that you eat or watch that isn't really where he grew up and is so interested, resulting in him asking lots of questions. He tries to be respectful too if you have a religion or a tradition so he's definitely educated more on things. He hates when you or him get judgmental stares because you're an american / foreigner.
BEOMGYU
I don't think he prefers it but I don't think he'd be against trying it or wouldn't fall for one. You probably would have to give him some lessons more so on pronunciations rather than English itself but only if he asks, he sometimes do. I think he'd forget sometimes you're a foreigner so when you don't understand sum he's like ???? ...ohhhhh lemme explain, lol. But he doesn't really act differently with you tbh, would definitely offer teaching you Korean a lot though lol. Definitely isn't embarrassing by you being a foreigner though.
TAEHYUN
I think he wouldn't care too much, maybe not his preference but I don't think he'd judge, he's the sweetest dude. Very open minded. I think he'd be nervous asf to meet your family or friends because even tho he's good In English I feel like he doesn't want to say anything bad???? Or worried about his pronunciation. Obviously not, but he just wants to be approved and be able to be with you still. He also wishes to take you places you've never been before that he loves or used to go to all the time when he was younger and meeting his family and friends. Idk he's just the cutest.
HUENINGKAI
Would definitely want to eat food and snacks and go places where you went too a lot as a kid or really liked and just walk and have a good time together. He would love to do the same with his home town and take you there to show you different things he also grew up with. You're definitely meeting his family too but family is very important to him and they're very accepting of you. I js think bc he's also half American he's very accepting and is just happy to be with you.

Like, being paired up for challenges is hell for everyone else bc of how chaotic you two bitches are LMAO They sometimes will BEG to switch but just for shits and giggles the staff refuse to change the pairing bc it's funny n entertaining
He's def the one to act so brother like towards you
Like, he'll always come up to you and start punching you or sum but not enough to touch you just really close, but he's never actually touched you or hurt you
Idk dude it's js a brother thing apparently
Y'all are so sibling coded lol Rather you're older or younger, I think he'll still act like either an annoying little brother who admires his older sister or the annoying yet very caring (a little protective?) older brother with his little sister
Eats food with you all the time
There's been far too many times where he's made you starve and wait while he got his food js so y'all could eat together
Sorry pooks you gotta wait to eat, get used to it

Y'all spoil each other
Although you probably buy food for him most of the time while he'll buy you food on special occasions

A/N I've had this is my drafts for far tooooo long and I figured to js post this to get sum out cause I have zero motivation.
txt reactions when you fall asleep on a couch (_ _ )z

a/n ✧ this is my first try at group reactions and i hope they’re ok. i would love to do more of these with requests of what to do. i would gladly take requests (also thank you for the likes!)

✧ YEONJUN
he’d been showering before he’d join you to watch a movie together but he took longer than you expected.
he found you fast sleep on the couch, pillows propping your head up and a blanket draped over your legs and waist.
ofc this man would find you very adorable, covering his wide smile as he fondly takes a pictures to stop himself from saying how cute you are out loud (he doesn’t want to wake u up.. yet)
he’d leave you to tidy up your bedroom so he could wake you up and take you to bed.
insisting he hold you bridal style back to bed, you held onto him weakly and he brought you to bed safely.
you two got cozy in bed, in each other’s arms, and yeonjun’s smile didn’t fade even after falling into deep sleep.
✩ SOOBIN
soobin promised you that the two of you would head back home before your heels would cause you pain.
the party and you and soobin went to was amazing and lively but at what cost when you could feel the blisters developing on the back of ankle
soobin found himself deep in a conversation with a friend of his and you found a soft couch to land on and take off your heels.
the couch felt like heaven and your feet felt way better that you drifted to sleep on the couch.
soobin ended the conversation, knowing that’s it late and he should get you home and when he finds you on the couch asleep, he doesn’t want to disturb you.
he brings a chair beside you, as you took up all of the small couch, and admired you silently. he’d ease you awake by playing with your hair.
he’d eventually get you fully awake, carry you (along with your heels) to the car, and head home to sleep properly.
✧ BEOMGYU
you and beomgyu travelled to place similar to ikea to browse furniture and also to mess around
you and beomgyu faking a dinner in a simulation kitchen and laughing when he hit his head with a cabinet (you felt bad but couldn’t stop laughing)
it baffles you how fast you got exhausted with him, and it didn’t help when beomgyu invited you to test out some couches
he’d stretch his arms out to you, whining“lay with me”, and you’d roll your eyes and join him.
he made them really comfortable and the third one, beomgyu joked if you both could lay here for a minute or so.
so he did and it didn’t help you at all, your blinks got heavy and you didn’t want to fall asleep in a store but you did
beomgyu could tell you feel asleep when he moved his head and you held him tighter.
he thought you were absolutely adorable, and totally would buy the couch now so he wouldn’t have to move you or disturb your nap.
he said to you he’d love to snuggle at home as he woke you back up.
✩ TAEHYUN
taehyun had an opportunity to take you along with him to a friend meet up dinner.
the place you ate at was really elegant and the food was really delicious.
a bit too delicious that you ate more than you normally would.
food coma hit you as soon as taehyun and his friends excused themselves from the table to go to the bathroom. you were left in the booth alone where you all sat - absolutely full.
you only rested your head down on the seat to rest but you ended up falling asleep.
and it seemed like you were drunk because you were out cold and one of taehyun’s friends asked if he had let you drink.
which he laughed at, and gave you a bit more time to sleep. you can’t sleep there forever and taehyun knew there was a way more comfortable bed waiting for you at home.
taehyun woke you up and adorned a smile, softly speaking to you. “let’s get you home cutie.”
✧ KAI
you and kai had spent a good chunk of the afternoon building a couch you got from ikea
many troubles of finding pieces and having to double check lead to being very tired.
you built it and enjoyed the couch in its glory, sitting and then stretching along the cushions
kai thought drinks would be refreshing after this hard work so he excused himself to go get some from the kitchen.
he spent a bit deciding whether water or lemonade would be more refreshing and ultimately picked water.
he came back and saw that you fell asleep and he found it endearing. he understood and was curious for himself of how comfortable this couch was.
without hesitation, and with the same fatigue, kai joined you on the couch and fell asleep beside you.
opening his eyes later to bring you into his chest so you could snuggle better.
stop as a mexican moa i cried. tears were dropped today in the most positive way 💗💗. love you and your work 🥰🥰
txt x latina!reader
a/n: I know some people said not to write this but I desperately want to :( I think this is really self-indulgent but I hope at least one or two people will enjoy this post and maybe find it comforting or relateable. Latina!MOA, I love you !!!

yeonjun
the first thing that came to my head was him getting along with any siblings/cousins you may have
hispanic families are pretty big and he really enjoys being around everyone and getting to know your family
all the tias also try to steal him away from you and like to ask him all kinds of questions about his jobs
they're all impressed with him and he's all red because all the attention makes him shy
later on, they text you being all like "congrats mija, you picked a good one"
I also feel like he would want to impress your parents so badly
he wants to make a great first impression so he bring your mom a pretty bouquet of her favorite flowers and a necklace ("ay no! pesto es de marca buena!")
for your dad, he brings him a fancy liquor bottle and something else he has an interest in (he begs for your help to find the perfect gift and you're all like, "don't worry! he doesn't worry about being gifted things"
ends up buying him fancy watch and your dad is just in shock with the Rolex in his hand
he makes a great impression for say the least
you mom texts him to check on your when you haven't checked in and they even hang out by themselves when you visit home. she called him "hijito"
your dad is a little skeptical (because who's dad isn't) but eventually comes around when yeonjun invites him to a sporting event together. they have a couple drinks, get to talking and he expresses that his intentions with you are serious, which pleases your dad.
soobin
he's so shy when you tell him that your parents are coming to visit because he hadn't thought it would happen so soon
he was only doing practice schedules for that week so he was able to spend time with them when he got home
he begs you to teach him some Spanish so that he can make a good impression and try him best to connect with them, even if they also speak English.
he comes home one night and they're in the living room, you in the kitchen fixing up dinner...he's frozen but manages a small wave and a little "hola~"
your mama finds him very sweet looking and gets up, going him a hug and squishing one of his doughy cheeks.
your dad on the other hand...not very impressed...(latino dads like the mach types for their baby girls and soobin isn't very...yknow)
he notices this and walks over to shake his hand, which your dad reluctantly does
you come into the living room and call everyone for dinner, which happened to be pozole since it was super cold out
soobin loves the meal and it impresses your parents (you've been feeding him mexican dishes to prepare him for their visit and he loves them so you gave nothing to worry about)
you have to facilitate the conversation but the night ends without incident
the next day, you and soobin take your parents out to some sights
he does his best to explain where they were in the little English and Spanish he knew and you're parents appreciate his effort
he buys meals and pays for all four of you and they urge him not to but he insists because he wants to prove that he cares about them and takes care of you on the daily
they enjoy their trip and overall approve of him
beomgyu
he knew that you were hispanic when you first started dating and also begged you to teach him some Spanish so he can impress your parents when he eventually meets them
once you express your family dynamic with him, he becomes a little more understanding
he knew that you struggled to get along with your family because of the choice you'd made to move abroad but never fully understood it until one day when your parents had called you
he had just come home from filming a To Do with the boys that day and he heard you on the phone, so he sat next to you
you let him say hello and he got up and walked off to take a shower
the conversation, like it so often happens to, switch to the topic of you moving away and when you were going to come back
when you let them know you're not coming back and they you were established and had a boyfriend, your mom and dad started to get upset, once again
something a long the lines of "Hija, you can't seriously want to live there forever? What about your family? We miss you? Plus, you should really date someone a little different. Ese muchacho no es hombre."
you go off about how it's not fair how they try to guild you like this and immediately hang up
beomgyu heard a little bit of it and vaguely understood what they'd said so he comes to you to try to help you calm down a little
he holds you while you cry to him about the argument you just had and how they want you to go home and leave him for someone else
he comforts you so well
"I may not understand why they think it's okay to try and tell you what to do, but you're old enough to make your own choices and choose whoever you want to be with. I understand your culture is a little different from mine but I try to understand. we're gonna work this out and I'll make sure they like me."
your smile up and him and go about your night, making dinner and having a nice self care night since he knew you desperately needed it.
taehyun
this guy is so supportive of you, especially because he knows there are struggles that come along with being a foreigner
he is so interested in learning Spanish
he will sit there with you, textbook and notebook on the table, and go over grammar and vocab and everything
he loves practicing with you by saying sweet things and integrating vocab into everyday conversation
he really wants to impress you, and eventually your family
he also wants to connect with you on a deeper level
back to the being a foreigner thing...he really supports you and gets so angry when people say stuff about you in public
you were both at a cafe one time and an older woman kept staring at you
taehyun noticed and tried to move you behind him but she kept looking in your direction
she eventually comes up to you both and starts asking you a bunch of questions that weren't so kind and tyunnie was so annoyed and upset
you, being the nice person you are, patiently answered her questions even if they bothered you as well
once she left, tyun looked at you with his big pretty eyes and asked you if you were okay
you've also had younger girls, around your age, make snarky comments about you In public but taehyun knows exactly what to do in these scenarios
he pulls you in by your waist and kisses you just to shut them up
she loves your differences so much and celebrates them any chance he gets
huening kai
baby loves the food and when you speak to him in spanish
she loves the pet names in Spanish and says they somehow seem more sweet
his favorite would def be "mi amortico"
when you call him that he just melts into a puddle
his favorite one to call you is "bebe" because he thinks it perfectly captures you
like I said, he loves the food
when hes hungry, he now has the habit of just making a simple quesadilla just the way you taught him
he burns himself the first couple tries when flipping the tortilla with his bare hands but he gets the hang of it eventually
he hates that there isn't more Mexican food/ingredients in Korea but whenever its possible, he orders stuff online and surprises you with it!
he will want to learn all of the recipes you know and calls them your cooking dates
oh my goodness...when he meets you parents
they think he's kind of goofy looking (something my parents would say) but they would ultimately deem him a sweet boy
I feel like he is a grandmas boy so he is sticking to your grandma and you the whole time
your grandma feeds him tortillas with limon y sal and he is just so happy eating them
he also wants to learn Spanish so he can communicate better with abuelita (and you ig LMAO)
he loves your culture and how lively it is
he loves dancing with you at these family parties

-
Moving out was always scary. It's a big step into the real world. It's always nice to have a friend by your side.
Especially when that friend is Taehyun...
I look over to see Taehyun smiling at the movie we're watching. I can't help but smile to myself as I watch my best friend. His tapioca pearl eyes glisten with the bright tv, illuminating his face.
"You okay?" I jump at the sudden voice. Taehyun looks at me worriedly. "Yeah, I'm good, just thinking," I say with a closed-mouth smile. He pats my knee and continues to watch the movie. He drapes the blanket that's on him over the both of us, quickly stealing glances.
~
"I'm off to bed, you should probably get some rest as well, Y/n." Taehyun yawns patting my head. "Goodnight," He continues walking towards his bedroom.
"Goodnight!" I yell out so he can hear me. I fold up the blanket and head over to my room as well.
As I curl up in the warm blankets, the room fills with rain softly hitting my window. Suddenly a loud crash of thunder fills the silence, causing me to jump. "Why.." I groan, seeing a flash of lighting. I quickly climb out of my bed and waddle over to Taehyun's room.
"Tae?" I gently open the door and I see him reading a book. His warm honey skin glowed with the dim tableside lamp. "Can I stay in here until it stops storming?" I softly ask. He slowly looks up at me and smiles, patting the empty side of the bed. I hear another crash of thunder and speed up my pace walking to his bed.
I climb under his soft covers and immediately am greeted with comfort. Crash! Thunder goes off and I hide in Taehyun's arm. I hear him chuckle as he strokes my head a little bit. "It's okay... I got you," He reassures. He puts away his book, getting himself comfortable in his bed. He faces me and strokes my arm. "I got you," He continues to reassure.
I don't know what came over me but with our sleeping arrangements, his addicting voice, and the comfort of being with him; I had my hand on his face and pressed my lips against his. Tae didn't even wait for a second to kiss me back as if he were waiting for it. His large hands quickly grab my waist and pull me towards him. "Y/n... why are we doing this?" He abruptly stops and rests his forehead on mine.
"I don't know... but please don't stop." he reconnects his lips to mine. His arm lightly holds my waist. He's my best friend... and I know we should stop... But I don't want to. His lips are so warm and his bed is so comfortable. Everything about this moment is perfect.
Taehyun's soft hands reach behind my back, pulling me close to him. Our chests touch and our kiss stay gentle.
His tongue dances with mine and my eyes open, seeing his beautiful features up close. I smile into the kiss and he does as well. "Y/n, you're so beautiful," He mumbles into my mouth as he continues to kiss me. He grips my waist, desperately trying to keep me closer. I rub his face with my thumb and enjoy the feeling of being so close to Taehyun. Alas, the beautiful moment comes to an end when a loud crash of thunder booms through the room and I immediately hide under the quilt with a yelp.
"It's okay, I got you. You're safe with me." Tyun holds onto me and quietly hums. The warmth from his body and the comfort of the situation slowly lulls me into sleep.
~
The Next Morning
"Mmg," I let out a loud groan as I stretch. I open my eyes and see I'm in my own bedroom. How did I get in here? I stand up and exit my bedroom looking around to find Taehyun. There I see him, standing in the kitchen, cooking something for breakfast.
He looks up but quickly shifts his eyes away. "Goodmorning," I said while yawning. I open the cabinet to get a cup for some water. He makes a soft hum sound, finishing up with the food.
"May you set the table so we can eat?" He quietly asks, avoiding my gaze. What's up with him? I set the table, occasionally watching him. "Okay, breakfast is done," He announces monotonously. We both sit down to eat and he picks at his food.
"Are you okay?" I finally asked breaking the silence. He nods, still avoiding eye contact. We continue eating. I'm really not enjoying how quiet this all is. He won't look at me or talk to me. "This is really good, Taehyun," nothing but a nod.
"Kang Taehyun look at me goddamnit!" My hands make contact with the table, shocking Taehyun. He gasps and lets his mouth ajar. "Why are you avoiding me?" I'm worried about him and our relationship.
"I don't wanna talk about it," he mumbles walking towards his room. I stand up and follow him.
"Well too fucking bad, we're talking about i-"
"I'm in love with you! I'm in love with you, y/n!" He suddenly shouts, cutting me off. "Is that what you want?" My gaze softens as tears seem to fill his eyes.
"I don't know why you kissed me last night, but it was the best night ever. I really felt as if you and I were more than friends. I knew that you didn't feel that way about me, so I carried you back to your bed while you were fast asleep. I love you so much you have no idea." His voice remains shaky but he keeps himself together. I stare directly into his eyes before stepping closer to him. He shuts his eyes and a tear falls down his cheek. I quickly wipe it off but don't remove my hand from his face. His soft lips make contact with mine and I immediately force him to hold my waist.
His soft lips fit mine perfectly and he gently hums. I move my hands to his hair and he smiles. Taehyun pushes me towards the wall and holds me close. Eventually, he pulls away and rests his forehead on mine. "I never told you how I feel," I tease with a smile. Instantly, Taehyun pulls away and stares into my eyes. His big, glossy eyes stare worriedly into mine... I almost feel bad. "God, Taehyun I love you so much you have no idea. Every single day it just pains me that we're nothing but friends," We stand there in silence before he breaks out into a blushy smile.
"So... what now?"

❝ BUT THE CLOUDS ARE MOVING ❞ childhood friend!kai kamal huening.

“i’ve always liked you, you know? love, even.”
you’ve widened your eyes at the boy’s sudden confession, now afraid to peel them away from the sky dancing above you.
you’re afraid you might miss the rearrangement of the clouds that were always unnoticeable, even if it were just a mere second away. or maybe the bold change of colors in the sky that, were too, unnoticeable. you wanted to worry about missing anything but the slim chances of first love, even when yours has been— quite literally— standing before you your entire life.
you seem not to notice a lot of things.
laying down on the picnic blanket, you plan to close your eyes and pretend you've drifted off to sleep until you actually do, except in the far corner of your eye was a poor hueningkai staring back at you expectantly. “y/n?”
“he- hey! look at the clouds,” you managed to utter out, breath unsteady, “would you look at that. you like the color, don't you?”
“y/n,”
“huening,” you whined back in mimicry of his desperate tone. “but the clouds are moving. look at them. they-”
“y/n.” having had enough, hueningkai propped himself on his elbow to tilt your face upwards, blocking your view from the sky with his own face and brown tufts that slightly tickled your forehead. the tips of your noses brushed and you swore that if you two weren’t so close face-to-face then he would’ve easily made fun of how deepening red your cheeks were. “i like the color, but i don't love it.”
“but... but the clouds... they're...” you sighed in defeat, and the both of you knew that it wasn’t about the clouds anymore. “i'm... i'm… moving.”
kai smiled. “yeah, i know.” and swiftly, he's planted a kiss on your forehead before laying back down with a content shrug. “i'll wait.”
you’ve widened your eyes once again as you drummed your fingers onto the very spot that his lips have dared to touch. hueningkai chuckled at your expression and finally spared a glance at the sky. the clouds were moving. like a flock of sheep chasing in thrilled desperation for a place to call home. guided by its most beautiful imperfection of waves in slate blue, the flock was split into an endless count of row after row after row… were the clouds pink? they seem to have a peach hue kissed by the sun, almost. but you were right, he could get used to a color like this.
“you know i always will.” he murmured, slipping his hand into yours as a fit that was meant to be. your fingers intertwined and you unknowingly tightened your grip onto his.
yeah, you know.

𖧷 "oo, it's so pretty in here," you say in awe as you enter the room, the rainbow lights on the brightly colored arcade machines. kai, your best friend, who's holding the door, walks in behind you. before he could agree, you rush off to the first game you see.
the arcade is mostly empty. the only people to be seen are tired employees sipping fountain drinks and chatting. you look around and scope the scene, looking for your favorite games.
you bounce between games and machines, gaining tickets. you play against kai in air hockey and beat him by a landslide. kai challenges you to a rematch, and this time, he wins. ignoring how he rubs it in your face, you find more games to battle him in.
𖧷 "oh, come on! i beat you fair and square, didn't i? the rematch was winner-take-all, so i won!" he brags, and you roll your eyes, the playful banter between you always a source of amusement. but you'd never tell him that.
you rush to point at a claw machine, sliding in a few coins. you fiddle with the joystick, guiding the claw to hover above a cute plush penguin. you push the bottom beside the joystick, and the claw descends, clasping the arm of the blue penguin. it comes back up and takes the plush with it. it glides across the top of the machine.
as the plush penguin nears the prize slot, it falls short. you try again unsuccessfully, and after your fourth attempt, you give up. you whine and slump down a bit before you turn to look at kai. "hey, hyuka?"
𖧷 kai looks at you, already knowing what you're going to ask, and moves closer, inserting his coins. he does the same as you, but more methodically. this time, the claw successfully drops the plush into the prize slot. he retrieves it and offers it to you, and you accept it with a victorious smile, hugging it tightly.
"oh my god, he's so cute!! look at his little face; he looks just like you!!" you go into a cuteness aggression, squeezing the cheek of the plush and doing the same to kai.
you get blinded by the adorable face of the plush, and kai begins to pout. you both still stand in front of the claw machine, and he leans against it, observing you. jealousy bubbles in his chest as he watches you baby the cute stuffed animal.
𖧷 "i'm starting to think you like that penguin more than you like me," he jokes, but you still don't look up, reading the plush's tag. you finally speak up, thrilled. "his name's kai, too!"
you look up at him with big eyes, and he leans down to kiss you before he can even question himself. you can't even focus on kissing him back before it's over, and you mentally scold yourself for missing your chance.
he rushes to apologize. "oh my god, uhm, i'm sorry. your cheeks were red, and you looked so pretty with the lights on your face, but i should've asked—"
𖧷 "can i kiss you?" you cut his apologetic rant off, and he stares at you dumbfounded. he nods, and you peck him lightly. once you pull back, kai takes the penguin into his hands and looks at him. "can we have shared custody? he's really cute, actually."
your stomach growls after you walk around the arcade and have a long conversation about your new son. kai giggles under his breath. "wanna get some pizza?" you perk up at his offer and skip over to the food counter.
"as long as you're paying!"

PHONING... 𓂃 ࣪˖ birthday.

Over the years, you’ve become jaded of your dream to find a love that would provide a home for your heart. One chance encounter is enough to change those days forever.

જ⁀➴♡ wc 2k ✧ fluff , huening kai x reader

As a child, you would drift in and out of libraries filled with dead poets and their musky scent. Pages upon pages filled with musings of love long lost, only immortalized on those pages that began to yellow and fade with time.
Most people found themself drawn to poems about love, searching for the words to describe what they all longed for— true romance.
Unlike them, you often found yourself fixating on the books that held the passage of time. Maybe there was something that the authors knew, something that would make it all make sense.
You held them in your hands and breathed them in wanting so much to be part of their world. To understand and learn from them— to find something to fight for.
The books told you one day your poetry would be whispered on the lips of your lover, that time would slow and all that would remain was your love.
It was within these pages that you found yourself believing that was the only thing time could never take away.

With this came the yearning and soon your birthday wishes were replaced with something of a much heavier weight.
Overtime, you grew to dislike your birthday. It wasn’t always like that, though.
One year you would love it, others you would hate it.
One thing that always remained was the feeling of loneliness, even while surrounded by people smiling and clapping.
Somehow your birthday felt excruciatingly long but never long enough.
The existential dread that would come with facing the fact you were getting older and empty self-made promises.
The ritual of blowing the candles, the cutting of the cake— the mess of cream and sponge in your mouth.
Always your favorite, never changing flavors overtime because who was it for, if not you?
The taste was sweet and familiar, like a newly formed wish, fashioned from all the ones you've made before.
Cake began to be the only thing you looked forward to as you got older, until eventually you stopped eating it altogether.
You don't remember the wishes you made in sequence or the things you ask for.
You only recall the ones you wanted the most, like the f/c scarf you saw in a shop’s display window when you were thirteen.
The admiration for how perfect the mannequin seemed to wear it, partnered with a perfectly coordinated outfit.
How deeply you yearned to wear it as flawlessly as it had, maybe then someone would see you and fall in love just how you did in that moment.
How deeply you felt its’ absence when you sat and stared at the litter of torn wrapping paper, empty new possessions littered around as you waited for the next one— only for it to never come.
And even though it was trivial to everyone else, your heart ached at its’ failing.
You found yourself wondering what the cause of such heartache was.
The books said that the greatest heartache came from loving another soul, beyond any doubt or reason.
It was with realizing this, you called yourself lucky to have never been in love with anyone as much as you’d been in love with that scarf.
As long as your love was directed towards the minuscule things, you would be safe.
Yet deep down, a part of you still yearned for someone to look at you and convince you to take that risk. So you would try over and over again, despite the promise of heartache, to find what you wanted.
To have someone to spend your birthday with.
After all, what was more poetic than one’s birthday?
A day spent celebrating your life and your future, reflecting on the past and wishing for your future.
Or facing the inevitable end, remembering your final destination.
And even though it wasn’t death you feared itself, the idea of facing it alone seemed devastating.
Your wishes always changed.
Like the year you turned fifteen and your best friend's mother got really sick.
Despite all the stories your friend had shared with you about their relationship, when you found her breaking down at the news: you felt that heartache again.
All you wanted was for her to be okay again.
It was that year you learned that shooting stars were either a blessing or a curse, depending on what you wanted to believe.
In your case, for that year, it seemed to be a curse.
On your seventeenth birthday, you found yourself falling in love for the first time. Or at least, you thought so in the moment.
Walking out of your front door anxiously fidgeting with the bottom of your shirt as you made your way to his car, only for him to meet you halfway.
Standing on the sidewalk where he brought you red roses and a promising smile.
“Happy birthday.” He said.
When he broke your heart, you cried for days.
Many birthdays came and went.
One by one, you loved them and just as easily, they were lost to you.
Somewhere amidst the carnations and mistletoe you slowly learned more about love than the books ever told.
Love was messy and almost unattainable. Love was seemingly temporary, but inevitably painful.
Little by little, your heart that was once a bouquet of hope and ecstasy blossomed into one of tenderness and betrayal.
You wondered if you would ever be able to shed that loneliness that came every year, always the same day.
Then you met him.
Your meeting was clumsy and unusual, just like him as he flashed you a friendly smile and uttered a quick apology.
You stood in the doorway with the box of a now crooked birthday cake, dumbfounded.
It wasn’t until he waved his hand in front of your face and asked if you were okay that you had snapped out of it.
“I’m… okay.” Your voice was hesitant, unsure of how to proceed.
Everything in your heart yelled at you to keep the conversation going— to say anything to keep him here, in this moment.
“I’m not so sure about my cake, though.”
Looking down to realize the cake that was once decorated with intricate roses and beautiful cursive lettering was now lopsided and smudged, he furrowed his eyebrows.
“We should fix that then.” And he smiled, signaling for you to follow him back into the bakery the two of you had collided in front of.
The two of you had waited in the line to the register to explain the situation and see if there was any hope for you to get a quick replacement.
A face straight out of a magazine, it was a miracle you hadn’t recognized him. Longing glances and the sound of whispers nearby should have tipped you off but to you, everything besides his voicr was simply white noise.
Holding your breath next to the handsome stranger, you found yourself hoping that the line would never move.
“Huening Kai, by the way.”
“Huh?”
“I said Huening Kai, that’s my name.” His voice was patient and even bubbly.
“Oh.” Was all you could say.
“I really hope your friends’ birthday doesn’t get ruined— I should have been watching where I was going, haha…” He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck and you found yourself falling further into his boyish charms.
You felt much younger than you were, that feeling of your heart fluttering you only felt once when that boy had given you roses.
How special he must have been to give you that simply by smiling.
“It’s… my birthday, actually.” It took you a moment to admit and he must have noticed with how he nodded.
“Well, I hope I didn’t ruin your birthday then.”
“It’s really no problem, I’m not doing much anyways so… there really isn’t any need for you to get me a replacement.”
Pulling back on the idea, he seemed to pick up on the slight embarrassment you had.
“It was a beautiful cake, but it’s fine. Really.”
“A beautiful cake for a beautiful girl, right?”
The blood rushed to your cheeks and you swore you could have stumbled over from how lightheaded you became. And he simply laughed, quickly apologizing for his teasing.
“Haha I’m sorry, I just don’t know your name.”
In that line you stood, dressed in a messy accumulation of whatever clothes you could find in a rush out of your apartment and your hair tussled about.
You certainly didn’t feel beautiful but you found yourself believing his words, despite it all. Maybe you were the tiniest bit hopeful.
“Huh? Oh, it’s Y/N…”
“Right. Happy birthday, Y/N!”
You weren’t sure if he knew it then but in that moment, all of those wasted birthdays seemed worth it because you had endured them to get to that moment.
The moment he came into your life, the best birthday gift you could ever ask for.
Without even knowing who he was prior, Huening Kai was the first man you fell in love with, completely and beyond reason, beyond any shadow of doubt you knew. You finally understood was the books spoke of.
He brought you dandelions each date.
You asked him why, if he thought they were pretty.
“They’re as pretty as you~” He’d joke.
The real reason, you later found out, was so you would never want for wishes.
Even on birthdays, he began to bring you that weed.
Somehow, you found the weed more romantic than any flowers you’d been given before simply for the meaning behind it.
A secret meaning just for the two of you.
It wasn’t a long time before the two of you had given yourselves to each other completely, jumping in head first.
It was your first birthday with him.
You never explained to him your distaste for your birthday but it didn’t stop him from encouraging the two of you to celebrate together.
Until then, it had always been the same every year. As soon as the first match was struck, the smell of burning takes you backward through your memory.
It stopped you right at that moment on that warm night, after your first heartbreak where you watched the first trickle of melting wax hit the icing and you found yourself crying for the love you thought you had lost.
Now there you were, the wax melting ever so slowly again, pouring down to deface the beautiful cake he had ordered for you. Combing through your memory, you tried to find something to wish for.
Something new or something old, it didn’t matter.
But you couldn't think of a single thing you had wanted— because he was standing there, in the lickering light, asking you to make a wish.
Messy blonde hair in his face as he leaned into his hoodie with that smile, the one you fell in love with had you holding your breath in the candlelight.
You looked deep into his eyes and saw the very best of yourself reflected back, all with love.
And you knew: he loved you, beyond reason, beyond doubt, and with no hope of salvation.
You knew your being happy was an anomaly and no one knew you better than he.
But for once, your resolve was firm and without avoiding his gaze, without crossing your fingers behind your back; or the other things you did when speaking untruthfully—you told him you were happy.
On your birthday, warm in the candlelight where your heart felt as if it were floating away.
The rain doesn’t discriminate between day or night and either will hold its own light and dark, you had learned over the years.
Through years of crying in bedroom closets, office cubicles and club bathrooms: the rain never discriminates.
You smiled nervously, feeling almost guilty for not having a wish. Despite this, you blew out the candles.
But as you went to confess your strange lack of want for anything materialistic or otherwise, he cut you off in that same playful voice.
“I love you, Y/N.”
And it was then you knew in your heart, you would always look back on that time-not without a sense of melancholy— that it was the happiest in your life.
Birthday or not, it didn’t matter anymore as long as you were with him.
After that, he never pressured you to celebrate again.
Some years the two of you had your cake and others, when your anxiety of mortality crept up on you, the two of you would treat it the same as any other day.
Of course it was the same as any other day but not without the extra caresses and gentle ‘I love you’s.
Kai hadn’t completely changed you or somehow healed that broken part of you by gifting you dandelions and pinky promises but that didn’t matter.
And now this was the year you were sure you would spend the rest of your lives together. The two of you had fallen completely in love, for the first and last time with each other.
This year where there weren't any candles— just the two of you walking late at night through the city streets with your heart in each other’s hands.
How thankful you were that you had given yourself to the first stranger who called you beautiful on your birthday.

Chronicles of the crumpled pages of poetry detailing past attempts at love can be found in the trash of your bedroom where you’re not a woman, but a girl instead. Through all the desperate yearning for love, only one flame was strong enough to make it out.

Dear Huening Kai,
I’m not really sure how to start this letter. I hope this finds you well seems devastatingly distant and cold, like I’m writing a business letter. I never wrote you a letter before, everything that we shared had been in the form of hushed whispers in the back of the classroom. Notes, surely I had written hundreds through the years. Eventually though, your desk no longer belonged to you and my notes found their place in the trash.
The final note, just as short as all the others had three words. I’m sure that you can guess what they were. My hands were clammy and the lettering was shaky but even still, I held that note close to my heart. I waited much longer than I should have— after the first week it should have been obvious that you weren’t returning to our sacred corner of the world.
I’m not sure why I’m writing this now after having crumpled that note away, hidden away inside of that class binder you’d scribbled on. The doodles made the both of us laugh in the moment but looking at them now just makes me miss our schooldays.
Anyways, these are the things that I want for you that I never got to tell you.

I want you to be happy. I want someone to know the warmth of your smile and to feel the way I did when I was in your presence. I’m sure you haven’t thought of me at all since you left but you saved my life back then by being my friend. I hope that I could have made you as happy as you made me.
When school was absolutely dreadful, we found each other. When everyone picked me last, you had always sought me out first. Maybe that’s why I believed you were the first boy I ever loved.
I want you to know how happy you made my years and though your leaving really did hurt me, in the end, I was better for it. I don't know if what we had was just puppy love, but if it wasn't, then I hope to never to fall deeper in love than I was with you.
Because of you, I know I’m too fragile to bear it.
My love has abandoned me, do with that what you will.
Love,
From, Y/N.

Dear Kang Taehyun,
Do you remember our first day? When I first saw you I was convinced you would be the romantic lead to finally convince me to take another chance at love. When we first spoke, I quickly came to realize that you weren’t— you were yourself and somehow, that was worse. Because I loved you more than any idealized version of you I had ever known.
Anyways, that first night the fog lifted and all around us were trees linking hands, like children playing. It reminded me of a boy I had known in my youth and suddenly I was 16 years old again desperately holding my feelings to my chest, afraid to speak as if the moment would slip away once more.
And somewhere along the way, messy confessions of admiration written on ripped out binder paper became carefully lettered confessions on parchment paper, sealed beautifully with wax only to never be opened.
Our first night, when you stood by the door, conflicted, as I sat there with my knees tucked under my chin, smiling. Then through the window, over the horizon was the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen. Soon, your breath was on my neck as compliments spilled from your lips in a whisper. When I shied away from your touch, the first boy to touch me, you told me I looked lovely and for the first time in my life: I had felt it.
I sometimes think about the fragility of glass— ofbroken shards tearing against soft skin. The prickly feeling of tears as you’d stare down at the red glossy blood beginning to seep out.
It was almost painful how you respected me— how you accepted my rejections with a gentle smile.
And in truth, it is the transparency of the glass that kills you. The pain of seeing through to something you can never quite touch and the sting that followed after.
Your arms around my waist, the cold wind coming through the window howled as the sea whispered with the scent of sea salt filling the room. That night had felt so intimate and special to me, how welcoming you had been to my fear.
When the morning came, you were off and the sea continued to whisper your name.
Come back to me.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Beomgyu,
I gave you the best of me— the year, the days, the hours. Precious little, in turn you’d given, like nutrients for a wilting flower. A last minute attempt at nurturing a broken heart. It had worked for the time. For that, I’m grateful.
I never said those three words to you— I wasn’t sure if I would be able to bring myself to. For anytime I had gotten close— to this idea of love— it had slipped away just beyond my reach.
I want you to remember my lips beneath your fingers and how you told me things you never told another soul.
Always the mood maker on camera, those glimpses into your soul that you had provided me were more special than you could have ever imagined.
Every moment between us had been captured with your camera. Now, I can’t recall if I had ever looked into your eyes without that thing in my face. For the sake of the memories, I let you have it. How dearly you loved that camera, I eventually hoped that could be me.
And those rare moments without it, on the quiet hood of your car as we sat looking up toward the sky were the ones I would remember forever. How you traced circles into my back as effortlessly as you would change the camera’s lens.
And my heart would skip at the thought that you were maybe, just maybe, beginning to know every inch of me as much as you knew that camera.
I want you to know that I have kept sacred everything you had entrusted in me and I always will.
Now I do wonder if there will be a morning when you'll wake up missing me as much as I missed miss you. I guiltily found myself hoping that some incident in your life would have finally taught you the value of my worth, that some poor girl much stronger than me would say the words that I longed to and mean it for the moment— only to break your heart in the end.
And you would feel a surge of longing, when you remember how I was good to you.
If that day ever comes then I hope you will look for me. I hope you will look with the kind of conviction that you’d always shown me, searching for me in every passing face.
Because I want to be found again. And I hope it’s you and the secrets you shared who find me.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Soobin,
Have you forgotten me?
Please tell me what you've heard, in passing between mutual friends’ gatherings and in memories dug up by algorithms beyond your control.
I guard your memory jealously because with you I'd placed my worth. Because after losing so much— you seemed so perfect. I was ready to give it all up. Everything.
I was officially half out of my mind with love.
And I didn't think twice about what I was throwing into the fire, as long as I could keep it burning for just another minute— if only I was allowed to sit awhile longer beside its pale glow with my head on your shoulder while your gentle hums lured me to sleep.
That was how I loved you in the end. With my body cold and shuddering, empty hands over smoldering ash, counting out the minutes for your return.
And eventually, like all the love before, I had to realize that you weren’t coming back.
There I sat by the sad pile of ash only accompanied by a lukewarm, bitter tasting beer. You had complained that my wine was much too sharp.
Even with you gone I found myself trying to cater towards your taste. Yet despite the arguments we would have, mostly at my own fault, I prayed for the moments you would come back and drag me back home with you.
You showed me the particular kind of suffering to be experienced when you love something so deeply that you end up burning yourself too close to the flame. A tender sacrifice.
Like bent and broken feet of a dancing ballerina, it was in every considered step I took in the opposite direction of you.
If I ever felt like home to you, it was because you were safe with me. I want you to know that most of all.
Maybe in another time, I could have been your home. I don’t know anymore.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Yeonjun,
It was in you that I had found everything I ever loved before and more, all at once.
Everything I had lost returned to me once more as if to remind me of what I would never have. Or maybe you were sent to give me hope again.
It was in the pained silence, comparable only to the lost song of a mermaid, I had come to terms with the fact that it was the first option.
At the place where you found me, under the half-moon and its half-light of the park. You said, if only you had met me there that night. Maybe we could have found our way. If we had met later on as more developed versions of ourselves, we could have stood a chance.
And I laughed, with no humor at all. Because at our age, it felt I had no more time to wait.
I learned something about sadness after that day, you ruffling my hair to comfort me before walking away without a goodbye or see you soon.
You showed me insanity like an open window, seven storeys high as I stared to the ground far below, teetering on the edge. And it was just as terrible and as beautiful as you and I.
Because I loved you— and I had finally said it, after so many years of chasing. I admitted to you: you were my everything.
With your arm around my shoulder as you entertained a group of people I couldn’t bother to remember the names of, I found myself looking up at you with pure adoration.
Suave and cool, you seemed to be everything love had told me I needed. Because with you, I was revered as well. Even to everyone around you: to be loved by you, I must have been special.
When your face fell at my confession, guilt evident on your face— I came to realize I must not have been special enough.
And you said pure bliss was a storm cloud, just before the rain would burst into the night sky, like a thousand aquatic stars-and not one single moment before.
And you were right. You were right about it all.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear, ▇▇▇▇
There were letters that I had wrote you that I gave up sending, long before I stopped writing. I don't remember their contents, but I can recall with absolute clarity, your name scrawled across the pages.
I could never quite contain you to those messy sheets of ink. I couldn’t stop you from overtaking everything else, writing for hours on end only to feel overwhelmed all over again at the building tower of papers in the trash.
Because any other letters written to all the boys I had loved before were never quite as visceral as yours.
I wrote your name over and over— on torn scraps of paper, on binders and on the back of my wrists. On mirrors as I stared back at myself, eyes puffy and wide with tears.
And I carved it like sacred markings into trees and thought of adding my own, only to realize how utterly and pathetically in love I must have seemed.
Passersby in the park would smile and whisper behind their hands: how beautiful was a girl in love?
To have carved your name into the trees and the tops of tabletops, you must have been so incredibly special. How lucky you were to be loved by me, they must have thought.
Sometimes when I read a book, parts will lift from the pages in an anagram of your name. The words on the page would move themselves around, shuffling in some twisted dance to fade into you. Like a code to remind me it's not over. It was never over.
And in the end, I find myself returning to you. Only you. In this first letter: the one that I’ll finally send, I’m lending my heart to you in hopes you’ll return to me.
Because as I was, and as I am— as I will always be,
I am completely and utterly yours.
And so I am sending this: baring my soul and heart to you. It has been beaten and bruised after all this time.
All I can hope is that you can learn to become very, very careful with this fragile heart. And in turn I will reflect all of the pain I have experienced throughout these years onto you, as it has been purified into this new form of love.
I’ll be waiting at our spot. Come find me.
Love, your Y/N.

Happy 5 year anniversary, my TXT. ♥︎

The carnival bursted at the seams with life under the moonlit sky. If your eyes had lost focus for even a moment it would fade into a kaleidoscope of lights over the bustling crowd.
The ambience was almost overwhelming to you, someone who didn’t know the world could be so loud outside of the safety net of your headphones.
Amidst the laughter and music, your group of friends had somehow found you waiting by the entrance pathway awkwardly. And suddenly, the scent of cotton candy and popcorn became the backdrop for your exciting night.
You found yourself anxious for what the night would bring, unaware of just how excited they were as well.

You, who walked the earth freely without your feet ever truly touch the ground. To anyone who passed by it seemed as if you floated by with the wind.
Many hands would reach for you but you, who were completely unaware, remained unanchored.
Belonging to no one, to nothing, to nowhere. Existing only in a world of music, your own little world.
It seemed that you only awarded your attention to people who you thought truly deserved it, so when you had agreed to go to the carnival with the group of boys they’d been ecstatic.
It had been a shock, in all honesty. Not for a lack of interest: you had been friends with them all for a long while, but you weren’t too keen on loud blowout events such as these and instead shied away from them. Your willingness to try and enjoy the night with them had them feeling grateful.
Soobin and Taehyun had been the most understanding initially, preferring much quiet nights in themselves with their own tendency to get annoyed by the recklessness of those around them.
Beomgyu understood but he had brought it up a few times before you had agreed, insisting that he would win you all the prizes on the fairgrounds if you came.
Kai hadn’t pressured you about it all considering he wasn’t a fan of the rides himself, not really wanting to go at all but tagging along to win some new plushies for his collection.
Yeonjun had bugged you, much more often than he would ever admit, but he couldn’t help it seeing as he just needed his best friend to come or the night would have been ruined.
Considering your distaste for these kinds of overwhelming events, you were fairly hard for the boys to make plans with. They were almost always busy doing something so when they did try to spend time together, it was usually doing fun stuff like this.
When they met you though, they were quick to recognize you for what you really were— a free spirit, a wandering star. Hard to pin down.
Yeonjun’s arm fit right on your shoulder like he was made to be there. And Kai’s grip on your sleeve didn’t feel like any extra weight, it somehow felt like an extension of you.
Taehyun’s laugh had become your favorite sound, along with the company of Soobin and Beomgyu’s constant teasing and bickering.
You grew to love your friends, any and all parts of them— you were sure that you would love them always, no matter where you were scattered throughout the galaxy.
And you had showed them what it means to hold something you can never really hold on to, always managing to slip away just in time before their confessions could stumble out.

“Looking good, Y/N! For someone who didn’t want to come you look like you put some effort in for me.”
His arm found its’ home on your shoulder as always, shifting his weight onto your frame and you rolled your eyes.
“For us?” Taehyun emphasized, waving to the other boys who followed.
Yeonjun’s eyes left you as he looked back at them and pouted out his lips with an annoyed look. “Eh.”
Confused, you gently pulled his arm off of you and turned to face him fully, leaning against the fencepost you stood at.
“I didn’t do anything different, you’re delusional.”
“Ignore him, he’s teasing you.” Soobin said before flashing you a small smile, hands placed in his pockets. “You do look nice though, like usual.”
Maybe it was the endless chatter of the people around you or the fact that said people who were rushing past you could probably hear the heartfelt compliments that had you flustered.
“Ah… thank you.”
Beomgyu fake gagged, hitting Soobin’s shoulder. “You guys aren’t subtle at all…”
Kai nodded in agreement. “It’s making me sick and I haven’t even had any cotton candy yet.”
Yeonjun’s eyes widened and he quickly waved at Beomgyu, “Eh— yeah and no way you’re gonna!” It was almost like he immediately entered himself as a substitute for their parental figures in that moment.
You found yourself hiding behind your hand as you laughed at his bewildered facial expression.
“Remember the last time? You spewed that junk all over me, I went back home looking like a troll!”
The topic of food had your mind wandering for a moment as you felt your stomach growl. Memories of going to fairs with your family as a child had hit you as you remembered what you used to enjoy before you shut away.
“…I’m kind of craving fried dough, actually.”
Taehyun turned to you, “we should get snacks, then.”
About to accept his offer, you nodded only to be cut off by Kai.
“No way, games and rides first and snacks later.”
Soobin shrugged, “why don’t we just get snacks halfway through the rides?”
Yeonjun let out an annoyed huff at your lack of attention, “yeah, yeah… fine. Let’s go.”
The six of you began making your way in, the colors bursting to life like a technicolor dream. In your opinion, it was all too much but the vibrant tents and swirling rides did pique your interest.
Taehyun snickered from beside you, “worried Beomgyu’s gonna get into a cotton candy coma again, huh?”
Beomgyu almost seemed embarrassed by what he was talking about as he turned to you with an expression of what seemed like mock offense. “It was’t that bad!”
“Tell that to my hair...” Yeonjun grumbled, nudging Soobin to switch places with him at your side.
“Whatever, your hairs fried to hell anyways!” Beomgyu said in a teasing tone.
Soobin gave Yeonjun a smile and instead turned toward you next to him, causing him to pout.
“Hey, why don’t we test our luck at the ring toss?“
You thought about it for a moment, glancing over at the tent to inspect the rewards. “For what? A goldfish?”
He shrugged.
Seeming as you ultimately came up with nothing of value from that tent, you turned your attention to the one next to it and smiled.
“Look, there’s a huge penguin plush. Kai needs it!”
Kai perked up at the mention of himself and looked over to the tent, eyes widening a bit at the size of the prize you were looking at. Despite that, he laughed.
“What? No he doesn’t, he’s practically drowning in th—“ you rolled your eyes at Yeonjun’s arguing.
“Wow, Yeonjun… don’t you want to make Kai happy? What if that penguin plush is the final one he ever gets? What if a meteor hits us right now? And we all die, sad and alone with no penguin to accompany us at our bitter end.”
You moved in front of the group of boys and grabbed Kai’s hand to lead him toward the tent.
“He doesn’t need it, Y/N. There’s a difference between need and want—“
“Okay, mom.” Beomgyu snickered and Yeonjun’s cheeks heated up out of embarrassment. All he wanted was to spend time with you, not do whatever this was.
“I do. I need it, or I’m gonna die.” Kai said, playing along with you. “Sad and alone.”
Putting on a panicked tone, you jumped back and pulled Yeonjun forward, pushing him in front of you as you shoved him toward the booth.
“Yeonjun!! He’s gonna die! Hurry, hurry! To the basketball booth!”
“Yah— Hey! Stop shoving me! And stop being so morbid!”
Next to you, Kai leaned on Yeonjun as he let out a dramatic groan. “Ugh… Y/N I don’t think I have much longer…”
Your eyes widened, “oh, no! Kai?! Nurse!! Nurse—!!”
Finally giving into your shenanigans, Yeonjun couldn’t help but crack a smile as he pushed Kai off of his shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah. I get it. Just stop yapping, you’re gonna get us dragged to the medical tent before Beomgyu even overdoses.”
“I’m not overdosing this time!!” Beomgyu called out behind you three.
When the six of you reach the tent, you wait patiently for the other patrons to leave with their prizes before you stood, motioning for Yeonjun to go. “You’re not gonna try?” He asked.
You laughed, “yeah. No way. Never, actually. Never been good at sports, don’t even wanna try.”
“Y/N… the hoops right there. It’s not even that far of a distance.” Soobin said.
Shooting him a glare, you motioned toward the booth. “Fine then, you try.” He jutted out his lips for a moment as if in deep thought then shrugged, situating himself next to Yeonjun.
The carny handed them their first basketballs before activating the rig, the hoops suddenly moving across the board in front of them.
Kai shot you a look and you shrugged.
Yeonjun was fairly confident that he could get some in, considering that he was arguably the best out of them at basketball.
Even with Soobin’s height, he was sure he could beat him.
Unfortunately for Yeonjun, your cheers of encouragement found him a bit too determined to try hard and impress you and he completely missed each shot, losing to Soobin by one single goal.
One that only fell into the hoop because Yeonjun’s ball had hit it directly into it.
That definitely hurt his ego a bit.
“Ouch! Cringe shot…”
“Thanks, Beomgyu.”
“You’re welcome!”
“So… what was the strategy there? Just wild flinging?” Taehyun asked and Yeonjun just let out a nervous laugh. “I guess I’m just off my game today.”
“Well… guess I’ll die.” You giggled at this and turned to Kai, raising your fist. “We’ll get you one of them later, promise.” He smiled and bumped his fist with yours.
“Plus, it’s not Yeonjun’s fault. Soobin just has such good luck when it comes to games, right?” You asked, following behind them as they started to walk.
“Or I’m just the best!” Soobin called after.

The scent of fried delights and sugary treats was thick in the air once more, the smell of more savory things than sweet making you wonder if you were now approaching the actual food area.
The mechanical whirring of the rides had you raising your voice as you all talked, “what about that?” You called.
They followed your eyes to see a few game machines lined up, you making your way over there.
“She’s doing really well,” Taehyun said happily.
Yeonjun nodded. “She is, isn’t she?”
Standing in front of the carnival games "Whack-a-Mole Madness," you poked at the buttons before realizing you had to enter a quarter.
Embarrassingly enough, before you could scramble around in your bag, Taehyun had come up and inserted a coin for you. You smiled sheepishly and gave him a quick thank you as he nodded, moving to the machine next to you.
“I wanna try,” Beomgyu exclaimed, rushing to the machine on your other side. “Here.” Taehyun reached over you, handing Beomgyu a coin as he thanked him.
The three of you grabbed the foam mallet and the machine began to ding wildly, colors flashing as you were tasked with squashing pesky mechanical moles as they popped up randomly from their burrows.
It was fun for a few moments before you found yourself growing irrationally annoyed at the moles that you kept missing. “Teach them a lesson, Y/N!”
With each successful whack, lights flash, bells ring, and the mole retreats into hiding, only to pop up again in another spot. You were doing fairly well, or so you thought, until you turned to Taehyun to see him expertly wack each one back down with ease.
Your eyes widened a bit, “you’re so good at it?!”
He raised an eyebrow at you. “You think so? Here, I’ll help you—“ Taehyun put down the mallet on his machine as moles began to pop up all over, similarly to yours had while you’d been distracted.
Taehyun moved behind you but before he could grab your hands to show you, the two of you were distracted by a loud dinging sound.
Beomgyu threw the mallet down hard at the machine, whacking every single mole at a feverish speed. The dinging came as the time limit ended and he laughed loudly, throwing the mallet. “HAH! I WON!”
You laughed as he jumped back to the other boys, cheering as Soobin gave him a high five.
“Nice, Beomgyu!”
Satisfied with the bragging rights that come from being crowned the (unofficial) Whack-a-Mole champion of the carnival, Beomgyu kept the smile on his face as he dramatically spun on his heel to face you. “I think you know what this calls for.”
You raised an eyebrow at him but before you could ask, he cut you off. “Cotton candy.”
Yeonjun’s eyes widened, almost in horror. “Aw, man…”
Soobin snickered, “it was doomed to happen eventually.”
“Eh, whatever. His body, his choice. You’re gonna be the one giving him a piggy back ride when he complains about his stomach.”
“Nope. Not it. Kai.”
“What?! Why me?”
“Your piggy back rides are the best.” Soobin said in a matter of fact tone.
“So? Don’t sign me up for that.” Kai argued, though everyone was well aware that if anyone actually needed it, he wouldn’t hesitate to pick them up.
“I am a grown man.” Beomgyu said with a straight face.
“With the stomach issues of a teenage girl.” Taehyun added.
Soobin gently tapped you on the shoulder, causing you to turn toward him. The smile he gave you was so sweet, you almost lost your appetite for anything else. “You wanted fried dough, right? I’ll get you some,”
Growing a bit worried at your friends beginning to separate, you grabbed onto his sleeve. “You’re all going?”
He shook his head and laughed, ruffling your hair. “We’ll be back in a few.”
Scrunching your nose up in annoyance, you began to flatten it back down. Kai lingered back as they went off, not wanting to leave you alone.
Grateful for this, you grabbed his hand and gave him a small smile. He gave yours a squeeze in return.
The two of you trailed after the others just a bit to meet in the middle, stopping at a new game booth curiously.

Soon, the others returned to see you and Kai standing side by side, armed with water guns and a shared determination. The look on the two of your faces was priceless as Beomgyu took multiple pictures with an itchy trigger finger.
The two of you were too locked in, bursting as many balloons as possible before the clock eventually ran out.
The colorful balloons bobbing and swaying on the rotating platform, you were determined to make yourself up to the Carnival Gods.
You and Kai raced against each other, trying to outshoot and outscore the other.
When the bell signaled the end of it and the final balloon burst you happily threw the gun back onto the counter and cheered. The memories of your shared fun were cherished long after the last balloon had burst.
“Yeaaah, that’s it Y/N!” You didn’t have to turn to see it was Yeonjun who had always cheered for you. Suddenly you found yourself embarrassed by how freely you expressed your excitement.
Yeonjun stood munching on a churro with a panda plush in his hands that you assumed had been the reasoning for their prolonged return.
Soobin handed you the fried dough and you gave him a quick smile of appreciation before biting into it, the warmth elevating the taste in your mouth.
Turning back to the booth, the carny stood with an expectant look on her face and you felt your face heat up once again.
“Oh! S-Sorry! Um.. prizes, right.”
Your eyes scanned them all, unfortunately not finding the particular animal you were looking for. “Hm…”
“Molang!” Kai called out, pointing to exactly that. A single Molang plush tied up by the wire in the upper corner of the booth. “They’re trapped…” You said breathlessly before motioning towards it. “Yeah! Molang!”
She laughed, pulling out a stepping stool to untie it for you and handed you the giant Molang which immediately found its’ home in Kai’s arms.
The night went along like this, fairly smooth without many slip ups. The occasional bickering between members occurred as usual but it was all in a playful manner. You found yourself feeling eternally grateful that you had come out for this night with them.
Everywhere you looked, there were games of skill and chance, beckoning with promises of prizes and fleeting glory.
In a place where thrill-seekers and romantics alike lost themselves in the magic of the moment, swept away on a whirlwind of adrenaline and wonder: all they could do was focus on you.
It wasn’t as if the group didn’t know of their shared feelings for you, in fact it had become a common topic of conversation in the hangouts they all had in Yeonjun’s room.
They all liked you: that was obvious to everyone but you.
What was even more obvious, though, was the fact that they couldn’t all confess to you. That would be much too overwhelming and confusing so rather than doing that, they all agreed to stay friends with you until they got their own moment.
Even with their feelings for you, they refused to argue over you. Besides some small jealousies here and there, they still loved each other dearly and refused to let any feelings ruin their friendship with their brothers.
Finally, it was time for the rides.
Striding towards the towering roller coaster, a mix of excitement and nervous energy coursed through your veins.
Yeonjun must have noticed and he nudged you, “it’ll be okay.”
You wanted to believe that but seeing how he himself had nervously gulped, you gave him a deadpanned expression and hoped that the ground would open up and swallow you whole.
The line snaked its way through a maze of metal rails, each twist and turn bringing you closer to the heart-pounding thrill—or rather, the fear awaiting at the ride's entrance. The distant screams of riders echo through the air, heightening the adrenaline.
Soobin seemed to pick up on Yeonjun’s inability to comfort you and made his way over from his place beside the line.
“I can sit with you if you want, Y/N. That way you can hold onto me if it gets too much.
The thought of clinging to him, as embarrassing as it was, did seem comforting.
As if clinging to him would somehow keep you grounded hundreds of feet above the ground.
Considering Soobin wasn’t initially going to even get on the ride, you tilted your head slightly. “Are you sure?” He just nodded with that same smile. You found yourself admiring his teeth.
Eventually, it was your turn to climb aboard. Taking your seat in the streamlined car, you felt the unfamiliar click of the safety harness locking into place, securing the two of you for the adventure ahead.
“It’s really not all that scary,” it almost sounded like he was trying to convince himself now and you wanted to laugh.
“You’re already high off the ground so obviously it’s not much for you.”
He raised an eyebrow at you, shooting you a judgmental look. “I’m not that tall.”
You rolled your eyes, “sure.” Beomgyu reached from the car behind you, grabbing onto your shoulders which caused you to jump as you turned back to him.
Half expecting him to make a joke about the situation, something about the railway coming undone or something. Instead he gave you a gentle smile, similar to the one he would give you at the end of a long day. One filled with comfort.
“You got this.” And somehow, you believed him.
The attendants give a final thumbs-up, and with a jolt, the coaster lurched forward, leaving the platform behind. You instantly closed your eyes as you felt a rush of air hit your face and the butterflies overtook your stomach.
As the coaster began its ascent, the world fell away beneath you, the clatter of the tracks drowned out by the pounding of your heart.
“I cannot believe you guys got me on this damn thing.” Finally prying your eyes open, you turned to glare at Soobin finding him already shooting you that goofy smile with those irritatingly cute dimples.
“It’s not our fault you’d do anything for us!” He called out.
With each passing second, you climbed higher and higher, the anticipation building with every foot gained.
“Plus, who would want to miss this view?”
At the peak, you paused for a moment, suspended in mid-air, taking in the breathtaking view spread out before you.
And you wanted to argue back, tell him that you regretted getting on the ride and regretted coming altogether. But you couldn’t because as you looked down at all the neon lights flashing in the darkness and how beautifully they blended together, you realized he was right.
The sight was beautiful, but it was even more beautiful because you were seeing it with them.
The wind rushed past, tugging at your hair and clothes, as you braced yourself for the exhilarating descent.
And then, with a sudden plunge, you were off, hurtling down the steep drop at breakneck speed. Your screams quickly turned into laughs that mixed with the others.
The world blurred around you as the coaster twisted and turned, banking sharply around curves and rocketing through loops.
Despite your fear being overtaken by joy, you still found yourself clinging to Soobin’s arm as you laughed. His face held a strange look of pride and admiration for you— not that you had looked to notice.
The force of gravity had you both pinned you to your seats, adrenaline coursing through your veins as you surrendered yourself to the wild ride.
As the coaster finally screeched to a halt back at the station, you found yourself breathless and exhilarated, a wide grin plastered across your face.
The rush of adrenaline was still coursing through your veins as you and the others stepped off the ride, pumped up and ready to take on whatever thrills the carnival had to offer next.
Approaching the carousel, it greeted you all with the enchanting melody of its whimsical music. You found yourself drawn closer with each playful note.
It was certainly a step down from the roller coaster but you still insisted on going on it. They didn’t bother to argue, just glad you were enjoying yourself.
“This is like going on the zip line and then going straight to the teacups.” Beomgyu commented as you inspected the vibrant carousel horses, each one adorned with intricate details and bright colors.
“Don’t be a hater. I just want to admire their ‘timeless dance’.” You said jokingly as you pointed to them simply moving up and down.
“We can just make a ‘timeless dance’ by ourselves,” he argued, grabbing your hand and you shook your head, pushing him back from you gently with a laugh.
As you all stepped onto the platform, the air was heavy with the scent of freshly painted wood. You chose a random white horse, running your hand along its smooth surface and felt the cool, polished wood beneath your fingertips.
In truth, you mostly wanted to ride the carousel to admire the art of it. It’s true that you had a fear of these dramatic rides but this was the exception, it was something nice and sweet that reminded you of your childhood somehow. It felt nostalgic for all of you as you all climbed aboard.
With a graceful sweep of the floor as everyone lifted their feet to stabilize themselves, the carousel began to spin. The platform beneath your feet started to rotate, and you leaned your head on the pole you clung to, turning to Beomgyu.
“I think I might fall asleep on this thing.” He said.
“Thanks for coming, anyways.”
He paused for a moment at the sincerity in your voice, looking you over as you blinked anticipating his response. “Nah, no way I can sleep now.” He said simply.
“Not when you look at me like that.”
Pausing for a moment as his words hit you, you brushed it off with another laugh as you hid your face in your hands and turned forward to the others conversing as they rode.
Around and around you went, rising and falling in time with the music, the wind whipping past and you found yourself laughing.
The cheerful chime of the carousel's music box almost sounded like a symphony.
You caught glimpses of the carnival unfolding around you: children with sticky fingers were clutching oversized lollipops, couples stealing kisses beneath the twinkling lights, and families laughing and smiling as they shared the magic of the moment.
It made your heart swell as you came to realize exactly what you had been missing and how lucky you were to have friends to help you come out of your shell.
And then, all too soon, the carousel began to slow, bringing your ride to a gentle stop. Slightly disappointed, you furrowed your eyebrows together.
Beomgyu excitedly jumped down and held his hand up for you to grab as you climbed down.
In that moment, a sense of contentment washed over you, lingering like the fading strains of the carousel's music.
With a smile on your face and a skip in your step, you stepped back into the bustling carnival, carrying with you the memories of the ride.
You all stepped into the queue for the Ferris wheel, anticipation hanging thick in the air. The towering structure loomed above, spokes reaching for the sky, promising a bird's-eye view of all the chaos below.
Looking up, you found yourself growing as anxious as you were excited.
“Huh…?” While staring, you realized that the ferris wheel had only seated two people, like the roller coaster.
Unlike the roller coaster though, the seats were separated with quite a distance between each other, meaning that you and whoever you sat with would be alone.
For some reason, your heart jumped at this. The idea of being alone with someone so close.
“There’s only room for two people?” You asked, even though you knew the answer.
Taehyun laughed and nodded, “you didn’t know?”
Frowning, you shrugged. “I thought that maybe it would be one of those big ones that sat everyone…”
He shook his head, “sadly not.”
As you inch closer to the front of the line, the rhythmic clinking of the cars ascending and descending fills your ears.
Standing before the entrance, the worker looked at you expectantly before glancing at the boys behind you.
You turned to face them and they all gave you an encouraging smile, each one as sweet as the one before.
“So, who’s it gonna be?”
