does anyone know how to confess to your crush ? weâve been friends since first grade and im afraid iâll ruin our friendship⊠any tips to win your best friendâs heart ??
âł 444hugfairy [3:04 PM]
thats so cute! i have a friend just like that, i think if i were in their position iâd probably swoon if he gave me homemade goods ^_^ nothing like home cooking made with love to capture someoneâs heart!
you immediately pressed send on the reply, a smile overtaking your features thinking about how cute this confession is going to be. to be honest, you wish youâd have your best friend-who-you-might-not-have-been-in-love-with-since-sophomore-year do things like these for you.
unfortunately, you donât think taehyun feels the same, anyways. heâs too out of touch when it comes to affection, especially with you. i guess it sucks being in the friend-zone. (heâs never explicitly stated that, but you donât need his confirmation to know.)
youâve been pining after him for years at this point. it was during your sophomore year of high school when you suddenly realized that you were in love with him. you were in denial about it for weeks, but the pitter-patter of your heart every time he greeted you or pushed his hair back said otherwise. you were blasting some random love song on the radio when your brain finally got it; you were terribly in love with your best friend.
it was almost sickening to accept. theres no way he could ever like you back! kang taehyun? in love with someone like you? that might take a miracle for that to happen.
thatâs what you tell yourself, anyways. youâre a little dramatic. but as youâre now in the middle of your third year of college and still painfully in love with him, a little exaggeration should be excused.
in fact, if asked, you could probably make a list of the reasons why you adore taehyun (sweet, handsome, hot as hell, intelligent, quick-witted, did i mention hot?) so much.
god, you love him to bits.

ââŠwhat are you doing here?â you ask, rubbing your eyes. taehyun shows bright and early at your doorstep, immediately pushing a tin of cookies into your hands. heâs taken care of his looks as well, suddenly showing up at your door with a leather jacket, black shirt thrown on as well while he wears a pair of dark jeans. he now has a chain necklace on him, god knows wherever he got that. taehyun clears his throat, looking away. a giggle escapes your lips, and you canât help but think, heâs so cute.
âi didnât make these for you, i, uh, made too much food yesterday. wanted to give them to you because you like cookies, right?â he gulps, attempting to make eye contact with you. âoh.â um. okay? thatâs a little out of character for him, but the cookies he shoved into your arms certainly do look delicious. âyou should try one.â he says, staring at you expectantly.
âokay!â you chirp, carefully picking out a cookie before taking a bite.
the cookie is delicious, for sure. itâs simple, chocolate chip. but as the chocolate spreads across your tongue and blends with the chewy dough, you canât help but close your eyes at how good it is. âis it⊠is it good?â taehyun asks cautiously, arm rubbing the back of his neck. âitâs great, tyunnie! howâd you make it?â you ask, eyes shining with curiosity. you donât remember taehyun being so good at baking. in fact, you feel honored that he decided he should give you the cookies in the first place.
taehyun mutters something under his breath, before he confidently states, âa magician doesnât tell his secrets.â
âthis is a cookie recipe though?â

i see you took my advice anonymous⊠hmm⊠i think you should probably surprise them by bringing them out somewhere, like a date! you should be a little subtle about it though haha, if you outright say itâs a date you might be too obvious

i did, thank you so much ! iâll try to do this as soon as i can, hopefully itâll make it more clear to them ă ă ă
ah, anonymous seems so nice, you think. this person must be so lucky to have someone like this in their life.
âł [re: Anonymous] 444hugfairy [6:05 PM]
of course, anything to help! you go ~~
itâs a chilly thursday, snow crunching beneath your feet as you walk around the streets of seoul. you can barely feel your nose, occasionally scrunching it every once in a while to get the nerves in your nose unfrozen. the low temperatures were enough to make you want to never go outside again and just stay curled up in a ball all day in bed. even through all that, winter remains your favorite season. something about it just makes you feel so nostalgic and at peace. the snowy peaks catch your attention immediately, admiring how it looks until youâre snapped out of your daydream.
a call from taehyun rings through the air as you pick up, but you nearly lose your grip and drop your phone the second he speaks.
âletâs go out. where are you? i want to take you somewhere.â
is he insane? does he not know the effect he has on me? my god, kang taehyun. youâll be the death of me.
âwhatâs the occasion? this is a little out of character, tyun.â he canât see it, but youâre sure he can envision how you raise an eyebrow at his sudden proposal. ânothing. was just a little bored. can we meet at the park? iâll pick you up from there.â shyly, you agree and immediately hang up the phone. heâs driving you crazy and he doesnât even know it. this is awful for your health.

the snow has become heavier now. your once clean coat is now covered in a thin blanket of ice crystals, and you cant help but shiver as you wait.
it feels like eternity in the cold when you finally see taehyun drive up to you. "i'm sorry for being late, ___. are you cold?" he asks tenderly, hands cupping your cheeks.
suddenly, you no longer feel cold. you can't tell if its the blush radiating from your cheeks or his warm hands holding them while he inspects your face thoroughly. "your face is red." he comments. oh my god. he noticed. your face turns even redder, absolutely flushed with embarassment. "it's just a bit cold, that's all." somehow, you managed to stutter out a response. a look of concern flashes over his features, but disappears immediately when he fronts a grin. "shouldn't have kept someone waiting, hm? come on. let's go."
the car drive is very silent between the two of you. what just happened? the scenes replay in your head over and over again, and you can't help but feel sick to your stomach at just remembering it. the way his hands caressed your skin, all you want is for it to happen again. (bonus points if both of you touch lips. kdrama mentality is real. anyone can dream.) taehyun quietly turns on his radio, the sweet sounds of a mellow love song playing in the background. damn, even god wants you both to get together. there is absolutely no way this should be happening right now.
taehyun clears his throat when you both arrive at a red light. carefully, he cranes his neck to look at you, but you seem a little too invested looking out the window. he sighs, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. "so, ___. it's been a while since we hung out like this, huh?" his attempt at starting conversation is a bit lame. (you didn't realize this at the moment, but now that you look back at it, what was he thinking?)
"um, it's been pretty good."
"that's uh, that's good." he says, awkwardly.
silence envelops the two of you, time seeming slower than ever as you both wait for the red light to pass.
"do you still like to ice skate?" taehyun asks, the first to break the heavy silence.
"i haven't skated in years, taehyun." he chuckles, a smile now gracing his features. "it doesn't hurt to start over again, right?"
taehyun leads you inside the chilly ice-skating rink, already filled to the brim with couples and friends laughing and screaming as they slid over the ice. "come, ___! let's go!" he pulls at your sleeves excitedly, already preparing to get pairs of skates for the two of you. of course, you agree, albeit reluctantly, but not because you didn't want to skate. god, no, of course you wanted to. especially with taehyun.
itâs just that you feel as if your heart is about to pulse out of your body and run away, would this be considered a date? between⊠friends? theres no way you could confront him about this without pulling a âwhat are we?â moment. what even are you two now, anyways? it feels like youâre a couple in the talking stage.
you follow taehyun wherever absentmindedly, your body seating itself on a bench while you put on your skates. the laces feel unfamiliar in your fingers, twisting and turning it every direction. the rough rope slightly burns your skin, making you hiss out in frustration. âhere, let me help you.â taehyun says softly, placing his hands over yours while he ties your laces. he chuckles a bit, hands never letting go of yours. âcanât believe you forgot to tie laces, ___. thought everyone knew that.â your face turns red for what seems like the umpteenth time that day. he just seems to know exactly how to fluster you. you pray to god for him to stop testing you like this.
âitâs okay. iâll tie them for you whenever you want, sugar.â
âŠ
sugar?
he just called you⊠sugar? kang taehyun just called you a pet name. oh my god. the world is ending. this is it. youâre about to pass away.
taehyun smiles up at you when he finishes tying the other skate. he acts as if he didnât call you sugar just now, pulling your hands towards him to enter the rink. his fingers intertwine with yours, fitting perfectly in between the spaces like a puzzle.
the two of you end up skating on the ice just like that, hands intertwined, gliding across the ice. the silence between you both now feels more comfortable. you opt to savor the moment, relishing the warmth of his hand on yours. âthis is nice.â and it really is, here you are, holding hands with the boy of your dreams while you ice skate together. if you had your phone on you right now you could take a picture of this moment and go pinterest viral. youâre not quite sure if thatâs a thing. but it makes sense.
the boy next to you merely nods, lost in thought. âuh, ___, i-â he starts nervously, heart palpitating through his chest. if he didnât know any better, heâd think itâd be pressing against his ribcage right now. you hum questioningly, âwhat is it, tyun?â
âi think iâm- oh my god, are you okay?â
heâs immediately cut off by you falling on your butt, wincing in pain. i guess thatâs one way to present yourself in front of your crush, you muse while you brush ice off your pants.

the ice-skating dilemma, as second-best-friend choi beomgyu dubs it, remains fresh in your mind the next day. you just cant fathom that the whole thing really happened.
âcan you two just kiss? no one can stand it anymore.â beomgyu practically begs when you tell him about the whole thing. âeven soobin is sick of it. and itâs soobin, for godâs sake! heâs practically a fool when it comes to love! he didnât even notice that one girl hitting on him for weeks until she actually said it straight to his face!â
âi donât think you needed to diss soobin like that,â you say quietly, as if the man in question was going to appear from the shadows at the mention of his name. âheâs not here. iâm allowed to say whatever i want about him. no one is stopping me.â beomgyu retorts, rolling his eyes. âbut-â you try to say, but he immediately shuts you down. âno buts! and weâre getting off track ă Ą PLEASE just date taehyun. everyone is getting sick of it." you play with the hem of your clothes nervously at the thought of having to confess to him. âbut how are you so sure he likes me back? the chances feel like a solid one percent.â
beomgyu facepalms with a loud âsmack,â heâs sick of you at this point. it has him questioning why heâs friends with you instead of vice versa, as per usual. âhe literally does not shut up about you. every day. itâs always ___ this, ___ that. he does not shut up.â his sudden confession has your eyes widening. âhe talks about me?â you say, in disbelief. beomgyu sighs exasperatedly. itâs almost like it was obvious. âokay. originally i was gonna stay silent about it. but after that, i cannot do it anymore. do what you want with that information. go kiss taehyun.â
âi canât believe it.â
âi canât either. please get out of my living room now.â

thank you all for your help! i think iâm going to tell them now, i just canât handle it anymore. i just need to get this off my chest :( thank you all for your help once again !! hopefully they accept !
you canât bring yourself to reply to their mysterious personâs last post.
youâre laying in bed. beomgyu revealing that taehyun had talked about you had you all giddy: kicking your feet, giggling with a hand over your mouth, and rolling around on your bed. you couldnât believe it.
perhaps you and this anonymous person will get their happy ending. just maybe.

it's been a few days since you've last heard from taehyun. ever since he carried you back from ice skating, he's been radio silent.
like, he's silent. he has not said or done a thing. a tiny guilt monster has been eating away at your stomach everytime you refresh taehyun's social media, only to find nothing new. you're starting to feel like a stalker (even though the victim has been friends with you for years).
beomgyu's been very assuring, encouraging your relationship and even going above and beyond to trend "#___HYUNREAL" on twitter, despite the fact the only people using the hashtag are him and soobin. they're great wingmen. you should applaud their efforts.
you're giggling to yourself over some meme they sent you when taehyun strolls up to you, seating himself right next to you. "hey." he says, smiling. his smile is almost cat-like, it makes him look so adorable. "hi, tyun!" you greet him, and you believe you might be head-over-heels in love.
taehyun's smile falters a little as he ponders his next words.
"___... i..." he begins, cautiously saying each syllable, afraid of what will come next. you cocked your head slightly, confused as to why he was suddenly so hesitant.
"what's wrong?" you ask. his demeanor has changed entirely, in a matter of seconds. it's become concerning. "i- i just need to tell you something." he responds, eyes wavering.
"oh. okay then, what is it?" you question sweetly, and that does it for him. he can't take it anymore.
"i'm in love with you," he confesses. "i've loved you for ages. i can't imagine myself being with someone other than you. it's driving me crazy, every sunset, every sunrise, every second, every minute, my mind thinks of you. and my heart just can't take it anymore, ___. even if you don't like me back, i still want to be friends, because i just can't see my life without you in it somehow."
when he finally finishes his ramble, his chest heaves, exasperated from blurting his inner thoughts and feelings so quickly. taehyun notices your shocked expression as soon as he recovers. his head hangs low, already accepting his wordless rejection. "i'm sorry. i shouldn't have put that on you so suddenly. but i really mean it, i-" his words are cut off when you press a kiss to his cheek, softly turning his head to give him a kiss on the lips as well.
"you think too much, silly. i love you too."
the poor boy turns into a blushing, mumbling mess with your hands cupping his face like that. certainly a rare sight for the kang taehyun.
"i thought you'd never feel the same."
"taehyun, love, i've had a crush on you since forever. how could i not have fallen for you?"
"...love?"

GIRLFRIEND PRIVILEGE

Pairing: Kang Taehyun x reader Genre: Fluff, established relationship Being Taehyun's girlfriend comes with privilege. I just know it.
To love and to be loved by Kang Taehyun seemed liked privilege. Felt like a privilege and it was a privilege. There were so many subtle things that you thought were mundane but it turns out that it was something special. Taehyun wasn't exactly an affectionate guy. He didn't give affection and he didn't like receiving one either. His love language fall on the other side of the category like acts of service and quieter and more subtle actions rather than giving a big hug to show his love. At least, that's what his members thought.
It turns out, Taehyun tolerated enjoyed affection when it was coming from you. They first noticed it when they were back from tour. After not meeting for four months, your boyfriend was finally back in town. They didn't know what they expected. But, a full on bear hug with your legs around his waist, arms around his neck and him practically lifting you off the ground and spinning around was definitely not expected. But, the bright smile on Taehyun's face confirmed he really liked it. And how happy he was to see you. Soobin wasn't too happy hearing about this. Neither was Yeonjun. Taehyun had been avoiding all their 'love' all these years, claiming he don't like being 'touched' but after the stunt with you, they were convinced he was lying. You know, those times on the dorm when Soobin tries to sit besdie him but Taehyun always end up walking away, finding another seat saying he can't stand Soobin's body heat or some shit. Then you come around, sitting so close you were almost sitting on his lap and guess what? Taehyun didn't move a muscle to run away from your body heat or something, pulling you closer as both of you watched cats videos on his phone. Maybe you didn't have body heat. But as you dated longer, the more they realized you had this thing called, 'Taehyun's girlfriend privilege' where you get to do the things no one else can do to Taehyun. Like calling him an idiot, dumbass, shorty and get to live another day. Especially after calling him the last one. Or getting to ruffle his hair and make it identical to a bird's nest without getting your arm twisted. Taehyun was someone with boundaries. Reserved and kept to himself most of the time. He was also the most caring and attentive guy as the boys would say but he was never the guy he is now before he met you. How you went past all his boundaries and managed to make him smile at his worst days was something they really wanted to know. But, Taehyun was still hesitant about it. Shaking them iff whenever they asked him about it. But no one could miss the tiny smile etched on his face whenever someone mentioned your name.
You didn't know it yet but being Taehyun's girlfriend had a lot of privilege. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "But, it's different with (y/n)," Taehyun yelled, running way to avoid the hugs being forced onto him," she's my girlfriend. You guys are..... grown up?" Yeonjun scoffed ,"What the hell does that mean? We give better hugs, anyway." "Yeah. You were all giggly and happy when (y/n) gives you a hug. Why you making a face now?" Soobin interfered. "Because I only like it when (y/n) gives me physical affection!" "There. He said it." Beomgyu smirked, hiding his camera.

đȘdrops of jupiter: taehyun

pairing: taehyun x afab!reader word count: 2.9k

synopsis: after yours and taehyunâs breakup, your group goes on tour which is exactly what you needed. a year long world tour to distract you from the pains your heart felt. but once your group comes back from the tour and is preparing for your next comeback, txt is also preparing a comeback of their own that involves your group. you and taehyun have no choice but rekindle a friendship for the sake of your members, fans, and each other.
genre: ex-lovers to lovers, idol!taehyun, idol!reader.
warnings: swearing, alcohol mentions, taehyun is so down bad for reader, make-out session, let me know if I missed anything!

â«âNow that sheâs back in the atmosphere with drops of Jupiter in her hairâŠââ«
Taehyun stood there in shock, a towel wrapped around her neck, sweat dripping down his face, and boxing gloves in one hand, his water bottle in another.
You slowly thinned your lips in a line, not expecting to see him again so soon after getting back from tour.
And the thing was, Taehyun wasn't either. He knew you got back to Seoul a few days ago(thanks to his amazing stalking skills aka stealing Soobinâs phone and Instagram account to look at yours), but he wasnât expecting you to be standing inside the elevator when the doors opened after he just finished his gym workout.
All Taehyun could do was look at you and take notice of how uncomfortable you looked. It took everything in him to not burst into tears and rush over to you.
You also wanted nothing more than to go to him, but after everything that happened with the two of youâŠyou knew you couldnât.
âTaehyun!!!â your group members cheered.
It took Taehyun a second to register his name being called by your group mates, he didnât even realize they were in the elevator with you.
The oldest member, and the leader, pulled Taehyun into the elevator, and the doors closed.
âPerfect timing!â She cheered, âSoobin called us all for a meeting!â
âDid he?â Tae said barely above a whisper, âI had no ideaâŠâ
Your leader realized she spoiled the secret meeting, you also had no idea what was going on until you were dragged inside the HYBE building.
And by the looks of it, Soobin kept it a secret from Taehyun too.
You noticed howâŠsad he looked. Part of you hoped heâd be happy to see you, but you also understood that he probably would have been happy if the circumstances were different.
Itâs been over a year since youâve seen him.
Taehyun and you secretly dated, not from your companies or bandmates, but from the world.
You and your group just freshly debuted and your first album was a major hit. So you all went out to celebrate at a club that the group Tomorrow X Together just happened to be at as well.
And thatâs how you met Taehyun. The two of you hit it off so smoothly, even made out in the back of the club. Granted, you both were drunk and out of it, but when you woke up that next morning with a text from him with his name saved as âTyunđâ saying how he wanted to take you out on a date and properly kiss youâŠyou were so down bad.
He was everything you could have ever wanted. He opened doors for you, and always waited outside your company building or dorm building until you texted him saying you made it to where you needed to be safely before he left. Always made sure you were warm, giving you his jacket or wrapping you closely in his arms. Always making sure you ate and drank water and if you didnât he would be practically breaking down your dorm or company's door down to give you food. He took care of you.
You fell hard for him and loved everything about him. From the way he has his little shy habits, to the way he said your name and how you looked at you. Loved the way heâd lay you down on his bed and make love to you like you were the greatest thing that was put on this earth.
But as fast as everything came together, it just as quickly crashed and burned.
Rumors between the two of you started circulating, articles being popped out by every famous news site every single day. And it tore at your relationship.
You were ready to go public. Ready to step into that light with him.
But TaehyunâŠwasnât.
It was the first major disagreement the two of you had. Youâve had fights, sure, but it was never like this.
To say Taehyun was scared would be an understatement. It was already bad enough that he had to be careful and watch every movement or word he said. The public eye was ruthless and the last thing he wanted was your name to get dragged in the mud. You were Taehyunâs first real relationship, heâs dated around sure, but it was nothing compared to you.
You and Tae couldnât get to an agreement which ultimately ended your relationship.
âGuess you really donât actually care or love me enough to go public, because if you did this would be such an easy decision to make but apparently itâs not. Goodbye, Taehyun.â
It was the last thing you said to him as you stormed out of his dorm room, leaving him sitting on his bed watching as you walked out of his life.
Taehyun regretted not chasing after you every single day since then. Regretting not listening to you and giving it a chance.
He was so in love with you, and he wished he could have said that instead of watching you leave.
Not even a week later your company announced that your group was going on a world tour and was hitting the airport a month later.
You felt like you needed this, to get out and away from Seoul and from him. It was the perfect way to get space and to help you move on.
But here you were, back in Seoul and here he was standing in front of you, and your heart still beats for him all the same.
To say Taehyun was pissed would be silly, he was more than pissed. You could practically see the smoke blowing from his ears as he stormed up to Soobin, fists clenched and jaw locked.
âWant to tell me why this was kept as a secret!?!â
Soobin just stood there, an awkward smile on his face as he glanced between his bandmate and your group, âSurprise?â
Oh, Taehyun will show him a surprise later. Of his fist meeting Soobinâs perfect nose.
It didnât take long for the rest of the TXT members to appear, everyone giving their greetings and hugs.
âItâs nice seeing you again,â Yeonjun said, pulling you into a tight hug, âHow was your tour?â
You hugged him back, âIt was great, seeing the world is always fun.â
Yeonjun smiled at you. You could tell he was genuinely happy to see you again after so long.
Besides, both your groups got close during your time dating Taehyun.
Once both groups settled down, your leader and Soobin announced why we were all gathered here today.
A collaboration.
And also apparently everyone knew about this collaborationâŠexcept you and Taehyun. Because of course, why not?
The song would be a love song(because of course, it would be). It would be so upbeat and happy. The choreography would be of two lovers dancing together in perfect harmony. The promotions would be through TikTok with the challenge, along with posting them on Instagram and Twitter. It honestly was a great idea and really beautiful, whoever came up with this idea was a genius.
But the problem was you and Taehyun.
After the breakup and going no contact, the effect on the media wasâŠwell negative. Went just about as good as youâd thought. Mostly after both you and Taehyun âadmittedâ to the media that there was no relationship at all.
You were both awkward, not looking at each other or even interacting at all during the whole meeting.
This is exactly why Soobin didnât tell Taehyun and your leader didnât tell you.
Once you and your group left, Taehyun was both in his fierce anger, âWhy didnât you tell me Bin?!?â
Soobin shuddered under the use of his nickname being thrown out of the younger mouth the way it did.
âBecause I knew you would either have A: not shown up, or B: busted down the doors and made it even more awkward between the two of you.â
PointâŠtaken. Tae knew that if he did know about this collaboration, he would have done everything possible to make himself look presentable for you.
Man was so down bad for you still and it showed by his actions throughout the following week.
Anytime you needed water? Tae was jumping up to grab you a bottle. Hungry? He was rushing to grab you a snack.
You sneezed? He was grabbing the tissue box.
You had to admit, it was cute and you adored it, but it still felt so awkward and everyone else was noticing it too. You two barely spoke to each other at all but he was at your every waking call.
Before you knew it two weeks had flown by and the song was officially recorded and completed. Now all that was felt was finishing up the choreography, filming the music video, and making the TikToks, which was the real challenge.
Mostly because your groups decided to put the two of you together as the âloversâ of the music video and dance challenges in a way and hopes of getting the two of you to rekindle and make up.
The group practices were awkward and nerve-racking.
You didnât understand why both leaders decided it was a good idea, why any of this was a good idea.
You both had comebacks soon, shouldnât each group just be focusing on that?
You arrived at the HYBE building early for practice, wanting to get a head start and prepare yourself for the next two hours.
Today would be the day they finally have you and Tae work together on the dance. Before today it was just the two of you mirroring the choreographers, but today was the real deal.
Unfortunately for you, Taehyun had the same idea.
You walked into the practice room, already seeing him in the middle of the room doing stretches.
His heart nearly dropped seeing you, âOh, hi YNâŠâ
âHello..â you softly whispered back, making your way into the room.
He didnât know what to say. Everything was so awkward, and he had no idea how to fix it.
âIâll justâŠâ he pointed to the door, slowly starting to walk out.
âYou donât have to leave,â you quickly said, âWe have to practice together today anyways, might as well stay.â
Tae just nodded, trying to think of anything to start a conversation with you. But failing anyway.
âWe donât have to do this,â you finally said, sitting down on the floor to start your own stretches, âLetâs just get through this until the promotions are over.â
Without understanding why, your words were all it took for him to cut his shyness away.
âIs that really what you want?â
The way he said it was enough to send chills down your spine, he wasnât stumbling over his words, showed no sign of being awkward, and it was so clearly cutthroat.
You just shrugged, âItâs probably what you want.â
Taehyun scoffed, âThere you go again acting like you know what I want.â
And now you were pissed.
âExcuse me?â You snapped, jumping to your feet.
âI said what I said, YN,â He said with a roll of his eyes, âYouâve been acting like you know what I want ever since our relationship went toxic.â
âOh, please then Kang Taehyun, tell me what it is you want since I seem to be unknowing.â
He folded his arms over his chest, âI want us to drop whatever this is, and rekindle our once friendship, we are stuck with each other whether we like it or not.â
You knew he was right, and it would benefit both groups to just⊠makeup.
So you nodded, âFine, we can do that.â
Taehyun relaxed, but not because you agreed to rekindle, but because of the way your eyes glossed over, âHey hey, why are you crying?â
He walked closer to you, his hands hovering, not knowing if touching you was acceptable. You took a few steps away from him.
âYN, please talk to mââ
âHow can I just rekindle everything with you when my heart isnât over everything? Isnât over you. It must have been so easy for you.â
Taehyun tilted his head in confusion, âWhat?â
You wiped your eyes with your palms, âI stalked your socials pretty much every single night while I was gone on tour,â you admitted. If the two of you were going to rekindle, might as well unload everything, âI saw how happy you were, saw all the interactions, and you got over me so easily. Makes sense since you didnât want to go public about our relationship.â
Taehyun was stunned, how could you possibly think he was over you? Heâs the biggest simp for you, has that not been obvious with how he did everything possible for you since youâve been here? Did you think it was just something he was doing out of pure habit?
âYouâre not over me?â was all Tae was able to say, those words repeating over and over in his head.
You rolled your eyes, âIs that all you heard out of all that? Seriously Taehyun? I canât believeââ
And you were cut off. Taehyun had his arms wrapped around you, lips crashing to yours. His body going on autopilot and pressing you up against the mirrored wall.
Part of you wanted to fight him, the other part wanted to bring him closer. You chose to bring him closer, snaking your fingers into his hair.
âI am nowhere close to being over you,â he whispered between kisses, his hands flying to either side of your head, trapping you against him and the mirror.
You pulled away from the kiss, leaning your head against the mirror, wanting to see the look on his face when you asked him to repeat himself.
âI said I am nowhere close to being over you, YN,â he pressed his forehead against yours, âI stalked your socials with Soobinâs accounts. I watched every single fancam that came out of you. Saved every cute selfie you posted and counted down the days until you landed back in Seoul.â
You took a deep breath and it came out more shaky than you wanted, âWhy? You didnât want to go public with me.â
âBecause I was scared,â he took a deep breath as well, âI was a coward, I was stupid. I was scared of how the media would treat you after it was out. I am in love with you, YN, and not a day goes by that I donât regret the decision I made.â
You kept eye contact with him the entire time he spoke. You knew him inside and out. You could see just how badly this breakup was killing him now that he had broken down those walls.
âI kept praying, hoping that while you were out there amongst all the space of this big ole world that youâd miss me so bad and by some act of fate to bring you back to me.â
Your hands reached up, cupping his face, âI did miss you. More than I can even admit.â
âI am so sorry, YN, and I cannot ever forgive myself for letting you go so easily.â
His eyes teared up, his heart rate paced faster and he felt like if he didnât push away from you right now he would completely break down.
âThen donât let me go now.â
He searched your eyes, âWhat?â
âDonât let me go,â you pressed your lips back to his, âplease donât let me go.â
Itâs all he needed to hear to press his body completely against yours, kissing you so hard and passionately as if these kisses would make up for the year you were away from him.
He parted your lips with his tongue, letting the muscle explore your mouth, a small moan escaping.
âGod,â he whispered between a kiss, âIâve missed your sweet sounds,â
You giggled against his lips, âYou canât just say things like that.â
âI canât help it,â he placed his forehead back against yours, âYou make me crazy.â
Before you could reach up for his lips again, the practice room door opened, forcing Taehyun away from you and you to quickly rush away from the mirror.
Huening Kai was the first in the room, him stopping to raise a brow at you two, barely seeing how you both rushed away from each other, âDid we interrupt something?â
Taehyun hummed, âHmm? Oh, nah! We just got here early.â
Soobin wasnât buying it, mostly not after seeing Taehyunâs handprints on the mirror, âI am guessing the two of you made up?â
You and Tae glanced at each other, small smiles filling your faces.
âMore like made out,â Beomgyu said, clearly grossed out, âCanât even hide the obvious boner he has and how fucked his hair looks.â
Taehyun slowly turned and faced the mirror, seeing the state his body was in, âI am going to kill you Beomgyu,â
With the two of you making up, and ultimately deciding to give your relationship a second chance, the rest of the recording of the music video and the TikToks for the promotions went by smoothly.
Once the song was released and all the videos dropped, you and Taehyun were the talk of the town.
The publicâs reaction was better than Tae hoped, it eased his mind and he was finally ready to go public with you. Ready to show you off to the world. To let everyone know that he, Kang Taehyun, cuffed you.
And that he was never going to let you go again.

a/n: I am so sorry that this probably sucks...it was very rushed and I lost inspiration for it since this sat in my drafts for so long. I hope you all still enjoy it.

Seo-yeon licked her lips for what felt like the hundredth time. Glancing at her phone and seeing no new notifications, she sighed.
"See you soon." was the last message he sent.
She bit her bottom lip, legs kicking giddily. Her roommates were out for the day to enjoy their free time outside the dorms, but she chose to stay and spend her time resting and seeing him. It was just her luck that he was free for the day as well after practicing early in the morning, so she was quick to invite him over to watch a movie and just hang out.
It was not his first time coming over to her dorm, so why was her heart racing like that? She felt excitement run over her body as she thought of them spending time alone after so many weeks spent only talking over the phone and face-timing. Maybe that was the reason, the longing for each other, missing cuddling him and talking to him in person.
Or maybe it was what happened the last time they were alone together...
Taehyun's arm tightened around her waist as his free hand coddled her neck, pulling her closer to him as their lips molded against each other. Seo-yeon hummed against his lips, moving around until he hit his back against the wall, her body quick to press against his once again as her hands went traveled up to his hair.
She didn't know exactly how they ended up like this. One moment they were pausing the movie because they were both hungry and decided to make some lamen, but as they waited for the water to boil little kisses turned into a full makeout session in TXT's dorm kitchen.
It wasn't their first time kissing, but it sure was the first time it got that intense between them. Between hair pulling, skin grabbing, and bodies colliding, it sure felt like they were going to another level of intimacy between them. The thought of that made her heart skip a couple of beats and her mouth pressed harder against his, moving swiftly to bite his bottom lip. His short, but low groan was enough to make her want to rub her tights together, excitement running through her veins...
And then the noise of the front door opening in the hallway blew their bubble.
It happened a couple of weeks ago, and they were quick to jump apart and pretend they weren't doing anything besides food when Kai entered the kitchen proclaiming how hungry he was.
Seo-yeon almost laughed at the memory of Taehyun's stiff pose against the oven to hide a high-likely boner. They didn't talk about that again, going on with their lives as usual, but the situation opened a door to a new chapter for their relationship. In the almost one year of relationship, they didn't do anything sexual besides kissing, both because their schedules were a pain in the ass and because Taehyun didn't feel ready for that kind of intimacy, which she could tell by his timid approaches when it came to intimacy in their relationship. She felt the same in the beginning, but as time passed, she was getting a little impatient and wanted more.
Now they were going to be alone again, this time in her dorm, which gave her ideas she probably shouldn't grow expectations for, but really couldn't help herself when she was in a relationship with a hot and sweetheart of a boyfriend.
Her trail of thoughts was broken by the ring of the doorbell. She quickly made her way towards the front door, swinging it open revealing her handsome, makeup-free boyfriend.
"Hyunie" she pulled him inside and into a hug, "I missed you"
Taehyun smiled at her, pecking her lips lovingly, "I missed you too"
Hurrying him to take his shoes off, Seo-yeon pulled him further into the dorm by the hand, "Are your members here?" he asked setting the bag of candies he brought with him.
Seo-yeon shook her head as she went to the kitchen to grab the snacks. "They are out for the day, probably will be back by night"
"Oh"
Seo-yeon sat the snacks on the coffee table in front of them before getting comfortable beside him on the couch, sitting sideways so she could look at him properly.
"How was training today? You look tired," she mumbled, playing with his hair, making him smile.
"It was good. Everyone is getting more excited the closer the tour gets," he said, a smile turning up on his face as he thought about finally getting to travel around the world to perform.
"I'm so happy for you!" she smiled back before her lips turned into a pout, "'M gonna miss you a lot though"
Taehyun kissed her put lovingly, "I'll be back before you know it," he kissed her again "And we'll talk every day," another peck, "Hm?"
Seo-yeon sighed dreamily, humming in agreement with a nod. "You better." she narrowed her eyes at him in a joking manner before moving away, "What movie do you want to see today?"
"Hm... What was the one you wanted to see last week? Let's see that"
Turns out, it didn't really matter what movie they put on. Barely thirty minutes passed and the cuddling and feeding each other the sweets turned into small pecks to a full-on makeout session.
With Taehyun sitting, Seo-yeon easily slid into his lap, pushing herself closer to him when his hands tightened on her waist. Taehyun grunted when she brushed against his crotch, the sound making her do it again, earning to hear more from him.
As the kisses intensified, Seo-yeon pulled back for a moment, trailing her lips to his jaw, down on his neck where she teased him with her mouth and teeth.
"Baby..." Taehyun moaned breathly. He felt his body heat up under her ministrations, heart racing as he breathed heavily from all the kissing, he felt goosebumps blossom when her fingers trailed down his torso, nails scratching lightly on his skin before stopping just above his pants. He was hard. Painfully so and he didn't know what to do with himself.
Seo-yeon leaned back, just enough to be able to look properly at his face, catching on his dazed gaze, parted lips, and red cheeks. "Is this okay?" she asked softly, hands moving up to his chest once again. "Do you want to stop?"
Taehyun shook his head lightly, "I-I just don't know wh-," he sighed. He glanced at their hands when took his on hers, interlacing their fingers. "You know I am not really... experienced," he mumbled.
"And that's fine," she was quick to reply, moving in to kiss him on the cheek. "We don't need to do anything today if you feel like you are not ready yet"
Taehyun nodded, her words made him feel comfortable and safe. He trusted her with his whole being. As he continued to stare into her eyes, newfound confidence washed over him.
"I am ready," he said with a small smile, making her eyebrow quirk up and heart race. This time, he leaned up and caught her lips on his again, giving it a soft peck before going into a deeper kiss, his tongue tracing her bottom lip before biting into it softly.
Seo-yeon moaned at the feeling, her hips unconsciously ground down, making her breath catch in her throat when she felt his hard-on against her.
"Let's start with something different," she mumbled against his lips before kissing him one last time, trailing her lips down his neck as she pushed her body away from his, sliding out of the couch. Taehyun's confused expression quickly vanished when she parted his legs apart, settling on her knees in front of him.
"Are- are you sure?" he asked breathless as he felt her hands running up on his thighs, nearing the painful erection he was currently sporting. Seo-yeon wishes she could take a picture of the view in front of her. Taehyun manspreading with heavy breathing, hair a mess from her pulling, lips parted and glistening with red cheeks, and his eyes... his beautiful eyes were staring down at her with such desire she wanted to jump on him. She pressed her thighs together.
Seo-yeon finally let her wandering hands brush against his hard-on, earning a groan in response. "Are you?" she asked, her voice laced with lust and tease.
"Yes," he was quick to reply, making her smile. She caressed him over his sweatpants for a short while, before helping him out of his pants, kissing up his naked thighs. It was not the first time she has done it. In fact, she has had some experience before she started dating Taehyun, so this wasn't something new to her as it was to him. But doing it with him felt like a whole new experience and she wanted him to have the best time tonight.
Slowly sliding down his boxers, she took her time staring at the pretty sight. Wow. She glanced up to look at his face, biting her lip when she saw him staring directly at her. Holding his glance, she took a hold of his member in one hand, starting with the tip, where she softly brushed her thumb over the slit, receiving a sinful moan from her boyfriend, who couldn't help but close his eyes, head dropping at the new feeling of someone that was not him touching his dick.
Spreading the precum he already produced, she leaned in, distributing small licks and kisses all over his dick and stopping just above the tip. She glanced up at him once again, watching his face when she finally put him into her mouth, sucking the tip with care before her tongue brushed against his slit.
"Fuck" Taehyun moaned, startled by the sensation. It was too good and it was getting better and better the more of him she took into her mouth. She felt warm, bobbing her head up and down, getting him all wet, and every time her tongue licked on that little vein on the underside of his dick, he felt his whole body shudder. He couldn't help thrusting back sometimes, hands grabbing into the cushion and blanket that lay next to him.
"Is it good?" she asked against him, kissing the side of his dick. "Hm?" she glanced up, "Look at me, baby. Want you to watch me," she moved back a little, letting her hand take over as she talked to him. "Is it good, Tae?" she asked again, loving his facial expression and the small sounds he was making.
"So good," he breathed heavily, "Please don't stop," he whined, feeling himself get closer and closer with her ministrations. She smiled naughtily. Fuck he looked so hot.
"Wasn't planning to, baby," she said before going back down, now using her mouth and hand to get him off. He was getting closer, she thought one of his hands moved to her hair, pressing it softly towards him, hips thrusting up more erratically as he tried chasing his orgasm. She complied with his wishes, speeding up on her ministrations. Her movements were getting sloppy, spit drooling down her chin and her eyes stung, tears threatening to fall as she kept going. Giving head was not her favorite thing, but admittedly seeing Taehyun react to her the way he is right now, gave her a newfound likeness towards it.
Taehyun was fighting to keep his eyes open, wanting to watch her on her knees, mouth wrapped on him, looking so beautiful and making him feel so so good. He moaned at the sensation. He was close, so close, and she seemed to notice because she sped up both mouth and hands. The slurping sound coming from it amplified everything he was feeling, making him unconsciously snap his hips forward, chasing his high.
He came without notice, it happened fast before he could warn her, but Seo-yeon didn't mind much, taking in as much as she could, dazed eyes staring up at her lover. He looked so freaking good post-orgasm, so hot she really wanted to rip his clothes apart and have her way with him.
Taehyun tried to catch his breath, eyes heavy as he stared at her, catching her eyes staring up at him from her position on the floor. "Did you- did you just... Oh my god," he breathed out when she put her tongue out, showing him she swallowed. "I-I'm sorry I didn't warn you before I-" she interrupted him, sliding back on his lap as she helped him tuck in.
"I don't mind," she mumbled kissing his cheek before looking into his eyes, "H-How was it?" It was the first time she actually felt nervous in the whole situation, heart racing as she waited for his response, moving the slightly damp hair from getting into his eyes.
"The best I ever had,"
"You had others before?" she asked with a quirked brow
"No," he chuckled, "The best orgasm," he explained, kissing her lips as she hummed. "Thank you, baby. I really really enjoyed it" his emphasis made her giggle, kissing him once more, which got deeper when he pulled her head closer. Just like she has don't to him, he trailed his lips down her throat, sucking into the skin just below her ear, "Want to make you feel good too," he mumbled against her lips, his warm breath making her shudder.
She moaned softly. He was so good with his mouth, she could only imagine how good he would be going down on her. "Will you show me how?" he asked timidly against her neck before turning to look into her eyes again.
Seo-yeo nodded breathlessly and he smiled, pulling her body closer to him as their lips brushed against each other. She sigh happily as Taehyun's hands moved around her body, caressing it with such care and love.
The sound of the door being unlocked broke the spell. Their eyes snapped open as they stared at each other, frozen. It was only when they heard her leader's voice, that they snapped out of it and jumped apart. Luckily, the two were covered, and Seo-yeon was quick to throw the cover over them, cuddling into Taehyun just before her leader entered the living room.
"Hey guys!" she greeted them with a smile "Taehyun, long time no see"
"Hi, noona. How are you?" he asked politely, making small talk with the woman.
"Unnie, I thought you were only coming back at night? Something happened?"
"Oh, my sister had an emergency so we had to cut the plans short. We'll see each other again this weekend"
"That's nice! Do you want to see a movie with us? We were just finishing..." Seo-yeon looked at the TV playing the credits of the movie she didn't really watch.
"Oh no, that's okay. You guys enjoy your time together. I'll just stay in my room and chill. We can order something for dinner later?"
"Sure!" Both Taehyun and Seo-yeon replied at the same time.
"Great! Have fun you two," she bid her farewells as she walked away to her room.
Seo-yeon bit her bottom lip, turning to look at Taehyun once her leader was out of sight. He was already looking at her with a sneaky smile and as soon as their eyes met, they both giggled.
"Guess we will have to postpone a bit," Seo-yeon said with a small smile.
"Guess we will," Taehyun kissed her one more time before pulling her into his arms.

________________________________________
Ever since Taehyun's first blowjob experience, things shifted in the relationship.
Although shy sometimes, Taehyun was more confident in taking initiatives on physical interactions with his girlfriend. His hands stayed on her longer, venturing more, his lips were bolder, and he became a pro in leaving her breathless and panting for more.
Unfortunately for them, sexual activities didn't progress as well as that since either schedule or their members would interrupt their private moments.
Seoyeon was getting frustrated. Since she had a taste of him, it felt like a new gate opened up, and she wanted more, so much more. The feeling of his lips moving against hers, sliding down her neck, his fingers grazing against her skin, hands grabing her hips, pulling you close... Her fingers and vibrator did the best they could with those imageries, but in the end, she still wanted more.
He wasn't much different. Everytime he needed to relieve himself, all he could think about was Seoyeon on her knees, taking him into her mouth so pretty. All he could imagine- more like remember, was her eyes looking up at him, asking how he felt as her hands slid up and down his cock. He remembered the warmth of her mouth and the desire to want to feel that again was enough to make him cum in the shower, noises muffled away from his members.
He wanted more. He wanted to experience more with you. Have her experience more with him. He really wanted to repay her favour to him, but most of all, he really wanted to have sex with her.
Taehyun wasn't the most emotional out of his friends, rather describing himself as more pragmatic and direct than that. He didn't see his virginity as something so profound and special that you have to lose and gift it to someone, and he couldn't imagine himself preparing to lose it in a candle lit room with roses on the bed - he would leave that to Yeonjun. He didn't care much about the concept of virginity and losing it, but at the same time, he knew he only wanted to have sex with someone he felt connect with, not really finding the appeal of doing it with a random person.
He told Seoyeon as much in one of their dates after his first sexual experience with her, after they pondered venturing more into this aspect of the relationship before being interrupted by his members barging into the dorm.
The two were in TXT's living room, sitting by the coffee table with a variation of korean Street food and soju in between the two.
The conversation surrounding the topic didn't feel as awkward anymore, and Taehyun decided to take advantage of it.
Sipping on his maekju, he asked, "How experienced are you?"
Seoyeon wasn't a virgin, that much he knew, but he couldn't phantom the extent of her knowledge in this area, and he was curious.
"Hm," she mumbled, feeling her face heat up as she took a shot to dissipate de awkwardness. Seoyeon wasn't used to talking openly about it, but seeing the look and genuine curiosity from Taehyun, she didn't feel as uncomfortable. "Not that much, really. I had a somewhat relationship before, as you know, and most things I did was with him"
"Was he... your first in everything?"
"No," she shook her head. "My first kiss was with somebody else, but he was my first time, yeah"
Taehyun nodded quietly, processing her words.
"Was it special?" he asked. Pausing for a moment, he followed with, "Nevermind. Don't think I wanna hear about you having sex with another guy"
Seoyeon laughed at that, watching amusedly as Taehyun averted his eyes, hair falling over them as his cheeks darkened a little, and his lips formed a pount. Cute.
"It was very awkward, actually," she said, gaining his attention back.
"Really?"
Seoyeon nodded, "First times are usually awkward and not that great, even more so if it is the first for both. So, yeah" she shrugged. Picking up her chopsticks again to take a piece of tteoppokki, she throw a question, "How would you like your first time to be?"
Taehyun mouth fell open in surprise, an 'ah' falling from his lips as he thought. Mind running wild as his heart skip a beat, sending blood downstairs at the thought.
"I... I don't really have scenerario in mind," he shrugged. "If you are there, it's perfect for me"
"Oh," Seoyeon bit her lip hard to prevent the smile from blossoming on her face, blood rushing to her cheeks as she subtly clenched her thighs together. "You don't want a nice date before, maybe candles and some nice music?"
Taehyun shook his head with a boyish smile, "Only you"
This time, the quirk on her lips appeared in a shy yet pleased smile, making his smile stretch a bit further as he bit his lip as he averted his gaze.
"Hm... Good to know," she glanced at him, before turning her attention to the food, trying to distract herself from the giddiness she was feeling.
A moment of silence fell around them after that as they tried to distract themselves from Taehyun's direct answer. He watched her movements quietly, enjoying how good he felt talking with her about this.
"So our first time has a high chance of being awkward and not great," he stated, and Seoyeon choked a bit on her food.
Clearing her throat, she tilted her head to the side. Taehyun was already looking at her, sipping on his drink as he did so to help with the nerves. His heart was racing at the prospect of having sex with her, and Seoyeon wasn't much different. Her body felt hotter all of the sudden.
"I don't think so..." she said catching his gaze, a small smirk appearing on her lips, "I have a good feeling about it. But... there's only one way to find out, right?" she added, biting her lips.
The implication of her words and the look on her eyes made Taehyun's breath hitch, and his pants tightened. He slid his glass on the table as he watched her lick her lips off the sauce, slowly crawling on her knees towards him until their faces were mere inches apart. They didn't kiss yet, but he felt breathless already with the tension.
Tilting his head up just a little bit, he brushed his lips against hers, and Seoyeon breathed in, closing her eyes. Taehyun's fingers entangled into her hair, stopping her from moving as he leaned in.
The moment, unfortunately, was broken the moment Yeonjun's loud voice boomed from the corridor, followed by Kai's loud cackle. The newcomers joined the couple as soon as the saw the food and drinks on the table and the tension that build up, slowly dissipated in the room, but the glances at each other didn't.
Maybe next time. They thought, catching each other's glance, fingers tightening around each others.

𧷠"did you enjoy your meal, love?" taehyun asks, wiping the corner of his mouth with a napkin before handing the waitress his card and a cash tip. he had surprised you with a late-night korean barbecue, a spontaneous decision when you found yourself craving your favorite k-bbq at 10 p.m. instead of just ordering to-go, he whisked you off for some dine-in.
âmmh, thank you tae!â he walks behind your seat and pulls it out. he holds your hand as you stand up, and his hands fall to your lower back. you both thanked the staff before heading out. you lean up to peck him on the cheek and interlock your fingers. you expect him to walk you to the car, but instead, he looks both ways and leads you across the street to the beach.
it's dark, but the streetlights leave a glow that follows you to the shore. you walk alongside the water, swinging your arms back and forth. he giggles as you crack jokes and spots a long piece of seaweed that has washed up onto the sand.
𧷠"taehyun, i swear if you come near me with that!!" you separate your hands, and he leans down to pick up the seaweed. you run across the sand, and he follows behind you, swinging the dripping seaweed. you scream, and he can't stop laughing at your terror.
"come here, baby!! i just want a kiss." he continues to chase you, and you run towards the water, splashing him. he drops the seaweed and squeals. taehyun grabs you by the waist and spins you around. the water from his clothes soaks yours, and you know exactly how to get him back.
you look down at him and hold his face with your water-soaked hands. he shakes his face, trying to get them off him, and you cackle evilly. you wipe your hand on his collared shirt and dampen it even further, " you're lucky i love you, silly."
𧷠taehyun lifts his head to plant a kiss on your lips, and drops of water that landed in his hair drip down onto your face. you brush the hair out of his face and kiss him again. he places you down gently and finds himself staring at you deeper.
"this is so romantic, isnt it? feels like we're straight out of the movies, right?" you nod at him and find yourself staring at him, too. his hair is damp, his thin button-up is partially seethrough, and his eyes are big and full of love.
"you're always gonna be my movie lover," he whispers, and you interlock your hands before leaning your head on his chest. "and you're mine, hyun."
𧷠suddenly, you remember his shirt was basically soaked, and you pull back. as the damp clothes stick to you, your face twists into a disgusted look. your hair gets stuck to his shirt, and you frown deeper. he fixes your hair and smiles at your grossed-out expression.
"let's go get you dried off," he giggles, and you lead the way to the car. you skip across the street, leaving him to follow behind you, laughing. taehyun unlocks the car doors, letting you hop in. he turns the engine on before looking over at you.
"you're so pretty, love. even if you are a menace

A streak of light flashes across the sky, a rare occurrence in the streets of Paris. Thick heavy raindrops pound the uneven pavement, littered with dried leaves and twigs.
Running down the street, huddled together under only his coat, the two of you laughed as the sound filled the streets.
The times that you got to see Taehyun were few and far between these days but the ways in which he would make it up to you were always worth it in the end.
The never ending affection he gave you when he would return, gentle kisses up your wrist as you shyly hid your face from his gaze.
From the first time that he had kissed you so gently, you realized the complete power he had over you.

That first time, on a night similar to this with much quieter patterns of rain where he wrapped his arms around you outside the door of your apartment.
Your grip on the edge of his coat beckoned for him to stay and he let out a sigh.
He didnât need to say anything, you knew that he couldnât.
Taehyun wasnât even gone and yet you already found yourself missing him, a feeling of yearning so intense that you could never have imagined before meeting him.
"Keep me in your heart.â
The sentence was fairly unlike him, you had come to find out. Later on in your relationship you found he tended to shy away from such dramatic phrases, offering a much more pragmatic outlook on things.
Despite this, he had made the exception for you.
Breathing in his scent mixed with the smell of the rain, your heart began to swell.
With the distance that soon followed, you found yourself grateful for the space it provided.
Taehyun never let the distance get the best of you, offering any second that he had free to you.
For once in your life, you believed that distance made the heart grow fonder.
With knowing him, there was a newfound desire that spurred in your heart.
Youâd try to think straight but realized you were falling so badly, everything seemed to be jumbled together. Everything except for him.
A feeling so unfamiliar you could never quite placeâ something that only seemed perfectly depicted by the movies.
You never knew that much at all about love before he came into your life but delicately, you seemed to be learning.
"You were right about the storm!" he yells over the howling wind. "Obviously! I told you we should have headed out sooner." You cried, voice charged with excitement, and he laughed.
âCan you blame me for wanting to stay with you longer?â You stumble over a stray log on the sidewalk as he reaches out to catch you.
Finally reaching the safety of your apartment, the awning above providing shelter from the rain.
The two of you tumble on the dry grass laughing without a care for the mess youâd become.
He tosses aside his drenched coat, wrapping his arms around your waist.
Your bag falls from hands, contents consisting of broken hand mirrors and flavored lip glosses spilling out.
The world froze around you as he kissed you good night.
The moon peeks through the treetops and you are content.
With moments of silence like this, youâd think back to your first conversation at some fashion designer event you canât recall the name of now.
âI live in a dorm with the others," he said, describing it in such a way that when you finally came to scale those vast, wooden floors, it was like you had seen it a thousand times before.
As if it had always been there, waiting to welcome you. Like the pretty, sunlit corner of his room that remained unfurnished, sitting empty until your visit, now filled with your paints and brushes.
Emptied drawers now occupied by articles of clothing slowly growing larger after every visit you had made, always leaving a trace of you behind as a reminder of what he had waiting for him in Paris.
An 8 hour time difference and ruined sleep schedules never seemed to falter your shared determination.
To each other, you were worth it.
Youâd never been so glad to be so tired.
Often times when it was your turn to visit, you would fondly call him your Frankenstein, a man who was a patchwork of all the things you had ever longed for.
Heâd grimace at the thought of something so ugly and youâd laugh, poking his dimple only for him to teasingly bite your finger.
As youâd cringe and push him away with a loud âeughâ he would be the one laughing, arm locked around you as he trapped you to pull you in.
The soft kiss heâd place on your forehead was enough to silence you.
Taehyun always gave you such giftsânot the kind that were put in boxes, but the sort that filled you with imagination, breathing indescribable happiness into your life even from a distance.
Notes he had given you in person and letters he had sent overseas, all the words he had wrote seemed to thread together into a ribbon perfectly tied around your heart.
As if he had cast a spell on you with them, each word was forever burned into your mind and with it the memory of each moment you read them.
The love Taehyun had provided was all-consuming, sometimes you found yourself crying as you lost all control.
The heavy realization of how unbelievably in love you were with him, how unbelievably grateful you were.
Cursing at the moon as if it were somehow at fault for the distance between the two of you.
Late into the night when you came to your senses, your hushed apologies were enough as the moon lulled you back to sleep with the reminder that as long as the two of you looked up at the same one, the two of you were always connected.
Despite how far you were from each other due to your occupations, he always made sure to integrate parts of you into his life and you, him.
One particular visit to Paris for work he had come, hands full of heavy bags. Curiously, you tried to peek in only for him to shake his head and follow you into your apartment.
That day, rather than going out for some fancy dinner, the two of you stayed in and spent the hours conversing while painting intricate designs on flower pots.
"So you can create your little monstrous plants," he explained.
Secretly, he had hoped you would gift him one to bring back with him. A small part of you and Paris to bring back home.
And somehow, by some miracle stroke of luck, you handed the pot back to him with a small seed tightly packed inside of it.
âWhat is this?â
âItâll be a surprise, just keep nurturing it. Okay?â
Now, the potted plants he had brought back were suddenly littered around his room despite his lack of a green thumb.
And his love for the gesture trumped any sense of doubt that he had in his ability to keep it alive, doing his best to nurture the plants just as you had asked.
With time, it would grow just as you promised.
No matter what it was, he looked forward to it.
Due to the constant presence of social media in your work and personal relationships, the sacred times you spent together in person were spent unplugged.
Finding anything to occupy yourselves, youâd go wherever the cities would take you.
On your first time visiting the HYBE buildingâs rooftop garden, Taehyun had showed you how to catch the stray butterflies that fluttered from their elusive neighbors.
You told him about the rumors that companies would farm them for cosmetic use.
He listened in morbid fascination as you described how the helpless insects were cruelly dismembered, before their fragile and beautiful wings were crushed and ground into a fine powder.
âYour lips would look beautiful painted with butterly wings," he would tease you, his thumb brushing your lower lip.
A scoff of fake offense would escape your lips as you shoved him away, only to lock hands and pull him closer shortly after.
"Yeah right.â
The two of you had spent much of your days alone, in your peaceful sanctuaries, apart from the peering eyes of the outside world.
When the weather was good, the two of you would venture out of Paris, past the worn jetty and picnic of the cityâs little beach.
You, with a small, amused smile on your lips, hair tousled by the sea wind. You were different from anything he had ever known.

Chronicles of the crumpled pages of poetry detailing past attempts at love can be found in the trash of your bedroom where youâre not a woman, but a girl instead. Through all the desperate yearning for love, only one flame was strong enough to make it out.

Dear Huening Kai,
Iâm not really sure how to start this letter. I hope this finds you well seems devastatingly distant and cold, like Iâm writing a business letter. I never wrote you a letter before, everything that we shared had been in the form of hushed whispers in the back of the classroom. Notes, surely I had written hundreds through the years. Eventually though, your desk no longer belonged to you and my notes found their place in the trash.
The final note, just as short as all the others had three words. Iâm sure that you can guess what they were. My hands were clammy and the lettering was shaky but even still, I held that note close to my heart. I waited much longer than I should haveâ after the first week it should have been obvious that you werenât returning to our sacred corner of the world.
Iâm not sure why Iâm writing this now after having crumpled that note away, hidden away inside of that class binder youâd scribbled on. The doodles made the both of us laugh in the moment but looking at them now just makes me miss our schooldays.
Anyways, these are the things that I want for you that I never got to tell you.

I want you to be happy. I want someone to know the warmth of your smile and to feel the way I did when I was in your presence. Iâm sure you havenât thought of me at all since you left but you saved my life back then by being my friend. I hope that I could have made you as happy as you made me.
When school was absolutely dreadful, we found each other. When everyone picked me last, you had always sought me out first. Maybe thatâs why I believed you were the first boy I ever loved.
I want you to know how happy you made my years and though your leaving really did hurt me, in the end, I was better for it. I don't know if what we had was just puppy love, but if it wasn't, then I hope to never to fall deeper in love than I was with you.
Because of you, I know Iâm too fragile to bear it.
My love has abandoned me, do with that what you will.
Love,
From, Y/N.

Dear Kang Taehyun,
Do you remember our first day? When I first saw you I was convinced you would be the romantic lead to finally convince me to take another chance at love. When we first spoke, I quickly came to realize that you werenâtâ you were yourself and somehow, that was worse. Because I loved you more than any idealized version of you I had ever known.
Anyways, that first night the fog lifted and all around us were trees linking hands, like children playing. It reminded me of a boy I had known in my youth and suddenly I was 16 years old again desperately holding my feelings to my chest, afraid to speak as if the moment would slip away once more.
And somewhere along the way, messy confessions of admiration written on ripped out binder paper became carefully lettered confessions on parchment paper, sealed beautifully with wax only to never be opened.
Our first night, when you stood by the door, conflicted, as I sat there with my knees tucked under my chin, smiling. Then through the window, over the horizon was the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen. Soon, your breath was on my neck as compliments spilled from your lips in a whisper. When I shied away from your touch, the first boy to touch me, you told me I looked lovely and for the first time in my life: I had felt it.
I sometimes think about the fragility of glassâ ofbroken shards tearing against soft skin. The prickly feeling of tears as youâd stare down at the red glossy blood beginning to seep out.
It was almost painful how you respected meâ how you accepted my rejections with a gentle smile.
And in truth, it is the transparency of the glass that kills you. The pain of seeing through to something you can never quite touch and the sting that followed after.
Your arms around my waist, the cold wind coming through the window howled as the sea whispered with the scent of sea salt filling the room. That night had felt so intimate and special to me, how welcoming you had been to my fear.
When the morning came, you were off and the sea continued to whisper your name.
Come back to me.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Beomgyu,
I gave you the best of meâ the year, the days, the hours. Precious little, in turn youâd given, like nutrients for a wilting flower. A last minute attempt at nurturing a broken heart. It had worked for the time. For that, Iâm grateful.
I never said those three words to youâ I wasnât sure if I would be able to bring myself to. For anytime I had gotten closeâ to this idea of loveâ it had slipped away just beyond my reach.
I want you to remember my lips beneath your fingers and how you told me things you never told another soul.
Always the mood maker on camera, those glimpses into your soul that you had provided me were more special than you could have ever imagined.
Every moment between us had been captured with your camera. Now, I canât recall if I had ever looked into your eyes without that thing in my face. For the sake of the memories, I let you have it. How dearly you loved that camera, I eventually hoped that could be me.
And those rare moments without it, on the quiet hood of your car as we sat looking up toward the sky were the ones I would remember forever. How you traced circles into my back as effortlessly as you would change the cameraâs lens.
And my heart would skip at the thought that you were maybe, just maybe, beginning to know every inch of me as much as you knew that camera.
I want you to know that I have kept sacred everything you had entrusted in me and I always will.
Now I do wonder if there will be a morning when you'll wake up missing me as much as I missed miss you. I guiltily found myself hoping that some incident in your life would have finally taught you the value of my worth, that some poor girl much stronger than me would say the words that I longed to and mean it for the momentâ only to break your heart in the end.
And you would feel a surge of longing, when you remember how I was good to you.
If that day ever comes then I hope you will look for me. I hope you will look with the kind of conviction that youâd always shown me, searching for me in every passing face.
Because I want to be found again. And I hope itâs you and the secrets you shared who find me.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Soobin,
Have you forgotten me?
Please tell me what you've heard, in passing between mutual friendsâ gatherings and in memories dug up by algorithms beyond your control.
I guard your memory jealously because with you I'd placed my worth. Because after losing so muchâ you seemed so perfect. I was ready to give it all up. Everything.
I was officially half out of my mind with love.
And I didn't think twice about what I was throwing into the fire, as long as I could keep it burning for just another minuteâ if only I was allowed to sit awhile longer beside its pale glow with my head on your shoulder while your gentle hums lured me to sleep.
That was how I loved you in the end. With my body cold and shuddering, empty hands over smoldering ash, counting out the minutes for your return.
And eventually, like all the love before, I had to realize that you werenât coming back.
There I sat by the sad pile of ash only accompanied by a lukewarm, bitter tasting beer. You had complained that my wine was much too sharp.
Even with you gone I found myself trying to cater towards your taste. Yet despite the arguments we would have, mostly at my own fault, I prayed for the moments you would come back and drag me back home with you.
You showed me the particular kind of suffering to be experienced when you love something so deeply that you end up burning yourself too close to the flame. A tender sacrifice.
Like bent and broken feet of a dancing ballerina, it was in every considered step I took in the opposite direction of you.
If I ever felt like home to you, it was because you were safe with me. I want you to know that most of all.
Maybe in another time, I could have been your home. I donât know anymore.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear Choi Yeonjun,
It was in you that I had found everything I ever loved before and more, all at once.
Everything I had lost returned to me once more as if to remind me of what I would never have. Or maybe you were sent to give me hope again.
It was in the pained silence, comparable only to the lost song of a mermaid, I had come to terms with the fact that it was the first option.
At the place where you found me, under the half-moon and its half-light of the park. You said, if only you had met me there that night. Maybe we could have found our way. If we had met later on as more developed versions of ourselves, we could have stood a chance.
And I laughed, with no humor at all. Because at our age, it felt I had no more time to wait.
I learned something about sadness after that day, you ruffling my hair to comfort me before walking away without a goodbye or see you soon.
You showed me insanity like an open window, seven storeys high as I stared to the ground far below, teetering on the edge. And it was just as terrible and as beautiful as you and I.
Because I loved youâ and I had finally said it, after so many years of chasing. I admitted to you: you were my everything.
With your arm around my shoulder as you entertained a group of people I couldnât bother to remember the names of, I found myself looking up at you with pure adoration.
Suave and cool, you seemed to be everything love had told me I needed. Because with you, I was revered as well. Even to everyone around you: to be loved by you, I must have been special.
When your face fell at my confession, guilt evident on your faceâ I came to realize I must not have been special enough.
And you said pure bliss was a storm cloud, just before the rain would burst into the night sky, like a thousand aquatic stars-and not one single moment before.
And you were right. You were right about it all.
Love
From, Y/N.

Dear, ââââ
There were letters that I had wrote you that I gave up sending, long before I stopped writing. I don't remember their contents, but I can recall with absolute clarity, your name scrawled across the pages.
I could never quite contain you to those messy sheets of ink. I couldnât stop you from overtaking everything else, writing for hours on end only to feel overwhelmed all over again at the building tower of papers in the trash.
Because any other letters written to all the boys I had loved before were never quite as visceral as yours.
I wrote your name over and overâ on torn scraps of paper, on binders and on the back of my wrists. On mirrors as I stared back at myself, eyes puffy and wide with tears.
And I carved it like sacred markings into trees and thought of adding my own, only to realize how utterly and pathetically in love I must have seemed.
Passersby in the park would smile and whisper behind their hands: how beautiful was a girl in love?
To have carved your name into the trees and the tops of tabletops, you must have been so incredibly special. How lucky you were to be loved by me, they must have thought.
Sometimes when I read a book, parts will lift from the pages in an anagram of your name. The words on the page would move themselves around, shuffling in some twisted dance to fade into you. Like a code to remind me it's not over. It was never over.
And in the end, I find myself returning to you. Only you. In this first letter: the one that Iâll finally send, Iâm lending my heart to you in hopes youâll return to me.
Because as I was, and as I amâ as I will always be,
I am completely and utterly yours.
And so I am sending this: baring my soul and heart to you. It has been beaten and bruised after all this time.
All I can hope is that you can learn to become very, very careful with this fragile heart. And in turn I will reflect all of the pain I have experienced throughout these years onto you, as it has been purified into this new form of love.
Iâll be waiting at our spot. Come find me.
Love, your Y/N.

Happy 5 year anniversary, my TXT. â„ïž

Dancing with Taehyun on the ice was your favorite past time but recently heâs seeming more and more distracted.

àȘââŽâĄ wc 2k ⧠fluff

As the frosty air enveloped the ice rink, two figure skaters stood side by side, their hearts pounding in unison with the rhythm of the music.
You and Taehyun were a team, bound together by a presumed shared passion for the sport and a bond forged through countless hours of practice and dedication.
Originally partnered through word of mouth between both of your coaches, the two of you initially felt dragged down by the other.
It wasnât that Taehyun was particularly upset that the two of you had been partnered together: you were both incredibly talented and if there was anyone in your guysâ rink that was suitable to be his partner, it was you.

Neither of you had ever worked with a partner beforeâ that was where the hesitancy had stemmed from at first.
Despite this, both of you had the same goals for future competitions and got together with your coaches for a tryout.
As the music began to play, the two of you glided onto the ice with perfectly fluid movements. Each twist and turn was executed with precision, albeit a bit stiff at the time, your bodies began to move as one in perfect harmony with the music.
The butterflies in your stomach had their wings torn apart, stomped out with the blade of your skates as your mind reminded you what the two of you were working toward.
The last thing you could afford was having a crush on your partnerâ especially Taehyun with his eyes thats depths seemed to hold the secrets of the universe in them.
Definitely not.
In the fluorescent light of the rink, shimmering with a soft, warm hue, radiating warmth with every glance despite his focused expression.
When they meet yours, they drew you in as if you were falling into a flame.
Putting all of your faith and trust into this total stranger, he threw you into the air with you spinning in the air as your heart felt it could burst out of your chest.
When you landed from the perfectly executed spin, you locked eyes with Taehyun and the two of you reached out to grab each otherâs hands.
The two of you were solidified as the perfect match.

In the hushed serenity of the empty ice rink, Taehyun stepped onto the glistening surface with a deep breath, his blades slicing through the smooth ice with a soft whisper.
The air was cool and crisp, carrying the faint scent of freshly resurfaced ice and salt.
He came intending to practice for the event but instead found his thoughts full of you.
Over the years, the two of you had entered an endless amount of competitions and won each time so it was frustrating that suddenly he couldnât get you off of his mind.
With a deep breath, he began his routine, effortlessly moving across the ice. Each step was deliberate, every gesture filled with intention as he hummed to himself to fill the silence and distract himself from thoughts of you.
You and how effortlessly breathtaking you were.
It would be his luck that you had wandered in, standing just outside the rink watching him practice. A small smile tugged at your lips as you leaned against the protective glass with a knock and a wink.
Noticing you from the corner of his eye, a similar expression finds it onto his face as he can only think of how ridiculous you were to come here so late just as he had.
Maybe that was why you had been the perfect partners. Shared determination aside, there were no others as dedicated as you were.
When the two of you were passionate about something, you put your all into it.
As you watched Taehyun, you lost yourself in the rhythm as he executed jumps and spins with precision, his movements confident as he pushes himself to the limits of his skill.
In the quiet moments between the jumps and spins, you found he looked the most beautiful.
Taehyun didnât want to be a figure skater. You knew this, it was one of the first things he had ever confided in you about.
You didnât understand at firstâ this was all you ever wanted, the idea that someone as good as him wasnât even interested in it at all was a complete surprise.
When you heard his voice for the first time, though, you understood. Taehyun was born to perform, perhaps not in this particular way, but you were sure that he was.
Despite your encouragement to pursue his love for singing, he hadnât made anymore comments about it since. You felt disappointed for him, hearing his hums in his day to day throughout practices.
He breathed music.
If Taehyun looked as beautiful as he did now doing something that he wasnât interested in, you couldnât imagine how he would look on stage.
Watching him over the years: you had realized just how deep the love you had for him ran. As much as you wanted to deny it, it had always been there.
Watching him perform was like witnessing star after star exploding like fireworks, as you fixed your gaze light-years into the sky.
To him, you were everything on the ice but to you? You were only a pinprick of dust compared to him.
You often found yourself daydreaming about what it would be like if you had admitted these feelings to him outside of the rink, during your casual meet ups at cafes to discuss schedules and practice.
You also wondered if he had someone he returned to once you left. The first time you felt his presence, you began joining the dots in the sky, wondering if your stars could ever align.
As Taehyun skated across the ice, his movements become a reflection of his innermost thoughts and emotions, face a mask of concentration.
It was true that Taehyun wasnât as passionate in his skating as you had initially believed upon meeting him. His skill was simply due to his consistent training, not any specific desire to succeed inside of him.
Though over the years, he had grown to love skating just as he had grown to love you.
Your passion and love for what you did was infectious and the smile that you would give him when the two of you nailed everything exactly how you wantedâ that had become his new motivation.
With each practiced turn and twist, his dedication to get it right fueled his every step. The ice beneath his feet became a canvas of sorts.
As the routine drew to a close, he comes to a graceful stop at the center of the rink, his chest heaving with exertion as he looked over to see if you were still watching. Hoping.
When he saw you waving against the glass with a proud smile, his heart had skipped a beat and he almost swore he could have fallen dead right there.
In that solitary moment of practice he had found not only fulfillment but also you: his sense of purpose that somehow managed to break free from the confines of the rink.

In the hushed backstage area of the ice rink, you and Taehyun stood side by side, hearts racing with anticipation and nerves.
âWeâre gonna do good, right?â You asked, voice wavering with a sudden uncertainty.
He smiled as he finished tying the ribbon in your hair neatly. âWeâre gonna do great.â
The two of you were a study in contrasts: him tall and statuesque, you much more petite agile, yet together the two of you formed a perfectly formidable team.
âRight. Great. Weâre gonna do great!â You said, a nervous laugh at the end of your sentence as you clapped your hands together.
Taehyun took a deep breath as he gently grabbed your shoulders, turning you to look at him. You hated when he did this, suddenly feeling lightheaded under his gaze.
âYouâre gonna do great, Y/N. Iâm not gonna let you fall.â He smiled, the warmest smile you had ever seen.
When you had first met Taehyun, he seemed so convinced that he was as cold as ice. To you, it was very obvious he wasnât by his eyes alone and the kindness they held when he looked at you.
No matter how cold he may think he is, his love was the warmest of all.
Confidence growing, you straightened your back and nodded with a determined look.
âWe got this.â
As the two of you laced up your skates, your movements were focused and deliberate, each knot tied with care.
Even before getting on the ice, your heart was beating wildly in your ears.
Another exchange of knowing glances were made, eyes reflecting a mixture of excitement and apprehension on your end as you prepared to take the ice.
With final adjustments to both of your costumes, you finally enter into the rink.
Stepping out onto the ice, the chill sent a familiar shiver down your spine. The lights above casted a glow over the ice, illuminating the stage for the upcoming performances.
As the two of you started onto the ice, graceful as ever, your bodies moved in the perfect synchronization everyone expected.
In the flurry of activity, there was a quiet confidence that radiated from the two of you, a belief in each other that gives you courage.
Repeating Taehyunâs words in your voice certainly helped to calm your nerves since you trusted him to follow through on his promise as he had many times before.
From how seamlessly he executed everything, it truly was undeniable that he was meant to be in the spotlight.
Even if he hadnât been your partner, there was no way you could take your eyes off of him.
As the haunting melody of a violin fills the air, the two of you created a mesmerizing tableau of power on the rink.
The music swelled, your blades carving intricate patterns into the ice with each effortless glide.
Bodies intertwined in a delicate dance that told a story of loss, redemption and anything else that the audience was looking for in their current state. Telling the story they wanted to hear.
To you, it told the story of two kids who had fallen in love with the ice and each other.
Your skill was clear to every pair of peering eyes as you blended elements of classical ballet with the athleticism of figure skating. Your form was perfect, executing every move textbook.
As you soared through the air with each breathtaking leap, Taehyun found himself holding his breath as well.
The moments the two of you skate side by side, eyes meeting in a silent exchange of camaraderie, his heart beats along with the rhythm of the music.
As the music reached its crescendo, you come together in the final, breathtaking lift, Taehyunâs hands lifting you high into the air with effortless strength.
Catching your breath mid air, you scanned the crowd while doing your best to hide your expression.
For a moment, the two of you seemed suspended in time, bodies silhouetted against the backdrop of the ice rink, before you descended gracefully back to the ice in a perfect landing.
As the final notes of the music faded away, the audience erupts into applause, their cheers echoed off the walls of the rink as they rise to their feet in a standing ovation.
It felt as if your heart was going to burst and the stoic expression falls away from your face as you let out the nervous laugh you had been holding in, turning to Taehyun.
Instantly his eyes found yours and he laughed along with you, high off of the cheers and praises being yelled toward the two of you.
Amidst this adulation of the crowd, Taehyun gave you a knowing smile and your heart did a flip once again.
You knew that your bond was stronger than ever in the wake of this specific performance as he pulled you in for a hug, the cheers growing even louder.
Something changed in the way he held you.
Making way for the other couples to perform, you and Taehyun stood at the edge of the ice, waiting for your return to the spotlight.
Your eyes glistened with admiration as you watched the next pair, and then the next. Cheering out words of affirmation and encouragement to any and all competitors, Taehyun laughed.
âYou really do love this, donât you?â
You turned to him. âDid you ever doubt it?â
Standing from the bench he was at, he looked down at you and took a step forward. Unsure of how you would react if he hugged you so spontaneously, he instead grabbed your hands in his.
âIâd never doubt you.â
The moment of solidarity, hands clasped tightly together in a silent vow of support.
âThank you for sticking around,â you started.
He nodded.
âBut I want you to do what makes you happy, Taehyun. Not me.â
He furrowed his eyebrows together for a moment, an unreadable expression making its way onto his face.
âYou make me happy. Being here with you, makes me happy.â
In that moment, it was confirmed in your mind that something had shifted. Maybe you had always known that the two of you werenât just two individuals competing against the world.

It was after the competition, trophy in hand, that the two of you stood outside of the building.
Everything that had felt so scaryâ so final, was now over. The adrenaline had faded and the crowds had dispersed, any stragglers offering their congratulations as they passed you by.
The moonlight casted a soft glow over the two of you as you hugged the trophy close to you. The trophy that you and Taehyun had won, together.
âTaehyun,â you started.
âWhen I said that I wanted you to do what makes you happy⊠I meant it.â
Taehyun chuckled, his hand reaching for yours again. Instead of a grand confession, he expressed his love with gentle touches.
âI meant what I said, too.â
Your heart was overflowing with emotion and you looked at the ground, kicking at the concrete with your sneakers. Somehow you felt exposed outside of the rink dressed down like this, yet, Taehyun had always insisted you looked just as beautiful.
âYou make me happy.â
If you were pressed against each other, you would have felt your hearts beat in unison.
As you looked up once more, your eyes met, that fragile bubble of intimacy, that you knew all too well and clung to with a sense of desperation.
âPlease, donât hold back for me. Iâm happy.â You whisper, voice barely above a whisper.
Taehyun could feel the gravity of the moment and did his best to soothe you, gently tracing over your knuckles in a comforting motion.
âI know that you want to sing, and you should. So please donât lie to me. Iâm happy, Taehyun. Iâm so, so happy because of all the years weâve spent together. But thereâs nothing here to work towards for you and I donât want you to not pursue your dreams just because ofâŠâ
âOf?â
ââŠWhatever it is that we have.â
For a moment, there was silence, broken only by the soft sound of your breath mingling in the air.
Suddenly, he smirked and you found yourself growing irritated with his inability to take you seriously. âAnd what is it that we have?â
You scoffed, ripping your hands away from him in annoyance. âDonât be a jerk!â
He laughed, reaching for your hand again and bringing it up to his mouth, placing a gentle kiss against your knuckles.
âSorry, sorry. I know what youâre trying to say. I appreciate it, and I think youâre right.â
Your eyes widened in surprise, after so long of him denying himself the chance, he had given in much easier than you expected.
âYouâre really gonna try?â The smile that grew on your face was one of pure ecstasy as he nodded.
Carelessly, you had dropped the heavy trophy you were holding, throwing your arms around him with a giggle that managed to bubble out.
The flowers Taehyun had been holding were being crushed between the two of you, yet neither of you seemed to care.
Both of you stood together, his one hand being placed gently on the back of your head as you buried your face closer into him.
âPromise to come see me on stage, then?â
You scoffed, âobviously! I love you, you idiotâŠâ
This time, he rolled his eyes at you playfully. âGeez, really? Your confession could have been a little more gentle.â
âWhatever, says the self-proclaimed ice king.â You pulled away and brought your hand up to cup his cheek.
âIâll be front row at every show, okay? Iâm not going anywhere.â
You knew that no matter where your paths would lead you, you would always be bound by the thread of love that connects you, now and forever.
âMe neither.â
Everything about Taehyun shined to youâ you loved how his eyes danced happily, and the gentle way he spoke; the way he filled your aimless days when you felt demotivated with bitterness and hope.
You had loved him as you fell to sleep, and each morning as you woke up to his new messages. When he would bring you lunch at the rink, even long after he hung up his skates.
It was never any question that your love was as timeless and enduring as the frozen surface that would always remain beneath your feet, decorated with the carvings you had created together.

PHONING... đ àŁȘË carnival.

Essentially becoming a shut-in due to your extreme fear of crowds, your friends are determined to take you out and show you how much fun things can be.

The carnival bursted at the seams with life under the moonlit sky. If your eyes had lost focus for even a moment it would fade into a kaleidoscope of lights over the bustling crowd.
The ambience was almost overwhelming to you, someone who didnât know the world could be so loud outside of the safety net of your headphones.
Amidst the laughter and music, your group of friends had somehow found you waiting by the entrance pathway awkwardly. And suddenly, the scent of cotton candy and popcorn became the backdrop for your exciting night.
You found yourself anxious for what the night would bring, unaware of just how excited they were as well.

You, who walked the earth freely without your feet ever truly touch the ground. To anyone who passed by it seemed as if you floated by with the wind.
Many hands would reach for you but you, who were completely unaware, remained unanchored.
Belonging to no one, to nothing, to nowhere. Existing only in a world of music, your own little world.
It seemed that you only awarded your attention to people who you thought truly deserved it, so when you had agreed to go to the carnival with the group of boys theyâd been ecstatic.
It had been a shock, in all honesty. Not for a lack of interest: you had been friends with them all for a long while, but you werenât too keen on loud blowout events such as these and instead shied away from them. Your willingness to try and enjoy the night with them had them feeling grateful.
Soobin and Taehyun had been the most understanding initially, preferring much quiet nights in themselves with their own tendency to get annoyed by the recklessness of those around them.
Beomgyu understood but he had brought it up a few times before you had agreed, insisting that he would win you all the prizes on the fairgrounds if you came.
Kai hadnât pressured you about it all considering he wasnât a fan of the rides himself, not really wanting to go at all but tagging along to win some new plushies for his collection.
Yeonjun had bugged you, much more often than he would ever admit, but he couldnât help it seeing as he just needed his best friend to come or the night would have been ruined.
Considering your distaste for these kinds of overwhelming events, you were fairly hard for the boys to make plans with. They were almost always busy doing something so when they did try to spend time together, it was usually doing fun stuff like this.
When they met you though, they were quick to recognize you for what you really wereâ a free spirit, a wandering star. Hard to pin down.
Yeonjunâs arm fit right on your shoulder like he was made to be there. And Kaiâs grip on your sleeve didnât feel like any extra weight, it somehow felt like an extension of you.
Taehyunâs laugh had become your favorite sound, along with the company of Soobin and Beomgyuâs constant teasing and bickering.
You grew to love your friends, any and all parts of themâ you were sure that you would love them always, no matter where you were scattered throughout the galaxy.
And you had showed them what it means to hold something you can never really hold on to, always managing to slip away just in time before their confessions could stumble out.

âLooking good, Y/N! For someone who didnât want to come you look like you put some effort in for me.â
His arm found itsâ home on your shoulder as always, shifting his weight onto your frame and you rolled your eyes.
âFor us?â Taehyun emphasized, waving to the other boys who followed.
Yeonjunâs eyes left you as he looked back at them and pouted out his lips with an annoyed look. âEh.â
Confused, you gently pulled his arm off of you and turned to face him fully, leaning against the fencepost you stood at.
âI didnât do anything different, youâre delusional.â
âIgnore him, heâs teasing you.â Soobin said before flashing you a small smile, hands placed in his pockets. âYou do look nice though, like usual.â
Maybe it was the endless chatter of the people around you or the fact that said people who were rushing past you could probably hear the heartfelt compliments that had you flustered.
âAh⊠thank you.â
Beomgyu fake gagged, hitting Soobinâs shoulder. âYou guys arenât subtle at allâŠâ
Kai nodded in agreement. âItâs making me sick and I havenât even had any cotton candy yet.â
Yeonjunâs eyes widened and he quickly waved at Beomgyu, âEhâ yeah and no way youâre gonna!â It was almost like he immediately entered himself as a substitute for their parental figures in that moment.
You found yourself hiding behind your hand as you laughed at his bewildered facial expression.
âRemember the last time? You spewed that junk all over me, I went back home looking like a troll!â
The topic of food had your mind wandering for a moment as you felt your stomach growl. Memories of going to fairs with your family as a child had hit you as you remembered what you used to enjoy before you shut away.
ââŠIâm kind of craving fried dough, actually.â
Taehyun turned to you, âwe should get snacks, then.â
About to accept his offer, you nodded only to be cut off by Kai.
âNo way, games and rides first and snacks later.â
Soobin shrugged, âwhy donât we just get snacks halfway through the rides?â
Yeonjun let out an annoyed huff at your lack of attention, âyeah, yeah⊠fine. Letâs go.â
The six of you began making your way in, the colors bursting to life like a technicolor dream. In your opinion, it was all too much but the vibrant tents and swirling rides did pique your interest.
Taehyun snickered from beside you, âworried Beomgyuâs gonna get into a cotton candy coma again, huh?â
Beomgyu almost seemed embarrassed by what he was talking about as he turned to you with an expression of what seemed like mock offense. âIt wasât that bad!â
âTell that to my hair...â Yeonjun grumbled, nudging Soobin to switch places with him at your side.
âWhatever, your hairs fried to hell anyways!â Beomgyu said in a teasing tone.
Soobin gave Yeonjun a smile and instead turned toward you next to him, causing him to pout.
âHey, why donât we test our luck at the ring toss?â
You thought about it for a moment, glancing over at the tent to inspect the rewards. âFor what? A goldfish?â
He shrugged.
Seeming as you ultimately came up with nothing of value from that tent, you turned your attention to the one next to it and smiled.
âLook, thereâs a huge penguin plush. Kai needs it!â
Kai perked up at the mention of himself and looked over to the tent, eyes widening a bit at the size of the prize you were looking at. Despite that, he laughed.
âWhat? No he doesnât, heâs practically drowning in thââ you rolled your eyes at Yeonjunâs arguing.
âWow, Yeonjun⊠donât you want to make Kai happy? What if that penguin plush is the final one he ever gets? What if a meteor hits us right now? And we all die, sad and alone with no penguin to accompany us at our bitter end.â
You moved in front of the group of boys and grabbed Kaiâs hand to lead him toward the tent.
âHe doesnât need it, Y/N. Thereâs a difference between need and wantââ
âOkay, mom.â Beomgyu snickered and Yeonjunâs cheeks heated up out of embarrassment. All he wanted was to spend time with you, not do whatever this was.
âI do. I need it, or Iâm gonna die.â Kai said, playing along with you. âSad and alone.â
Putting on a panicked tone, you jumped back and pulled Yeonjun forward, pushing him in front of you as you shoved him toward the booth.
âYeonjun!! Heâs gonna die! Hurry, hurry! To the basketball booth!â
âYahâ Hey! Stop shoving me! And stop being so morbid!â
Next to you, Kai leaned on Yeonjun as he let out a dramatic groan. âUgh⊠Y/N I donât think I have much longerâŠâ
Your eyes widened, âoh, no! Kai?! Nurse!! Nurseâ!!â
Finally giving into your shenanigans, Yeonjun couldnât help but crack a smile as he pushed Kai off of his shoulder.
âYeah, yeah. I get it. Just stop yapping, youâre gonna get us dragged to the medical tent before Beomgyu even overdoses.â
âIâm not overdosing this time!!â Beomgyu called out behind you three.
When the six of you reach the tent, you wait patiently for the other patrons to leave with their prizes before you stood, motioning for Yeonjun to go. âYouâre not gonna try?â He asked.
You laughed, âyeah. No way. Never, actually. Never been good at sports, donât even wanna try.â
âY/N⊠the hoops right there. Itâs not even that far of a distance.â Soobin said.
Shooting him a glare, you motioned toward the booth. âFine then, you try.â He jutted out his lips for a moment as if in deep thought then shrugged, situating himself next to Yeonjun.
The carny handed them their first basketballs before activating the rig, the hoops suddenly moving across the board in front of them.
Kai shot you a look and you shrugged.
Yeonjun was fairly confident that he could get some in, considering that he was arguably the best out of them at basketball.
Even with Soobinâs height, he was sure he could beat him.
Unfortunately for Yeonjun, your cheers of encouragement found him a bit too determined to try hard and impress you and he completely missed each shot, losing to Soobin by one single goal.
One that only fell into the hoop because Yeonjunâs ball had hit it directly into it.
That definitely hurt his ego a bit.
âOuch! Cringe shotâŠâ
âThanks, Beomgyu.â
âYouâre welcome!â
âSo⊠what was the strategy there? Just wild flinging?â Taehyun asked and Yeonjun just let out a nervous laugh. âI guess Iâm just off my game today.â
âWell⊠guess Iâll die.â You giggled at this and turned to Kai, raising your fist. âWeâll get you one of them later, promise.â He smiled and bumped his fist with yours.
âPlus, itâs not Yeonjunâs fault. Soobin just has such good luck when it comes to games, right?â You asked, following behind them as they started to walk.
âOr Iâm just the best!â Soobin called after.

The scent of fried delights and sugary treats was thick in the air once more, the smell of more savory things than sweet making you wonder if you were now approaching the actual food area.
The mechanical whirring of the rides had you raising your voice as you all talked, âwhat about that?â You called.
They followed your eyes to see a few game machines lined up, you making your way over there.
âSheâs doing really well,â Taehyun said happily.
Yeonjun nodded. âShe is, isnât she?â
Standing in front of the carnival games "Whack-a-Mole Madness," you poked at the buttons before realizing you had to enter a quarter.
Embarrassingly enough, before you could scramble around in your bag, Taehyun had come up and inserted a coin for you. You smiled sheepishly and gave him a quick thank you as he nodded, moving to the machine next to you.
âI wanna try,â Beomgyu exclaimed, rushing to the machine on your other side. âHere.â Taehyun reached over you, handing Beomgyu a coin as he thanked him.
The three of you grabbed the foam mallet and the machine began to ding wildly, colors flashing as you were tasked with squashing pesky mechanical moles as they popped up randomly from their burrows.
It was fun for a few moments before you found yourself growing irrationally annoyed at the moles that you kept missing. âTeach them a lesson, Y/N!â
With each successful whack, lights flash, bells ring, and the mole retreats into hiding, only to pop up again in another spot. You were doing fairly well, or so you thought, until you turned to Taehyun to see him expertly wack each one back down with ease.
Your eyes widened a bit, âyouâre so good at it?!â
He raised an eyebrow at you. âYou think so? Here, Iâll help youââ Taehyun put down the mallet on his machine as moles began to pop up all over, similarly to yours had while youâd been distracted.
Taehyun moved behind you but before he could grab your hands to show you, the two of you were distracted by a loud dinging sound.
Beomgyu threw the mallet down hard at the machine, whacking every single mole at a feverish speed. The dinging came as the time limit ended and he laughed loudly, throwing the mallet. âHAH! I WON!â
You laughed as he jumped back to the other boys, cheering as Soobin gave him a high five.
âNice, Beomgyu!â
Satisfied with the bragging rights that come from being crowned the (unofficial) Whack-a-Mole champion of the carnival, Beomgyu kept the smile on his face as he dramatically spun on his heel to face you. âI think you know what this calls for.â
You raised an eyebrow at him but before you could ask, he cut you off. âCotton candy.â
Yeonjunâs eyes widened, almost in horror. âAw, manâŠâ
Soobin snickered, âit was doomed to happen eventually.â
âEh, whatever. His body, his choice. Youâre gonna be the one giving him a piggy back ride when he complains about his stomach.â
âNope. Not it. Kai.â
âWhat?! Why me?â
âYour piggy back rides are the best.â Soobin said in a matter of fact tone.
âSo? Donât sign me up for that.â Kai argued, though everyone was well aware that if anyone actually needed it, he wouldnât hesitate to pick them up.
âI am a grown man.â Beomgyu said with a straight face.
âWith the stomach issues of a teenage girl.â Taehyun added.
Soobin gently tapped you on the shoulder, causing you to turn toward him. The smile he gave you was so sweet, you almost lost your appetite for anything else. âYou wanted fried dough, right? Iâll get you some,â
Growing a bit worried at your friends beginning to separate, you grabbed onto his sleeve. âYouâre all going?â
He shook his head and laughed, ruffling your hair. âWeâll be back in a few.â
Scrunching your nose up in annoyance, you began to flatten it back down. Kai lingered back as they went off, not wanting to leave you alone.
Grateful for this, you grabbed his hand and gave him a small smile. He gave yours a squeeze in return.
The two of you trailed after the others just a bit to meet in the middle, stopping at a new game booth curiously.

Soon, the others returned to see you and Kai standing side by side, armed with water guns and a shared determination. The look on the two of your faces was priceless as Beomgyu took multiple pictures with an itchy trigger finger.
The two of you were too locked in, bursting as many balloons as possible before the clock eventually ran out.
The colorful balloons bobbing and swaying on the rotating platform, you were determined to make yourself up to the Carnival Gods.
You and Kai raced against each other, trying to outshoot and outscore the other.
When the bell signaled the end of it and the final balloon burst you happily threw the gun back onto the counter and cheered. The memories of your shared fun were cherished long after the last balloon had burst.
âYeaaah, thatâs it Y/N!â You didnât have to turn to see it was Yeonjun who had always cheered for you. Suddenly you found yourself embarrassed by how freely you expressed your excitement.
Yeonjun stood munching on a churro with a panda plush in his hands that you assumed had been the reasoning for their prolonged return.
Soobin handed you the fried dough and you gave him a quick smile of appreciation before biting into it, the warmth elevating the taste in your mouth.
Turning back to the booth, the carny stood with an expectant look on her face and you felt your face heat up once again.
âOh! S-Sorry! Um.. prizes, right.â
Your eyes scanned them all, unfortunately not finding the particular animal you were looking for. âHmâŠâ
âMolang!â Kai called out, pointing to exactly that. A single Molang plush tied up by the wire in the upper corner of the booth. âTheyâre trappedâŠâ You said breathlessly before motioning towards it. âYeah! Molang!â
She laughed, pulling out a stepping stool to untie it for you and handed you the giant Molang which immediately found itsâ home in Kaiâs arms.
The night went along like this, fairly smooth without many slip ups. The occasional bickering between members occurred as usual but it was all in a playful manner. You found yourself feeling eternally grateful that you had come out for this night with them.
Everywhere you looked, there were games of skill and chance, beckoning with promises of prizes and fleeting glory.
In a place where thrill-seekers and romantics alike lost themselves in the magic of the moment, swept away on a whirlwind of adrenaline and wonder: all they could do was focus on you.
It wasnât as if the group didnât know of their shared feelings for you, in fact it had become a common topic of conversation in the hangouts they all had in Yeonjunâs room.
They all liked you: that was obvious to everyone but you.
What was even more obvious, though, was the fact that they couldnât all confess to you. That would be much too overwhelming and confusing so rather than doing that, they all agreed to stay friends with you until they got their own moment.
Even with their feelings for you, they refused to argue over you. Besides some small jealousies here and there, they still loved each other dearly and refused to let any feelings ruin their friendship with their brothers.
Finally, it was time for the rides.
Striding towards the towering roller coaster, a mix of excitement and nervous energy coursed through your veins.
Yeonjun must have noticed and he nudged you, âitâll be okay.â
You wanted to believe that but seeing how he himself had nervously gulped, you gave him a deadpanned expression and hoped that the ground would open up and swallow you whole.
The line snaked its way through a maze of metal rails, each twist and turn bringing you closer to the heart-pounding thrillâor rather, the fear awaiting at the ride's entrance. The distant screams of riders echo through the air, heightening the adrenaline.
Soobin seemed to pick up on Yeonjunâs inability to comfort you and made his way over from his place beside the line.
âI can sit with you if you want, Y/N. That way you can hold onto me if it gets too much.
The thought of clinging to him, as embarrassing as it was, did seem comforting.
As if clinging to him would somehow keep you grounded hundreds of feet above the ground.
Considering Soobin wasnât initially going to even get on the ride, you tilted your head slightly. âAre you sure?â He just nodded with that same smile. You found yourself admiring his teeth.
Eventually, it was your turn to climb aboard. Taking your seat in the streamlined car, you felt the unfamiliar click of the safety harness locking into place, securing the two of you for the adventure ahead.
âItâs really not all that scary,â it almost sounded like he was trying to convince himself now and you wanted to laugh.
âYouâre already high off the ground so obviously itâs not much for you.â
He raised an eyebrow at you, shooting you a judgmental look. âIâm not that tall.â
You rolled your eyes, âsure.â Beomgyu reached from the car behind you, grabbing onto your shoulders which caused you to jump as you turned back to him.
Half expecting him to make a joke about the situation, something about the railway coming undone or something. Instead he gave you a gentle smile, similar to the one he would give you at the end of a long day. One filled with comfort.
âYou got this.â And somehow, you believed him.
The attendants give a final thumbs-up, and with a jolt, the coaster lurched forward, leaving the platform behind. You instantly closed your eyes as you felt a rush of air hit your face and the butterflies overtook your stomach.
As the coaster began its ascent, the world fell away beneath you, the clatter of the tracks drowned out by the pounding of your heart.
âI cannot believe you guys got me on this damn thing.â Finally prying your eyes open, you turned to glare at Soobin finding him already shooting you that goofy smile with those irritatingly cute dimples.
âItâs not our fault youâd do anything for us!â He called out.
With each passing second, you climbed higher and higher, the anticipation building with every foot gained.
âPlus, who would want to miss this view?â
At the peak, you paused for a moment, suspended in mid-air, taking in the breathtaking view spread out before you.
And you wanted to argue back, tell him that you regretted getting on the ride and regretted coming altogether. But you couldnât because as you looked down at all the neon lights flashing in the darkness and how beautifully they blended together, you realized he was right.
The sight was beautiful, but it was even more beautiful because you were seeing it with them.
The wind rushed past, tugging at your hair and clothes, as you braced yourself for the exhilarating descent.
And then, with a sudden plunge, you were off, hurtling down the steep drop at breakneck speed. Your screams quickly turned into laughs that mixed with the others.
The world blurred around you as the coaster twisted and turned, banking sharply around curves and rocketing through loops.
Despite your fear being overtaken by joy, you still found yourself clinging to Soobinâs arm as you laughed. His face held a strange look of pride and admiration for youâ not that you had looked to notice.
The force of gravity had you both pinned you to your seats, adrenaline coursing through your veins as you surrendered yourself to the wild ride.
As the coaster finally screeched to a halt back at the station, you found yourself breathless and exhilarated, a wide grin plastered across your face.
The rush of adrenaline was still coursing through your veins as you and the others stepped off the ride, pumped up and ready to take on whatever thrills the carnival had to offer next.
Approaching the carousel, it greeted you all with the enchanting melody of its whimsical music. You found yourself drawn closer with each playful note.
It was certainly a step down from the roller coaster but you still insisted on going on it. They didnât bother to argue, just glad you were enjoying yourself.
âThis is like going on the zip line and then going straight to the teacups.â Beomgyu commented as you inspected the vibrant carousel horses, each one adorned with intricate details and bright colors.
âDonât be a hater. I just want to admire their âtimeless danceâ.â You said jokingly as you pointed to them simply moving up and down.
âWe can just make a âtimeless danceâ by ourselves,â he argued, grabbing your hand and you shook your head, pushing him back from you gently with a laugh.
As you all stepped onto the platform, the air was heavy with the scent of freshly painted wood. You chose a random white horse, running your hand along its smooth surface and felt the cool, polished wood beneath your fingertips.
In truth, you mostly wanted to ride the carousel to admire the art of it. Itâs true that you had a fear of these dramatic rides but this was the exception, it was something nice and sweet that reminded you of your childhood somehow. It felt nostalgic for all of you as you all climbed aboard.
With a graceful sweep of the floor as everyone lifted their feet to stabilize themselves, the carousel began to spin. The platform beneath your feet started to rotate, and you leaned your head on the pole you clung to, turning to Beomgyu.
âI think I might fall asleep on this thing.â He said.
âThanks for coming, anyways.â
He paused for a moment at the sincerity in your voice, looking you over as you blinked anticipating his response. âNah, no way I can sleep now.â He said simply.
âNot when you look at me like that.â
Pausing for a moment as his words hit you, you brushed it off with another laugh as you hid your face in your hands and turned forward to the others conversing as they rode.
Around and around you went, rising and falling in time with the music, the wind whipping past and you found yourself laughing.
The cheerful chime of the carousel's music box almost sounded like a symphony.
You caught glimpses of the carnival unfolding around you: children with sticky fingers were clutching oversized lollipops, couples stealing kisses beneath the twinkling lights, and families laughing and smiling as they shared the magic of the moment.
It made your heart swell as you came to realize exactly what you had been missing and how lucky you were to have friends to help you come out of your shell.
And then, all too soon, the carousel began to slow, bringing your ride to a gentle stop. Slightly disappointed, you furrowed your eyebrows together.
Beomgyu excitedly jumped down and held his hand up for you to grab as you climbed down.
In that moment, a sense of contentment washed over you, lingering like the fading strains of the carousel's music.
With a smile on your face and a skip in your step, you stepped back into the bustling carnival, carrying with you the memories of the ride.
You all stepped into the queue for the Ferris wheel, anticipation hanging thick in the air. The towering structure loomed above, spokes reaching for the sky, promising a bird's-eye view of all the chaos below.
Looking up, you found yourself growing as anxious as you were excited.
âHuhâŠ?â While staring, you realized that the ferris wheel had only seated two people, like the roller coaster.
Unlike the roller coaster though, the seats were separated with quite a distance between each other, meaning that you and whoever you sat with would be alone.
For some reason, your heart jumped at this. The idea of being alone with someone so close.
âThereâs only room for two people?â You asked, even though you knew the answer.
Taehyun laughed and nodded, âyou didnât know?â
Frowning, you shrugged. âI thought that maybe it would be one of those big ones that sat everyoneâŠâ
He shook his head, âsadly not.â
As you inch closer to the front of the line, the rhythmic clinking of the cars ascending and descending fills your ears.
Standing before the entrance, the worker looked at you expectantly before glancing at the boys behind you.
You turned to face them and they all gave you an encouraging smile, each one as sweet as the one before.
âSo, whoâs it gonna be?â

As you inch closer to the front of the line, the rhythmic clinking of the cars ascending and descending fills your ears.
Standing before the entrance, the worker looked at you expectantly before glancing at the boys behind you. You turned to face them and they all gave you an encouraging smile, each one as sweet as the one before.
âSo, whoâs it gonna be?â

Looking at each of them, it felt almost impossible to pick just one. The feeling that everyone was waiting on you made you even more anxious, the idea of annoying the people around you getting your nerves up even more.
âHey, Y/N itâs fine. Take your time.â Taehyun commented.
The small smile he gave you was enough to have you letting out a sigh of relief. âDo you want to come with me?â You asked, voice hopeful.
His eyes widened for a moment before nodding.
âMan⊠no fair.â Beomgyu whined.
âCan it, motor mouth. Youâd probably throw up your cotton candy on Y/N anyways.â Yeonjun said, motioning for the two of you to go ahead with a smile.
Taehyun steps next to you, stepping into the open-air gondola as the attendant began to secure the safety bar.
âAre you excited?â He asked.
âExcited? Yes! Nervous..? Also yes. Somehow? Yes.â
The attendant gave you a friendly nod and tight smile before stepping off.
With a lurch, the Ferris wheel began its slow ascent, the ground falling away beneath you as the world took on a new perspective.
Taehyun seemed so calm and collected, a stark contrast to your sudden jittery nerves.
It wasnât necessarily the fear of heights weighing on you now but the intense awkwardness of being so close, alone, with Taehyun.
A million thoughts of embarrassing yourself in front of him ran through your mind and none of them seemed appealing in the slightest.
You couldn't help but fidget with the hem of your shirt. Taehyun seemed to notice your continued unease and gently placed a hand on yours.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm right here with you," he said, his voice soft and soothing as always.
You felt a rush of warmth at his touch and his words, nerves beginning to subside again. Nodding, you gave him a grateful smile in return.
âIâm actually kind of surprised you picked me,â he started.
âIâm really glad, though.â
âYeah⊠I mean, Iâm glad too! I kind of realized we havenât been able to get a second alone, soâŠâ
âYou wanted a second alone with me?â His voice was playful as he gently nudged your shoulder and you puffed out your cheeks with a huff.
âYou know I hate when you guys tease me. Thatâs not what I meantâŠâ your voice trailed off though, unwilling to defend yourself.
Especially when you had wanted a moment alone with him.
As the ferris wheel continued to ascend, you couldn't help but steal glances at Taehyun, his profile illuminated by the twinkling lights below.
His eyes were widened the slightest bit, the lights of down below reflecting in them like stars. The smile on his face was wide, almost child-like but as always infectious.
He seemed so at ease, gaze fixed on the horizon as you rose higher and higher.
"You know," he said, breaking the comfortable silence between the two of you, "I used to be pretty bad with crowds too when I was younger. The smallest bit, so I wonât pretend to completely understand your anxieties but I can sympathize.â
You chuckled nervously, feeling suddenly embarrassed by your own fear. "I guess I have a lot to learn from you," you admitted.
He shook his head, turning toward you. âYouâre already fine. Truthfully, I was a bit worried but you did really well today. Iâd even say you had fun for once in your life.â
You scoffed in fake offense, âI have fun in my life.â
âIâm sure you and those headphones have lots of fun almost walking into ongoing traffic. What I meant was, Iâm glad we got to experience this with you.â
As the ferris wheel reached its peak, he turned to face you as much as he could, eyes sparkling with warmth.
âAnd thereâs something I've been wanting to tell you," he said steadily as if he could scare you away somehow. Suddenly his voice was tinged with emotion.
It almost felt like there was an anvil hanging over your head ready to drop at any moment.
As cartoonishly ridiculous as that comparison was, in the moment all you hoped for was that he would say what you had been thinking.
Heart skipping a beat, your stomach began to flutter as you cursed yourself for snacking earlier.
âYou can tell me anything, Taehyun.â The use of his name had him looking away, almost looking embarrassed for a moment.
He took a deep breath, returning his gaze to you. It was rare to ever see him nervous like this. "I really like you, Y/N. As more than just a friend. Well, more than like.â
All Taehyun could focus on was the feeling of your hand in his and how right it felt to him.
The weight that had finally been lifted off of his shoulders as he uttered the words, âI love you.â
And to him, it was true, every word. For Taehyun, loving you had come as natural as breathing.
Maybe you hadnât noticed it because of how overwhelming everything had been in the world around you, but he was always there watching out for you.
Because to love you was about multitudes, the exact thing that you despised. Even if you disliked it, everyone was drawn to you without you knowing.
A love that is inordinate.
"You do?" You asked, voice squeaking a bit at the end.
The nervous look on his face quickly washed away as he laughed at that reaction and you audibly groaned, swatting at him.
âDonât laugh! You canât just drop that on me up here!!â
âIs there a better place?â
âThen the top of a ferris wheel?! Uh, yeah! What if I likeâ jumped off?â
âSo youâd kill yourself to reject me? Thatâs a bit dramatic.â
âWhat?! Noâ! Iâm not rejecting youâ and Iâm not killing myself either. Or, I wouldnât. I am very happy with my life, actually!â
Taehyun nodded, that playful glint in his eyes.
âI believe it.â
âYouâre kind of a jerk for thisâŠâ
âYou invited me.â He shrugged.
âYouâve been plotting on my downfall this whole night, huh?â
"Yep. But I have to admit, seeing you so nervous up here is kind of adorable."
A wave of relief washed over you with the moment of silence, heart beating out of your chest.
ââŠYou love me.â You said to yourself, repeating it in your head almost like a mantra to convince yourself.
Taehyun laughed, âundoubtedly so.â
âHow much?â Your voice was hopeful, somehow finding it in yourself to squeeze his hand.
When the others had asked him, he couldn't find the words to answer back then.
But in front of your hopeful gaze, the words had finally found their way to him.
âIf you asked me to, I would drain all the seas around the world and count every grain of sand that clings to the ocean floor.â
âWow.â
The carnival below was a colorful tapestry, lights twinkling like stars against the night sky.
The sounds of laughter and music drift up to meet the two of you, mingling with the gentle creaking of the wheel as it turns.
âThatâs all youâve got?â
âShut up, Iâm overwhelmed! Thatâs like really romantic and this is way better than I ever dreamed of so Iâm just⊠speechless. But thank you.â
He hummed in response, âdonât thank me.â
Looking at him in awe at the sheer magnitude of his admission, you let out a sigh of contentment.
ââŠI love you too, Taehyun.â
As the ferris wheel began its descent, you leaned in closer to him, placing your head on his shoulder.
âSo you dreamed about me confessing to you?â he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
âPlease donât ruin my coming of age romance scene right now.â
Secretly you had hoped that the ride would never end and you could stay there, breathing him in as you watched the lights together.
âY/N?â
âYeah?â
âIâve counted every beat of my heart that has echoed since I met you.â

The small smile he gave you was enough to have you letting out a sigh of relief. âI thinkâŠâ
As they looked at you expectantly, you frowned. There was no way that you could choose just one of them without feeling bad for leaving the others out.
âI think⊠I-I donât think I want to go on it anymore.â
Turning to the attendant with an apologetic look, you gave a quick apology before walking away, ushering the boys out of the line.
âY/N? Are you okay?â Yeonjun asked, looking back with a concerned look toward you.
âIf youâre too overwhelmed we can head out,â Soobin started.
Shaking your head as the six of you find a place behind a nearby tent, you shook your head. âIâm fine! Iâm having fun!â
Kai tilted his head slightly at your tone. It was fairly obvious you had became overwhelmed, even if you refused to admit it.
Your heart was coming down from the anxiety of holding up the line as you looked back at the ride, seeing the couples and families climb aboard.
In truth, you didnât want to go on it that badly but the embarrassment from not being able to make such a seemingly simple choice had you flustered.
âWhy donât we get out of here anyways?â Taehyun offered.
You gave him a quizzical look, fiddling with the end of your shirt. âWhere would we even go?â
Beomgyu shrugged, âwhy donât we just go look at the stars?â
The suggestion was simple but it had caught your attention, looking up. All night the carnival seemed to distract from the natural beauty around you.
A part of you felt ashamed for not taking a moment to appreciate them.
Taehyun nodded. âSoobin still has some blankets in the truck, I think.â
âThat I do,â Soobin said with a huff. âMy poor napping blanket.â
âCome on, you big baby. Iâll wash it when we get home.â Yeonjun said, nudging the taller boy as he let out a huff.
You laughed, shooting him a grateful look. âThank you, Soobin.â
As your group of friends began to weave through the carnivals crowd for the final time, the chaos began to fade into the distance.
Taehyun and Kaiâs gentle hold on your hands had you sending them grateful looks.
Laughter and the faint echoes of carnival music lingered in the air as you all left behind the colorful lights and bustling rides.
Excitedly, Beomgyu walked backwards as he continued to ramble about a topic you couldnât follow at all.
Seemingly, him and Soobin were arguing over who was better at the game they both played.
âQuit fighting!â Yeonjun called after them.
Ahead, the wide field was bathed in the soft glow of moonlight.
Even with the music in the distance, it was peaceful. Tall grass swayed gently in the breeze.
There was a rhythmic whisper that accompanied all of your footsteps as you found an area to settle down at.
Yeonjun and Taehyun set out the blankets as you and Kai gently nudged each other, pointing out the stars you could already see much clearer.
Soobin and Beomgyu seemed to continue their previous antics as they stumbled around chasing each other.
The scent of earth and grass filled the air and you took a deep breath in, finally feeling your heart settle for the first time that night.
The faint aroma of the carnival treats were finally left behind and as you sat down, Beomgyu basically crashing down next to you, you laughed.
You had once heard a story once about lovers who kept finding each other, no matter how many times the world came between them.
Even when they were cursed for the rest of eternity, transformed into stardust and placed scattered far apart throughout the galaxy.
Parts of them still found each other in the vastness of space.
In this story, rather than previous lovers, you had seen your friends.
Your bodies were made of stardust, and you were hurtling through space and time, toward the most beautiful collision. Yet each and every time, no matter whatâ you would find each other.
The night sky stretched endlessly, a canvas adorned with countless stars. Tired conversations ensued until you were all lying down, laughter subsiding into a familiar and comfortable silence.
Nameless stars gracefully stretched across the heavens, a river of light that seemed to flow from one horizon to the other. Endless.
In this moment of awe and wonder, you found yourself hoping that this moment could be endless as well.
Each star seemed to twinkle with its own secret, beckoning you to explore the mysteries of the cosmos.
You, Soobin and Yeonjun began to make up names and stories for the stars as Taehyun stifled Kaiâs laughter in attempt to not wake a sleeping Beomgyu.
The air was crisp and clear, carrying with it a sense of tranquility that enveloped you all like a warm embrace.
In this moment, surrounded by the vast expanse of the night sky, you were reminded of the beauty of the universe.
No matter how overwhelming things had gotten, no matter how big and scary the world truly wasâ you would always find yourself back here in this familiar patch of grass with your friends.
With Soobinâs tired head on your shoulder and Beomgyu fast asleep on your thighs.
The gentle hum from Yeonjun and Taehyun accompanied by the squeeze Kai had given your hand.
The contented chatter of crickets and the slow, rhythmic song of cicadas.
If you could describe happiness, it would be that moment the universe had conjured up for you.
Served to you like some sort of cosmic apology for all that you have been through, and all that you had missed out on.
If you could take from all the possibilities, that moment would be the one you would always choose to bring into fruition.
And yet, you were well aware that the world spun too quickly and it turns too slowly as you waited and waited for the moment to transact into memory.
Eventually, the day would come when you could no longer tell the difference between this memory and a dream.
You found your own eyes growing heavy as your hand stilled in Beomgyuâs hair, coming up to your mouth to stifle a yawn.
Despite the acknowledgment that this, too, would end, you found the timeless connection of the stars omnipresent in your friendship.
As the stars watched over you all, unwillingly drifting to sleep together, a part of you confirmed what you had always known.
The six of you would always find each other, no matter if it was a dream or a memory.
There was nothing to grieve over in this moment. There was just love.

âDo you think there is the possibility of you and I?â The star asked.
âIn this lifetime, is that too much to hope for?â
âThere is something so delicate about time, so fragile.â The moon had started.
âIf nothing ever comes of us, at least I have known this feeling, this wonderful sense of optimism that you have gifted to me.â The sun chimed in.
âYou have given me something I can always keep close to meâto draw from in my darkest hour like a ray of unspent sunshine.â The moon commented.
âThe love we share, it will be carried on by us through generations. It will be passed on and felt, the pieces of each other that we have borrowed and spent will be remembered.â The sun had finished.
âNo matter what happens next, I will always be glad to know there is someone like you in the world.â The star said.
âThank you for loving me.â

PHONING... đ àŁȘË Break My Heart Again.

The only thing that could ruin your nights with Taehyun was the harsh reality that peeks in with the sun the morning after.

àȘââŽâĄ wc 2k ⧠angst

The morning sun gently filters through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room as you sit at the table across from him, sipping on a steaming cup of coffee. The air was filled with a sense of calm and tranquility, the lingering warmth of last night still palpable between you.
The crease by his eyes when he smiled at you before looking down toward his phone almost had your head spinning and if you werenât seated, you swore you could have fallen over.
There was a quietness to the moment, the only sound being the gentle hum of the coffee maker and the occasional clink of your ceramic mug against the tabletop.
The mug in front of him sat unmoved, half empty as remnants of spilt coffee dried on the rim with the time it remained untouched.

As you took another sip of your coffee, you stole a glance at Taehyun, the same small smile playing at the corners of your lips. Something in the way he leaned into the palm of his hand had you mesmerized. Your best friend, Taehyun, ever the beauty.
Maybe that was what it was that made you head over heels for him: that sense of familiarity in the way you looked at each other, a silent acknowledgment of the connection you shared.
One night, after all of the longing glances shared there had been a moment when the two of you crossed the line of friendship into something more. Not friends anymore but not quite lovers.
Nothing felt like yours anymore after that. Every little thing that defined you; the small sentimental trinkets he had gifted you from his travels, your car keys that had now become lonely with the departure of your apartment key. The pin codes and passwords you memorized like the back of your hand, always knowing he would be there to meet you on the other side.
They all felt like you, at one point in time. Your spare apartment key that had been thrown on his own keychain for when he would come over for sacred friend dates was now used only in the late night. Eventually, the pin codes you had memorized for him during the day faded from your mind as he made sure to meet you at the door, quickly punching it in himself to sneak you in late at night.
And more than anything else, your phone numberâ the one he boldly asked for that night you met, amidst a sea of your friends, under a sky of talking satellites and glowing stars. You hadnât missed the look of surprise on their faces, especially Beomgyuâs as his eyes peered up at you from behind his cup.
Across the table, Taehyun looked up from his phone incessantly again and returned your smile. There was a warmth in his gaze, a silent reassurance that despite the fleeting nature of your encounters, the moment was one you both savored. It was in his eyes that you had found that shred of hope you desperately clung to like a kitten stuck up a tree.
As you continued to drink your coffee, you found yourself lost in thought, reflecting on the events of the previous night. Despite the uncertainty of what the future may hold, there's a sense of contentment in knowing that for this brief moment in time, you were exactly where you were meant to be.
The sun casted long shadows across the room as you sat together, lost in your own thoughts.
Taehyun had always felt like home, maybe it was the years you had spent getting to know each other and memorizing his most unnoticeable habits but you could never imagine a day going by without thinking of him.
Though you always knew that was love, it began to feel like a curse.
The peace was broken by the scratch of his chair against the floor, excusing himself from the table as he wordlessly made his way to the sink. The sound of cold coffee being poured down the drain had you swallowing as you watched him place his cup in there.
The air of familiarity he carried with himself in your apartment began to make you feel sick. He was your best friend yet when he was here, this place was almost like his second home.
With a quick âsee you laterâ and a gentle kiss to your forehead, he was off and suddenly you had lost your appetite.
Something that should feel so sweet, saved for the person you wanted to cherish so carefully instead felt like a mark of shame.
You were sure that he pitied youâ that must have been it as any kind of affection outside of the bedroom began to feel like pity.
There were times where you had shared moments and everything felt right. Long before this arrangement began and you never spoke out loud of your admirations, his hands felt much more sure of their actions.
A part of you wanted to tell him not to bother coming back if he couldnât admit that there was somethingâ but that idea of giving up on him was somehow worse than pretending you were fine being just friends.
The first time you had broken up the arrangement, it proved difficult to remain friends. Knowing glances and brushing touches, it was hard to pretend he didnât know you more intimately than anyone ever had.
The worst thing yet, your number would always belong to him. Buried somewhere deep in his missed calls, collecting dust, you knew that it would always be there. You could never bear to get rid of him.
Even with the amount of rust accumulated between the lines of communication, the memory of all the words exchanged seemed to keep them from ever being completely severed.
Once you had told him to leave you alone completely. Despite knowing that was the last thing you wanted, he decided to respect your wishes with a gentle kiss to your wrist and no goodbye. The worst thing about Taehyun would always be how gentle he was, how he always knew the right thing to do to hurt you so deeply.
Hurting you was never what he wanted, even if you could never understand that. Maybe your mind would try and convince you that it was true but in the end, he would always be a mystery.
Unsurprisingly, it had been you who broke that promise you begged him to keep as you contacted him through one of your friends. It wasnât your proudest moment but with Kai being more than willing to help you rekindle your âfriendshipâ, you couldnât find it in yourself to refuse, even if it was selfish.
As happy as he was to hear from you, Taehyun felt much more concerned. These swings in your mood had become more and more frequent and he found himself a bit distressed. Despite the rational part of his brain wanting to pry and get you to admit the truth, he decided to let himself remain cautiously optomistic for the two of you.
You werenât ever aware of Taehyunâs feelings for you, selfishly you were too wrapped up in your own mind and anxieties to ever notice.
The first time you had gotten a glance of how he felt was the first night you had found yourself in his bed since the silence. Lying on your stomach with your feet in the air, your eyes were glued to the tv as his hand found itsâ way onto the back of your thigh, stilling your movements.
âYou know I would have answered you, right?â
The sincerity in his tone had you furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, a pit growing in your stomach at the idea of another argument. Even while knowing he would never argue with you on purpose, you were unfortunately growing increasingly aware of your own ability to cause arguments.
ââŠHuh?â Hesitantly you pushed yourself up, turning towards him on your knees. His hand fell to the bed as you looked down at it, still extended toward you despite your skins new absence.
âThose months we stopped talking. You called me.â
The pit in your stomach tightened for a moment as the embarrassment hit you, your face heating up.
âI thought you deleted my number?â You asked, nervously reaching out for his hand. His touch was enough to comfort you.
âNo matter how many times I erased you from my phone, Iâd still recognize your number.â
A wide smile made its way onto his face and he let out a small laugh, seemingly growing shy. The slight purr behind his laugh had you smiling yourself as you moved closer.
âYeah?â
âOf course, because itâs an extension of you.â
Even though there was nothing particularly romantic about that sentence, you found yourself unfortunately aware of just how in love with him you were and the growing possibility that maybe, he had felt something for you as well.
The series of twos and ones he grew to memorize like the dips of your waist and the curves of your hips, despite your mindsâ constant attempts to remind you there was no feelings behind that memory game he seemed to play, you found yourself clinging to the idea that there was.
To you, memorization was the purest form of love.
Taehyunâs hands pressed into the small of your back was now something you would remember forever, similarly to the scent of the room youâd first met when the world seemed to tilt on itsâ access.
Numbers that were reminiscent of two contented cats, curled together like a pair of speech marks.
It was that time of night where the city seemed to quiet down and all you heard were the chirping of bugs outside as you stared down at the table. A porcelain plate, itsâ intricate designs only disgraced with a cold slice of half-eaten pie.
Despite wanting to, you couldnât find it in yourself to eat the rest of it. All you could think about was how much better it had tasted when he was across from you.
The second time you had caught a glimpse of how he felt had also been the second time you had broken off the arrangement.
Your head fell into your hands with choked out sobs, a feeling a shame and disgust at the overwhelming feeling of love. Surely, that was the worst feeling among all.
The guilt was not even close to being able to combat the love you had for him.
Even with the pathetic show of distress you found yourself in, his hands broke you down as he pulled you into him gently.
âIf I can never hold you or kiss you again, I can live with that.â He said.
The sentence alone broke your heart but even still, your grip on his shirt tightened as you buried your face into him deeper.
Too caught up in your sobs, you didnât notice the shaky breath he let out before continuing, âbut I canât stand the idea of us not speaking againâŠâ
You tried your best to calm your breathing, wishing that he would just say what you wanted to hear. After all of this time and distress, if he could just finally say it: everything would be okay.
That was what you convinced yourself, at leastâ blaming him was better than acknowledging the truth. It was both of your faults: you were both just too afraid.
âCan you at the very least, allow me that one thing? I never want to go back to the time before I met you.â
With that, his hands that seemed to break you down held you like water in his hands. The words felt healing, even knowing that you were slipping through the cracks.
Yet even with how painful you knew it would beâ knowing youâll never truly get over him, when you looked up to see the sadness for the first time in his own eyes, you agreed.
It wasnât his fault, it could never be his fault because no matter how many times you said the arrangement wasnât working: you were always the one who ran back to him.
After that night, it wasnât long before you were calling him with mascara running down your face after crying over how you miss him or showing up outside his dorm with lipstick smudged from some drunk douchebag you couldnât bother to remember the name of.
And with the hurt and concern in his eyes making you shiver under his gaze, youâd pull him in and his own heart would stop as the realization would hit him all over again of what he had started back then never truly stopped.
You wondered what would go through his mind if one day he had dialed your number to find it had been disconnected.
There were one too many times youâd considered the act, running away to some other city where you couldnât run back to his arms. That self-destructive dance the two of you seemed to find yourself trapped in because being something was better than nothing.
You wondered if his imagination would race with thoughts of what new city you had run to and who was sharing your bed if not him.
Something that could be fixed with three words seemed so unsolvable to the two of you like a rubiks, refusing to make the next move due to fear of complicating it more.
Taehyun wasnât one to make reckless decisions but when it came to you, he found himself regretting being too prideful to admit how he felt in the beginning.
When you agreed to be friends with benefits, he silently found himself clinging to the hope that you liked him as much as he had liked you, because regardless of what he had said: all he wanted was you.
Maybe if he had been honest about the relationship he wanted back then rather than trying to find some middle ground, you wouldnât have grown to feel he was disingenuous.
Similarly to how Taehyun changed what was yours, you had taught him how much of your lives were interchangeable, how little was truly his as well.
Not only someone elseâsâ your ring tone, his songs, your words, his proposition and your broken heart. Those were the things you inherited by choice or by chance.
And it was never your choice to love the other.
So until one of you gains the courage to break the cycle of yearning in silence or impossibly falls out of love between the sheets, youâve agreed to drink your coffee in the mornings and allow the other to break your heart once more.

Somehow, it felt exposing when the curtains were drawn. Ruthlessly tossed to the side and the sunlight began to burn you through the glass pane.
All you had wanted to do was stay within your four walls, wrapped up in the blanket that fit around you so perfectly.
Watching videos on your phone with no energy to get out of bed and actually do something.
Worrying about work soon or upcoming plans you suddenly wanted to skip out on. Something youâd been excited about for months now felt daunting.
Acknowledging that youâre simply too much for other people, you busy yourself with controlling what you can and taking up less space.

They probably didnât even want you there, anyways.
The simple routine of thinking until you got just sadâ an infectious mold that, with time, spread to your heart, constricting it to numbness.
You seemed to lose track of the days when this happened.
âItâs time to live.â
It was Yeonjun.
âArenât I already?â Groaning, you pulled a pillow over your face with an aggravated sigh.
âNope! Youâre just alive.â You shrugged.
He couldnât see.
With a familiar hand pulling you out of bed, the cold feeling of the hardwood floors almost instantly making you want to retreat.
Despite this, you allowed the hand to drag you out into the world and out of the comfort of your bed.
The feeling of the cold floorboards matched the feeling of the cold water he splashed you with, a teasing smile on his face.
There wasnât much joy in it for you, rubbing the facial care products into your face haphazardly.
Yesterdayâs energy was long gone.
Once dry, he made sure to help you with the sweetest step of your skincare routine.
Small kisses littered across your face, a hand squeezing yours tightly.
A small feeling of warmth seemed to chip away at the mold on your heart, almost as if it was being gently cleaned with his own hands.
âYou have a pimple.â
âThanks for pointing it out. Itâs my third eye.â You sounded unamused and he smirked, poking at your cheek careful to not touch it.
âI wish I had a third eye.â
You didnât reply to him, focusing back to the cool mint on your tongue.
Pouting, it was him who continued. âSo then I can look at you three times as much.â
The toothbrush in your mouth helped hide the small smile you were fighting, a childish feeling of giddiness.
ââŠThat was really lame.â
The running water washed away any excess product. Wiping his mouth with a grin, he placed a final kiss on your cheek.
He knew that words wouldnât make everything better, they wouldnât be able to show you yourself through his eyes.
At the very least, heâd do his best to provide you with small doses of his admiration.
There were moments like these where you seemed to be swept out of the daze, almost like you were being shocked back into commission.
Who knew that something so sweet could be hiding in something so painfully mundane?
Moments when your head in the clouds crashes down to reality with a rude and sudden drag.
Those moments werenât always bad, though. At least they gave you something to lose.

The sound of the ocean as you closed your eyes, skin warm from the rays that you didnât bother to hide from.
All of the suffocating thoughts made you much more preoccupied with hiding from other people.
You wondered if youâd look better if you looked how you did when you were younger. Even then, you didnât do much.
If youâd worked harder, maybe you wouldnât be so hyper focused on yourself. Maybe youâd be more fun for others to be around.
It was easy to find reasons to belittle yourself.
A can of something hissing next to you brought your attention away momentarily, eyes fluttering open at the sudden coldness.
Standing above you, endearingly as persistent as always.
Soobin didn't seem to care that his frame was blocking your only source of light.
âI donât see the sun that often.â You complained.
âI donât see you that often.â He countered.
Guilty, you didnât answer.
It was your idea to go to the beach yet you were shying away from really doing anything, conscious of everything around you.
The both of you paused in the silence.
Some of the excess water seemed to shake onto you as he dropped down on the towel next to you carelessly.
He sipped his drink quite obnoxiously.
Closing your eyes again, all you could focus on was the feeling of him nearby.
Nothing else was better at keeping the thoughts away.
Wet hands wrapped around your waist, almost smothering you so suddenly.
You wanted to complain about the feeling of him practically sticking to you in the hot weather but you didnât bother.
You knew he needed it.
As he gently rested his head on your collarbone, your breath caught for a moment.
Maybe you both needed it.
Insecurities wandered back into your moment for just a moment. Monotonous repetition of how you must have looked and how you must have felt.
Listening to your heart, Soobin memorized each beat as if he would suddenly become fluent in itsâ language.
Suddenly, he spoke.
âLetâs go find jellyfish to give back to the sea.â
The logical part of you didnât see any point to sending back what was already doomed.
Regardless, you didnât have it in you to challenge his optimism.

Biting into the strawberry, the flavor seemed much more pronounced than it had ever before. Maybe it was because Beomgyu picked it specifically for you.
You couldnât tell.
The juice trickled down your chin. The sickly messy feeling made you grimace.
As you reached up to wipe it, he already beat you with his sleeve. Impulsively, you knew since it was his favorite hoodie.
He didnât seem to care about ruining something so precious for you.
Seeing your reaction, he laughed.
âYouâre cute when you make that face.â
Frowning, you replied. âI feel sticky.â
âWe should do this again.â His voice was hopeful and he ended it with a small laugh, holding out the basket to hand to you.
Looking down at the strawberries in the basket, you only hummed in response.
Even if you wanted to, you couldnât find it in you to reply.
Uncertainty lingering in your mind. Something you wanted just in front of you, even if you didnât feel like you deserved it.
You wanted to respond, really.
But he didnât need you to, he already knew that it wouldnât happen again.
The warm glow he shared with you alongside half of his heart only seemed to gleam brighter.
The shameful feeling of hiding away from the world melted away when his hand brushed against yours.
âMaybe we can grow our own.â
Knowing how the two of you lived, he knew that it wouldnât be possible for anything to grow.
He didnât have the heart to tell you that but a part of him still wanted to try.
âWe can.â
The sound of sticks and dirt crunching beneath you caused you to furrow your eyebrows, eyes focused on the amount of filth collected on your shoes.
Silence with Beomgyu, like your other friends, was usually comforting. He didnât try to pry into you or tell you how to cope.
Instead he decided to stall for more time with you.
âLetâs go get some real food, yeah?â

âWhen are you going to start being honest about how youâre doing?â
It was such an easy question but you couldnât seem to answer it.
Couldnât look up to face him, the frustration in his voice already tugging at whatever strings were attached to your tear ducts.
Taehyun wasnât mad. Even with reminding yourself of that, you felt angry at yourself.
Guilty, how terrible of a person were you to make someone like him worry?
Gritting teeth, your face remained stone cold. Eyes fixated on the table in front of you with your fists balled underneath.
Breathe. Itâs not the end of the world.
There was a million things that you could say but nothing would ever perfectly describe how you were feeling.
Shame, embarrassment, the desperate yearning for more but the desire to run and hide at the same time.
How do you explain how miserable you are, even when you have everything youâd ever need?
Things werenât horrible, they could be better but isnât that the same for everyone?
Maybe it was the missed connections.
The urge to call someone who was no longer in your life or the desire to become a better version of yourself.
The sudden realization of the little girl that resided in your mother and the burned bridges that she left behind for you.
Maybe it was coming to the understanding that you are the spitting image of your father and all of his worst fears.
If you were better, could you be happy then?
Desperately wanting something that you know youâll never have, forgetting to appreciate what you do have.
You were just sadâ and you couldnât understand why.
There was a crack in the china somewhere that couldnât be found. Couldnât be fixed.
It felt embarrassing to have a crack in you so obvious.
Taehyun often tried to remind you that damage is a show of what youâve been through, the love and the hurt.
Everything youâd carried with you became a collage of every person and thing that you had ever loved.
You didnât like wearing it on your sleeve.
âOne day, maybe.â Although it came out jokingly, all you were met with was a sigh.
The air wouldnât stay tense for long, though. Heâd never allow that.
It was a sunny day, the outside feeling peculiar after an afternoon sunshower.
A hand clasped your shoulder and shook you gently.
It almost felt like you were shook back into reality, suddenly much more aware of your body in the present moment.
Your mind wandered back to a meaningless quote youâd found floating around some corner of the internet.
âThere is no connection without an open heart.â
That couldnât always be true, you figured.
Without realizing, youâre pulled to your feet as he hums along to the theme song playing faintly from the television in the other room.
The sound of keys jingling brings you back to reality once more.
âLetâs go for a walk.â
His attempt to get you from the house and out for fresh air was less than subtle but you followed, sliding your shoes on.
Being active this way was something that he loved, you figured if he loved it so much it must be worth something.
Anything he loved was worth something, of course.
Maybe you believing in that so strongly was what made it difficult to believe him when he said that he loved you.
Already seeing the look of dread on your tired face, he laughed.
âIf you get too tired, Iâll carry you back home.â

âWe canât be together every second of everyday.â
The tone of Kaiâs voice was understanding, hand brushing some stray eyelash off of your cheek.
Suddenly feeling shy in his touch, you pull away.
âI just donât want you to forget me, thatâs all.â
To say something so stupid in such a vulnerable state, you found yourself wondering how you even got here in the first place.
The smile that he flashed almost seemed nauseating.
The kind that would normally have someoneâs head-spinning yet he gave it to someone like you so naturally, like second nature.
It didnât feel like you deserved it, but it was still yours.
âWho could ever forget you?â
Noses rubbing together felt embarrassingly innocent before he chased after you to place a kiss to your lips.
For a fleeting moment you wondered if you really had impacted his life. If maybe youâd been the reason for his restless nights or anxious mornings as he had been for you.
Your mind shut down that hope fairly quickly.
Rolling your eyes, you pulled away and directed your attention back to the orange in your hands as your nails desperately clawed at it.
Marked up and bruised, you couldnât seem to get it open. The light, empty feeling of your stomach growling had you feeling uneasy. Dizzy.
Just as you were about to give up out of frustration, a hand gently pulls it from your grasp.
Looking up at him, his eyes stare carelessly out of the window.
When itâs handed back to you, a single slice is missing.
He gives you a small smile once again, taking a bite of the orange slice instinctively, teetering it between his lips.
âWanna come with me today to do some chores?â

One day, you meet someone. And right off the bat this person may feel like home or that strange sense of security youâd been longing for. If you're lucky, you get to experience it a few times over.
And it is terrifying to feel it so wholeheartedly without knowing it. Unfamiliarity is maybe the scariest thing.
Youâre going to want to run away, hide away back under the covers. Yet they wonât let you.
They will drag you out, kicking and screaming as they force their way into your heart and plant a seed. So carefully instilled inside you that you wonât even notice itsâ presence until itâs in full bloom.
The light youâd been searching for in them will be reflected inside of you, spare parts gifted to you as a thank you for existing in their lives fusing together to create the fragile machine that you are.
This light will find you no matter where, washing away the fear and anger of the past as you learn to brush yourself off, to try again.
There will be days that make you want to go back to the comfort of your room where youâre still the same kid that you were before everything spiraled.
Itâs this room that theyâll pull open the curtains and drag you out of bed, over and over.
Something youâve waited for.
The things you believed as a kid that seemed so stupid suddenly seem to make a comeback. A hint of truth in everything.
Maybe you couldnât hear the ocean in a sea shell but you could certainly memorize the faces of the constellations.
The crack in everything was simply to allow the light to pour in.
And with the shower of light, better days will follow.
Something to fight for.
The air against your skin feels frigid to the touch and your eyes are focused on the trees flashing by in quick succession.
The radios loud, almost ringing your ears as it reverberates with the mixed chatter and laughter.
Feeling an arm nudge you, your head lulls over to the side and you catch a glimpse of them waiting for your input with carefree smiles. Suddenly in that moment, you understand.
Wanting to preserve the moment for however long you could, it was a moment worth remembering.
It was hard to get to this point and youâre sure that youâll want to give up again, but you wonât.
No matter how much youâd change through the years, at that moment in time, you were in a car with people who loved you.
And you loved them.
To have something to lose is the greatest and scariest privilege but you will hold that broken bird in your hands and do your best to be as fragile as possible with it.
For the broken birds, it gets better. Maybe for a day, maybe only for a moment.
Maybe for you, it gets better as well. Maybe just for a song or a meal shared.
The time will pass and it will get better.
That feeling you were always chasing since you were youngâ as long as you hope for that, thereâs always something to hang onto.
The love that you want exists because you exist, you simply have to let yourself find it.
