I’m pretty sure fandom art get the most interaction because of the tags and popularity. Correct me if I am wrong?

Yes it does! And I understand that, for sure, but the few times I’d post nothing but my original art I’d get no interaction (like zero lol) and even saw that I lost some followers. As soon as I start drawing more fandom related things I see more interaction and gain followers.

I don’t draw fandom art just to get followers. Everything I draw, I want to draw. But it is disheartening when I draw my original stuff and start loosing the followers I’d gained.

That’s not to say people have never interacted with my OC art. I even get quite a few OC related asks! It just doesn’t happen very often, and if I post my OC stuff for “too long” people start to leave my blog.
