Four Seasons p. 64

We have Sesshoumaru in two different poses alternating to images of butterflies.
To himself: Autumn has come. And soon it will be gone. "Never had anything to keep" you said. The butterfly dies in autumn, disappearing as if never existed.

Passage from sessrin fanfic "Within the Numbered Days", chapter 6.

Sesshoumaru could no longer recognize the person he was before he met Rin. He could not sympathize with a version of himself who would not listen intently to the musings of this woman or allow her to curl up in his pelt. He had only a brief acquaintance with grief. For him, the pain and fear that accompanied the loss of a loved one had been a test to overcome. Rin carried the loss of her friend, and her family before that, permanently. Over the course of her life, still more people she cared for would die. Finally, she, too, would pass.

How long would the memory of Rin sustain him? Was it inevitable that with enough pain and anger he would revert to the worst version of himself?
