Reasons Frank Should Be Invited To The Firefam Barbecues:
Reasons Frank should be invited to the Firefam barbecues:
1. He’s basically an honorary member of the 118 extended family at this point
2. He can get the tea straight from the source
3. He’d probably solve impending problems before anyone realises there were problems to be had
4. He still hasn’t met Chim or Buck and heard about their collective mountain range of trauma
5. He’s always so serious, he should be allowed to let loose a little
6. I reckon he’d just love to study them all in a group setting

Bobby, I know that there’s not a locked room anywhere that with the right tools and enough time you can’t get into, but WHY would you not hold open a door you just established was very heavy and hard to open because of gravity?!
Ok, but why did Eddie look like he was about to burst out into song when he was listening in on Buck and Christopher's conversation?! Those facial expressions belong in a movie musical I swear.
I really enjoyed the scene where Eddie recruits Buck to talk to Christopher and not just for the obvious reasons ("he didn't get it from me" "you didn't turn out like you").
The fact that they're having this conversation while checking for any last bits of fire on this car so methodically- like, when was the last time we saw the END of a call? We always see the beginning and the middle but never the boring end bit where they have to check that yes, the fire is out, we can leave knowing that nothing else is going to go wrong.
I know we've seen them walking to the truck and putting things away before, but the menial double checking? That's new, or at least as far as I can remember, and I'm absolutely living for it.
I've always enjoyed the personal convos that happen during low stakes calls, like in 2x08(?) where they're saving the guy from the ATM, but even those were kinda fast-paced what with the cutting back and forth between two different convos.
The fact that Buck and Eddie are talking about how to deal with their kid's problem while checking the bonnet and the boot and the footwell just drove home how firefighting isn't all blazes and people choking or what have you. There's a procedure to follow and yeah, it's gonna be boring but that's how you keep people safe. And I think its really important to show that in a show where people defy death once every 5-10 eps. Not every call needs explosions or gallons of blood or some ridiculous nonsensical Thing happening.
The combination of all that and the tracking camera following them around all shaky-like just really helped ground the scene.
But yeah, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season if its anything like 7x01, because they really came out of the gates RUNNING, and if there are anymore of these grounded, menial moments I will be very happy.
Big question is: did Buck have a couch in That Scene???
Tommy Kinard is an absolute icon. Using the age-old fake radio interference on the Chief of the LAFD?! No one else could. I need more.
