oh yeah, slightly old-ish art but this was a massive render I did of the 2023 barbie movie's ken which I really figured I'd post because this thing flopped hard when I posted it previously so holding it up again

I feel like people go to me being like " carmy why do you like otto so much " and on god, I could list several reasons that don't just pertain to my hcs on him that made me get attached, I have a whole field day and literal lore scape dedicated to this man and if bandai namco isn't going to fill in the gaps for us then I WILL !! I'LL DO IT !!!!

rotting on otto and thinking about paired with him having to lose cici and the idea that he was alone really puts things in perspective, again, because I brought this up to someone and thinking abt it more, otto pointed out when he was talking with cici in earlier episodes about he was bullied or in his words " had tormentors " when he was young. so it's like. this man definitely has so much self esteem issues and was really, really alone all the way up to adulthood and while he did have colleagues, he didn't have friends I think

yeah, I just honestly find it all so interesting their dynamic because it's really a circumstance with both individuals really seemed eager to try and work through their issues but on otto's end all his care went into misguided actions of general manipulation and being pushy to know about the candleman, the dreams, and neglecting her health the more he went on a downward spiral and I really like looking at both aspects of him and noone I do hope you or anyone else doesn't take this as me generally going ' oh he's such a good person ' because to me he's more of a person who tries to do good but is really failing to do so because he's too caught up in the past to look at what harm he's inflicted on the present, he's got a lot of layers to me and I find them all interesting and more or less consider him really sad more than anything /gen my document put it best, if you want to give it a read because I wrote something down after someone asked about my opinions on him. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M41vWw3GWgsVhK2PEMDSrZss9rjhieDjEbHozyhhYgM/edit?usp=sharing also gonna edit this rq and say I really don't mind and even get why so many people really do hate this man bc for what its all worth, he is an absolute piece of shit, I just have a lot of brainrot on him and he's a hyperfixation and I see him in a much diff lense than other people /gen

I think ch3 also triggered some of Otto's trauma or smth....? I mean, look how he reacted right after listening Noone's story. You know at the end of her dream The PA screamed scarily “Everyone needs someone. Don't leave me alone!” and sobbed when the Candleman took her, “Don't take her. Not this one too.”

A few seconds of silence and you can actually listen how unsettled he is for a moment. How his breathing slightly shuddered.

No wonder why he hugged her so tightly after that.

But then the mirror fell off and was broken bcs he held her too tight. I love how they put this kinda subtext in the podcast. The uneasiness of it. The writings on the wall... He also smacked a moth flying around the light, the little creature that fascinates Noone.

Oops I just kinda rambled in the first one I hope you don’t mind two what was your favorite monster and kid ? and do you have a backstory for them. Or what was you favorite chapter if not? jester and the sewer man are mine. Jester was a Boy Scout of sorts and he loved exploring his dads jokes and helping people. to bad all those things were twisted in the Nowhere

nah ofc I don't mind !! as for my favorite monster and kid, I feel like my two faves are definitely rusty from the two of a kind and maybe the entirety of what happened in the theater of the mind because that episode really made me think of otto in a soft way ! also southern voices. for me with rusty though, it's more on the level of the circus and clown aesthetic that I am just a sucker for, I have SO many circus / clown characters in my back pocket, but more importantly the idea of teenagers within the nowhere is just interesting to me because it begs the question how old do you have to be in order to not be allowed within the nowhere given the ferryman / candleman refused otto but said there would be a quarter involved where a high toll would be given on the idea of otto becoming a manifestation / monster in that realm or continue bringing children to the ferryman / candleman as a means of trying to get glimpses into a world he cannot be apart of. rusty is a pure example that there could just be some sort of age limit in regards to that, beyond my other speculations. also, also, it is so sad to think on the fact that story was never finished, and the high implication at that point that every child or person noone has encountered within the nowhere has DIED.

so it is asking us, did rusty die or not. and more than that, it wasn't an unintended death because each person who has fell victim to a horrible fate in some means always got captured by a monster, etc. but for rusty, whatever he was planning was intended so it's like. for some people, they can thrive in the nowhere, but for some other individuals, they want to leave so badly that they will do anything, literally anything, to get away from it.

Ok ok that episode was so good!! And the tragedy of it all is so well done these two characters making each other insane is aghhhh !! Also the perfect lady mannequin making clothes for the kids and adults that will join the nowhere is so creepy the candleman choosing victims and then she plays dress up ! A power couple but they are here for your soul. I also had a thought about the sewer man and how he’s afraid of the wall of water he was probably a kid who got locked in there, how the water hit, him screaming but more water drowning him and aghhhh I’m rambling but this series ahas made me so sympathetic to the monsters the kids and the adults

HONESLT IT REALLY IS SUCH A GOOD ENDING BUT MAKES ME SO SAD FOR OTTO AND NOONE IN A MILD WAY .. because while noone ( ruth ) is finally able to not have pain in her bodily system, the nowhere from the fact it very much is just the setting for little nightmares is as comforting as it is horrifying because it isn't just the adult-like characters who've been cruel but the other children too and from what noone has seen so much bad has happened to those who have lasted within the nowhere, honestly I would really like to draw the perfect lady mannequin one of these days because that seems really fun for me and thinking about it now, she and ferryman / candleman got a big ass connection in my eyes, like they're working together, that or I can see her kind of being correlative to very little nightmares because it makes me think of that too. AND MAN YEAH .. in general, there is so much you can gage from the sounds of nightmares that I would HONESTLY love for them to do more, that was so good but really I'm just looking forward to the new game especially since there is a demo somewhere of it and everything !!
