Working as an intern for your boyfriend made your job a lot easier considering how laid back he was. The mayor himself was hardworking, always lending a hand to anyone who needed it at a moment’s notice. He just also happened to be smart enough that no one went without a break or a paid vacation for too long. Lately, you’d been biting off more than you could chew, which wasn’t bad in theory, but it was when the stress was starting to pile up.

You were halfway through a new pile of paperwork in your own office when he called you to get you to come over to his. You worried that the reports you submitted the night prior were, in fact, backwards like you thought. But when you entered the room, his expression was one of concern.

“What’s up? I’m not in trouble, am I?” You joked, hoping that he wasn’t just hiding his anger behind that unwavering smile of his.

“No, no. Not in the slightest. I just wanted to check up on you and give you a break from your workload,” he gestured to the chair across from his desk, and you accepted the offer and took a seat. “Dear y/n, you’ve been really pushing yourself lately.”

“I mean, I guess. But I’m fine, it’s nothing to worry about!” You waved your hands in an attempt to come off as carefree. However you could tell by the way his eyebrows furrowed that he didn’t really believe you.

“I hope you realize that you fell asleep at your desk last night and I was the one who carried you back home?”

So that’s how you wound up in your shared bed. You had no memory of actually walking to it, but now it made sense.

“That was one time.” You protested.

Your lover sighed and shook his head, getting up from his desk and walking around to stand across from you. He folded his arms and leaned against it.

“You know how much I care about you and your well-being. Which is why I’ve prepared a solution for you.”

“Huh?”

“You and I are taking the weekend off and resting at home. No buts,” he held up his hand as you opened your mouth to speak. “You’re practically dead on your feet. I demand that you accept this offer.”

“Aren’t you technically dead on your feet too?”

He laughed at this, walking behind the chair you were sitting in and placing his hands on your shoulders. He gave them a comforting squeeze.

“Only on the inside, dearest. Now, what do you say?”

“I guess taking a bit of rest wouldn’t be so terrible…” you hummed as he found a knot below your neck and gently worked it out. His hands were nice and cold. You could get used to this.

“Exactly. Now, go take your lunch break, get done what you can, and then when we get home tonight we can just enjoy the weekend. Alright?”

You nodded and stood up. Before you left, he gave you a quick hug. He smelled like coffee. You didn’t realize how much you actually missed spending time with him outside of work. Maybe you two could go see a movie, or visit a nice restaurant.

“Are you alright?” He asked when you didn’t pull away from him.

“Yeah, just thinking.” Your voice was muffled by his chest, but he still understood. He ran a hand through your hair and pressed a kiss to the top of your head.

“Okay, now seriously, go take a break.” He chuckled. You didn’t let go of his waist.

“Nope, you’re trapped here.”

“My greatest weakness!”

You both laughed as you detached yourself from him, making your way back to your office to grab your lunch.

At the end of the day, the Mayor came into your office, jingling his keys in one hand and holding his coat on his shoulder with the other. He leaned on the doorframe as you saved your work on the computer.

“All good?” He asked. You nodded and got up, taking one of his hands as you two walked to his car. You had your own vehicle, of course, however when you two were on the same schedule you tended to just travel together. Since it was pleasantly warm outside, he rolled down the windows to allow for some fresh air. You closed your eyes and relaxed as you two went home.

“What would you like to do for dinner?” He said as he pulled into the driveway.

“Is takeout okay?”

“Anything you’d like.”

You two could go have fun this weekend tomorrow. For tonight, it was much nicer to just get into comfortable pajamas, turn on some cheesy movie, and enjoy the takeout that you two had delivered to the house.

On the couch, he had finished his food, and was clearing away his trash. When he sat back down, you got close to him, laying your legs across his lap and balancing the food you were finishing on your thighs. He had one of his arms around your back to support you and was lightly tracing circles with his fingers.

“It does feel nice to not have to worry about anything.” You yawned as you put your box on the table and leaned your head on his shoulder. His chuckle reverberated through his chest as he held you closer.

“It does, doesn’t it?” Mayor smiled, but not in the over exaggerated way he usually did, in a soft way. “Get some rest, darling. You deserve it.”

MK, Redson, Macaque, and SWK x Bronze Demon!GN!Reader Headcanons!

MK - ooo ok so I think maybe upon meeting you he’d be worried he’d get sucked into the Calabash again, but when you reassure him those were just your brothers and you’re not here to bug him, then he’s chill. The thing is you’re still gonna prank him, because you can and it’s funny, but the only difference is that you refuse to let your brothers mess this up for you…okay fine they can help you prank MK once in a while. But as your friendship develops with him they back off to let you have your fun. You keep MK on his toes, and honestly, it’s really fun to him!

Redson - at first they’re like “oh ok a new demon friend?” And then you have to warn them like “yeah we’re a package deal…Don’t worry though they have those leash backpacks” and there are Yin and Jin. Leash kids. Anyways, Red would probably want you to join them in causing some chaos for MK and Co.. Likes your energy, and how clever you can be. But when it’s boiled down, Redson is the voice of reason out of you two. Yin and Jin are just happy to meet another cool demon!

SWK - Ah shoot. Here he goes again. Not gonna lie you two would probably meet because Yin and Jin did something to mess with MK and then Wukong showed up too to beat them up. You’d step in and be like “oh gosh, sorry for them, they’re idiots, I’ll deal with them” and from there Wukong is like “nah don’t worry I got a problem child too” and gestures(caringly) to MK. He hangs out with you from time to time specifically to see what kind of trouble you two can get into. Other than that he just likes your vibes :)

Macaque - you two probably met when he’s lurking around the shadows and you’re also lurking around but just so you can find your brothers. You two chat, and then go on your way. Later on he shows up again and you two just kinda bond from there! He tells you stories, shows you the artifacts he’s gotten, and you make him laugh and have witty remarks that keep him going. Finding someone clever and demonic like him is ideal!

The sky is dancing for us

Macaque groaned in his sleep, his body kept turning over and over as his hand lazily patted on the bed in search of his lover’s body. Despite his drowsy state, Macaque couldn’t stop himself from shivering against the winter cold, the fireplace probably went out during their sleep. The touch of the winter’s cold was slightly tickling his body, he wanted to at least get some heat in the cabin..but fatigue was king of his mind for the night, ordering him to stay in bed and do nothing. Even invoking a shadow clone was not an idea he liked currently.

Finally, after a few attempts, his hand managed to touch part of his lover’s arm and a relieved sigh escaped him. With a slow movement, his hand slided around the waist of his lover, bringing them closer to his body. The body heat of his partner against his was comforting, and above all very safe. His tail intertwined against theirs, holding it tightly just to be sure they won’t move away in their sleep. There, it was so much better.

The six eared simian let out a content sigh, he finally relaxed against the body of his lover. He was in a good position, with a good mindset to finally sleep, the snowflakes slowly fell down on the roof, alongside with small crackling and light hissing noises all around them…

Wait.

What ?

The shadow demon opened his eyes once again and sat up in one motion, completely still. He even managed to slow down the beat of his heart with controlled breaths. His six ears flickered all around in search of a certain threat that could be around the cabin. Nothing. There were no other heartbeats other than his and his partner, everything was calm.

But to reassure himself, the six-eared Macaque stood up, putting on his thick coat and boots that were suitable for the mid-winter cold. Maybe he will have to boil some water for the tea after the inspection..the morning will be rough after all. He opened the door and took a few steps on the balcony, the snow was illuminated by a greenish color..how?

With a frown, he raised his gaze, and Macaque fell under the spell. His mouth was hanging open while his eyes became round like rice bowls. The sky was devoid of clouds, the stars were even brighter than usual, if he could discern a planet perfectly, it was Venus. But what froze him was those dancing green and pink lights, or maybe purple, they were moving in any way but with precise movements. He was in a trance, their songs of cracking and hissing were even louder, and he could discern a certain sound...as if crystals were clashing with each other, in such a soft and gentle way, and they never fell to the ground. It was a wonderful sound in his ears. They were northern lights.

A blink of his unique eye, and excitement gripped him by the shoulder. He turned back to the entrance of the cabin, not forgetting to close the door, Macaque did not hesitate to rush to the fireplace, he took a piece of wood and a lighter, lighting it as quickly as possible. He left some cussing words from his mouth, shit that stupid fireplace was so stubborn! Many attempts taken, and the damn fireplace finally lit up. In one movement, he moved towards the bed and saw his partner sleeping deeply.

His smile softened as he gently got on the bed, one hand resting on his lover’s shoulder, gently shaking them.

“Wake up, there is something you need to see." He whispered softly in their ear, his smile widening as his partner growled in their sleep.

The guilt wasn't there. With an even more vigorous shake, and his partner opened their eyes. Their gaze threw lazy knives at Macaque, who only sneered. "What do you want? It's late." You growled at the proud look on Macaque's face.

“Put on your coat and boots, you have to trust me." Macaque didn't dare turn around, he could feel your burning gaze behind his back. If looks could kill, he'd be down by now since you woke up. But he didn't regret a single moment. He heard your growl before you finally got up, heading for the rack where your coat was, and you put it on right away, you leaned over to your boots, putting them on just as quickly. The ground was frozen despite your partner lighting the fireplace a few moments before. "Is it really so important that you have to wake me up in the middle of the night?" You asked him in a tired voice.

"It's worth it." He replied, coming back to you with a cup of tea, you took it without further ado. He placed a hand on your lower back and walked you to the door. "Whatever happens, don't fall in love." He chuckled softly before opening the door, letting the love of his life getting out first. What a gentleman, you smiled to yourself.

It was a chilly night, the new moon absolutely made the horizon much darker than usual..but, where did the green light come from? You were confused, you looked sideways to silently question your love, Macaque only had a smile, and with a nod of his head he pointed to the sky. You followed the movement and wow.

Beautiful sheer drapes dancing in the sky, a mesmerizing green turning blue with a slight tinged pink. Northern lights ! You rarely saw those back in town !

A gasp escaped from your mouth, your whole body was filled with serotonin at the sight of the sky, a gift from the heavens. It was so beautiful! An unknown nostalgic feeling filled your whole being, as if the breath of the sky was whispering to you "Everything is fine, you are safe" while wrapping you in the arms of Morpheus.

You feel your husband’s thumb wiping the corner of your eye, blinking you finally realized that tears were flowing down your cold face, slightly freezing your fur, and you turned back to your husband.

"You are so beautiful, my dear jewel. I love you so much." He placed a soft kiss on your cheek before placing his own mug on the railing of the balcony, his arms wrapped around you in a loving and comforting way.

It was the best wedding anniversary gift you'd ever gotten. The sky dancing for your eternal love in its most magnificent colors. Macaque rested his chin on the top of your head as your tails entwined.

Everything was silent except for the little cracking sounds the sky made, following something more melodious than the angels singing, everything was perfect, you couldn’t ask for more than that. Perhaps you could try and live there with Macaque, everything was peaceful in this place.

"I’m pretty sure that they got brighter since they saw you coming out, my love." He purred out, before he felt a small hit on his stomach, making him laugh..unknowing that the northern lights moved so much faster to his laugh.

"Shh ! Just listen to their sounds. They must be talking about us right now. They probably never saw monkeys in snow." You snickered as the two of you softly laughed in the middle of the night. The greenish sheer of the northern lights turning to a slight purple.

here's hopefully a fun idea, mk, red son, wukong and macaque x a himbo s/o. like they are very oblivious to anything and everything and constantly gets into trouble or almost killed, but they're so sweet and got nothing but love on the brain

MK - you have one brain cell between the two of you and neither of you can figure out who has it. He doesn’t mind at all that he gets to help save you if you get into trouble(he does mind how often you get into trouble, though. Seriously, how did you even manage to fall BY ACCIDENT DOWN INTO SPIDER QUEEN’S LAIR??) BUT the way you look at him with such adoration even though you’re caught up in this mess makes it all worth it.

Redson - They have no idea how you’re even alive. No matter, because they love the praise they get from you when they move you out of the way of one of the booby traps in their house. They have to come up with creative ways for you to remember which tiles are the bad ones without also giving it away to potential intruders. Whenever you’re ABOUT to do something dumb, it’s like a sixth sense, and they immediately find an excuse to leave whoever they’re talking with to get to you. If they honestly can’t be with you at that moment, they’ll probably send a Bull Clone to keep an eye on you.

Macaque - he keeps you close to him at ALL times if he can. No way are you gonna be able to just wander off, not on his watch! Finds your shenanigans funny at times, however if you could get seriously hurt he might have to intervene and have his clones just maneuver you around so you get the point. Still, he can’t stay mad at you for long, considering that you were just on your way to get him that boba tea he really likes.

SWK - you two are an enigma. A 100xImmortal monkey and a person who just. Narrowly avoids danger. To an alarming degree. You two are an unstoppable force honestly. He does his best to look out for you, especially if you’re just wandering around areas that he knows have demons in them. Sometimes he shapeshifts into animals so he can casually travel with you without having to disguise as a human, but other times he doesn’t mind doing it. The thing is, he has himbo energy, but he’s intelligent in truth. You on the other hand, are himbo in and out and ya know what? He loves that for you :]
