"There's a carving in our gate," said Dacey. "A woman in a bearskin, with a child in one arm suckling at her breast. In her other hand she holds a battleaxe. She's no proper lady, that one, but I always loved her."

Also, the Folio Society owes me years in emotional damage for the illustration on the first volume of ADWD...

My brother in Christ we shall have a spring wedding
all volunteer nights watchmen especially the nobles are gay till proven straight. literally why in the fuck would anyone, especially south of the neck, go to the fucking frozen ass of westeros except for the ass. waymar royce gay. denys mallister gay. bowen marsh gay. jeor mormont... bear. gay. benjen has the hypothetical excuse of having gone north to keep his mouth shut about r+l=j but we all know that's flimsy. gay.
hey don't be sad. deeply silly 18th century Iranian bird scissors.

I'm not a Renly girl but him getting friged for Brienne's arc is peak fantasy storytelling. He dies and ceases to have agency, but his presence lingers on this warrior maiden's pov. Her love for him was her major motivation to join the plot, but now he's gone, obsolete, unimportant. She wanted to be near him so she joined the army and fought to be rainbow guard and then he was killed and she had to flee and she swore service to another woman and she fell in love with another man, both enemies to Renly. Renly becomes a ghost in Brienne's journey, not so much haunting her but acting as a placeholder for all things naive and pretty and shattered, a memory of youth and dreamy aspirations, the amalgamation of everything that could not be. In Brienne's arc, he has to be destroyed to create a hollow place to be filled anew with truer things, things that are harder and sadder and messier but palpable, possible, achievable. It's tragedy it's bindungsroman. He's there in the fridge she is burring Shagwell. I love it for her I hate it for her. Most of all I love her and that she had this boyfridged king.
i am a renlygirl at heart i see a guy who’s mainly a concept and some imagery and go awooga !! love that he got boyfridged for brienne’s arc love that when his twelve year old nephew got bitten by a wolf he laughed so hard he had to be escorted out. ‘nobody wants you for their king. sorry!’ irreverent cunty gay dude he’s stewy succession to me. just had a really good peach and thought of him
This kid has too many jobs and not enough ways to wind down at the end of the day! Let’s give him some :)
