"There's a carving in our gate," said Dacey. "A woman in a bearskin, with a child in one arm suckling at her breast. In her other hand she holds a battleaxe. She's no proper lady, that one, but I always loved her."

Maybe On The Morrow She Would Tell Him About The Cat That Had Followed Her Home Last Night From Pynto's,

Maybe on the morrow she would tell him about the cat that had followed her home last night from Pynto's, the cat that was hiding in the rafters, looking down on them. Or maybe not. If he could have secrets, so could she.

Comment specially if it's an "old" fic!!
I have a fic that is fortunate enough to have really gathered a great readership. It's fantastic, and I appreciate every type of engagement, even if it's just a hit. BUT.
I just took a look. In the past month, 60 people have bookmarked the fic. Sure, maybe some are bookmarking it to read later instead of using the Marked for Later function, but you'd hope at least some of those people liked it enough to bookmark it to read again. In fact, three of those bookmarks had nice comments only in the bookmark.
Now, how many *actual* comments did I get on this fic in the past month? Only one. And it was not nice. It was one sentence that said "You should have tagged x."
It's super nice that people are reading fics, and leaving kudos. But please, if you like a fic, try to comment, and when you have a nice comment, put it in the comments box so the author actually sees it! You can put it in the bookmarks also, but just know the author is unlikely to see it there. Some authors cruise their bookmarks intermittently, but doing so puts them at very high risk of reading all the rude bookmarks out there, which are even more common than rude comments.
Fanfiction authors are doing what they do out of love, and community, and that community is increasingly consuming their efforts but ghosting the author. It's unsustainable.
As far as I can find, Soren has only cried twice in the entire six seasons of The Dragon Prince.

Once in Seasons Two, after he's paralyzed by the dragon.
"I was confused, and I didn’t want to do it, but I do want Dad to love me, and be proud of me."

And once in Season Six, when Viren is apologizing to him for all the hurt he's caused.
"Somehow you found the right path in spite of everything I've done. I'm so proud of you."
I've been thinking about this since the season dropped, so now you can too. You're welcome.

Jaime and Brienne in ASOS and AFFC
Jaime’s great-grandmother Rohanne and Brienne’s great-grandfather Dunk in “The Sworn Sword”
It meant a lot to Soren.

“What about here?” Soren asked.
“Here?”
“The castle,” Soren said, gesturing around. “Do you like it here?”
Corvus considered. “I’m not used to it yet.”
“Do you think you could get used to it?”
“Maybe.”

“Join the Crownguard!”
“Soren, I—”
“Jooooiiiin...” Soren waved his hands, his voice singsong. “…the Crownguard!”
Corvus folded his arms over his chest. “Ezran put you up to this.”
“Yes,” Soren admitted. “And also no. I suggested it, and he told me to ask you.”
“You suggested it?”
“Yeah, when Ezran told me how much he liked you. And trusted you. And wanted you to stick around, even though you’re more at home in the forest—and the trees, and whatever. Especially after everything that’s happened, I think—I think that matters a lot to Ezran.”
Corvus gave him a long, thoughtful look. Soren blew a strand of hair out of his face and would not meet Corvus’ eyes. “It matters a lot… to Ezran.”
“To the King, yeah.”

There was a flicker in Soren’s eyes—something dark and pained and wounded, something that he kept well-hidden behind his grin and the gleam of his armor. Corvus knew that darkness had not been born in the shadow of the Storm Spire, but it had deepened there.
It occurred to Corvus that he had never asked Soren how he felt about what had happened. With his father, Lord Viren. With his sister.
With anything, really.
So much had changed, and still Soren tried to smile.
Corvus cleared his throat. “The Crownguard?”
Soren nodded.
As plainly as he could say it, Corvus said, “Alright.”
Soren’s face lit up. “Really?”
“Yes. Really.”

Awesome catch!!!
