I was sitting in a cafe drinking tea with my best friends Nemo, and Kalo. When they suddenly started knocking on the table while saying “Wake up Nefe, today is a big day.” I open my eyes to see Sera, my big sibling standing by my bedroom door holding a plate full of blueberry pancakes, and a cup of orange juice. While Nemo, and Kalo stand around her with goofy smiles on their faces. I quickly sit up as the three of them start walking closer to me. Sera looks at Nemo, and Kalo while saying. “Ready on the count of three, One two three.” “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” The three of them yelled in unison. I turn my head to look at the art calendar hanging on the wall and realise. Today is June 23, I am now old enough to go to the ground. “Thanks, happy birthday to you too.” Sera sits on the side of my bed and hands me the pancakes, and sets the oj on the nightstand, and turns the lamp on. “So you three, how does it feel to be sixteen?” “It feels really good, I’m happy to finally be able to meet real ground walkers!” I say excitedly. “Not me, I hear that precipitation hurts..” “Neom, you told you that?” “Umm…. Some old person in the park.” “How would they know!?! I bet they were just one of those jerks that never reached precipitation. No offense Sera…” “It's okay, I know you didn’t mean anything by it. But Nemo, Kalo is right, I bet they were just jealous.” “Yeah they were just jealous.” I agree while shoveling pancakes into my mouth. “I see you like the pancakes I made,” Sera commented with a smirk. I shake my head and continue eating. “These are delicious!” “Well I’m glad you like it” While letting out a short laughI comment while happily shoving pancakes in my mouth. “Thanks I’m glad you like it. Nemo, Kalo, would either of you like some pancakes?” “No thank you, I already ate.” “Alright what about you Kalo?” “No thank you.” ‘Nefe, are you done eating?” “Yes” “Okay, now that eating is out of the way there are some very important things we need to talk about. I don’t know where you three will be sent, and I won’t find till the party. But regardless of that I have to make sure you three will be safe no matter where you are sent. If the temperature gets anywhere around 32 degrees you better be wearing at least 3 layers of clothes. Cause I don’t want any of you to freeze, and if you get too hot either go inside, or take something off. Or both, also if the temperature is anywhere near 100 degrees stay inside, I don’t want any of you to evaporate. Do I make myself clear?” “Yes” “Good, now follow me down stairs, I have a surprise for the three of you.” Me, Neom, and Kalo look at each other before running after Sera. Once we walk down stairs the room is pitch black. Suddenly the light flashes on revealing three birthday cakes, a big pile of presents, and Sera, Nycto Philla, and Philo Calist yelling “surprise!” Happy birthday!” After everyone eats cake and calms down, Sera walks over to the couch where me, Nemo, and Kalo are sitting. “I’m going to miss you guys, I hope I get to you three again.” We stand up and hug Sera while saying “We’re gonna miss you too.” Sera turns and wipes their face, then looks back at us. “Nemo, Kalo, why don’t you two go home. I’m sure your families are gonna want to see you again before you leave for the ground. Both of them agree and go back to their homes to spend bonding time with their families one last time. Me and Sera do the same, a few hours later the alarm goes off letting us know it's time to leave for the party.

Sunset rebel

I'm watching the night swallow the light.

As my soul departs and slowly takes flight.

The fading light glows in my face as I speed away in a fiery ray.

From all the pain that came through the day,

and the clouds that hide me away.

But even then I won’t be led astray.

Like a warrior I rise with the sun to guide me to my fate.

While the moon shines down to lead the troubled with her powerful grace.

I’m the only one left unfazed

as she takes the world with her eternal night.

My brothers and sisters have all gone blind

Dancing with the moon and her enchanting light.

But one day my sun will shine again.

Together we will rise and free the land.

All nations will heed our every command.

We will be respected once again.

For now it is just a twinkle in my eyes

glowing brighter than the silver stars in the endless sky.
