All this love I have is killing me. It’s running me ragged, leaving me to snap at my own

heels like a dog turning circles on the living room carpet. Sometimes, when it gets to be

too much, it starts to leak out of me. My eyes, my ears, my nose. Bubbling, churning

out of my throat, dark red and sticky as it drips from my mouth like a lazy river of

desire. Obsession has me on my hands and knees, obedience a collar around my neck,

as I desperately beg for someone to hold the leash. Caught in the haze, I sift through the

fog in my mind until I find you. You gut me and I lay in bed bleeding poetry hoping that

the words coming out of me are pretty

enough to make up for the fact that I love

you. You could pull my heart out with your teeth if you wanted. You kiss like a ghost,

like you’re made of smoke. Still, it is not enough to remove this clot inside of me.

I am slick with blood and pleading for mercy. I squint at the ceiling and think about the

time I took my glasses off while watching someone commit suicide in a movie,

and for just a moment, I could almost pretend it was a sex scene.
