Beneath Their Masks Chapter 15 is Up!

Writing cuddling is hard. Also, writing all these chapters so close to the day they're supposed to be releasing has me like this:

Makoto, for once, woke up before Ann. She was used to waking up to see Ann playing on her phone, rubbing circles into Makoto's back, or whispering gentle words while she thought Makoto was still asleep. She found that stalwart affection charming, but waking up to see Ann still fast asleep left her almost feeling disappointed.

"Hey, you." Makoto whispered, not really expecting a reply.

Ann didn't even stir. It was still somewhat early, and they didn't really have anything pressing to do today aside from having a lazy day with Sae and Mitsuru, maybe seeing if the rest of their friends had any plans, and if not, wondering if they would be open to spending time together.

But for now, Makoto wanted to savor Ann's presence. Makoto shifted to her side to lazily rest her arm over Ann on the outside of the bed. Ann must've felt that, because she hummed quietly and awkwardly moved her arm behind her to do the same to Makoto, although given their positioning, she only really successfully managed to lazily drape her hand over Makoto's rear. Makoto rolled her eyes and moved Ann's hand up to her thigh, not really blaming her because well, she was still asleep. Makoto could tell by her steady breathing, so she wasn't intentionally being lewd, just…inadvertently.

"Hey, now. Don't get too excited. You're still asleep." Makoto whispered.

"M'not…" Ann mumbled.

"Yes you are."

"Mm'koto…you’re soft…"

It's kind of upsetting how much Akira appears to miss Morgana when he leaves the party for a while. I believe that Morgana and Akira are genuinely very good friends, especially since they spend practically every waking (and unwaking, I guess) moment together.

It's nice to see some of Akira's inner voice come out, especially since Morgana is usually the one talking for him. I imagine that in his hometown, Akira was very isolated and lonely, so he was able to easily welcome Morgana into his life. I'm sure he found it comforting having someone to look after him and keep him out of his head, at least in my opinion.

I think that if Morgana had stayed gone for any longer, Akira's mental health would have begun to seriously decline, not having someone around to care about him and make sure he's staying on track. At least, that's what I think. It's been a while since I played the beginning parts of P5, but it reminds me of when Yu first shows up in Inaba in P4TA. He's very closed off, not really willing to open up until he makes friends and discovers his powers. He just wants to keep his head down and let the year pass by without incident.

Ah, I'm rambling again. I just really think this part is interesting. I don't think it was handled properly, storywise, since it basically all hinged on the shit way Atlus characterized Ryuji and Morgana's relationship, but it is what it is. There's not even any closure or anything. Just this throwaway line in a safe room:

Like come ON JUST TALK. Oh well. In my heart, they're buddies that happen to butt heads a lot without really meaning anything. Except here it did? I dunno.

Wrote another heavily depressing fic. I have one more in the idea stage as well. I SHOULD be writing my flufftober stuff but it's hard to get in that mindset right now, ya know? I get an idea for something depressing and then I write it all in one sitting. At least it's relatable. When I write fluff, I find my heart hurting because I'm pining for the feelings I'm writing about.

Man I'm cringe. Getting upset over this sort of thing.
