Beneath Their Masks Chapter 26 is Up!

Only a month late. I've got about two chapters left until I'm done, but I figured I ought to post some of the ones I already have ready right now instead of posting them all at once. That's big brain. I think. I dunno. Enjoy?

Having returned from visiting the Niijima sister’s parents at the cemetery, Makoto and Ann joined Sae and Mitsuru for dinner. It was a light affair, consisting of grilled fish and rice, with miso soup on the side. There was also an expensive looking bottle of wine and two wine glasses for Sae and Mitsuru. Sae had protested at opening such a bottle, to which Mitsuru glanced at it and said it wasn’t that expensive. Sae gave her a look that Makoto couldn’t place, and Mitsuru just smiled, pulling the cork out with the corkscrew as she did.

“Mitsuru, you never told me you could cook.” Sae said, surprised at the spread she had prepared.

“It never came up. Just something I picked up when I was in high school. Friends of mine taught me some things here and there after school in our dorm’s kitchen.” Mitsuru said, a content smile on her face. She had her hair up in a high bun, along with an apron with a floral pattern on it, faded from years of countless washings. “That would have been…oh, goodness, eight years ago? Time sure flies, doesn’t it?”

I've kept up this sort of side plot in Beneath Her Masks and its gotten to the point where nearly half of one of the chapters I'm working on is a text conversation going over it. I've been a little anxious about posting this chapter, even though its done, because I don't know if I should bother including so much extra shit like this. It's interesting (to me). And I like it. But does it add anything? Will it ever go anywhere? Or is it just my brain going "oh hey wouldn't it be cool if" for 2000 words.

The end chapter text conversation thing is getting a little out of hand and I dunno if anyone really gives a shit about it enough for me to leave it in. It doesn't really add anything. It's not relevant to the chapter.

Uuuuuuggghhhh writing is haaaaard. Especially when you can't really make any major changes after its posted, since that sort of defeats the purpose of uploading it to begin with.

I feel a little weird cuz when I do my prompt chapters, I write the prompt section, and then nine times out of ten, there are more words dedicated to my headcanon or side shit than the actual prompt.

I'm not gonna apologize for it, but I just felt like it's a little weird. Should I make separate chapters for it? Yeah probably.

Am I going to? Nah.

i was going through my spreadsheet for BTM, trying to figure out where to place this upcoming chapter in the timeline (note to anyone planning on doing this: don't. it's caused more stress than i realized was possible for picking dates out for things to happen outside of the main story)

then i decided to open up tumblr to check my notifs and then i ended up scrolling for like 10 minutes.

is this adhd? I dunno.

yeah ok maybe, but im not gonna self diagnose. just...wonder a little bit.
