moiraine: no, no you didn’t, mat?

mat: huh, that’s weird, how’d you even know it was broken?

rand: because it’s sitting right in front of us and it’s broken.

mat: suspicious …

rand: no it’s not!

nynaeve: if it matters, probably not, but perrin was the last one to use it.

perrin: LIAR, i don’t even drink that crap!

nynaeve: oh really? then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?

perrin: i use the wooden stirrers to push back my cuticles. everyone knows that, nynaeve!

egwene: okay let’s not fight. i broke it. let me pay for it, moiraine.

moiraine: no! who broke it?

rand: moiraine … lan’s been awfully quiet.

lan: REALLY!?

rand: oh yeah, really!

( indistinct arguing )

moiraine: i broke it. it burned my hand so i punched it. i predict 10 minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with warpaint on their faces and a pig head on a stick.

( *more* indistinct arguing )

moiraine: good, it was getting a little chummy around here.

okay so the anon the other night asked me for thoughts about moiraine and/or siuan and i really only gave them thoughts about moiraine, but tonight i am having some thoughts about siuan!

there have been a lot of gifs of siuan looking at moiraine on my dash today, and so that is what i am thinking about. that first moment in the hall when she enters in front of everyone and sweeps past alanna and moiraine and liandrin without apparent notice, climbs the throne and seats herself and only then does she raise her gaze, slowly, slowly. how much control that must take! after two years! to look at moiraine in front of the entire hall and not show anything! the more so because moiraine is clearly not in control of herself to the same extent. and we have been shown just how unflappable moiraine is from the very first episode! and here is siuan, outdoing her in stoicism!

because she has to be. so much of herself forced down into 'nothing but the seat.' she has to be unimpeachable, unreadable. has to be.

and we're shown how much of a toll it takes on her when she does the same in the hut - pauses at moiraine's entrance and takes a moment to collect herself before she looks up all the way. she can't quite shake that persona, even here in this place that is only for them!

it takes time, and effort, and it's so, so slow. the way she reaches for moiraine's face, still looking at her with that particularly shuttered mask, only for it to begin to crack as she touches moiraine and understands that they're truly together again. all that sorrow and love just comes pouring out. and then she can't look at moiraine without showing it! and she can't stop looking at her!

and i'm not talking just in the hut, with the adoring amusement of 'you little pufferfish.' moiraine looks away as she paces the room, but siuan never, never does. she only closes her eyes when she's talking about her dreams, because she knows what they mean. she can't get enough of looking at moiraine, because it happens so rarely.

but also, the next morning, when they're with egwene and nynaeve. she can't help herself! she looks at moiraine and giggles! she shares meaningful glances! she's lost that habit of control, and she needs to get it back.

and she does, before they meet in the hall again. she puts the amyrlin back on and she pulls herself together and she is so fully in control. except for when moiraine is leaving. when siuan breaks completely from the rest of the aes sedai and not only looks at moiraine, but - in a wonderful reversal of that first hall scene - turns her head to watch her go. at first she didn't look until the last possible moment; here she keeps looking until the last possible moment.

she can't get enough of looking at moiraine. because. well. she thinks she'll never have the chance again.

What if Nynaeve and Egwene have to tell Siuan that Moiraine got stilled what then

love how they ask Rosamund Pike for like the most minimum effort shoutout and she's like "no I will win an Oscar for this"

personally …. rosamund asking ‘moiraine ros’ that moiraine must’ve had the people of cairhien “on their knees” is something i will never recover from
