I have this free 3D Modell app that I like to use for pose refs. It's fantastic, but I have one small complaint. True anatomical accuracy cannot be acheived. I understand this is to prevent the app from being rated 18+, but I end up having to improvise and do shit like this.

What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:

I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.

Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.

A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)

So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.

Tumblr staff is antiblack and transmisogynistic but Cohost isn't a better option. Cohost's team includes former Discord moderator Kara, known for condoning "cub porn" (pedophillic furry art) on the platform. Since Kara formerly went by the handle "allthefoxes", a reference to a lolicon group, she'd have a vested interest in its allowance. This loophole in moderation carries over to Cohost. Written plainly in their community guidelines. This section of the post is transmisogynistic misinformation, and has been debunked here.

Thank you again to the people who factchecked the Kaara section. Looking into this more would've avoided bringing unnecessary pain and scrutiny to Kaara, and my failure to do so was plain negligent and transmisogynistic. "All the things" was a meme 12 years ago and makes more sense as an explanation for her old handle. The section that casts blame on Kaara for the community guidelines was nonsense. It's just a transmisogynistic projection of some unique sinisterness onto transfems. I am sorry I posted this without doing my due diligence, and that it took me this long to correct my post. This is not the climate to recklessly throw accusations at transfems in. Not with how transfems are under very real attack both on and offline. The "transmisogynists DNI" in my pinned might as well have been decorative with how I handled this. To Kaara and every other transfem that had to see that, I'm sorry. Feel free to drop your cashapps, mutual aid posts, gofundmes etc. in my messages. I don't have much but boosting and opening my wallet is the least I can do to make up for this.

My wording wasn't clear enough with regards to the bit about Eevee, so I'll reword it. I personally believe Cohost's banning of toonimal was a PR move. I believe this because of the presence and protection of Eevee on the platform. She vehemently defends beastiality, CSAM (1, 2, 3), incest (1, 2), and sex with children (1) as neutral. Eevee has also been accused of getting nudes from someone as a minor. I can't help but see parallels between toonimal's "radqueer" movement and these screenshots. Bringing up Eevee's intentional deadnaming of someone's friend was to show Cohost staff plays favorites, like Tumblr staff does. Intentional deadnaming is against Cohost's TOS.

Social media platforms are a hellscape that only intensify the more marginalized you are. I'm not here to tell you whether you should sign up for Cohost or not. That's not my decision to make for you. I just know that I personally wouldn't have made an account if I knew their staff stands by Eevee.
