Could you talk about/ recommend some barrier and sealer sprays you mentioned in the body paint ask?
So barrier/sealer/fixative sprays all pretty much do the same thing. If used before your makeup it acts as a barrier; it creates a protective layer that helps prevent sweat from damaging your makeup (as much). If used after applying makeup it acts as a sealer; it prevents your makeup from being able to rub off. Using a barrier spray is very important when you use most body paints because the body paint can rub off onto your clothes or furniture.
Many barrier sprays are alcohol based so they may dry out your skin. Shouldn’t be an issue if you have oily skin, but if you have dry skin you may want to moisturize and allow it to soak in before doing your makeup.
I currently use Lise Watier Magnifix Makeup Fixative. I found it locally and it was in my price range, and it’s lasted quite awhile. When I run out though, I plan to pick up either Ben Nye‘s Final Seal or Mehron’s Barrier Spray and see how the quality differs.
Many makeup brands have their own barrier sprays, you don’t necessarily have to choose one for theatrical makeup! Though I suggest doing some research into the sprays before committing. While many are matte, there are some that give a “dewy” look and may be more shiny than you were intending.

Reblog this post if you are a part of the Star Wars fandom. I want to know how many jedi are on tumblr.
Got a decent start on my Inuyasha pants after an hour of fucking with my stupid machine trying to figure out wtf i was doing wrong! Just gotta add the elastic and hem and that should be it! Lol Thanks to my mama for helping!
@cos-tips I understand why you decided to take the articles down but I feel like if someone wants to darken or lighten their skin color that is their choice. How is it different from going tanning everyday to get darker? That's just as harmful (what with skin cancer and all) but I don't see anybody banning posts about tanning salons. I do not wish to perpetuate the idea that dark skinned people cannot cosplay light skin characters, that's not my point at all. I'm all for cosplaying whatever you feel comfortable cosplaying. I just dont like that one person's opinion forced you to take down articles. You can't always be worried about offending others. Someone is always going to be offended by something, especially when dealing with large numbers and/or social media. Just some food for thought.
*This is just a FYI, I'm not mad at you guys* While I applaud you guys for mentioning that the anon didn't need to lighten their skin for cosplay, posting tips for skin whitening/lightening is problematic because it reinforces the views that darker people can't cosplay because of our skin color or that in order for cosplay to be accurate the cosplayer needs to have the same skin tone as their character which isn't true at all!
This is very true! You put it into words quite well. Both Mod Gigi and I actually don’t think that it’s right to paint your skin a natural skin tone different from yours. We aim to help cosplayers as much as we can, and we’re very sorry if you were hurt or offended by what happened! The asks sending info/asking about lightening will be deleted, so to not spread harmful information.
