This blog may get revamped later. But for now, it’ll be a combo of aesthetic posts and encouraging messages. But mostly, I’ll probably be reblogging from The Latest Kate 😂.

Crap, guess I won't be eating those for a while and I'll need to find another company with vegetarian candy corn. :(

Women in the Media

You know how people say that things have gotten a lot better for women? How women are now absolutely equal to men? Well, they're wrong. Sure, we've made some gains. We can vote, we can get many of the same jobs, we can get an education. But here's the thing: many people still see us the same way. We exist to look pretty, serve men, and make babies. The media makes sure of that. If a woman runs for a political position, such as President or Vice President, people won't focus on what she's actually saying. They'll notice how pretty she looks or how messed up her hair is. How wrong is that?! People like Hillary Clinton, they are up on a podium, talking about the same issues the male candidates are. People will listen to the males, but then comment on how she did her makeup today? Are you f^€<!&g serious? Oh, and movies. Why is the man always the hero and the girl just there as a love interest/ damsel in distress? How about making them an actual character instead of just something for guys to look at? She has a personality! She has a mind! Don't make her be there just for sex, seriously. Give her some respect. Or better yet, make her the hero. Make her someone who fights for what she wants or fights for others! Make her the chosen one! But skip the skimpy outfit, please. We don't need to show half of our naked body to rescue someone. And we certainly don't need eight pounds of makeup either. Do we really need to look as sexy and slutty as humanly possible to get attention? Apparently movie makers think we do and that's completely absurd! We deserve better than this. We deserve to be heard, not just seen because, believe it or not, we have brains. We are just as smart as men, we are just as capable as men, and we should be treated as equals to men. If it's any other way, we're living a lie.

Christmas Presents

Some may say that presents are the most important part of Christmas. To them I say...I completely agree! I swear that's not as materialistic as it sounds, just hear me out for a second. I'm not just talking about getting gifts from people, but giving them too. Let's be honest, it's just not Christmas without decorative boxes wrapped in bows, placed ceremoniously underneath a tree. You might prefer giving over getting, but that still means that presents are important. There's just something about searching for that one perfect gift, having someone exclaim with joy over something you paid for yourself, with them in mind, that just makes you really happy. If you're one of those people who just gets gifts because it's Christmas and you feel obligated to, CUT IT OUT! If you do that, you're not really thinking of the other person. Therefore, the gift loses all meaning. Gifts are meant to bring other people happiness, not make them regret even opening the box! The best thing you can do is either really put some heart into the gift or just forget about it. Trust me, it's worth it. For those of you that just aren't good at giving gifts, here are a few tips. First off, think of the other person's interests. Do they like fashion? Pick them up some nice jewelry or a scarf. Are they music nerds? Grab some CDs from their favorite artists. Just consider what they like and get a present to match. And if they still don't like it, there's always the gift receipt. You can even ask what kinds of things they would like instead for next year. And if they happen to have a wish list, stick to that list and make sure that no one else got them the same thing. Lastly, to those who can't afford as much, as long as it's truly from the heart, even if it's small, it will be fine. Hopefully this will help some of you next Christmas. Have a Happy New Year and remember, it's the thought that counts!

Yeah…it’s been a while since I’ve been on here, but I guess I’m just more of a twitter girl. I guess I expected to blog about something like slut-shaming(see feminism rant, shame on you past-me for saying that word in that way!), but this is focused on something I noticed on one of my new favorite shows Twisted (despite the fact that it has slut-shaming too. *sigh* A lot of teen-young adult shows do.) So one of the main characters, Jo, was at a birthday party for the sister of another main character, Lacey. Lacey’s dad was in town and because of the divorce and related fights, there’s a bit of tension at the moment. So at one point, Lacey asks Jo to get something from the pantry (I can’t remember what) and what does Jo see? Lacey’s dad is making out with with her sister’s gymnastics coach. After this, Jo tries to persuade him to tell Lacey, letting him know that Lacey would love him no matter what. He’s not quite ready to tell her so he politely leaves. Reassurance like that is good, but then Jo does something not so good.Lacey is about to tell her a secret when Jo suddenly decides it’s a good idea to tell her that her dad is gay. This leads to her confronting her dad and the mom walking in and Lacey asking her to talk to him. Later, while mom and dad are fighting upstairs, Jo asked if she should’ve kept her mouth shut, to which Lacey replies that she’s glad Jo told her. But really, Jo should’ve kept her mouth shut. I can understand that she wanted to be honest with her friend, but outing someone without their permission is never an okay thing to do. That is a decision that only the LGBTQ person is allowed to make. Though we can urge them to come out, they have their reasons for keeping it in the closet. They could still be coming to terms with who they are and they don’t want it out until they’re completely sure. They could live in a very ignorant place and they don’t want people threatening them, or worse. They could be afraid that the people closest to them won’t want them around anymore. In a country where less than 1/3 of states even allow gay marriage, there are plenty of reasons why someone might not want people to know their true sexuality. If any stray person may be reading this, if someone you know is in the closet and they want you to keep it a secret, respect their privacy and let them know that you support them no matter what. And to ABC Family, a network that has a show based around a family with lesbian moms should know better than to endorse outing (and slut-shaming, though unrelated to the subject at hand).

On a side note, if anyone out there is actually reading my posts, let me know if I should have a more fun tumblr, like with cat pictures or something, IDK yet. Signing off.
