Martin was a pretty lonely kid. That was a thing that happened naturally when his only remaining parent decided it was a good idea to distance herself from him, for various reasons, none that were particularly valid.

Ever since his dad had left, his mum had taken a turn for the worst. Snapping at him for the littlest of things, even when he didn’t even do anything wrong.

It.. sucked, no matter how better and better he felt he was getting at his people-watching skills, to determine their moods and, well, thoughts, in a fruitless hope that figuring it out would be the key to finding the way to get their love.

Nurses pitied him, those out of the neighborhood, unable to hear the poisoning whispers of a mother blaming her son for all her issues, and who had converted many of her friends to hate him too.

༺𓆩𓁺𓆪༻

...was the bet they currently had on-going for a child.

A child that happened to be both Forsaken-oriented, and Beholding-oriented, because if they were going to be a married couple, then what about a family? Creating an actual child was completely out of the question, so the only other option would be to look for one. What.

-- OR, Martin gets adopted by Elias and Peter.

i read way too many fics where the tma characters get de-aged that i wrote my own.

usually the spacing is large because formatting weird so i tried deleting them and now it feels way too crowded

i talk

im just noticing it now but its not just me??? other people confuse grimmauld place with grimmauld palace which i have no idea why, genuinely, but i stumble on it too like a dumbass. and people who watched the movies probably wont feel the same (looking at the pic on the wiki, really not a palace)

although i guess. if you were reading a book and your brain for some reason messed up a word. you maybe wouldnt ever know unless someone said it, you had pictures, or you looked really closely at it.

admittedly, i dont know why, i always imagined it as like some sort of big manor, and as im not a movie watcher (honestly if i can get away with it i hate watching movie adaptations of books. as in, if its a book i care about, fuck the movie adaptation ill probably hate it. i mean i know the adaptation has to have differences or whats the point of doing both, like watching the movie and reading the book, because id imagine a movie would be to promote it in a way and make you interested in reading the books yourself to fully immerse yourself into the world. to probably provide a different take? im just not the biggest fan of that. perfectly fine with it though if its a book ive never read because i am a lazy shit) i never. had any actual proper visuals? i mean i tried watching like the first movie but i. honestly have a hard time watching really old stuff, as in like. stuff thats not the greatest quality as it is compared to now? and i just kind of gave up and never saw the point (fanfiction tells me everything that happens in the movies that are not. i mean i dont think theyre books, but i know like the grindelwald thing and obscurials) so.

man i just feel so validated knowing that other people make the same mistakes i make.

Awake and Unafraid | TMA Fic (Fic Rec)

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

Martin's new job at the Institute isn't what he was expecting. Along with Tim and Sasha, he's struggling with a disorganized Archive, no direction from their slightly-devious boss, and the growing feeling that they're in danger. Which is not helped by the cryptic warnings from a far too-knowing voice on an ancient tape recorder calling themselves the Archivist.

its. so fucking. cool. AND IT MAKES SENSE, like genuinely. with an actual plot, and i really enjoyed it. There was no part where I felt like 'I have to stop reading' because it's too much? It was perfect. Well not perfect perfect obviously, but I had a really enjoyable experience binging it lmfao. If you don't know what TMA stands for, its The Magnus Archives, its basically like a horror podcast. This is where I admit most of my knowledge comes from other fanfics because I'm still on like season one? And I do this thing where I tune out background noise accidentally, but I wouldn't be able to fully focus on it because I'm a multi-task person, so I've been slowly doing the task of reading the transcripts for every episode out loud instead, which helps but I get a headache cause MAN they're long.

anyway this is Martin/Jon, which I'm still figuring out ships but I'm assuming that's the big whole OTP that nearly everyone ships in the fandom, but if that's not your cup of tea (cause that's understandable, I think Bakudeku is like an OTP but some people find it uncomfortable due to the previously kinda toxic relationship?) here's your warning. Uh. also. as the tags say. "The Usual TMA Warnings Apply". Which. uhh. if you're squeamish at just the mention of stuff maybe. don't. Or maybe if you don't like horror?? I've never actually been affected by horror books unless they're super gross or go extremely in depth about depictions of like, say, gore, so I can't actually say if the fic is scary at all, but I found myself very invested. Also uhh, Martin POV. If you've been looking at my bookmarks recently (why are you?) then you'd find it's kind of like a mix of TMA and HP x Twilight rn. Opposite sides of the spectrum kinda where ones are either romance-typical with Twilight which I've never seen, or character bashing. And then TMA's here like 'there are things more powerful and blah blah blah--' But to be fair..

Awake And Unafraid | TMA Fic (Fic Rec)

At the very left is Twilight x HP. And the very right is TMA. Although a few tabs are out of sight because I have too many open. lmfao. Anyway I've been rambling. Um. Um. UH. JUst. give it a shot??? You kinda get the gist of what's going on after you read a few multi-chapter fics because it develops a timeline and they generally tend to be close to the 'start' (which I don't know when. but. worm usually.) and then you can kinda notice based on similarities between fics what's usually canon. imma shut up now (anyway martins a def fav that you might see around if i have more fics to share)

for an outsider with divine wings, the underworld suits you (PJO x HP)

archiveofourown.org
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

The fourth entry to my angel of death series (aka non-connected one shots where Harry is the Angel of Death. ..or basically Death-adjacent.)

But so thus, the Angel of Death was literally just going to be how demigods were for the gods. Which, fair, he’d chosen to do this, and to be claimed as one of Death’s children, however not literally, would be an honour. The other kids however wouldn’t have had a choice in that, having just been born that way, so it sucked for them. Man, the gods could at least be more grateful towards their children. He supposed though, with the small lifespan of a human, that it would do nothing but hurt to get close to them. But then what would even be the point of creating them? Well, probably because otherwise they didn’t have any believers and would fade, but man, no thanks for continuously defeating their enemies. That sucked. (he tried not to think about the parallels) Despite that, and many of his very pissed off thoughts, he was temporarily being lent over to Hades to get his children for him and bring them to the Underworld. And they also weren’t at camp. Yay. --- OR, Harry, basically Death (Thanatos)'s adopted kid, gets lent out to Hades for a task. To get his kids. ..And he may or may not run into a certain pair on a quest.

basically following the plot of The Lightning Thief, sorta.

orders and gods and stuff

Everything needs order. It might not always work, but it makes people more civilized and more synchronized. It's teamwork that can have people be much more efficient in their duties because of sharing and stuff. Not to mention I guess, while a bunch of deities are cool and all, some people would prefer this one main person whose all important. Or as like, the main face, the.. I can't remember what they're called. Poster boy?

Point is, if people look at Greek mythology but are a newbie, they'll at least know of Zeus, and point out Zeus as a god. So on and so on.

Or people looking at Egyptian mythology from an outsider perspective might think of Ra first, as the big ol' important sun god.

I mean, nearly everyone, even if they don't believe in Christianity, or have even touched a bible know of God. (..and Jesus Christ)

Or Buddhism with the Buddha.

Also the family tree stuff probably made it more.. human? People being related to people. I don't really know, but since back then people would know that they were born via their parents, then it would only be logical to have that explanation be added to the gods as well, it just means that their parents might've been a whole lot more. well. more.

It likely would've made sense in their eyes (they'd literally just be blank slates otherwise, because certain parts of the body are meant for well, childbirth, or well, the chest being to feed, y'know), and not to mention their own thoughts on animals and why they do certain things, likely leading to similar explanations would explain similar supernatural creatures. Certain animals if I recall that right can actually notice certain things, like signs of danger faster then humans. There's that one I think bird that would go down to the mines with people, and I think if it died then it would tell people there was poison early, giving them enough warning to leave. Or like.. animals, like maybe dogs, I can't remember the story but it was something about them noticing like early signs of an earthquake or something and saving their owner.

Or good old coincidences that could make people think of animals as otherworldly, or something.

It just gave order to it, organizing it in a way that made sense, and like a logical thing.

On that line of thinking, I think I understand why people think of gods and all that stuff. There's a game called Detroit: Become Human, where you play as three androids who have the potential to become a deviant, or basically go against their programming. Having feelings, and wanting to be free (there's a lot of dark themes, but it's a game that is defined by your choices. Endings differ vastly.) Getting back on topic, there's this, well, 'god' they worshipped. Or some of the deviants, I mean. RA9. The story is that they were basically this android, their 'savior' that was gonna save them all or something.

Nobody knows who RA9 is, but still that idea flourished, and many deviants shared the same idea (it could be that they shared this idea with others). The first time we even see any mention of RA9 is for like some worshipping thing. As far as I'm aware, there's been no actual explanations as to how it happened.

The point is, it just ended up becoming this point of worship, something that gave them hope. That RA9 will come for them and save them (it's thought that Markus was RA9 because that's the role he can end up playing, but it's genuinely all by chance that he even stumbles on that chance to do such). And while it is just a game, it's a little fascinating, that this idea can spread and be shared, something to be believed even if there might not have actually been any proof of their existence.

I was honestly just watching a 5-year anniversary playthrough, and staring at the idea of RA9 with new eyes, or well new 'lenses', I'm understanding it a lot more (that game won't ever get old to me).

future me here. i genuinely dont remember what the question was, but for summer school the teacher gave you discussion assignments so youd be given a question to answer. i always wrote LONG answers with plenty of paragraphs.

The Importance of Trees in Myths (like.. potential 'whys' of the existence of world trees. but uneducated and just guesses)

Trees are basically everywhere, and even otherwise it's been thought of as like a special thing in many places. There are some trees who've been I think, something something planted in space? And then moved back here, probably fact check me on that because I can't remember it exactly. Or I remember in my old school there was this big tree in the playground (back in elementary) and everyone loved to hang out underneath and around it by the shade that people were devastated when they were gonna cut it down to free up space for more classrooms. it doesn't have to actually have an important history or anything, and could literally just be a place that a lot of people like to hang around.

Continuing on, trees are so small at first. And then they grow, and they grow big (you could say its similar to infants and adults), not to mention that they can last a really long time. They can live to hundreds and even thousands of years, and the thing is is that people associate old age with being wise (there's the whole thing about respecting elders. Not that I'm saying you shouldn't, although I know you could probably assume that me mentioning it means that it isn't a good thing).

There's probably a god out there that's a tree, and related reasons might be because of the age difference, or maybe the way a tree grows, because trees can grow into different shapes as well, and I don't know, there might be an instance where it grows to point in a direction, and someone follows it and it saves their life, who knows. Trees can also be seen as rebirth in a way. Or well, to be more accurate, it's like about with fall and winter, 'shedding your leaves'. Actually I don't think anyone says that. Uh. Think about it another way. Phoenixes will turn to ashes, and then later rise up from them whole again. There's a MLP (My Little Pony) variation of where they shed their feathers and look horribly ill until they 'die', burning to ash, before coming back from those ashes whole in their feathery glory.

And then turn it into tree. Where it sheds its leaves and almost kinda look like they're dead, and then later on when those leaves (I almost said feathers, imagine a tree with feathers haha) come back with spring and summer, in its whole basically 'rebirth' cycle. I don't know about trees enough to tell you how it actually works but also maybe, connections? Like with how big they are, and how their roots underneath expand vastly beneath them it could be seen as a whole, like, channel. Words are failing me right now but well, branches of worlds, y'know. Many branches above, and then many roots below and could technically be thought of as heaven and hell in its contrast, y'know?
